  • Question about Jboss deployment

    Hi All, I am new to Jboss and deployment of web applications etc. I have two different war files deployed on the same Jboss server. Further they also share some classes which read different properties based on the application settings (Let's call a common class as CommonClass.class which is present in App1.war and App2.war; CommonClass has a member "FIELD1", so both these war files have CommonClass.class each of which reads different properties, into CommonClass.FIELD1). But during run-time when I access FIELD1 in one application (App2.war-CommonClass.FIELD1) it has the value from another application (App1.war-CommonClass.FIELD1). Is there any way I can explicitly specify so that JBoss treats these classes and fields to be different? so that both these classes can exist in memory yet hold their respective correct values?   • Newbie Android question

    Hi folks, I have just started with Android with the usual Hello World project template in Eclipse. I modified the layout XML and removed the label that says "Hello World, !", and added a couple of other controls. However, these are not reflected in the app, within the emulator. When I run this app from Eclipse again it is still showing the Hello World label! I'm sure it's something terribly simple that I have completely missed. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Many thanks, Dany.

    Hi, I've peen looking at the PE/COFF format and it seems to be missing a few things about extensions to the format. Specifically, I'm trying to learn about ECOFF and ANON objects. from what I can tell, those're just two names for the same thing, which is also known as a BIGOBJ. The BIGOBJ allows you to create, surprise surprise, larger object files than the format otherwise allows. Can anyone confirm or correct this? Thanks

  • Rails Foreign key setup question.

    I'm just (re)starting playing around with Rails and I'm making a little card game app. I cannot seem to figure out my Foreign Key setups. Say I have 4 objects: - Game - Player - Hand - Card A Game has many Players, which have many Hands which have many Cards. But the cards are also independent of a Hand, Player and Game. For example, I have 6 Cards in my database (1 to 6). It is possible that Card 3 could be in 2 Players Hands in the same Game. How can I set up my keys for this? Should I just create another object for "CardInHand" to simplify it?

  • Newbie question about Java

    Okay, I know that Java is a language but somebody has asked me if they can write a web application to interface in with a web app I've written in ASP.NET. I'm implementing a web service to serve up an XML so it's pretty language agnostic. However, I'm not 100% sure whether going down the Java route makes a lot of sense. I was kind of expecting PHP or ASP.NET server side code with maybe some Ajax/JavaScript or maybe a heavier client JavaScript program using JScript. Could some kind sole explain the basic Java environment when it comes with webapps. I've inferred the following - am I barking up the right tree? Java when run like ASP.NET is called JSP JavaBeans is a bit like the .NET framework, i.e. it's a library of re-usable components Java EE is a bit like ASP.NET in that it's a framework for building web pages on a server Java can also run on the client but it needs the Java VM installing When running Java on the client, can you use JavaBeans and is there a framework? Can it also use JScript? I don't think so as JScript is JavaScript library. Whilst running Java on the server would be okay, this is a relatively small application and therefore Java sounds like a bit of overkill. PHP or ASP.NET feels a better fit. But I don't think they should go down the Java applet in the browser and it adds complexity that's not needed. Thanks, Rob.

    I got a function like def f(): ... ... return [list1, list2] this returns a list of lists [[list1.item1,list1.item2,...],[list2.item1,list2.item2,...]] now when I do the following: for i in range(0,2):print f()[i][0:10] it works and print the lists sliced but if i do print f()[0:2][0:10] then it prints the lists ignoring the [0:10] slicing. Is there any way to make the second form work or do I have to loop every time to get the desired result?

    I have the following code: [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.5 target:self selector:@selector(timerCount:) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; -(void)timerCount:(NSTimer *)timer { NSTimeInterval dt = [timer timeInterval]; // do something } The NSTimeInterval I got will be 0.5, the time interval I've put on scheduledTimerWithInterval, this means the timerCount will be called each 0.5 seconds. But I now that there are some stuff as timeStamps, and I want to know if the NSTimer will call the timerCount method in PRECISELY 0.5 seconds each time.

  • Precompiled headers question

    Hello! I am right now reorganizing my project and what recently was a simple application now became a pair of C++ projects - static library and real application. I would like to share one precompiled header between two projects, but face some troubles with setting up the .pdb file paths. Assume my first project is called Library and builds it's .lib file with a corresponding Library.pdb file. Now, the second project is called Application and builds everything into the same folder (.exe and another Application.pdb file). Right now my both projects create their own precompiled headers file (Library.pch and Application.pch) based on one actual header file. It works, but I think it's a waste of time and I also think there should be a way to share one precompiled header between two projects. If in my Application project I try to set the Use Precompiled Header (/Yu) option and set it to Library.pch, it wouldn't work, because of the following error: error C2858: command-line option 'program database name "Application.pdb" inconsistent with precompiled header, which used "Library.pdb". So, does anyone know some trick or way to share one precompiled header between two projects preserving proper debug information?

  • Long overdue (for me) question about disposing managed objects in .Net, VB.Net, C#

    I can't believe I'm still confused about this but, any way, lets finally nail it: I have a class that overrides OnPaint to do some drawing. To speed things up, I create the pens, brushes etc before hand, in the construtor, so that OnPaint does not need to keep creating and disposing them. Now, I make sure that I always dispose of such objects, but I have the feeling I don't need to because, despite the fact they implement IDisposable, they're managed objects. Is this correct?

  • General Drools Question

    For the last few months my company has been using a product from a company called Informatica (previously AgentLogic) called RulePoint. This product has proven itself very easy to use with a well-developed and easy-to-use SDK for customization. The way we use the product for CEP is fairly trivial, we have 2 sources which we monitor for our rule data, the first being a JMS Queue, the second being a Jabber IM account. The product runs on any java-based application server (WebLogic, Tomcat, etc) and runs just about flawlessly. Last week my boss says, "Hey, I've heard that we may be able to do the same thing we are doing with RulePoint with an open-source product called Drools. Check it out and let me know what you think." I've heard of people using Drools for flow-based operations (validation, etc), however, I've never heard of anyone using their CEP product (Fusion) in practice. So, being the diligent worker, I have undertaken this task. I've downloaded all the files (version 5.0) and accompanying documentation and have started to read. I've read through just about all the docs and run most of the examples, but I still don't really see HOW drools works for CEP. While there are examples for using Data (or Facts, I guess) from JMS, I don't see how this thing stays "running", continuously monitoring a queue until the application is actually stopped. RulePoint pretty must just sits and listens, however, Drools seems to not. I could probably write a full-blown command-line application for our needs, however, I was hoping to leverage some of the benefits of using a application server provides. I guess I'm looking for some good tutorials or an example of how someone is using Drools and CEP in production. Thanks in advanced for any information, advice you may be able to provide.

  • Quick question - how to comment if-else structure?

    Lets say you have: if(condition) { i = 1; } else { i = 2; } and you need to put comments explaining if and else blocks. What's the most readable way of doing it so someone can easily pick them up at first glance? I usually do it like this: //check for condition if(condition) { i = 1; } else { //condition isn't met i = 2; } which I find not good enough as comments are located at different levels, so at quick glance you would just pick up if comment and else comment would look like it belongs to some inner structure. Putting them like this: if(condition) { //check for condition i = 1; } else { //condition isn't met i = 2; } doesn't look good to me either as it would seem like the whole structure is not commented (condition might be big and take multiple lines). Something like that: //check for condition if(condition) { i = 1; //condition isn't met } else { i = 2; } would be probably the best style from comments point of view but confusing as a code structure. How do you comment such blocks?

    So I'm using a basic formmail script. Within the script I'm using a redirect variable. The value of the redirect is something like,"http://www.mysite.com/NewOLS_GCUK_EN/bling.aspx?BC=GCUK&IBC=CSEE&SIBC=CSEE" When the redirect action happens however, the url appears in the browser as: http://www.mysite.com/NewOLS_GCUK_EN/bling.aspx?BC=GCUK&amp;IBC=CSEE&amp;SIBC=CSEE you can see the &'s are replaced with "& a m p ;" is there any way to fix this?     So I have my app working good when you press and drag along. I also have UIButtons set to Touch Down in Interface Builder. As well when you drag you need to drag from the outside of the UIButton.   • Question - Setting dynamic HTML using Javascript to iFrames on Windows Mobile 6.1 - IE Mobile6

    Hi Experts, (excuse me if this is not the right forum to post - i couldn't find anything related to non-native programming and related to this topic) I Am trying to set a dynamic HTML into an iFrame on the webpage. I have tried a couple of things but none of them seem to work. I m able to read the innerHTML but can't seem to update it. // Able to read using document.getElementById('iFrameIdentifier').innerHTML; // On Desktop IE, this code works document.getElementById('iFrameId').contentWindow.document.open(); document.getElementById('iFrameId').contentWindow.document.write(dynamicHTML); document.getElementById('iFrameId').contentWindow.document.close(); Ideally the same function should work as how it works for div's but it says 'Object doesn't support this method or property". I have also tried document.getElementById('iFrameId').document.body.innerHTML. This apparently replaces the whole HTML of the page and not just the innerHTML. I have tried out a couple of things and they didn't work document.getElementById('iFrameId').body.innerHTML document.frames[0].document.body.innerHTML My purpose is to have a container element which can contain dynamic HTML that's set to it. I've been using it well till now when I observed that the setting innerHTML on a div is taking increasing amount of time because of the onClicks or other JS methods that are attached to the anchors and images in the dynamic HTML. Appears the JS methods or the HTML is some how not getting cleaned up properly (memory leak?)   • Windows hosts file and IIS binding question

    I'm building a few SharePoint sites, and I want to make use of zones so I may set security different in the various zones. My workstation has a local SharePoint, and I use it for development. My workstation has a static IP, and is connected to the internet. When I make a SharePoint site, I want to add a host header, for instance, devbox.com. I do not own this name, nor do I want to. I then add an entry in my hosts file, but when I surf to http://devbox.com:8080, it does not resolve. Do I need to register the name I want to use, or should this work, i.e., have my hosts file resolve names/IPs first?
