  • LuaEdit can't find module when Lua files all in the same folder

    - by joverboard
I downloaded LuaEdit to use as an IDE and debug tool however I'm having trouble using it for even the simplest things. I've created a solution with 2 files in it, all of which are stored in the same folder. My files are as follows: --startup.lua require("foo") test("Testing", "testing", "one, two, three") --foo.lua foo = {} print("In foo.lua") function test(a,b,c) print(a,b,c) end This works fine when in my C++ compiler when accessed through some embed code, however when I attempt to use the same code in LuaEdit, it crashes on line 3 require("foo") with an error stating: module 'foo' not found: no field package.preload['foo'] no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\lua\foo.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\lua\foo\init.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\foo.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\foo\init.lua' no file '.\foo.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\foo.dll' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\loadall.dll' no file '.\battle.dll' I have also tried creating these files prior to adding them to a solution and still get the same error. Is there some setting I'm missing? It would be great to have an IDE/debugger but it's useless to me if it can't run linked functions.

  • How might one cope with the ambiguous value produced by GetDllDirectory?

    - by Integer Poet
GetDllDirectory produces an ambiguous value. When the string this call produces is empty, it means one of the following: nobody has called SetDllDirectory somebody passed NULL to SetDllDirectory somebody passed an empty string to SetDllDirectory The first two cases are equivalent for my purposes, but the third case is a problem. If I want to write save/restore code (call GetDllDirectory to save the "old" value, SetDllDirectory to set a "new" value temporarily, and later SetDllDirectory again to restore the "old" value), I run the risk of reversing some other programmer's intent. If the other programmer intended for the current working directory to be in the DLL search order (in other words, one of the first two bullets is true), and I pass an empty string to SetDllDirectory, I will be taking the current working directory out of the DLL search order, reversing the other programmer's intent. Can anyone suggest an approach to eliminate or work around this ambiguity? P.S. I know having the current working directory in the DLL search order could be interpreted as a security hole. Nevertheless, it is the default behavior, and my code is not in a position to undo that; my code needs to be compatible with the expectations of all potential callers, many of which are large and old and beyond my control.

  • Trying to make a plugin system in C++

    - by Pirate for Profit
I'm making a task-based program that needs to have plugins. Tasks need to have properties which can be easily edited, I think this can be done with Qt's Meta-Object Compiler reflection capabilities (I could be wrong, but I should be able to stick this in a QtPropertyBrowser?) So here's the base: class Task : public QObject { Q_OBJECT public: explicit Task(QObject *parent = 0) : QObject(parent){} virtual void run() = 0; signals: void taskFinished(bool success = true); } Then a plugin might have this task: class PrinterTask : public Task { Q_OBJECT public: explicit PrinterTask(QObject *parent = 0) : Task(parent) {} void run() { Printer::getInstance()->Print(this->getData()); // fictional emit taskFinished(true); } inline const QString &getData() const; inline void setData(QString data); Q_PROPERTY(QString data READ getData WRITE setData) // for reflection } In a nutshell, here's what I want to do: // load plugin // find all the Tasks interface implementations in it // have user able to choose a Task and edit its specific Q_PROPERTY's // run the TASK It's important that one .dll has multiple tasks, because I want them to be associated by their module. For instance, "FileTasks.dll" could have tasks for deleting files, making files, etc. The only problem with Qt's plugin setup is I want to store X amount of Tasks in one .dll module. As far as I can tell, you can only load one interface per plugin (I could be wrong?). If so, the only possible way to do accomplish what I want is to create a FactoryInterface with string based keys which return the objects (as in Qt's Plug-And-Paint example), which is a terrible boilerplate that I would like to avoid. Anyone know a cleaner C++ plugin architecture than Qt's to do what I want? Also, am I safely assuming Qt's reflection capabilities will do what I want (i.e. able to edit an unknown dynamically loaded tasks' properties with the QtPropertyBrowser before dispatching)?

  • Problems with video conversions through the web (local host)

    - by ron-d
Hello, I get the following errors when I attempt video format conversions called from the local host: “An invalid media type was specified” for M4V to WMV conversions. “One or more arguments are invalid” for MP4 to WMV conversions. Here are the details of the problems: I’ve written a dll in C# that accepts videos in the formats AVI, WMV, M4V and MP4 and performs the following actions: Creates a copy of the input video in WMV format . Creates a WAV file of the input video audio portion. Creates a JPG image from a frame of the input video. I attached the dll to an ASP.NET web project that performs the dll actions. When tested through the developer studio, the actions are performed as intended for all formats. When I place the web project in place to be read when the local host is called through the web browser, the following behavior takes place: WMV format: All actions performed as intended. AVI format: Creates WMV file – OK Creates JPG image – OK Creates empty WAV file – problem. M4V format: Creates empty WAV file – problem. Does not create WMV file -problem Does not create JPG file –problem Throws me the error “An invalid media type was specified” MP4 format: Creates empty WAV file – problem. Does not create WMV file -problem Does not create JPG file –problem Throws me the error “One or more arguments are invalid” When I check their security property, all the files have the same permission access parameters (when I check their security property. Can anyone guide me as to how to solve these problems when the web project is called from the local host? Thank you.

  • Why won't my Setup Project Perform my Custom Registration Process

    - by Jordan S
I am trying to write an Setup Project/Installer for a class library driver that I wrote in C# using Visual Studio 2008. The driver project has a section of code that looks like this... [ComRegisterFunction] public static void RegisterASCOM(Type t) { Trace.WriteLine("Registration Started."); DoRegistration(true); } In the driver project Properties - "Assembly Information" I have set checked the box that says Make COM-Visible = true. I added a Setup Project to the solution in VS, added the output dll from the driver project so that it installs on the target machine and set the Register property of the dll to "vsdraCOM". So, my understanding is that when the installer runs it SHOULD execute the methods of the dll that are marked with [COMRegisterFunction]. Using SysInternals Debug View I can monitor when the above code snippet is hit by watching for the "Registration started" text to show up in the window. When I build the solution, I can see the text show up so I know the driver is registering properly. The problem is that when I run the installer, I don't think it is doing the registration bit. I see nothing show up in Debug View. And if i try to access my driver via another application I get an error saying it "Cannot create ActiveX object". Why does the registration not occur during the install process? The driver does register for COM but it does NOT call my custom registration method. Does anyone have and suggestions of what I could be missing? Is there another way I can debug this? (I can provide more code if anyone want's to take a look!!)

  • Loading a Win32 control in C# (specifically WPF)

    - by Mmarquee
I have written a set of Win32 dlls that encapsulate a Delphi Frame (see Snippet 1 below), and can load them into another Delphi program by loading the dll and assigning the right variables (Snippet 2). I now want to be able to do the same thing in C# (I can load the DLL in pinvoke, but am unsure how to connect up the control to the basic WPF 'form'. Snippet 1 var frame : TFrame1; function CreateFrame(hParent:TWinControl):Integer; stdcall; export; begin try frame := TFrame1.Create(hParent); frame.Parent := hParent; frame.Align := alClient; finally result := 1; end; end; exports CreateFrame name 'CreateFrame'; Snippet 2 DLLHandle := LoadLibrary('Library/Demo.Frame.dll'); If DLLHandle > 32 then begin ReturnValue := GetProcAddress(DLLHandle, 'CreateFrame'); end; ts1 := TTabSheet.Create(PageControl1); with ts1 do begin PageControl := PageControl1; Name := 'tsExternal'; Caption := 'External'; Align := alClient; ReturnValue (ts1); end; Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Using in the same time Boost in release and debug mode

    - by Oodini
Hello, The title is just for teasing. :-) I know it isn't possible, but here is my problem. My app (a DLL, actually) uses Boost. It also uses an external API, which also uses Boost. The external API is of course provided in a release binary, anlong the needed release Boost binaries. When I compile/link my DLL in release mode, I have no problem. I precise I link my app to Boost in a dynamic way (BOOST_ALL_DYN_LINK). In debug mode, I can't load my DLL. I am not sure it is because of Boost, but I suspect Windows doesn't like working with two Boost (the release one called by the external lib, and the debug one called by my code). Will it work better if I link my code statically with the release Boost ? I don't think it is related to CRT, because I have nothing in the Events Viewer. I use Visual Studio 2005 SP1. Thanks.

  • Mysterious double execution of Click handler after change to Windows 2008 Server

    - by mjn
    After moving a Delphi 2009 application from a Windows 2003 / Citrix environment to a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 environment (users now use RDP instead of Citrix), there are frequent runtime errors which are caused by a double exection of a menu item click handler. The first call of the event handler opens a modal form. Then the same event handler is triggered again and thus a runtime exception occurs since the visible form can not be made modal. The madExcept stack trace looks like this: main thread ($2dc): 004ffa88 +06c Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.ShowModal 0052f4ff +0bb Ladelist.exe DB TDataSet.SetActive 008fc9a1 +089 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 928 +16 TForm1.EditLoadingList 008fadec +070 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 504 +5 TForm1.OpenLoadingListClick <----- 2 004d6e27 +0a7 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenuItem.Click 004d857f +0ef Ladelist.exe Menus DoClick 004d866b +087 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenu.IsShortCut 005001c1 +04d Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.IsShortCut 004e8dc0 +068 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.IsMenuKey 004e8f89 +011 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.CNSysKeyDown 004e247e +2d2 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.WndProc 004e6983 +513 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.WndProc 004fb5e8 +594 Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.WndProc 004e20a4 +024 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.Perform 004856e0 +014 Ladelist.exe Classes StdWndProc 004e609c +02c Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.MainWndProc 004856e0 +014 Ladelist.exe Classes StdWndProc 775b00e3 +02b ntdll.dll KiUserCallbackDispatcher 008fc9a1 +089 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 928 +16 TForm1.EditLoadingList 008fadec +070 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 504 +5 TForm1.OpenLoadingListClick <----- 1 004d6e27 +0a7 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenuItem.Click 004d857f +0ef Ladelist.exe Menus DoClick 004d866b +087 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenu.IsShortCut 005001c1 +04d Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.IsShortCut 004e8dc0 +068 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.IsMenuKey 004e8e0d +01d Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.CNKeyDown 004e247e +2d2 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.WndProc 004e6983 +513 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.WndProc 004fb5e8 +594 Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.WndProc 004e20a4 +024 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.Perform 004e609c +02c Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.MainWndProc 004856e0 +014 Ladelist.exe Classes StdWndProc 775b00e3 +02b ntdll.dll KiUserCallbackDispatcher 753c3675 +010 kernel32.dll BaseThreadInitThunk

  • How can I copy files in the middle of a build in Team System?

    - by Dana
I have two solutions that I want to include in a build. Solution two requires the dll's from solution one to successfully build. Solution two has a Binaries folder where the dll's from solution one need to be copied before building Solution two. I've been trying an AfterBuild Target, hoping that it would copy the items after the first SolutionToBuild, but it doesn't fire then. I'm guessing that it would probably fire after both solutions have compiled, but that's not what I want. <SolutionToBuild Include="$(BuildProjectFolderPath)/../../Main/Framework.sln"> <Targets>AfterCompileFramework</Targets> <Properties></Properties> </SolutionToBuild> <SolutionToBuild Include="$(BuildProjectFolderPath)/../../../Dashboard/Main/Dashboard.sln"> <Targets></Targets> <Properties></Properties> </SolutionToBuild> <ItemGroup> <FrameworkBinaries Include="$(DropLocation)\$(BuildNumber)\Release\Framework.*.dll"/> </ItemGroup> <Message Text="FrameworkBinaries: @(FrameworkBinaries)" Importance="high"/> <Copy SourceFiles="@(FrameworkBinaries)" DestinationFolder="$(BuildProjectFolderPath)/../../../Dashboard/Main/Binaries"/>

  • Access images for my project when it is embedded in another project

    - by Vaccano
I have the following situation: ProjectA needs to show an image on a UserControl. It has the image in its project (can be a Resource or whatever). But ProjectA is just a dll. It is used by ProjectB (via Prism). So doing this in ProjectA works for design time (if the MyImage.png file is set to "Resource" compile action): <Image Source="pack://application:,,,/ProjectA;component/MyImage.png"></Image> But at run time, all that is copied to ProjectB is the dll (and that is all I want copied. So MyImage.png is present in the running folder... and it does not show an image. I thought that Making it Resource would embed it but it does not seem to work. I also tried to use a Resources.resx and that does not seem to work at all (or I can't find the way to bind the image in xaml). How can I put the image inside my dll and then reference it from there (or some other non-file system dependent way to get the image)?

  • boost::asio::io_service throws exception

    - by Ace
Okay, I seriously cannot figure this out. I have a DLL project in MSVC that is attempting to use Asio (from Boost 1.45.0), but whenever I create my io_service, an exception is thrown. Here is what I am doing for testing purposes: void run() { boost::this_thread::sleep(boost::posix_time::seconds(5)); try { boost::asio::io_service io_service; } catch (std::exception & e) { MessageBox(NULL, e.what(), "Exception", MB_OK); } } BOOL WINAPI DllMain(HINSTANCE hinstDLL, DWORD fdwReason, LPVOID lpvReserved) { if (fdwReason == DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH) { boost::thread thread(run); } return TRUE; } This is what the message box shows: winsock: WSAStartup cannot function at this time because the underlying system it uses to provide network services is currently unavailable Here is what MSDN says about it (error code 10091, WSASYSNOTREADY): Network subsystem is unavailable. This error is returned by WSAStartup if the Windows Sockets implementation cannot function at because the underlying system it uses to provide network services is currently unavailable. Users should check: That the appropriate Windows Sockets DLL file is in the current path. That they are not trying to use more than one Windows Sockets implementation simultaneously. If there is more than one Winsock DLL on your system, be sure the first one in the path is appropriate for the network subsystem currently loaded. The Windows Sockets implementation documentation to be sure all necessary components are currently installed and configured correctly. Yet none of this seems to apply to me (or so I think). Here is my command line: /O2 /GL /D "_WIN32_WINNT=0x0501" /D "_WINDLL" /FD /EHsc /MD /Gy /Fo"Release\" /Fd"Release\vc90.pdb" /W3 /WX /nologo /c /TP /errorReport:prompt If anyone knows what might be wrong, please help me out! Thanks.

  • Exception Handling Differences Between 32/64 Bit

    - by Alois Kraus
I do quite a bit of debugging .NET applications but from time to time I see things that are impossible (at a first look). I may ask you dear reader what your mental exception handling model is. Exception handling is easy after all right? Lets suppose the following code:         private void F1(object sender, EventArgs e)         {             try             {                 F2();             }             catch (Exception ex)             {                 throw new Exception("even worse Exception");             }           }           private void F2()         {             try             {                 F3();             }             finally             {                 throw new Exception("other exception");             }         }           private void F3()         {             throw new NotImplementedException();         }   What will the call stack look like when you break into the catch(Exception) clause in Windbg (32 and 64 bit on .NET 3.5 SP1)? The mental model I have is that when an exception is thrown the stack frames are unwound until the catch handler can execute. An exception does propagate the call chain upwards.   So when F3 does throw an exception the control flow will resume at the finally handler in F2 which does throw another exception hiding the original one (that is nasty) and then the new Exception will be catched in F1 where the catch handler is executed. So we should see in the catch handler in F1 as call stack only the F1 stack frame right? Well lets try it out in Windbg. For this I created a simple Windows Forms application with one button which does execute the F1 method in its click handler. When you compile the application for 64 bit and the catch handler is reached you will find with the following commands in Windbg   Load sos extension from the same path where mscorwks was loaded in the current process .loadby sos mscorwks   Beak on clr exceptions sxe clr   Continue execution g   Dump mixed call stack container C++  and .NET Stacks interleaved 0:000> !DumpStack OS Thread Id: 0x1d8 (0) Child-SP         RetAddr          Call Site 00000000002c88c0 000007fefa68f0bd KERNELBASE!RaiseException+0x39 00000000002c8990 000007fefac42ed0 mscorwks!RaiseTheExceptionInternalOnly+0x295 00000000002c8a60 000007ff005dd7f4 mscorwks!JIT_Throw+0x130 00000000002c8c10 000007fefa6942e1 WindowsFormsApplication1!WindowsFormsApplication1.Form1.F1(System.Object, System.EventArgs)+0xb4 00000000002c8c60 000007fefa661012 mscorwks!ExceptionTracker::CallHandler+0x145 00000000002c8d60 000007fefa711a72 mscorwks!ExceptionTracker::CallCatchHandler+0x9e 00000000002c8df0 0000000077b055cd mscorwks!ProcessCLRException+0x25e 00000000002c8e90 0000000077ae55f8 ntdll!RtlpExecuteHandlerForUnwind+0xd 00000000002c8ec0 000007fefa637c1a ntdll!RtlUnwindEx+0x539 00000000002c9560 000007fefa711a21 mscorwks!ClrUnwindEx+0x36 00000000002c9a70 0000000077b0554d mscorwks!ProcessCLRException+0x20d 00000000002c9b10 0000000077ae5d1c ntdll!RtlpExecuteHandlerForException+0xd 00000000002c9b40 0000000077b1fe48 ntdll!RtlDispatchException+0x3cb 00000000002ca220 000007fefdaeaa7d ntdll!KiUserExceptionDispatcher+0x2e 00000000002ca7e0 000007fefa68f0bd KERNELBASE!RaiseException+0x39 00000000002ca8b0 000007fefac42ed0 mscorwks!RaiseTheExceptionInternalOnly+0x295 00000000002ca980 000007ff005dd8df mscorwks!JIT_Throw+0x130 00000000002cab30 000007fefa6942e1 WindowsFormsApplication1!WindowsFormsApplication1.Form1.F2()+0x9f 00000000002cab80 000007fefa71b5b3 mscorwks!ExceptionTracker::CallHandler+0x145 00000000002cac80 000007fefa70dcd0 mscorwks!ExceptionTracker::ProcessManagedCallFrame+0x683 00000000002caed0 000007fefa7119af mscorwks!ExceptionTracker::ProcessOSExceptionNotification+0x430 00000000002cbd90 0000000077b055cd mscorwks!ProcessCLRException+0x19b 00000000002cbe30 0000000077ae55f8 ntdll!RtlpExecuteHandlerForUnwind+0xd 00000000002cbe60 000007fefa637c1a ntdll!RtlUnwindEx+0x539 00000000002cc500 000007fefa711a21 mscorwks!ClrUnwindEx+0x36 00000000002cca10 0000000077b0554d mscorwks!ProcessCLRException+0x20d 00000000002ccab0 0000000077ae5d1c ntdll!RtlpExecuteHandlerForException+0xd 00000000002ccae0 0000000077b1fe48 ntdll!RtlDispatchException+0x3cb 00000000002cd1c0 000007fefdaeaa7d ntdll!KiUserExceptionDispatcher+0x2e 00000000002cd780 000007fefa68f0bd KERNELBASE!RaiseException+0x39 00000000002cd850 000007fefac42ed0 mscorwks!RaiseTheExceptionInternalOnly+0x295 00000000002cd920 000007ff005dd968 mscorwks!JIT_Throw+0x130 00000000002cdad0 000007ff005dd875 WindowsFormsApplication1!WindowsFormsApplication1.Form1.F3()+0x48 00000000002cdb10 000007ff005dd786 WindowsFormsApplication1!WindowsFormsApplication1.Form1.F2()+0x35 00000000002cdb60 000007ff005dbe6a WindowsFormsApplication1!WindowsFormsApplication1.Form1.F1(System.Object, System.EventArgs)+0x46 00000000002cdbc0 000007ff005dd452 System_Windows_Forms!System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(System.EventArgs)+0x5a   Hm okaaay. The call stack has been unwound and we do see only some frames into the history where the debugger was smart enough to find out that we have called F2 from F1. The exception handling on 64 bit systems does work quite differently which seems to have the nice property to remember the called methods not only during the first pass of exception filter clauses (during first pass all catch handler are called if they are going to catch the exception which is about to be thrown)  but also when the actual stack unwind has taken place. This makes it possible to follow not only the call stack right at the moment but also to look into the “history” of the catch/finally clauses. In a 64 bit process you only need to look at the ExceptionTracker to find out if a catch or finally handler was called. The two frames ProcessManagedCallFrame/CallHandler does indicate a finally clause whereas CallCatchHandler/CallHandler indicates a catch clause. That was a interesting one. Oh and by the way if you manage to load the Microsoft symbols you can also find out the hidden exception which. • Fix for: Xlib: extension "XINERAMA" missing on display

    - by obeliksz
I am using Xming 6.9 with putty trying to run libreoffice remotely. It works well, but an error line appears in the terminal from where I launch it: Xlib: extension "XINERAMA" missing on display "localhost:12.0". Looks like it needs this extension but I can't find the necessary dll file (libXinerama-1.dll) for it as it is not included in the package. I ask for a link from where I could download this file (I accept a hit with a lmgtfy if you can do it) or the source code of it and how to complie it on my win7 machine... or just a surface fix could do it also if it is really clean and simple: hide the error line.

  • use svcutil to map multiple namespaces for generating wcf service proxies

    - by Pratik
I want to use svcutil to map multiple wsdl namespace to clr namespace when generating service proxies. I use strong versioning of namespaces and hence the generated clr namespaces are awkward and may mean many client side code changes if the wsdl/xsd namespace version changes. A code example would be better to show what I want. // Service code namespace TestService.StoreService { [DataContract(Namespace = "http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Store/2009/07/01")] public class Address { [DataMember(IsRequired = true, Order = 0)] public string street { get; set; } } [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://mydomain.com/wsdl/StoreService-v1.0")] public interface IStoreService { [OperationContract] List<Customer> GetAllCustomersForStore(int storeId); [OperationContract] Address GetStoreAddress(int storeId); } public class StoreService : IStoreService { public List<Customer> GetAllCustomersForStore(int storeId) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public Address GetStoreAddress(int storeId) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } } namespace TestService.CustomerService { [DataContract(Namespace = "http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Customer/2009/07/01")] public class Address { [DataMember(IsRequired = true, Order = 0)] public string city { get; set; } } [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://mydomain.com/wsdl/CustomerService-v1.0")] public interface ICustomerService { [OperationContract] Customer GetCustomer(int customerId); [OperationContract] Address GetStoreAddress(int customerId); } public class CustomerService : ICustomerService { public Customer GetCustomer(int customerId) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public Address GetStoreAddress(int customerId) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } } namespace TestService.Shared { [DataContract(Namespace = "http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Shared/2009/07/01")] public class Customer { [DataMember(IsRequired = true, Order = 0)] public int CustomerId { get; set; } [DataMember(IsRequired = true, Order = 1)] public string FirstName { get; set; } } } 1. svcutil - without namespace mapping svcutil.exe /t:metadata TestSvcUtil\bin\debug\TestService.CustomerService.dll TestSvcUtil\bin\debug\TestService.StoreService.dll svcutil.exe /t:code *.wsdl *.xsd /o:TestClient\WebServiceProxy.cs The generated proxy looks like namespace mydomain.com.xsd.Model.Shared._2009._07._011 { public partial class Customer{} } namespace mydomain.com.xsd.Model.Customer._2009._07._011 { public partial class Address{} } namespace mydomain.com.xsd.Model.Store._2009._07._011 { public partial class Address{} } The client classes are out of any namespaces. Any change to xsd namespace would imply changing all using statements in my client code all build will break. 2. svcutil - with wildcard namespace mapping svcutil.exe /t:metadata TestSvcUtil\bin\debug\TestService.CustomerService.dll TestSvcUtil\bin\debug\TestService.StoreService.dll svcutil.exe /t:code *.wsdl *.xsd /n:*,MyDomain.ServiceProxy /o:TestClient\WebServicesProxy2.cs The generated proxy looks like namespace MyDomain.ServiceProxy { public partial class Customer{} public partial class Address{} public partial class Address1{} public partial class CustomerServiceClient{} public partial class StoreServiceClient{} } Notice that svcutil has automatically changed one of the Address class to Address1. I don't like this. All client classes are also inside the same namespace. What I want Something like this: svcutil.exe /t:code *.wsdl *.xsd /n:"http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Shared/2009/07/01, MyDomain.Model.Shared;http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Customer/2009/07/01, MyDomain.Model.Customer;http://mydomain.com/wsdl/CustomerService-v1.0, MyDomain.CustomerServiceProxy;http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Store/2009/07/01, MyDomain.Model.Store;http://mydomain.com/wsdl/StoreService-v1.0, MyDomain.StoreServiceProxy" /o:TestClient\WebServiceProxy3.cs This way I can logically group the clr namespace and any change to wsdl/xsd namespace is handled in the proxy generation only without affecting the rest of the client side code. Now this is not possible. The svcutil allows to map only one or all namespaces, not a list of mappings. I can do one mapping as shown below but not multiple svcutil.exe /t:code *.wsdl *.xsd /n:"http://mydomain.com/xsd/Model/Store/2009/07/01, MyDomain.Model.Address" /o:TestClient\WebServiceProxy4.cs But is there any solution. Svcutil is not magic, it is written in .Net and programatically generating the proxies. Has anyone written an alternate to svcutil or point me to directions so that I can write one.

  • MVC2 and MVC Futures causing RedirectToAction issues

    - by Darragh
I've been trying to get the strongly typed version of RedirectToAction from the MVC Futures project to work, but I've been getting no where. Below are the steps I've followed, and the errors I've encountered. Any help is much appreciated. I created a new MVC2 app and changed the About action on the HomeController to redirect to the Index page. Return RedirectToAction("Index") However, I wanted to use the strongly typed extensions, so I downloaded the MVC Futures from CodePlex and added a reference to Microsoft.Web.Mvc to my project. I addded the following "import" statement to the top of HomeContoller.vb Imports Microsoft.Web.Mvc I commented out the above RedirectToAction and added the following line: Return RedirectToAction(Of HomeController)(Function(c) c.Index()) So far, so good. However, I noticed if I uncomment out the first (non Generic) RedirectToAction, it was now causing the following compile error: Error 1 Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'RedirectToAction' can be called with these arguments: Extension method 'Public Function RedirectToAction(Of TController)(action As System.Linq.Expressions.Expression(Of System.Action(Of TController))) As System.Web.Mvc.RedirectToRouteResult' defined in 'Microsoft.Web.Mvc.ControllerExtensions': Data type(s) of the type parameter(s) cannot be inferred from these arguments. Specifying the data type(s) explicitly might correct this error. Extension method 'Public Function RedirectToAction(action As System.Linq.Expressions.Expression(Of System.Action(Of HomeController))) As System.Web.Mvc.RedirectToRouteResult' defined in 'Microsoft.Web.Mvc.ControllerExtensions': Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to 'System.Linq.Expressions.Expression(Of System.Action(Of mvc2test1.HomeController))'. Even though intelli-sense was showing 8 overloads (the original 6 non-generic overloads, plus the 2 new generic overloads from the Futures assembly), it seems when trying to complie the code, the compiler would only 'find' the 2 non-gneneric extension methods from the Futures assessmbly. I thought this might be an issue that I was using conflicting versions of the MVC2 assembly, and the futures assembly, so I added MvcDiaganotics.aspx from the Futures download to my project and everytyhing looked correct: ASP.NET MVC Assembly Information (System.Web.Mvc.dll) Assembly version: ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM (2.0.50217.0) Full name: System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35 Code base: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Web.Mvc/2.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35/System.Web.Mvc.dll Deployment: GAC-deployed ASP.NET MVC Futures Assembly Information (Microsoft.Web.Mvc.dll) Assembly version: ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM Futures (2.0.50217.0) Full name: Microsoft.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null Code base: file:///xxxx/bin/Microsoft.Web.Mvc.DLL Deployment: bin-deployed This is driving me crazy! Becuase I thought this might be some VB issue, I created a new MVC2 project using C# and tried the same as above. I added the following "using" statement to the top of HomeController.cs using Microsoft.Web.Mvc; This time, in the About action method, I could only manage to call the non-generic RedirectToAction by typing the full commmand as follows: return Microsoft.Web.Mvc.ControllerExtensions.RedirectToAction<HomeController>(this, c => c.Index()); Even though I had a "using" statement at the top of the class, if I tried to call the non-generic RedirectToAction as follows: return RedirectToAction<HomeController>(c => c.Index()); I would get the following compile error: Error 1 The non-generic method 'System.Web.Mvc.Controller.RedirectToAction(string)' cannot be used with type arguments What gives? It's not like I'm trying to do anything out of the ordinary. It's a simple vanilla MVC2 project with only a reference to the Futures assembly. I'm hoping that I've missed out something obvious, but I've been scratching my head for too long, so I figured I'd seek some assisstance. If anyone's managed to get this simple scenario working (in VB and/or C#) could they please let me know what, if anything, they did differently? Thanks!

  • Why am I getting warnings about missing DLLs when adding a node to a WSFC?

    - by Stuart Branham
We're getting the following two errors when adding a node to our WSFC. The node was added successfully, but the 'SQL Server Availability Group' resource type could not be installed on it. Unable to find 'hadrres.dll' on any of the cluster nodes. The node was added successfully, but the 'SQL Server FILESTREAM Share' resource type could not be installed on it. Unable to find 'fssres.dll' on any of the cluster nodes. This cluster is going to host an AlwaysOn Availability Group. SQL Server 2012 is installed on both nodes, and availability groups are enabled on both. Filestream access is also configured on both. Another curious thing I'm seeing is that my instance on the second node doesn't appear in Configuration Manager. Anyone know what may be going on here?

  • System.Reflection and InvokeMember, storing type, assembly, and object in a class

    - by Cyclone
I have tested code to call a method inside of a compiled DLL, and it works. I created a class to store the object, type, and loaded assembly, but something is lost in translation because it is unable to find the member I wish to invoke. If I create a type, object, and assembly, and properly load everything into these and perform InvokeMember on the type, it works just fine. However, when I use the things inside of my class, it throws a MissingMemberException and does not invoke the member, obviously. What am I doing wrong? The member in question is a subroutine which takes one argument, a string. This is quite frustrating. Code being called: Dim MyLoadedAssembly As New LoadedAssembly() MyLoadedAssembly.MyAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom("display.dll") MyLoadedAssembly.MyObject = MyLoadedAssembly.MyAssembly.CreateInstance("Display.UI.Window") MyLoadedAssembly.MyType = MyLoadedAssembly.MyAssembly.GetType("Display.UI.Window") Dim args() As Object = {"test"} MyLoadedAssembly.InvokeMember("Show", args) Private Class LoadedAssembly Public MyType As Type Public MyObject As Object Public MyAssembly As Assembly Public Function InvokeMember(ByVal name As String, ByVal args() As Object) Return MyType.InvokeMember(name, BindingFlags.Default Or BindingFlags.InvokeMethod Or BindingFlags.GetProperty Or BindingFlags.Instance, Nothing, MyObject, args) End Function End Class Code inside of display.dll: Namespace UI Public Class Window Private wind As New System.Windows.Forms.Form Public FullScreen As Boolean = False Public Overloads Sub Show(ByVal text As String) wind.Show() wind.Text = text End Sub Public Overloads Sub Show() wind.Show() End Sub End Class End Namespace The root namespace for display.dll is Display. • How to properly add .NET assemblies to Powershell session?

    - by amandion
I have a .NET assembly (a dll) which is an API to backup software we use here. It contains some properties and methods I would like to take advantage of in my Powershell script(s). However, I am running into a lot of issues with first loading the assembly, then using any of the types once the assembly is loaded. The complete file path is: C:\rnd\CloudBerry.Backup.API.dll In Powershell I use: $dllpath = "C:\rnd\CloudBerry.Backup.API.dll" Add-Type -Path $dllpath I get the error below: Add-Type : Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. At line:1 char:9 + Add-Type <<<< -Path $dllpath + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Add-Type], ReflectionTypeLoadException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.AddTypeComma ndAdd-Type : Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. Using the same cmdlet on another .NET assembly, DotNetZip, which has examples of using the same functionality on the site also does not work for me. I eventually find that I am seemingly able to load the assembly using reflection: [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFrom($dllpath) Although I don't understand the difference between the methods Load, LoadFrom, or LoadFile that last method seems to work. However, I still seem to be unable to create instances or use objects. Each time I try, I get errors that describe that Powershell is unable to find any of the public types. I know the classes are there: $asm = [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFrom($dllpath) $cbbtypes = $asm.GetExportedTypes() $cbbtypes | Get-Member -Static ---- start of excerpt ---- TypeName: CloudBerryLab.Backup.API.BackupProvider Name MemberType Definition ---- ---------- ---------- PlanChanged Event System.EventHandler`1[CloudBerryLab.Backup.API.Utils.ChangedEventArgs] PlanChanged(Sy... • Remote Desktop Client Crashes following domain join

    - by Roberto Charlie Ciarleglio
I recently joined my laptop to our windows domain and now the remote desktop client crashes when i try and connect to any machine. It works if I run as administrator but not ordinarily. The domain join migrated my local profile to the domain profile which i think is where the problem lies. I'm guessing its a permission thing as I had a similar problem with dropbox and had to delete reg keys and reinstall. I can't figure out how to fix this problem though. The event viewer shows this: Faulting application name: mstsc.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7ab44 Faulting module name: FACredProv2.dll, version: 2.4.95.1, time stamp: 0x4bb8d766 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000000025b2 Faulting process id: 0xb24 Faulting application start time: 0x01cd43fbd3a81fba Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\FACredProv2.dll Report Id: 154ee55a-afef-11e1-a443-b8ac6f704c5d any help would be appreciated!
