  • Why isn't Xcode building a file in my project

    I have a static library project that I inherited from another developer. I added a class to the project and built it. When I include the static lib in another project, the build fails with a symbol not found error for the class that I added. I looked at the build logs for the static lib project and I noticed that the .m file isn't compiled. The file is clearly visible in Xcode, right next to all of the other class files. Can anyone think of a reason that the file wouldn't be built? How does Xcode discover the files that it builds?

    Using m2eclipse Eclipse plugin, everybody on the dev team should be able to checkout source code, import Maven project in Eclipse and be good to go. I saw m2eclipse is being merged into Eclipse 3.7, and maven-eclipse-plugin won't be maintained any longer, so I'm looking for a m2eclipse-based solution (without running "mvn eclipse:clean eclipse:eclipse" before project import, which is what maven-eclipse-plugin does). maven-eclipse-plugin allows this in pom.xml <additionalConfig> <file> <name>.settings/com.google.gdt.eclipse.core.prefs</name> <content><![CDATA[ eclipse.preferences.version=2 jarsExcludedFromWebInfLib= warSrcDir=${project.build.directory}/${project.build.finalName} warSrcDirIsOutput=true ]]> </content> </file> The more general question is How would m2eclipse do something similar? For some cases, just saving the eclipse .settings/prefs file works (e.g. org.eclipse.jdt.ui.prefs), but in this case, com.google.gdt.eclipse.core.prefs is always overwritten on m2eclipse project import.     We are trying to write an application that uses the NServiceBus library in a VB.NET environment. We've been stymied by errors similar to the following: Reference required to assembly 'NServiceBus, Version=2.0.0.1071, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=9fc386479f8a226c' containing the implemented interface 'NServiceBus.IMessageHandler`1'. Add one to your project. Our project already includes references to NServiceBus.dll and NServiceBus.Core.dll from the same NServiceBus 2.0 RC2 distribution. Steps to reproduce: Create a new VB Class Library Project (.NET 3.5) Add NServiceBus.dll and NServiceBus.Core.dll as References. Put the following code in Class1.vb: Imports NServiceBus.Sagas.Impl Class Test Public Function Foo() As SagaMessageHandler Return Nothing End Function End Class You should now see the compiler error mentioned above. An identical project written in C# has no compile errors. Any ideas about how to solve this problem? (And, yes, my preferred solution is switching to C#, but no, that's not an acceptable one at the moment.)

  • Recommendations to handle development and deployment of php web apps using shared project code

    I am wondering what the best way (for a lone developer) is to develop a project that depends on code of other projects deploy the resulting project to the server I am planning to put my code in svn, and have shared code as a separate project. There are problems with svn:externals which I cannot fully estimate. I've read subversion:externals considered to be an anti-pattern, and How do you organize your version control repository, but there is one special thing with php-projects (and other interpreted source code): there is no final executable resulting from your libraries. External dependencies are thus always on raw source code. Ideally I really want to be able to develop simultaneously on one project and the projects it dependends on. Possible way: Check out a projects' dependency in a sub folder as a working copy of the trunk. Problems I foresee: When you want to deploy a project, you might want to freeze its dependencies, right? The dependency code should not end up as a duplicate in the projects repository, I think. *(update1: I additionally assume svn:ignore will pose problems if I cannot fall back on symlinks, see my comment) I am still looking for suggestions that do not require the use junction points. They are a sort of unsupported hack in winxp, which may break some programs* This leads me to the last part of the question (as one has influence on the other): how do you deploy apps whith such dependencies? I've looked into BuildOut for Python, but it seems to be tightly related to the python ecosystem (resolving and fetching python modules from the web etc). I am very eager to learn about your best practices.

    i'm thinking of designing and implementing a content filtering software as my graduation project. i want it to be a user contributed software. i mean, users can also add/categorize websites. it should be also a web project and extensions for browsers like chrome, firefox, ie.. my question is which programming language do you suggest for this project? i know that firefox extensions are javascript based maybe you can say use .net framework 3.5 because it's better in communication with extensions. sorry for my bad english.. btw any other suggessions about project will be good.. thx a lot.

  • Unit test project doesn't recognize the classes it was generated from

    I have a fairly simple file-system website consisting of one aspx page and several classes in separate .cs files. Everything is on my own HD. The web app itself builds and runs fine. Out of curiosity I decided to try out Visual Studio's nifty, easy-to-use unit test feature. So I opened each class file and clicked Create Unit Tests. VS generated a test project containing a set of test classes and some other files. Easy! But when I try to build or run the test project it throws a series of build errors, one for every class: The type or namespace name 'class-name' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). Somebody asked if my test project has a reference to the original project. Well no, because the original project is a file-system website. It has no bin folder and no DLL, so there's nothing to reference as far as I can tell. I would think that since VS generated these unit tests it would generate whatever references it needs, but apparently not. Is generating unit tests for file-system web apps an undocumented no-no, or is there a magic trick to getting it to work?

  • Automatically copy new Jar file to Tomcat project WEB-INF/lib folder

    I am developing a Tomcat app (actually it's a Red5 app, but this is effectively the same). This contains the usual /WebContent/WEB-INF/lib folder, which is where I locate the various jars it uses. Recently, I pulled a package out of my app project, and converted into a separate Jar project which was then released as open source (this resides in the same workspace). What I want, is that when I build my Tomcat app, that Eclipse automatically pulls the latest version of the Jar I have built into its /WebContent/WEB-INF/lib folder. This is the behaviour you get with .NET when you reference one project from another, and I guess this is why I was expecting to find some way of doing it. At the moment, I have to manually copy/paste the Jar across each time I build it. Of course, ideally when I build my Tomcat app it would automatically detect if the Jar project was up-to-date too, and build it if not. Any suggestions most gratefully received.

I am developing some plugins for Outlook using C# and this is a crucial part for both plugins.   • Another question about ASP.NET MVC and a separate project for helper classes

    I know this topic has been discussed to death, but there is one thing that I can't wrap my head around. I'm working on a Web Application using ASP.NET MVC and I come across a scenario where I need a helper class (this usually happens in the early stages of development. So I go ahead and create a helper project in my solution that I use to manage all of my Helper Classes. Now, do I have to build that project and dump the dll in the bin directory every time I make changes to is, or is there a way to have the main web application reference the classes contained within the separate project without the separate build process? I'm just looking for the easiest way to add helper classes without the hastel of building and moving the dll every time I make a change or addition. Also, sorry for the very newbie-esque question here. All of the web apps I've build in the past have all been in the same project (web forms, App_Code, etc).

  • Missing Project Template after installing ASP.NET MVC 2

    Hi, I have downloaded the ASP.NET MVC 2 Release version (using Web Platform Installer) as well as the downloading the file directly from the link in WPI. No error messages are reported after the install. When I go into Visual Web Developer and select Create New project I only the project reference to ASP.NET MVC version 1.0 and not version 2 (for clarity I have all the other project types, this is just in reference to the MVC projects). I have restarted, uninstalled and restarted and installed my PC multiple times and it still won't play. When clicking add a reference I can see the MVC.dll version 2.0.0.0 and add that no problem, but cannot manually upgrade the project since the ProjectTypeGuid used is not recognized. For reference I am using Visual Web Developer 2008 on Windows XP. ASP.NET MVC version 1.0 is working fine and without issue. Hope someone else can help. DNH

  • CCNet exception during build of vs2010 project

    We have two build machines. Lately, we've migrated our projects to vs2010 from vs2005. But the problem is that one of the machines occurs error during build. Another machine works well, but just one machine shows error. The differences between the machines are os and computer spec.   • Maven project is in a subfolder, can't get Eclipse integration to work

    Inside the folder 'ProjectName' exists several subfolders, and of them contains java program: ProjectName Specifications JavaCode Gfx ... JavaCode folder contains pom.xml. I have installed m2eclipse (0.10.x) to Eclipse and imported whole ProjectName folder to Eclipse. Subfolders are displayed correctly but maven integration is not working correctly - for example I don't see src/main/java "shortcut" folder in Eclipse, but I have to click to open all folders. If I create a new maven project with Eclipse from scratch, the integration works well. What could be the issue?

  • Two CVS projects into one SVN project

    I have two CVS projects, which I maintain in Eclipse. I check out first project, and for second project I use "checkout in existing project" option, so I'm able to maintain two CVS projects into one Eclipse project. Doing this I'm able to Tag both projects with the same tag,etc. And know, time has come to start using SVN. I was able to create two separate CVS dump files, and when I used svnadmin to load then into SVN repository, I wasn't able to keep the structure I had in CVS! So, when i import both dump seperatly into SVN I get the following structure: ProjA - brancher tags trunk ProjB bracnches tags trunk In CVS I was able to have ProjB as a child folder of the ProjA trunk! Is there any way to implement this using SVN?

  • Problem with Eclipse and a Maven multi-module project

    I have created a Maven project with the following structure: + root-project pom.xml (pom) + sub-projectA (jar) + sub-projectB (jar) I have done the following steps: mvn archetype:create –DgroupId=my.group.id –DartifactId=root-project mvn archetype:create –DgroupId=my.group.id –DartifactId=sub-projectA mvn archetype:create –DgroupId=my.group.id –DartifactId=sub-projectB So I have, obviously, in the top-level pom.xml the following elements: <modules> <module>sub-projectA</module> <module>sub-projectB</module> </modules> The last step was: mvn eclipse:clean eclipse:eclipse Now if I import the root-project in Eclipse, it seems to look at my projects as resources and not like java projects. However if I import each of child projects sub-projectA and sub-projectB, it looks them like java projects. This is a big problem for me because I have a deeper hierarchy. Any help would be appreciated!
