  • Making GridView Respond to 2 Drop Down Lists

    Hi there. I have got 2 Drop Down Lists on my Form and 1 GridView. I want GridView to display the data according to selection from the Drop Down Lists. For Example, One Drop Down List contains Names and other contains Dates. Both the Drop Down Lists can post back. So if i select a name from 1st Drop Down list, the Grid View should show all the results according to that Name. Similarly if i select the Date from the other Drop Down List , the Grid View should show the results according to the dates. But i cant figure out as how to bind Grid View to respond to 2 Drop Down List. BTW i am binding both the Drop Down Lists and the Grid View to the DataSource Objects, which is getting data from the database. Any Suggestions??

What's the better way to name them? way #1 kWalkSpeed kRunSpeed kEatSpeed kDrinkSpeed Or, way #2 kSpeedWalk kSpeedRun kSpeedEat kSpeedDrink If we evaluate these based on readability understandability not bug prone with subtle errors due to using wrong variable name I think way #1 wins readability, they tie for understandability, and way #2 wins for not bug prone. I'm not sure how often it happens to others, but when variable names like this get long, then its easy to write kSpeedEatingWhenInAHurry when you really meant kSpeedEatingWhenInHome, especially when using autocomplete. Any perspectives?

My script below loops through all users that are displayed after executing sp_change_users_login 'report' and apply "alter user [username] with login = [username]" to fix SID conflicts verses static go statements.   • Create event for another owner using Facebook Graph API

    Hi, I'm at the moment working on a web page where the users who visit it should have the possibility to create an event in my web page's name. There is a Page on Facebook for the web page which should be the owner of the user created event. Is this possible? All users are authenticated using Facebook Connect, but since the event won't be created in their name I don't know if that's so much of help. The Python SDK will be used since the event shall be implemented server side. / D

  • MySQL count problem

    I have 3 tables users(id,name),groups(id,name) and users_groups(user_id,group_id). users and groups have many to many relationship, so the third one is for storing users and groups relations. I would like to select all the data from groups with user count in each group. So far I came up with this: SELECT groups.*, COUNT(users_groups.user_id) AS user_count FROM groups LEFT JOIN users_groups ON users_groups.group_id = groups.id The problem is that query result is not returning any of groups which has no users (users_groups doesnt have any records with group_id of those groups). How should I create my query to select all the groups and they user count, or user count as 0 if there are no users for that group?

  • Stop PHP from creating arrays in $_POST superglobal

    PHP will automatically convert <input type="text" name="foo[0]" value="x" /> <input type="text" name="foo[1]" value="y" /> into $_POST['foo'] = array( 0 => 'x', 1 => 'y' ); Which is what you want most of the time. However, in this case I would like this not to happen. Is there anyway to tell PHP to not do this? I realize I could parse php://input myself, but I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it. I also don't have the option of renaming the input names.

  • Is it possible to query a XML file with SQL?

    Currently I'm working on a case where we don't want to change to much on a c#/wpf program, but like to add a feature. Currently we allow certain users to add sql queries to a database to retrieve customer data, hereby a custom connection string/ provider name must be specified. With this information it's possible to create the connection and obtain the data with c#. However we like to add the possibility to allow that user group to query XML files too, with a certain connection string/ provider name. I just had a look for possibities in .net to do that, but can't seem to find a decent way... Is something like this possible? (OleDb/ODBC way maybe?) Thanks in advance.

    I have a project where I'm loading relative image Uri's from an xml file. I'm loading the image like this: if (child.Name == "photo" && child.Attributes["href"] != null && File.Exists(child.Attributes["href"].Value)) { Image image = new Image(); image.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(child.Attributes["href"].Value, UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute)); images.Add(image); } Where the "child" object is an XmlNode which could looks like this <photo name="info" href="Resources\Content\test.png"/> During debug it seemd images is filled with actual images but when I want to see them in any way it shows nothing. Weird thing is when I include the images in my project it does work, I however dont want to do that since my point for using an xml file is so that it would be lost since you'd have to rebuild the program anyway after a change.

    I have two table testa & testb. CREATE TABLE `testa` ( `id` INT(10) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` VARCHAR(50) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ); CREATE TABLE `testb` ( `id` INT(10) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` VARCHAR(50) DEFAULT NULL, `aid1` INT(10) DEFAULT NULL, `aid2` INT(10) DEFAULT NULL, `aid3` INT(10) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ); Currently I am running below query for retrieving all rows where id in testa table matches with any columns of aid1,aid2,aid3 in tableb. The query is retreiving acurate result but it is taking minimum 30 seconds to execute which is too much. I have also tried to optimise my query using UNION but failed to do so. SELECT a.id, a.name, b.name, b.id FROM testb b INNER JOIN testa a ON b.aid1 = a.id OR b.aid2 = a.id OR b.aid3 = a.id ; How do i optimize my query so it's total execution time is within 2-3 seconds? I tried moving the code to a separate class and found that I could not use Controls.Add(). How can I add controls to the Form from a separate class?   • Am I using too much jQuery? When am I crossing the line?

    Lately I found myself using jQuery and JavaScript a lot, often to do the same things that I did before using CSS. For example, I alternate table rows color or create buttons and links hover effects using JavaScript/jQuery. Is this acceptable? Or should I keep using CSS for these kinds of things? So the real question is: When I'm using too much jQuery? How can I understand when I'm crossing the line?

    hey guys i have a tag table in my php/mysql project that looks like this Table name : bt_tags Table fileds : tid,tag and for every story rows there is a filed named : tags Table name: stories table filed : tags that saved in this field as ids 1 5 6 space between them now problem : when using while loop to fetch all fields in story table , the page uses 1 query to show every stories' detail but for showing tag's names , i should query another table to find names , we have ids stored in story table now i used for loop between while loop to show tag names but im sure there is a better way to decrease page queries how can i improve this script and show tag's names without using *for loop ?* $result = $db->sql_query("SELECT * FROM ".STORY_TABLE." When I view the website in browser, I get the server not found error. I debugged the EfDbContext class and found that the Database.Connection.ConnectionString is set to \SqlExpress with database as EfDbContext. Why is that?
