  • MySQL - Join as zero if record Not IN

    - by Zurahn
To explain by example, take two tables, A and B Table A id foo 1 x 2 y 3 z Table B id aid bar 1 3 50 2 1 100 An example join SELECT foo, bar FROM a, b WHERE a.id = b.aid; Garners a result of foo bar z 50 x 100 What I would like to do is get all values of foo and for any instances where there isn't a corresponding bar value, return 0 for that column. My best guess was something along the lines of SELECT foo, bar AS br FROM a, b WHERE a.id = b.aid OR a.id NOT IN (SELECT aid FROM b); But that returns duplicates and non-zero values for bar. Possible?

  • When I Add <DIV> Bottom Scroll Bar Appears, Even Though It Is Not Greater Than The Page Width

    - by Clay Dempsey
I have searched for this with no answer. My page loads up perfectly when I load the header, navigation and then center image...all 3 different divs. However I have more I need to add and the div tags change the size of the page even though the css I'm using isn't larger than the page. I have no idea what is happening. Here's the code page where everything is fine: http://www.thehdmgroup.com/midwaymissionary/test.php When I add the below div tag with the below css I get a bottom scrollbar on the page and I don't know why. Can someone please explain it to me? #middleTextBox1 { position: absolute; top:507px; left:172px; width:180px; height:180px; background-color:#411b42; border: 1px solid #434343; padding:10px; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } <div id="middleTextBox1"> <h3 align="center">Mission:</h3> Words </div> I really have no idea why this is happening, could someone please help me out? Thanks for your time.

  • error: polymorphic expression with default arguments

    - by 0__
This following bugs me: trait Foo[ A ] class Bar[ A ]( set: Set[ Foo[ A ]] = Set.empty ) This yields <console>:8: error: polymorphic expression cannot be instantiated to expected type; found : [A]scala.collection.immutable.Set[A] required: Set[Foo[?]] class Bar[ A ]( set: Set[ Foo[ A ]] = Set.empty ) ^ It is quite annoying that I have to repeat the type parameter in Set.empty. Why does the type inference fail with this default argument? The following works: class Bar[ A ]( set: Set[ Foo[ A ]] = { Set.empty: Set[ Foo[ A ]]}) Please note that this has nothing to do with Set in particular: case class Hallo[ A ]() class Bar[ A ]( hallo: Hallo[ A ] = Hallo.apply ) // nope Strangely not only this works: class Bar[ A ]( hallo: Hallo[ A ] = Hallo.apply[ A ]) ...but also this: class Bar[ A ]( hallo: Hallo[ A ] = Hallo() ) // ???

  • PHP5: restrict access to function to certain classes

    - by Tim
Is there a way in PHP5 to only allow a certain class or set of classes to call a particular function? For example, let's say I have three classes ("Foo", "Bar", and "Baz"), all with similarly-named methods, and I want Bar to be able to call Foo::foo() but deny Baz the ability to make that call: class Foo { static function foo() { print "foo"; } } class Bar { static function bar() { Foo::foo(); print "bar"; } // Should work } class Baz { static function baz() { Foo::foo; print "baz"; } // Should fail } Foo::foo(); // Should also fail There's not necessarily inheritance between Foo, Bar, and Baz, so the use of protected or similar modifiers won't help; however, the methods aren't necessarily static (I made them so here for the simplicity of the example).

  • CouchDB Lucene How to URL Encode Query containing Minus (-)

    - by Peter
I'd like to query text containing a minus (-) Sign, e.g. foo-bar with a couchdb lucene fulltext query. Following lucene rules I'd have to escape the minus, resulting in foo\-bar Last I'd have to urlencode the backslash resulting in foo%5C-bar So the complete url would be: http://127.0.0.1:5984/_fti/local/db/_design/foo/by_subject?q=foo%5C-bar Neither works. The result is always split in two phrases "q":"default:foo default:bar" Leading to documents containing only foo or bar being found also. Thanks for your help!

  • Hot to get rid of memory allocations/deallocations in swig wrappers?

    - by Dmitriy Matveev
I want to use swig for generation of read-only wrappers for a complex object. The object which I want to wrap will always be existent while I will read it. And also I will only use my wrappers at the time that object is existent, thus I don't need any memory management from SWIG. For following swig interface: %module test %immutable; %inline %{ struct Foo { int a; }; struct Bar { int b; Foo f; }; %} I will have a wrappers which will have a lot of garbage in generated interfaces and do useless work which will reduce performance in my case. Generated java wrapper for Bar class will be like this: public class Bar { private long swigCPtr; protected boolean swigCMemOwn; protected Bar(long cPtr, boolean cMemoryOwn) { swigCMemOwn = cMemoryOwn; swigCPtr = cPtr; } protected static long getCPtr(Bar obj) { return (obj == null) ? 0 : obj.swigCPtr; } protected void finalize() { delete(); } public synchronized void delete() { if (swigCPtr != 0) { if (swigCMemOwn) { swigCMemOwn = false; testJNI.delete_Bar(swigCPtr); } swigCPtr = 0; } } public int getB() { return testJNI.Bar_b_get(swigCPtr, this); } public Foo getF() { return new Foo(testJNI.Bar_f_get(swigCPtr, this), true); } public Bar() { this(testJNI.new_Bar(), true); } } I don't need 'swigCMemOwn' field in my wrapper since it always will be false. All code related to this field will also be useless. There are also unnecessary logic in native code: SWIGEXPORT jlong JNICALL Java_some_testJNI_Bar_1f_1get(JNIEnv *jenv, jclass jcls, jlong jarg1, jobject jarg1_) { jlong jresult = 0 ; struct Bar *arg1 = (struct Bar *) 0 ; Foo result; (void)jenv; (void)jcls; (void)jarg1_; arg1 = *(struct Bar **)&jarg1; result = ((arg1)->f); { Foo * resultptr = (Foo *) malloc(sizeof(Foo)); memmove(resultptr, &result, sizeof(Foo)); *(Foo **)&jresult = resultptr; } return jresult; } I don't need these calls to malloc and memmove. I want to force swig to resolve both of these problems, but don't know how. Is it possible?

  • Can I use string concatenation to define a class CONST in PHP?

    - by selfsimilar
I know that you can create global constants in terms of each other using string concatenation: define('FOO', 'foo'); define('BAR', FOO.'bar'); echo BAR; will print 'foobar'. However, I'm getting an error trying to do the same using class constants. class foobar { const foo = 'foo'; const foo2 = self::foo; const bar = self::foo.'bar'; } foo2 is defined without issue, but declaring const bar will error out Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.', expecting ',' or ';' I've also tried using functions like sprintf() but it doesn't like the left paren any more than the string concatenator '.'. So is there any way to create class constants in terms of each other in anything more than a trivial set case like foo2?

  • Apache/PHP is determined to serve the wrong file

    - by Lucas
I have a page that is called with a url like http://testserver/path/to/foo/bar/ but apache is serving the wrong file altogether. /path/to/ is a real directory where all the code and .htaccess file is. foo/bar/ is supposed to redirect to foo_bar.php with a RewriteRule, but it never gets there. It's not a mod_rewrite issue as I have commented out all the rules that could be interfering, which should give me 404s for that request, but the same problem occurs: the file that is served is /path/to/foo.php, so in it I var_dump $_SERVER and get: REQUEST_URI = /path/to/foo/bar/ SCRIPT_NAME = /path/to/foo.php SCRIPT_FILENAME = /real/path/to/foo.php PATH_INFO = /bar/ PATH_TRANSLATED = /real/bar/ PHP_SELF = /path/to/foo.php/bar/ Why is this request being routed to this file at all?

  • Does the order of conditions in a WHERE clause affect MySQL performance?

    - by Greg
Say that I have a long, expensive query, packed with conditions, searching a large number of rows. I also have one particular condition, like a company id, that will limit the number of rows that need to be searched considerably, narrowing it down to dozens from hundreds of thousands. Does make any difference to MySQL performance whether I do this: SELECT * FROM clients WHERE (firstname LIKE :foo OR lastname LIKE :foo OR phone LIKE :foo) AND (firstname LIKE :bar OR lastname LIKE :bar OR phone LIKE :bar) AND company = :ugh or this: SELECT * FROM clients WHERE company = :ugh AND (firstname LIKE :foo OR lastname LIKE :foo OR phone LIKE :foo) AND (firstname LIKE :bar OR lastname LIKE :bar OR phone LIKE :bar)

  • Manipulating Directory Paths in Python

    - by G Ullman
Basically I've got this current url and this other key that I want to merge into a new url, but there are three different cases. Suppose the current url is localhost:32401/A/B/foo if key is bar then I want to return localhost:32401/A/B/bar if key starts with a slash and is /A/bar then I want to return localhost:32401/A/bar finally if key is its own independent url then I just want to return that key = htt p://foo.com/bar - http://foo.com/bar I assume there is a way to do at least the first two cases without manipulating the strings manually, but nothing jumped out at me immediately in the os.path module.

  • How to extract the current state of the registry? (in C/C++, XP)

    - by Doori Bar
I was wondering how one might extract the current state of the registry, of Windows XP, in C or C++? (While the OS is active). I been trying to use BackupRead() on the registry-files, but it is impossible to CreateFile() them. I managed to create a Shadow Copy of the registry-files, but it wasn't the current state of the registry. Would appreciate any hint... (I know ERUNT is able to do it) Thanks, Doori Bar

  • Are conditional subqueries optimized out, if the condition is false?

    - by Tobias Schulte
I have a table foo and a table bar, where each foo might have a bar (and a bar might belong to multiple foos). Now I need to select all foos with a bar. My sql looks like this SELECT * FROM foo f WHERE [...] AND ($param IS NULL OR (SELECT ((COUNT(*))>0) FROM bar b WHERE f.bar = b.id)) with $param being replaced at runtime. The question is: Will the subquery be executed even if param is null, or will the dbms optimize the subquery out? We are using mysql, mssql and oracle. Is there a difference between these regarding the above?

  • bash tools for parsing arguments

    - by BCS
I have a bash script that uses a few variables (call them $foo and $bar). Right now the script defines them at the top with hard coded values like this: foo=fooDefault bar=barDefault .... # use $foo and $bar What I want is to be able to use the script like any of these: myscript # use all defaults myscript -foo=altFoo # use default bar myscript -bar=altBar # use default foo myscript -bar=altBar -foo=altFoo An ideal solution would allow me to just list the variable that I want to check for flags for. Is there a reasonably nice way to do this? I've seen getopt and I think it might do about 70% of what I'm looking for but I'm wondering if there is a tool or indium that builds on it or the like that gets the rest.

  • Declare variables that depend on unknown type in template functions.

    - by rem
Suppose I'm writing a template function foo that has type parameter T. It gets an object of type T that must have method bar(). And inside foo I want to create a vector of objects of type returned by bar. In GNU C++ I can write something like that: template<typename T> void foo(T x) { std::vector<__typeof(x.bar())> v; v.push_back(x.bar()); v.push_back(x.bar()); v.push_back(x.bar()); std::cout << v.size() << std::endl; } How to do the same thing in Microsoft Visual C++? Is there some way to write this code that works in both GNU C++ and Visual C++?

  • How to define a custom iterator in C++

    - by Robert Martin
I've seen a number of posts on SO about how to define custom iterators, but nothing that seems to exactly answers my question, which is... How do I create an iterator that hides a nested for loop? For instance, I have a class Foo, inside of the Foo is a Bar, and inside of the Bar is a string. I could write for (const Foo& foo : foo_set) for (const Bar& bar : foo.bar_set) if (bar.my_string != "baz") cout << bar.my_string << endl; but instead I want to be able to do something like: for (const string& good : foo_set) cout << good << endl; How do I do something like this?

  • Index a mysql table of 3 integer fields

    - by Doori Bar
I have a mysql table of 3 integer fields. None of the fields have a unique value - but the three of them combined are unique. When I query this table, I only search by the first field. Which approach is recommended for indexing such table? Having a multiple-field primary key on the 3 fields, or setting an index on the first field, which is not unique? Thanks, Doori Bar

  • int foo(type& bar); is a bad practice?

    - by Earlz
Well, here we are. Yet another proposed practice that my C++ book has an opinion on. It says "a returning-value(non-void) function should not take reference types as a parameter." So basically if you were to implement a function like this: int read_file(int& into){ ... } and used the integer return value as some sort of error indicator (ignoring the fact that we have exceptions) then that function would be poorly written and it should actually be like void read_file(int& into, int& error){ } Now to me, the first one is much clearer and nice to use. If you want to ignore the error value, you do so with ease. But this book suggests the later. Note that this book does not say returning value functions are bad. It rather says that you should either only return a value or you should only use references. What are your thoughts on this? Is my book full of crap? (again)
