  • Wordpress: Issues trying to display all comments in one page

    Hi, I'm trying to modify my wordpress theme (inove) to display all comments in the same page instead of 50 comments per page. I opened the comments.php file, commented out calls to paginate_comments_links() and and set the wp_list_comments() as follows: wp_list_comments('type=comment&callback=custom_comments&per_page=100&page=1'); The problem is, whenever someone posts a comments, the comment form appends '/comment-page-2/' to the URL after submitting the comment, even though I've specified that all comments to be displayed on the same page. Any idea what I could be missing? Appreciate your help

  • Iphone UI Size / Layout Resource?

    Is anyone aware of a website or download to reference for the size of UI elements or standard iphone interface stuff? What I mean is something that gives the height of elements like the status bar, tab bar, navigation bar, default tableviewcell height (and such things as width of accessory view, indentation, etc), default icon sizes, default font sizes for UI elements (if they need to be mimicked, for instance), etc etc etc. It's amazing how many times I have to go back to find a reference or estimate the size and position of a standard element. It seems like it would be an invaluable resource that could fit on a printed page or two.

  • IE 8 "Find on this page" Feature is very slow

    I've tried to find a work around for this, but most of my searches end up in people who can't use the find-on-this-page feature at all in IE8. It appears for me, but for some reason takes forever to find things on a text heavy page, often making IE completely un-usable for several minutes. I thought I was the only one, but other people in my office have noticed it as well. Is anyone aware of a work around?

  • 'Loading' web page for async call

    I have a simple web page in ASP.NET / C#. Currently to fully render the data I require calling a block of code that runs on background threads and can take multiple minutes to complete. I've got it to the point (using the async attribute on the page declaration) to execute and return fine with the html once it's done. What I'd like it to do is allow me to return immediately with a 'loading page' of some sort and then have that page be updated when the background work has been completed. Right now I get nothing on the page while the background work is being processed. Any ideas on the best way or clever way to do that would greatly be appreciated! Thanks, Sieg

    Hi, In VS2003, I am trying to find out the particular page where the request is coming from. I want to identify the exact aspx page name. Is there a way to only get the page name or some how strip the page name? Currently I am using the following instruction... string referencepage = HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferrer.ToString(); and I get the following result... "http://localhost/MyPage123.aspx?myval1=3333&myval2=4444; I want to get the result back with out any query string parameters and be able to identify the page MyPage123.aspx accurately...   • Focussing on Style Sheets and Cross Browser Compatibility.

    Hello everyone, Let me begin this topic by explaining my background experience with web design. I have always been more of a back end programmer, with PHP and SQL and things. However I do have a shallow background with HTML and CSS. The problem is, I don't know it all. What I do know is, when it comes to designing (not back end dirty work) I understand basic CSS properties and I also understand HTML and I can usually throw together a sloppy web page with the two and a couple bazillion DIV tags. Anyways.. The problem I always have encountered is that when I design a website in a browser such as IE7 (and then it looks perfect on IE7), and then look at it on IE8 or IE6 or Mozilla (etc.) it gets all spacey and ugly and looks totally different than the way it should look on IE7. Question one: Basically, what I am asking everyone is what route should I take to learn how to properly build the website? Build as in put it togehter with CSS standards and HTML standards that will make my site look the same on every brwoser. (Not only learning standards but where can I learn to properly write my code?) Where is a strong free resource I can use to learn how to these things? Question two: How do I properly code my website? Do I use all external style sheets to make dynamic page design simplistic or do I hard code some things into the DIV tags on each page? What is proper? Oh, and if anyone has any tutorials on how to properly design a complete layout feel free to throw it in a response somewhere. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions, and hopefully you will understand what I am trying to get out to everyone.   • Relative Footer with Absolute DIV Elements

    Hi, I'm creating a wordpress theme where the header and the nav bar are positioned absolutely, and the footer needs to be positioned relatively depending on the height of the content on each page. When I try to set the footer's positioning to relative, however, it appears at the top of the page underneath the content. All elements are in a relatively positioned container. Is there any way to fix this, or to dynamically get the height of the content plus the header and nav bar? Under the single quote key, I've found two curly/angled quotes, but those (’ and ‘) don't seem to do the trick...

    I am wondering why Windows 7 always automatically changes my input or keyboard language. I've a notebook with an integrated QWERTY keyboard English (United States). Traveling, I use that one but, additionally, I've my own as well as a much better keyboard at home which is a QWERTZ keyboard German (Germany). Thus, being at home, I'd like to use my QWERTZ keyboard. Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not play along at this one. Every time, I start up my notebook, it is usually set to English (United States) but that's not the problem. In case, I'd use my notebook QWERTY keyboard English (United States), that's fine. However, if I start up my notebook and I'd like to use my QWERTZ keyboard German (Germany), I usually press ALT + Left Shift in order to switch from English (United States) to German (Germany) and Windows 7 switches the input language but only for the program that is currently open. If my input language is set to German (Germany) and I, e.g., open NotePad, Windows 7 automatically switches my input language to English (United States). This is very annoying since I've to change the input or keyboard language to German (Germany) every time I open up a new program. Why doesn't Windows 7 stay with one input language if I changed it manually by pressing ALT + Left Shift? Why doesn't the manual change of the input or keyboard language apply for the whole Windows 7? Why does it only affect the currently opened program? Since I've two keyboards with two different layouts, I seriously need to have both of the keyboards languages installed. I tried both of the below settings in order to find a solution for my problem. Currently, I am using the first option, two input languages.   • NX Client running on OS X 10.6.3 => NX Server Ubuntu 10.04: weird keymapping issue

    I have been using Ubuntu 9.10 at work after switching from vista. After being (expectedly) disappointed with performance over VNC (via VPN) when logging in from home, I came across the NOMACHINE suite. Last week, I upgraded from OS X 10.6.2 = 10.6.3 at home. After that, I also updated my NX Client at home to the latest version, as there were issues with recent changes in the OSX X11 setup that rendered the NX connection useless. At that point, everything worked fine. Fast forward, I upgraded from 9.10 = 10.04 on my work machine the next day, and after coming home and trying to log-in remotely, I noticed that the "s" and "m" keys, when pressed locally, acted as if the meta key was being pressed on the remote machine. That is, the "s" key opens in the Ubuntu login menu (the power icon), and the "m" key opens the messaging menu. I found some info on using xmodmap to remap keys, however, I can't even begin to fathom what keys I could remap to solve this issue. Any ideas?

  • How can I sort out Xephyr's keyboard mapping?

    When I start up Xephyr inside of X, my keyboard map becomes wonky mostly just for non-printing characters. I can't use arrow keys. According to xev, The down arrow gets mapped to Super_R. The up arrow is Print Screen. PgDown is mapped to "Menu". My keyboard works fine in the original X display (:0), but in the Xephyr subdisplay (:1), nothing else quite works right. I don't have any funky xmodmap things going on in my main X display that I'm aware of. All I really do is setxkbmap -option ctrl:swapcaps.

  • .inputrc settings: delete-char and [] keybindings not working

    Hello, I am using mingw under windows. When I am using ruby (irb) my 'special' characters like []{} and \ are not working. This is because of my german keyboard, where these keys are used together with AltGr (Alt + Ctrl). I found a solution for this here or here. Now, when I add the line "\M-[": "[" to my .inputrc file the delete-key no longer works. It is defined as usual: "\e[3~": delete-char Pressing delete just returns [3, while Ctrl + v, delete returns ^[[3~ as expected. Somehow these two definitions in .inputrc do not work together. Any ideas? EDIT: It is only the delete key that is not working, my other bindings all work, like: "\e[1~": beginning-of-line # home (ok) "\e[2~": paste-from-clipboard # insert (ok) "\e[3~": delete-char # delete (PROBLEM) "\e[4~": end-of-line # end (ok) "\e[5~": history-search-backward # pageup (ok) "\e[6~": history-search-forward # pagedown (ok)

  • Which keymap to use for wired mac keyboard in Gentoo Linux?

    I just purchase the new wired mac keyboard: Running on Gentoo Linux it works mostly fine. The only problem i am having is the function keys and swapping the alt and command keys to resemble a regular pc keyboard. When I tried switching to the "mac-us" keymap in /etc/conf.d/keymaps I got garbage when typing (not even qwerty). Is there any specific keymap that I can use to get what I want?

  • Type Chinese with French keyboard

    I use a Mac with French keyboard, and I have installed a Windows 7 as virtual machine. Now I would like to type Chinese in this Windows 7. The normal input method for Chinese within Windows 7 allows me to input Chinese, but does not work perfectly, because it does not recognize I am using a French keyboard - it presumes I am using a English keybord... So for some keys, what I type on the keybord is not what the input method gives on the screen... Could anyone help on this?

  • Displays tabs in Firefox 3.6 across multiple rows?

    Hello, After upgrading to Firefox 3.6, I noticed that there no longer seems to be a way to have tabs all displayed in several rows when there are too many to fit in the window: http://www.ghacks.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/firefox_tabs_multiple_rows-500x179.jpg I find it very inconvenient to have to click on the down arrow at the far-right side to go through the list of open tabs. The TabMixPlus add-on is incompatible with ReloadEvery 3.6.2, so that's not a good solution either. Does someone know if it's possible to either configure FireFox 3.6 to go back to the previous way of displaying multiple tabs, or if there's an add-on that's compatible with ReloadEvery that would do the trick?   • qtcreator keyboard problem: azerty/qwerty

    I picked up the qt SDK and I've been trying it out. I'm working in English but I have a French AZERTY keyboard. When I run Qt Designer all is fine. When I run Qt Creator or Qt Designer from within Qt Creator things work as though I had a QWERTY keyboard, so I have to hit the "q" key to get an "a", etc. Qt Creator is version 1.3.1 and it is using Qt 4.6.2. My PC is running XP. What is going on and what is to be done? Any ideas? Editing a program in this setup is, of course, impossible! Luckily I discovered I can use an external editor, so I can use xemacs, which would be my first choice anyway, but this keyboard problem is a real nuisance! Thanks.

  • Send option/alt key press to OS X connected from Windows via VNC?

    I recently started using a mac running Leopard Server remotely at work, using the RealVNC client to connect from my Windows XP workstation via the Leopard VNC server. As I need to do a fair amount of editing, I would like to have the keys mapped to the same positions as the macs I have been using for a long time. The Ctrl key works as Ctrl, and the Alt key works as Cmd, which is good, but I have had no success getting the Windows logo key to work as Option/Alt. It's seriously affecting my productivity in XCode and Terminal. Has anybody with the same setup solved this question, either by configuring Windows and/or the VNC client, or otherwise?

  • What is the "Apple" key and what key is it that is depicted as part of an upper case X?

    I read in some answers about using the "Apple" + "Space bar" keys. Which is the "Apple" key? Also, I see in my Mac OS X Safari menu bar that to open the download window I can use a 3 key combination. The last of the 3 keys are the Command key (depicted with a clover leaf symbol) and the 'L' key. The first key is the one I don't see anywhere. It is depicted by a symbol that looks to me like an upper case 'X' with most of the forward slash part removed. What key is that? OK, just discovered by trial and error that it must be a symbol for the "option" key. What is that symbol called and why is it not on the keyboard?

  • Can not set Windows XP Keyboard configuration

    A friend of mine came to me with a french Windows XP where windows had decided that keyboard would now be english-US keyboard instead of french keyboard. After a few attempts, I came to the strange conclusion that it's impossible to change it. Whatever keyboard configuration I apply, the language dialog does not complain but sticks to the english-us keyboard. I tried : setting two keyboards, with FR as default setting two keyboards, with EN-US as default one keyboard as FR It's like it was impossible to apply a new keyboard configuration. Any idea what could be wrong ?
