    Scenario: I have a string of hexadecimal characters which encode 8-bit signed integers. Each two characters represent a byte which employ the leftmost (MSB) bit as the sign (rather than two's complement). I am converting these to signed ints within a loop and wondered if there's a better way to do it. There are too many conversions and I am sure there's a more efficient method that I am missing. Current Code: string strData = "FFC000407F"; // example input data, encodes: -127, -64, 0, 64, 127 int v; for (int x = 0; x < strData.Length/2; x++) { v = HexToInt(strData.Substring(x * 2, 2)); Console.WriteLine(v); // do stuff with v } private int HexToInt(string _hexData) { string strBinary = Convert.ToString(Convert.ToInt32(_hexData, 16), 2).PadLeft(_hexData.Length * 4, '0'); int i = Convert.ToInt32(strBinary.Substring(1, 7), 2); i = (strBinary.Substring(0, 1) == "0" ? i : -i); return i; } Question: Is there a more streamlined and direct approach to reading two hex characters and converting them to an int when they represent a signed int (-127 to 127) using the leftmost bit as the sign?

I'm passing it into a function and I'd like to do some implicit conversions as such: implicit def asInt( _in:Option[Object] ) = _in asInstanceOf[ Option[Int] ] implicit def asDouble( _in:Option[Object] = _in asInstanceOf[ Option[Double] ] private def parseEntry( _name:String, _items:Map[String,Object] ) = _name match{ case docName.m_Constants => new Constants( _items get( Constants m_Epsilon ), _items get( Constant m_Rho ), _items get( Constants m_N ) ) Technically it goes on but I keep getting the same errors: expected Int, Option[Object] found. How have I done my implicits wrong? I was hoping it would do the transformation for me instead of me having to write "asInstanceOf" each and every time.

    I'm wondering how to convert a List of one type to an array of another type in Java using Dozer. The two types have all the same property names/types. For example, consider these two classes. public class A{ private String test = null; public String getTest(){ return this.test } public void setTest(String test){ this.test = test; } } public class B{ private String test = null; public String getTest(){ return this.test } public void setTest(String test){ this.test = test; } } I've tried this with no luck. List<A> listOfA = getListofAObjects(); Mapper mapper = DozerBeanMapperSingletonWrapper.getInstance(); B[] bs = mapper.map(listOfA, B[].class); I've also tried using the CollectionUtils class. CollectionUtils.convertListToArray(listOfA, B.class) Neither are working for me, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? The mapper.map function works fine if I create two wrapper classes, one containing a List and the other a b[]. See below: public class C{ private List<A> items = null; public List<A> getItems(){ return this.items; } public void setItems(List<A> items){ this.items = items; } } public class D{ private B[] items = null; public B[] getItems(){ return this.items; } public void setItems(B[] items){ this.items = items; } } This works oddly enough... List<A> listOfA = getListofAObjects(); C c = new C(); c.setItems(listOfA); Mapper mapper = DozerBeanMapperSingletonWrapper.getInstance(); D d = mapper.map(listOfA, D.class); B[] bs = d.getItems(); How do I do what I want to do without using the wrapper classes (C & D)?   • How do i convert hdb file? ... believed to be from act! source

    Any ideas ? I think the original source was a goldmine database, looking around it appears that the file was likely built using an application called ACT which I gather is a huge product I don't really want to be deploying for a one off file total size less than 5 meg. So ... Anyone know of a simple tool that I can run this file through to convert it to a standard CSV or something? It does appear to be (when looking at it in notepad and excel) in some sort of csv type format but it's like the data is encrypted somehow.

    Hi! I'm trying to make a tool that can measure the quality of a fax file, comparing the received one with the one sent. I tried Phase_Correlation software, in order to see if the images are similar... but it's not enough. My purpose is to evaluate if the fax is legible after the transmission. Any ideas? Is there any way of comparing two tiffs? pdfs? or image files? Thanks a lot

  • Textarea to paragraphs

    When I have to render textarea content to the front end I usually pass it thru a function that converts newlines to <br/> tags and double newlines signal paragraph tags so blocks of text get surrounded by <p> and </p> tags. To save time I usually use a ready made PHP function from the wordpress codebase. You can get the link from the man himself: http://ma.tt/scripts/autop/ If you check it out you'll see it does some heavy lifting with about 20 regular expressions. I know I could use a wysiwyg editor (like TinyMCE or CKEditor) that can format the data on the client and then send it to the server (most of them add <p>..</p> tags by default) but I want to know the experience of others in handling raw textarea input and then displaying it on the front end.

  • Transferring a flat file database to a MySQL database

    I have a flat file database (yeah gross I know - the worst part is that it's 1.4GB), and I'm in the process of moving it to a MySQL database. The problem is that I'm not sure how to go about doing this - and I've checked through every related question on here but none relate to what I want to do, nor how my database is currently setup. My current flat file database is setup to where a normal MySQL row is its own file, and a MySQL table would be the directory. So for example if you have a user named Jon, there would be a file for the user in a directory named /members/. Within that file would be various information for the user including the users id, rank etc - all separated by tabs, all on separate lines (userid\t4). So here's an example user file: userid 4 notes staff notes: bla bla staff2 notes: bla bla bla username Example So how can I convert the above into their own rows and fields in MySQL? And if possible, could I do thousands of these files at once? Thanks.

    I have been checking out Groovy a bit and I feel that moving a Java program to Groovy little by little -- grabbing a class and making it a Groovy class, then converting the method guts a bit at a time -- might be a relatively sane way to take advantage of some of the Groovy language features. I would also do new classes in Groovy. Questions: Is this a reasonable way to convert? Can I keep all of my public methods and and fields in Java? Groovy is "just" a superset, right? What kinds of things would you not do in Groovy, but prefer Java instead?

  • Is my approach correct to replicate this form with Reportlab?

    I need to generate the form seen here using Python/reportlab. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49740282@N06/4563137758/sizes/o/ I am attempting to do this by creating a custom flowable for the header at the top (with the boxes drawn) and then having a table flowable for the jewelry table below. What shows as the JEWELRY table for this example could potentially be multiple tables. I am having trouble getting my drawn header to "flow". It gets drawn, but then my table data overlays it instead of appearing below it. This is my first project with reportlab. Before I really get into debugging this, I would like to know from someone with reportlab experience if my approach is correct here. Thanks!

  • Table borders don't display properly when converted from HTML page into MS Word 2003

    Hello everyone, I've got a bit of a complicated set up. I specialise in XSLT which I write for 3rd party system. All CSS looks fine in the browser. Now that system provides a button that converts my generated HTML into MS Word 2003. However, table borders don't convert as they appear in a Browser. There are lots of tables and they have different borders setup. For example there is one that uses only outside border and no borders inside it. When converting to MS Word, a table appears with ALL the borders in between cells. Which I don't want. I've tried search the Internet, but didn't come across anything useful. Maybe there are tips or tricks on how to set up tables borders so it's understood properly by MS Word. The third party said the following: "The system just passes the HTML created through the converter it finds in the installed version of Word". I would really appreciate any tips and help! Dasha

  • Programmatically clean Word generated HTML while preserving styles?

    In my current company, we have this decade old... let's call it a "Hello World" application. While wanting to create a newer version of it, we also want to preserve older entries. These older entries contain hideous Word generated HTML which was never filtered before. If and when we move to a newer system, I'd generally prefer to have that HTML cleaned and filtered in order to have the site comply with HTML standards as much as possible. However, just cleaning that code like Jeff Atwood described in his blog or in any other way I know of would also ruin the style and formatting. Now, that just might cause our users to revolt and then all hell will break loose... Not a very good idea. Question is -- can Word's HTML be cleaned while preserving basic formatting? (e.g: coloring, italicized, bold text and so on) Preferably using publicly available code or library, such as HTML Tidy, examples in C# would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    I have a 20-year-old project that I would like to migrate from RCS to git, without losing the history. All web pages suggest that the One True Path is through CVS. But after an hour of Googling and trying different scripts, I have yet to find anything that successfully converts my RCS project tree to CVS. I'm hoping the good people at Stackoverflow will know what actually works, as opposed to what is claimed to work and doesn't. (I searched Stackoverflow using both the native SO search and a Google search, but if there's a helpful answer in the database, I missed it.)   • Is it possible to transcode audio in C# using DirectSound?

    I want to transcode a lot of audio from its source format to PCM without resampling or messing with the sample size. I figure if Windows Media Player can play the file and it doesn't use a legacy ACM codecs it must be using DirectSound to do so (this is on Windows XP and Windows Server 2k3). So is it possible to access DirectSound from C# and do so? I've tried searching the web but all the examples have been about playback which I have no interest in doing.

    As per the question title, How could I take a hex code and convert it to a .Net Color object, and do it the other way? I googled and keep getting the same way which doesn't work. ColorTranslator.ToHtml(renderedChart.ForeColor) Which returns the name of the color as in 'White' instead of '#ffffff'! Doing it the other way seems to have odd results, only working some of the time...
