8007064c(2011) and 80280007(2009) persistant after all known repairs

I'm on Windows 7 Home x64, and have ran into a major issue with Live Messenger(which I use daily). I have full offline installers for both 2011 and the last Wave 3 2009(14.0.8117.0416) Suites. Both give the following errors: Live Essentials 2011 Offline installer(official): An unknown error occured. Error:0x8007064c Source WLXSuite WL 2009 offline installer(official): You already have a more recent version of Windows Live. Error: OnCatalogResult:0x80280007 Next steps: If you want to install this older version, first uninstall any later versions that are on your computer. Get help with this error The 2011 installer also says it is updating messenger, I don't select anything else. Then last 2009 installer says their is a newer version that needs uninstalled even after the following procedures. MS Help pages provided all basically lead to using uninstall from control panel. Which I've uninstalled all Live components including watcom safety scanner and portable SQL from. I've followed online instructions for manually deleting folders from Program Files(x86), Appdata, and some others under \User\All Users and the one for the one account on the machine. I've used CCcleaner 3.01, ASC 3.7.3 and Beta 4 with deep scan along with deleting folders, and checked their uninstallers for Live components too, and none were there. wlmuninstaller.exe tool reports nothing, but after a failed install it finds something, but failes to clean it under all user admin privilege. The same errors still occur after all of that. Google searching I see people on forums suggesting reinstalling the OS cause MS doesn't even know how to fix this, but I'm hoping someone here can help. NOTE: I don't have System Restore or any other state freeze utilities going, and I don't have any real time AV going(I sometime scan with defender, anti rootkits, and online scanners). How to run a website domain without redirecting if IP is already used for another website? [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here: Hosting multiple distinct folders for distinct domains 1 answer I bought a VPS Host that gave me only 1 IP Address which I used on my first domain name and it works without any problems. Now my second domain name I can't use the same ip address as it points to the first domain name. So I figured my only option was to use a GoDaddy hosted iframe redirection which redirects to a sub folder on my first domain which worked so far. Now I'm trying to load paypal from <?php headers() ?> and I get a permission error because of that iframe Refused to display 'https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?notify_url=&cmd=_cart&upload=1&business=removed&address_override=1' in a frame because it set 'X-Frame-Options' to 'SAMEORIGIN'. How do I avoid the Iframe solution for my second domain while not messing up my first domain? Somebody I forgot once told me it doesn't matter if you have 1 IP Address you could host multiple websites on it? how it that possible the DNS doesn't seem to work off ports afaik, yes I could host multiple websites on different folders but that's not what I call hosting a real website it has to be pointed by a domain name, so this iframe issue doesn't happen My server configuration is httpd (apache) that comes with CentOS 6 (Linux) operating system

Map FTP folder to folder on different FTP server

In my team we work a lot with FTP. We upload and download files from several different servers daily. Currently every member of the team manages access credentials to each FTP server locally on their own machine. I am looking for a way to set up a central FTP server that we can connect to, and from there, navigate to folders that each represent one of the other FTP servers that we connect to daily. Something like this: In-house central FTP server: |- FolderA --> server A root folder |- FolderB --> server B root folder |- FolderC --> server C root folder A setup like this, would mean that we can manage access credentials on the central FTP server, and team members would only need to have the access credentials to the central FTP server, and from there they could navigate to the other servers through these "virtual" folders. We could potentially develop our own custom FTP server that just forward requests to the remote FTP servers, but i feel like something like this (or something similar) would already have been done. So I'm looking for pointers that could help us find software for Windows that could help us to simplify our current setup. Thank you! Similar (unanswered) question here: FTP management server

Apache and linux file permissions

I recently moved a Symfony 1.3.2 website (a PHP web framework), from a windows machine to Linux (Ubuntu 9.10). Ever since then, I have had all kinds of problems involving file permission (even though the app run without any of these problems on windows). I run symfony fix-perms which applied a 777 mask to the web directory (presumably, including its sub folders) - (as an aside) I think that is a potential security hole ... I have been meaning to come in here to ask how to correctly set permissions. Windows7 shows a drive as full in summary but files, including backup folder, shown on drive are ver

I have a drive partitioned so it is seen by Windows as 2 drives: C:\ and D:\ Windows7 shows D:\ as full up in the graphical summary in 'My Computer' summary of all the drives, e.g. the bar graph indicates full and nearly all of the drive's capacity, 108Gb, is full. So I go into the D:\ drive to look at the files, I see several folders. I select them all and the right click menu Properties to count their size, expecting the value to be about the same as what Windows reports in the summary, i.e. nearly 108Gb. But the properties shows the files are very small, Kbs and Mbs, nowhere near 108Gbs. One of the folders is a backup, but its size is very small. I've checked the folder options to show all system files and hidden files too - and counted these in the properties. Something invisible is holding the space. What is happening here? I'm afraid to delete anything if it removes valuable backups. Have I got huge backups here? Why can't I see them? How do I see them?

How can I copy a VMware Fusion virtual machine to a FAT32 partition?

I created the virtual machine on a host running OS X. I then moved the machine to a FAT32 partition on an external drive. It moved the first time without error. Then I moved it from the external drive to a host running Ubuntu 9.10. I had to move to a FAT32 partition first because Ubuntu doesn't recognize Mac OS Extended partitions on the drive. So, the virtual machine (vm) ran on the ubuntu host for a while and then I moved it back to the FAT32 partition and from there back to the OS X host. I worked on the vm for a while on the OS X host and then attempted to move it back to the FAT32 partition. I get the following system error: The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “my-virtual-machine” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36) Interestingly, I can move the file to another OS X partition, just not FAT32. I also perused VMware's forums and found advice to set permissions on all files and folders to 777. I did this, but have had no success. I notice the the files within the vm package are 777 now, but there is an extended attributes symbol on their permission details "rwxrwxrwx@" Since I can copy the vm between OS X partitions, but not to non OS X partitions, and all files and folders withing the vm package and the package itself have permissions of 777, I speculate that the "@" is the problem. How can I remove the "@" or is there something else I need to modify to allow me to copy/move the vm to other hosts?

Exchange backup verification shows no files

[SBS2003SP2] If i read the exhange log it shows the backup contains no files just folders and the total size seems to be Ok. I i try to restore the folders are empty... But the 14 files that where backupped dissapeared in the verification log?! Other backups on the same medium turned out to be fine. Any idea what's wrong here? Limit copssh users to home directory Windows 7

Hello all- I have found these two sites below: CopSSH SFTP -- limit users access to their home directory only and http://blogs.windowsnetworking.com/wnadmin/2006/11/07/copssh-restricting-users-access/ as well as the Copssh website, but upon completion they do not seem to work. I have copssh installed and I have a separate Windows account "sftpuser" created that is used to connect. The connection works just fine, but I want to limit that user to just their home directory and sub folders. I have 3 hard drives, the C:, a W: and an S: and I want the FTP account to only be able to access the W: drive and its contents (the root of the W: drive is the FTP home directory). Right now "sftpuser" can access all folders, including jump drives to C:, and S:. The linked tutorials do not seem to work, because it seems when I create a group "ftpusersgroup" and add "sftpuser" to the group, and then deny "ftpusersgroup" access to the C: drive, the service breaks and I can no longer login. I have undone everything and am ready to start fresh. Does anyone know how to do this, or is there a better tutorial that someone has or has found? I hope this makes sense. FTP issues with Windows 2003 box and Filezilla

We've set up a Windows 2003 server with IIS 6 and the FTP is Filezilla. I'm not a sys admin by any means and neither is my other developer. I'm trying to connect to FTP on a Mac with a Cyberduck FTP client. I'm running OSX 10.6.3. The problem is that I can connect to the FTP address, but when I do it will hang for a minute or two trying to list the directories. This address is pointed to the webroot folder so it's only trying to list the pertinent folders for the site we're working on. Eventually after a minute or two it will go through and list everything and then if you try and open a file or another folder, it will hang again and then eventually list the folders. My question: Is there some stupid default setting we're missing? Is this a common occurrence? Like I said I'm not a sys admin at all and I'm sure I'm missing some valuable questions for anyone that reads this, so please fire away if you can help and you need more info, I'll do my best to provide it. Non-alphanumeric character folder name auto-completion problems

I have been working with Windows 7's command line and have some folders that begin with non-alphanumeric characters. When I try to use tab completion to complete the folder name, the initial character is not included inside of the quotation marks. Example: C:\Users\username\!example is the folder I want to get into, but when I type: cd ! and press <Tab> to autocomplete, it will complete to cd !"!example" instead of the expected cd "!example" Any ideas on how to fix this besides changing the folder names? EDIT: I realize I could just tab through the entire list after entering cd, but I'm looking for a way to speed up the process. I have been spending a significant amount of time navigating these folders. UPDATE: This also happens if there is a space in the directory. For example: "c:\Program Files". In order to continue using tab to complete, first the second quote has to be deleted. C:\Program press Tab "C:\Program Files" is what appears. To navigate to a subdirectory, first the quote after Program Files has to be deleted before the next directory can be spelled out.

how could application installations/configurations be easier in linux?

although you can do anything in linux it tends to require a lot of tweaking in config files and reading a lot of manuals/tutorials before you can have it running in your way. i know that it gets a lot easier by time, and the apt-get installations with ubuntu/debian is heading the right way. but how can linux be more userfriendly for us in the future? i thought that if more is automated like an IDE environment, eg. typing svn will give us all the commands and description about each command when you move between commands with your keyboard. that would be great. but that's just one example. another is the navigation in the terminal between folders. now you have to type a lot just to jump from/to different folders. would be great with some more automatization here too. i know that these extra features will slow down the server, but its 2010 now, and these features are not that heavy for the cpu, but makes it more userfriendly and encourage maintainance of a server, not frighten u off. what do you think about this? should/could we have more user friendly linux environment in servers, something that has annoyed you a lot? a lot of things are done in the unix way, but maybe we should reinvent the wheel in some areas, cause apparently, its so...repeatingly today and difficult to do easy tasks. it should be easier i think..

Mirroring the Global Address List on Blackberries

In times immemorial, back in the day when men were men and blackberries still took AA batteries, we rolled them out to our users for our 100 person operation. At that time, there was no such thing as address list lookups, so we were forced to hack a bit. The ingenious hack we came up with was to mirror the GAL as a public folder and then synch up blackberries to that. While there have been a few downsides here and there, they have been mere annoyances. And our users, having grown fat and prosperous in the intervening years, have been used to seeing every single employee and department here listed on their hand-held automatically. Alas, it appears that Outlook 2010 breaks this functionality as Blackberry desktop manager is completely incompatible with it. Moreover, this presents us with an opportunity to change things for the better given that public folders are going away next time we upgrade exchange. So, we are in search of a tool or technique that will allow us to mimic current functionality--that is to: Push an essentially arbitrary list of ~100 contacts to blackberry address books Said list shall be centrally updated Without requiring desktop manager or exchange public folders. Any suggestions, crowd?

NAS is intermittently inaccessible

Model: QNAP TS-410 Turbo NAS Firmware version: 3.2.5 Build 0409T Issue: Each day, users connect to share folders on the NAS system and have read/write permissions for the share folders to which they need access. However, it often asks them for their log-in details and - when provided with right (or wrong) credentials for a user with read/write permissions - it denies them access. Windows 8 Pro Homegroup Not Allowing Access to Shared Files

I have two pc's and a laptop. With all three running Windows 7, homegroup worked perfectly, with all computers able to access the files on the others exactly as one would expect. I installed Windows 8 Pro, which I downloaded recently from the MSDN website, on the laptop. From the info on the MSDN website, I believe the version downloaded is the official release version, not a release candidate. The install preserved all settings, apps, and files. I cannot connect to the homegroup from the laptop. Well, not exactly. I joined the homegroup during the install, and later left and rejoined, that was advertised as being offered by one of the pc's (not sure why that one was picked and not the other or both). This homegroup appears in my "computer" folder in the file explorer, offering files from that pc. But it excludes documents (only the music, pix, videos, and playlists folders on the one computer appear). I can actually access those files from the laptop. But the Homegroup folder, which actually shows all the computers by account and computer name and includes documents from both computers, does not open those folders when clicked. The computers listed by name in the Network folder give me a login that doesn't work. It asks for a username and password, no combinations of which work. Further, the following error message appears before the login is even attempted: "The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request. Please try again later." The two windows 7 pc's continue to share all files, including documents, seemlessly. I can also get to the laptop shared files, which I shared during setup, from either pc. Any ideas?

I have a backend server running on http://10.0.2.20/ from the local network, which serves similar to this: / (root) | |_user1/ | |_www/ | |_private/ | |_user2/ |_www/ |_private/ (etc.) Accessing http://10.0.2.20/user1/ of course, contains 'www' and 'private' folders and is proxied through a public server using Apache's Reverse Proxy. I'd like it so the following happens: http://public-proxy-server/user1/ actually shows the content from http://10.0.2.20/user1/www/ without indicating it in the URL. (/private/ would not be accessible via the public proxy server). The key here, is for it to be dynamic, so all requests to http://public-proxy-server/*/should show content from http://10.0.2.20/*/www/. Windows 7 - media sharing extremely flakey (XBox 360)

I have constant headaches with Windows Media Library sharing, which I'm using to share my video library (a whole lot of AVI files on my computer's hard drive) with the XBox 360. I have the whole setup working, so setup and basic configuration is not an issue. The issue is that Windows Media Library frequently fails to notice additions and modifications to the "watched" folders. Not only that, but often after I've added something new to the library, it fails to transmit this new library information to the 360, as is demonstrated by the fact that, using that 360, I navigate to my video library and the new folders don't show up in the list. Often the only way to get the 360 to see the changes is to exit out of "Videos" on the 360, then remove all videos from Windows Media Library, go back into videos on the 360 to confirm that nothing is shared, then re-add a few videos (but not too many) in Windows Media Library, then go back into the videos in the 360. The whole thing is a real pain in the bum and I really wish I could just add all my videos to Windows Media Library and have it keep watch without me having to kick it, and have the 360 pick up changes without me having to constantly rebuild the library. Any ideas?

How to manage multiple email addresses on multiple domains in Exchange

Using Hosted Exchange Server, mostly because I use an iPhone, webmail & Outlook on 2 laptops. I want to keep everything consistent and unfragmented. Also, I want push notifications. I have 2 domains, a professional one & a personal one. Each domain has about 5 (give or take) email addresses I use for various purposes. Each domain also has a few parked domains (.net, .org, .info) aliased to the .com domain. I would like to keep emails from the 2 domains separated. Do I need an extra mail box, meaning extra expense or can I create another Exchange user on the same mailbox and create an extra account in Outlook? In either case I will have to wait for iOS4 on the iPhone to manage 2 Exchange accounts. Or am I better off just using a set of rules and folders? The aliased domains are another joy to behold entirely. It looks like I will have to add each email address variant individually. Alternatively, I reckon I may just leave the aliased domains at the pop3 host and let Outlook gather those as edge-cases. Surely I can't be the only one making my life this difficult. Anyone out there done this? From the left field - is this (much) easier in gMail? I'm not committed to Exchange (yet). Previously I used Outlook as a pop3 client with a set of filters to direct incoming traffic to folders. This worked with the aliased domains because my host directed all the aliased TLDs to the same mailbox.

I'm afraid to delete anything if it removes valuable backups. Have I got huge backups here? Why can't I see them? How do I see them?

How to setup NTFS ACL with Acces Based Enumeration

We're in the process of migrating from Novell Netware to Windows 2K8 R2 infrastructure (AD, File server, print server... etc) My question is about ACL. While Netware and Windows are totally different, I want to be sure my thnking is good before screwing everything up! There's a scenario : F: | +-- DATA <= Shared as DATA with Access based enumeration | +-- Folder 1 +-- Team 1's Folder +-- Team 2's Folder ... In that case, by default, rights are herited from the F: to the deepest folders. What we want : Administrators group have full control top - down. From DATA, ABE list only folders that users have access. (ex. : I'm in group Team 2, I see Team 2's Folder). From what I understand, at DATA I remove all NTFS ACL to be herited (ex. Users Group), be sure to keep Administrators Group and SYSTEM user. After that, grant Full control (or any right needed) on each folder to Groups or Users that have to have access. Does I'm wrong ? Anything I should take care of ? Any help to my understanding will be very appreciated. Regards.

Good process/software for organizing photos past/present

So I have tons of photos taken all the time. I have a lot from years past that I never went through (meaning deleting duplicates, etc). I've got a new pc with windows 7, and I'm wondering what a good process is to organize those photos. They're in folders that have really no meaning (it used to be people would put them in a folder wherever, even the desktop or somewhere else, not just the My Pictures folder). I'm going to keep all pictures in the "My Pictures" folder from now on. I've used Picasa from g=Google, and it works great. Is this the recommended free software for this? What process do I use to move the old pictures over in to new "organized" folders? Lately in Picasa when I import off my camera card, I would just select something that names the folder after the date it was taken. Is this advised? Just give me ideas on how to stay organized with photos. Should I tag them also? Should I rename the file names? Keep in mind I have over 16,000 photos I'll have to go through, so it can't be anything to thorough.

How can i export a folder of Firefox Bookmarks into a text file

I want to clean up my bookmark folders by getting rid of duplicated/links. i have created a program which will import 2 text files which contains a URL like this File 1: http://www.google/com http://anime.stackexchange.com/ https://www.fanfiction.net/guidelines/ https://www.fanfiction.net/anime/Magical-Girl-Lyrical-Nanoha/?&srt=1&g1=2&lan=1&r=103&s=2 File 2: http://scifi.stackexchange.com/ http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/56142/why-didnt-dumbledore-just-hunt-voldemort-down http://anime.stackexchange.com/ http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/5650/how-can-the-doctor-be-poisoned the program compares the 2 lists and creates a single master list with duplicate URLs removed. Now i have a few Backup bookmark folders in Firefox which on occasion i'll bookmark all tabs into a new folder with the date of the backup before i close off tabs or do reset my PC. each folder can have between 1000-2000 bookmarks, sometimes there are a bunch of pages which keep getting bookmarked, ie, i have ~50 pages on the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Wiki on different spells, character and terminology which i commonly look back on. I'd like to know how i can export a bookmark folder so i have a list of URLs similar to what i use in my program

Copying windows home server backup offsite

What ways are there to copy a windows home server backup to an offsite location? I'm talking specifically (and only) about the automated backup of my entire machine, and not the shared network folders. I am 90% working away from home on my laptop which has a 640GB drive so the shared folders are essentially useless to me. I backup every night, but if my house burns down or broken into the I'm in serious serious trouble ! I'm really looking for some alternative way to back up my entire machine - which much not interfere with the reliability or speed by which my WHS backs up my laptop every night. Either a way to 'export' a complete machine backup from the server, or recommendations on non-conflicting software I can backup to a 1TB drive at work are what I'm looking for. Note: I believe that WHS uses its own completely proprietary backup and doesn't use things like any 'backup bit' or 'archive bit'. I just dont want to install some other backup software that will conflict. PS I'm now running Windows 7 and just realized that I should probably check out the backup functionality it gives me. I assume that won't conflict right! Edit: Thanks for the hosted solutions. I'd also appreciate ways to backup to an 'offsite' location that I control - like my office vs. my home. The hosted solutions I think will be too slow or expensive for my needs.

Using Samba to share a folder from a Linux guest with a Windows host in VirtualBox

I would like to share a folder from a Linux Guest with a Windows host (with read and write access if possible) in VirtualBox. I read in these two links: here and here that it's possible to do this using Samba, but I am a little bit lost and I need more information on how to proceed. So far, I managed to set up two network adapters (one NAT and one host-only) and install Samba on the Linux guest, but now I have the following questions: What do I need to type in samba.conf to share a folder from the Linux guest? (the tutorial provided in one of the links above only explains how to share home directories) Are there any Samba commands that need to be executed on the guest to enable sharing? How do I make sure that these folders are only available to the host OS and not on the Internet? Once the Linux guest is setup, how do I access each of the individual shared folders from the Windows host? I read that I need to mount a drive on Windows to do this, but do I use Samba logins, or Linux logins, also do I use localhost? or do I need to set up an IP for this? Thanks!
