• Runtime.exec causes duplicate JVM to hang indefinitely until killed (Solaris 10)

  All, We are running a J2EE application on WebLogic server 9.2 MP2 with a jrockit 64-bit JVM (27.3.1) on Solaris 10. We call use runtime.exec to call an executable called jfmerge to create PDF documents. We have found that in Solaris, when runtime.exec is called, a duplicate JVM is temporarily spawned to kick off the jfmerge process. While this is inefficient (our JVM is 5 GB, thus the duplicated shell JVM is also 5 GB), the major problem lies in the fact that when there is heavy load on this functionality (PDF generation) in our application, sometimes the duplicated JVM never exits. When the JVM hangs, the servers create large issues (extreme application slowness and terminated user sessions) as the entire duplicate JVM get's all of its 5 GB of process size written to disk swap. • Android hidden title bar comes back

  When my app starts, the title bar is hidden. However, if I leave the app and then return (minimize or phone goes to sleep), there is a blank bar inserted at the top. Is this an intentional feature? How can I prevent it? It seems that the bar goes away after I press the menu key.   Some times whenever I restart the application, which is built on Java Struts Mysql and Jboss 4.05 Version I get the error as Address already in use: JVM_Bind Only fix that i know is to restart the machine and try again, it will work. Else Some times I do Ctrl-Alt-Del and Stop all the process related to Java, some times this also works. But what is the exact reason and how can we prevent this problem ?

• android playback suddenly stopping...

  I have an app that is streaming audio content and sometimes it just stops all of the suddent. the logcat windows shows -- AudioHardware pcm playback is going to standby and that's it. I saw on another thread (pun intended) that someone was saying it was because he was using too many threads. Could that really be causing this? Could i give the audio thread higher priority? Anyway to prevent the audio hardware pcm from going to standby?

The login works, but the returnURL is empty so it just redirects to the index page. Is there some way to manually set the returnURL ?   Hi, i've developed an android app that's fetches an xml file and displays this data via several markers on the map. This works fine so far. The problem right now is that when i switch the orientation of the phone (portrait-landscape or vice versa) the markers disappear for a small moment, the xml processing is started again and then they reappear. Is there a way to prevent this re-loading of the file? It only takes about 2-3 seconds..so no big deal, but still disturbing

  The application on which I am working has a web service exposing various methods. Most of these methods use WebOperationContext.Current to set headers up to prevent cacheing. This works fine when the service methods are consumed in AJAX via the generated proxy, but when I attempt to do the same thing from code-behind, WebOperationContext.Current is null.
