With regexes? Parsing it into some kind of HTTPResponse object and using only the body? EDIT: I'm using SOCKS to make the request, that's why I get the raw response.

    Hi, I'm trying to run http://github.com/tardate/rails-authlogic-rpx-sample (only rails version was changed) but get error message http://gist.github.com/385696, when RPX returns information after successful authentication via Google Account. What is wrong here? And how I can fix it? The code was successfully tested with rails 2.3.3 by its author: http://rails-authlogic-rpx-sample.heroku.com/ I run on Windows with cygwin and rails (2.3.5), rpx_now (0.6.20), authlogic_rpx (1.1.1).   • How do I convert PDF to HTML programmatically?

    Are there any classes, COM objects, command line utilities, or anything else that I can make an API for that can convert a PDF to an HTML document? Obviously the conversion might be a little rough since PDFs can contain a lot more than HTML can describe. I found a utility called pdftohtml on Source Forge, but quite honestly it does a horrible job with the conversion. I don't care if the software is free or commercial, but is there anything out there at all that I can incorporate with my own software to do this sort of conversion at least decently? I know Google's developed their own method of doing this, since you can click "View as HTML" on a PDF attached to an email through Gmail, but I was hoping there was something out available to the public. Remember, PDF to HTML. I'm NOT worried about HTML to PDF.

  • getting window screenshot windows API

    Hi, I am trying to make a program to work on top of an existing GUI to annotate it and provide extra calculations and statistical information. I want to do this using image recognition, as I have learned a fair amount about this in University using Matlab and similar things. I can get a handle to the window I want to perform image recognition on, but I don't know how to turn that handle into an image of that window, and all its visible child windows. I suppose I am looking for something like the screenshot function, but restricted to a single window. How would I go about doing this? I suppose I'd need something like a .bmp to mess about with. Also, it would have to be efficient enough that I could call it several times a second without my PC grinding to a halt. Hopefully this isn't an obvious question, I typed some things into google but didn't get anything related.

    I am just beginning design work on a problem that I'm sure has been solved before. In a web based application, I need to: a) present a map b) place a set of points (map-pins) on the map c) allow the user at his browser to draw a simple closed curve on the map with his mouse d) send the path of that curve back to the server e) on the server, select from the set of points those that are within the closed curve. What are the best API's to use for this problem? (I know I can and will do more research with Google, but I'm figuring there is probably someone who has done this that can give me some pointers to narrow my search space.) Thanks.

  • Multidimensional vectors in scheme?

    I earlier asked a question about arrays in scheme (turns out they're called vectors but are basically otherwise the same as you'd expect). Is there an easy way to do multidimensional arrays vectors in PLT Scheme though? For my purposes I'd like to have a procedure called make-multid-vector or something. By the way if this doesn't already exist, I don't need a full code example of how to implement it. If I have to roll this myself I'd appreciate some general direction though. The way I'd probably do it is to just iterate through each element of the currently highest dimension of the vector to add another dimension, but I can see that being a bit ugly using scheme's recursive setup. Also, this seems like something I should have been able to find myself so please know that I did actually google it and nothing came up.

    I'm working on a large computer science school project using java and SQlite. After finding out that the zentus.org wrapper errors on databases with ON DELETE and ON UPDATE clauses set, I have changed to the other wrapper found at http://www.ch-werner.de/javasqlite. However, I find the documentation lacking somewhat when trying to get an overview on how it works and how to use it, and the function descriptions are very very short, and you have to scan through every function and somewhat guess how they work and what they do. I wasn't able to find any guides on google on how to use it. My question: Does anyone know a link for a guide or tutorial for the ch-werner.de/javasqlite wrapper, or else can give me a basic code example, or give a quick overview of querying the database and the most used functions, and how to use them?

    Hi, I want to make a apps that check what's the nearest place from where the user is. I can easily get the location of the user and I have a list of places with latitude and longitude. What would be the best way to know the nearest place of the list against the current position. I could not find anything in the google APIs.   • Debug .Net Framework's source code only shows disassembly in Visual Studio 2010

    Hi! I'm trying to debug .Net Framework's source code using Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I followed the steps described in Raj Kaimal's post but I must be doing something wrong since the only code I'm getting to see is the disassembly code: As you can see in the image, the Go to Source Code and the Load Symbols options are disabled. Nevertheless, symbols are downloaded from Microsoft's server since I can see them inside the local cache directory. The code I'm debugging goes as follow: var wr = WebRequest.Create("http://www.google.com"); Console.WriteLine("Web request created"); var req = wr.GetRequestStream(); Console.Read(); When I hit F11 to step into the first line of code, a window pops us looking for the "WebRequst.cs" file inside "f:\dd\ndp\fx\src\Net\System\Net\WebRequest.cs" which does not exists on my machine.     heya, We're coding together a Django app to handle reviews of newspaper articles. Each newspaper article model will an arbitrary number of tags associated with it. Also, each tag will have an optional ranking (0 to 10). I was thinking of using django-tagging to do this (http://code.google.com/p/django-tagging/), but I'm not sure of the best way to add the ranking to the system. Should I extend django-tagging somehow? (Not sure if this is possible, without changing django-tagging's actual code?). Or is there a better way of achieving this? Cheers, Victor

  • Perl "Day too big" - root cause

    I have been helping someone debug some code where the error message was "Day too big". I know that this springs from localtime and the Y2038 bug (most google results appear to be people dealing with cookies expiring well into the future). We appear to have 'fixed' the problem by using time to get the current date. However, given that none of our original dates should have hit the 2038 issue I'm sceptical that we've actually fixed the problem ... Are there other instances that anyone knows of where one would hit "day too big"?

  • Very slow remote page load performance in QtWebKit (Windows)

    I get very slow load times on QtWebKit on Windows 7, through ADSL. I am using the Qt Demo Browser, on a Core2 Quad, 64 bit Windows 7, 4GB ram, 2gb processor. through a VPN. Simplest example: google search page takes ~18 seconds to load, compared to 2.5 on Chrome (cash cleared). On larger pages, with scripts etc. it is worse. I tried Qt 4.6 and also the Qt 4.7 beta, but don't see any difference. I see the same results with Arora browser. Are there any settings, or patches that can be applied to fix this? Thanks

  • What's the future of std::valarray look like?

    Up until fairly recently I hadn't been keeping up with the C++0x deliberations. As I try to become more familiar with it the issues being worked, I've come across sites like this which seems to be advocating for deprecating or removing std::valarray since most people are using Blitz++ in any event. I guess I'm probably one of the few people out there who uses std::valarray (and yes I know the class has a sordid past, a tarnished present, and a questionable future). For me they work, and perhaps more important, they're part of the standard (for now any way). Aside from the one site above, I've been able to find very little on what is actually happening with std::valarray in the new standard, and was hoping that somebody on SO might be able to provide some insight and / or references where Google, Wikipedia and even the C++ Standards Committee Web Site have so far failed me.     I am trying to output a JSON string using PHP and MySQL but the latitude and longitude is outputting as a string with quotes around the values. This causes an issue when I am trying to add the markers to a google map.   • How to cut a "hole" inside a rectangular Sprite to see the Sprite underneath? (ActionScript 3)

    Everytime I google this question I see confusing information about masks and blends, none of which seems to directly apply to what I think should be an easy thing... There are three Sprites involved here...the lowest layer sprite is pretty much a background. I want to overlay a translucent Sprite on top of the background and then I want the third, top-most Sprite to act as a hole, so that the area inside the third Sprite is completely transparent, so that the background sprite is completely visible. How would I go about doing this dynamically (i.e. dynamically drawing the masking sprite and hole using the Actionscript graphics calls)?

    Hello, I wrote a little C# program that displays text in a balloon tip from time to time. When the text is in English, there's no problem : Everything is aligned to the left and is readable, but sometimes I have some Hebrew text and a left alignment of a RTL language gets all screwy. I was wondering if there's a way to right-align the Hebrew text ? Google pointed me to articles that can help me change the balloon color and font, but none of them have an alignment argument. Is it even possible ? Any help will be appropriated. John

  • IIS6 Metabase Compatiblity not installing correctly for Vista IIS7

    I've been bashing my head against this one for a few days, and haven't had any luck with it. I'm unable to get my VS2010 ASP.NET project to deploy to IIS. I receive the error "Unable to create the virtual directory. To access local IIS Web sites, you must install the following IIS Components IIS 6 Metabase and IIS 6 Configuration Compatibility ASP.NET In addition, you must run Visual Studio in the context of an Administrator Account" I've most certainly installed the metabase option, but it still shows up. I'm also not sure why it's telling me to install ASP.NET. Google is being entirely unhelpful, I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64Bit

  • Alternatives to javascript function-based iteration (e.g. jQuery.each())

    I've been watching Google Tech Talks' Speed Up Your Javascript and in talking about loops, the speaker mentions to stay away from function-based iterations such as jQuery.each() (among others, at about 24:05 in the video). He briefly explains why to avoid them which makes sense, but admittedly I don't quite understand what an alternative would be. Say, in the case I want to iterate through a column of table cells and use the value to manipulate the adjacent cell's value (just a quick example). Can anyone explain and give an example of an alternative to function-based iteration?

  • How to have onSearchRequested not open a web browser.

    I have a button in my app. When it is pressed I call the onSearchRequested() method. When this is called the stock search box comes up so the user can type some junk in there. When they press "Go" I need the results returned back to my application but instead the stock browser is opened and a google search is performed. How can I tell it to return the results to my application instead. I've tried these items in my manifest.xml file: <meta-data android:name="android.app.default_searchable" android:value=".MainActivity" /> <activity android:name=".MainActivity" android:launchMode="singleTop" <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.SEARCH" /> </intent-filter> I've also tried to capture the result in my onCreate with this: Intent intent = getIntent(); if (Intent.ACTION_SEARCH.equals(intent.getAction()))
