    Hello, I'd like to setup a fresh root server and install a linux based virtualization on it. My thoughts are on: Intel VTs Hardware Ubuntu 9.10 KVM based virt. The access to the root server will only be SSH for Administration. Has anybody done this before, what was your glues discovered in the daily use? My requirements are: very secure, so the root server only has ssh to the dom-0 and minimalistic ports for the guest (e.g. http/s). good monitoring of host/guest (my idea is to using zabbix for it) easy and fast administration (how are the command line tools working for you? cryptiv? high learning curve?)     I have a site http://social.openitup.in right now what you are seeing is a default Tomcat6 page. I am using mod_ajp as a front end and Apache vhost configuration for same is <VirtualHost *:80 > ServerName social.openitup.in ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ProxyRequests off <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPreserveHost On ProxyPass / ajp://192.168.1.19:8009/ ProxyPassReverse / ajp://192.168.1.19:8009/ </VirtualHost> How ever I have an application running on it http://social.openitup.in/olat what I want to do is when some one opens http://social.openitup.in then rather than seeing Tomcat6 home page from /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/ROOT/index.html the person is redirected to olat application which is in /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/olat how can this be achived? The above vhost configuration is on a machine separate than where OLAT is running.

  • rsync - how to set/keep directory permissions?

    I'm using CwRsync to connect from my Windows development machine to a linux webserver : rsync -avuz -e ./ssh --exclude=".svn" /cygdrive/c/xampp/htdocs/project123/ [email protected]:/home/user123/public_html This syncs my development project directory nicely and fast to the server. But after doing this, all directory properties are reset to the local user 'user123' only, so the website is not available anymore. I need to manually reset those properties. Why is this happening, and how to prevent it? PS. coming from a Windows environment I'm having a really hard time understanding rsync. I copied the above command from some examples... just need to get this one small thing working too...

    Hello, gcc 4.4.4 c89 I got into a recent discussion about "fixed width strings" and "zero terminated strings". When I think about this. They seem to be the same thing. A string with a terminating null. i.e. char *name = "Joe bloggs"; Is a fixed width string that cannot be changed. And also has a terminating null. Also in the discussion I was told that strncpy should never been used on 'zero terminated strings'. Many thanks for any susgestions,

When I use this command to mount devices: sudo mount -t cifs -o username=admin //192.168.1.134/share_name /mnt/share_name With passwords: sudo="local user password" password="password for device" How do I translate that into an fstab entry? So far, I have tried this in the fstab and mounting fails: //192.168.1.134/share_name /mnt/share_name cifs default 0 0 This is where the question comes in. Where I have default, should there be something instead, indicating username=admin, etc?

The fql which is happening at the web is giving me right results but the fql happening at the iphone is not giving all the results. select name, pic_square, pic_big, uid, sex, birthday, relationship_status , current_location, meeting_sex, interests, music, tv, movies, books, quotes, education_history, work_history from user where uid = XXXXXXX is giving me different result in web when compared to the iphone.   • Raid on ICH9R chip set

    Hi Im looking at buyign this MB: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/ATOM/ICH9/X7SPE-HF-D525.cfm Im wondering though if the chipset will support the raid configuration I need. Im looking to configure the following arrays: raid array 1: 2 2TB Disks in Raid 0 raid array 2: 2 2TB Disks in Raid 0 raid array 3 (not actualy an array): 1 300GB Disk not in raid, to be used for OS and boot. So in total there would be 5 drives and the board supports 6. so im good when it comes to connections. However I have herd some chip sets only support one raid array (volume). so either all drives are individual, or are in the array. I must have 2 sperate raid arrays independent of each other, and a 5th drive not in any array. Anybody know if this setup will work? Thanks, -Stewart
