  Here is a test framework to show what I am doing: create a new project add a tabbed control on tab 1 put a button on tab 2 put a check box paste this code for its code (use default names for controls) public partial class Form1 : Form { private List<bool> boolList = new List<bool>(); BindingSource bs = new BindingSource(); public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); boolList.Add(false); bs.DataSource = boolList; checkBox1.DataBindings.Add("Checked", bs, ""); this.button1.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.button1_Click); this.checkBox1.CheckedChanged += new System.EventHandler(this.checkBox1_CheckedChanged); } bool updating = false; private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { updating = true; boolList[0] = true; bs.ResetBindings(false); Application.DoEvents(); updating = false; } private void checkBox1_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!updating) MessageBox.Show("CheckChanged fired outside of updating"); } } The issue is if you run the program and look at tab 2 then press the button on tab 1 the program works as expected, however if you press the button on tab 1 then look at tab 2 the event for the checkbox will not fire untill you look at tab 2. The reason for this is the controll on tab 2 is not in the "created" state, so its binding to change the checkbox from unchecked to checked does not happen until after the control has been "Created". checkbox1.CreateControl() does not do anything because according to MSDN CreateControl does not create a control handle if the control's Visible property is false. You can either call the CreateHandle method or access the Handle property to create the control's handle regardless of the control's visibility, but in this case, no window handles are created for the control's children. I tried getting the value of Handle(there is no public CreateHandle() for CheckBox) but still the same result. Any suggestions other than have the program quickly flash all of my tabs that have data-bound check boxes when it first loads? EDIT-- per Jaxidian's suggestion I created a new class public class newcheckbox : CheckBox { public new void CreateHandle() { base.CreateHandle(); } } I call CreateHandle() right after updating = true same results as before.

• Google map in user control not loading from aspx code behind

  I am using Google maps API for proximity search. I have all this in an ascx client side. I have a button in the aspx code behind. The initial load of the map is fine. But on the button click, the map is not being loaded though all the other controls are loading properly. The controls are in an Update Panel and I am new to using these. Would appreciate in any suggestions made.

  These days I'm working on a VB.NET application which can be used to edit, compile and run C programs. Can someone tell me how I can call a cl.exe process from within my VB program and also that how do I run the program in the console widow itself. Presently I have only the editor ready. With that one can type in a program and save it with a ".c" extension. Now there are 2 buttons on my form - "Compile" and "Run". When the user clicks on the "Compile" button, the program should be passed to the cl.exe process and the errors should be displayed in another textbox or the DOS(black screen itself). And when the user clicks on the "Run" button, the ".exe" file which just got created should get executed.

  Hi all. I've got a hidden form field, and when a button gets pressed the value of the hidden field is changed. Now, I've added an observer to the hidden field, listening for changes to occur. For some reason, though, the event listener never kicks in, even though the value of the hidden element changes. I'm using Prototype and Firefox 3.6. The code looks roughly like this: button.observe('click', function(event) { hiddenField.setValue(someValue); }); hiddenField.observe('change', function(event) { alert('It works!'); }); Does anyone have a clue why the latter observer doesn't execute? • Limit to area that receives touch events

  Is there's a bounding box on an application that receives touch events? I created a few sample round rect buttons and placed them in different places in my view. The ones in the center of the view receive touch events (and show the highlighted blue color) but if I place a button near the edges of the view, only parts of them are clickable in the simulator. Is this because of Apples style guidelines? I placed a button exactly where a UITabNavigationItem would appear and only the bottom half of it is clickable.

  I just installed VS2010 and the great new IronPython Tools extension. Currently this extension doesn't yet generate event handlers in code upon double-clicking wpf visual controls. Is there anyone that can provide or point me to an example as to how to code wpf event handlers manually in python. I've had no luck finding any and I am new to visual studio. • Page doesn't un-cache itself in ASP.NET C#

  Hi, I sometimes find that I need to press CTRL+REFRESH BUTTON (or simply REFRESH BUTTON) in order for pages to be updated. I thought this may have been a problem with using AJAX Update Panel and things, but it also happens on pages where there is no AJAX partial rendering. I have also removed if(!isPostBack), and yet still I need to refresh the page for the contents to be updated. Is it to do with the cache? Does anyone know of a fix for this? I believe it only happens with IE 7 (which I am using). I tried the same feature with Chrome, and it worked as it is supposed to.

  I am implementing an in-app browser using UIWebView, that shows an 'action' button up-top that - when tapped - scales the UIWebView and allows the user to perform some other actions. If, however, at the point of tapping this 'action' button, the user were entering some text on the webview, or using a picker to select an option from a drop-down list, then the webview gets scaled without dismissing the keyboard/picker. Apart from being ugly, this also obscures my main view and controls. So is there a way to make a UIWebView dismiss all associated input controls, such as keyboards/pickers, when asked to? I tried using [myWebView resignFirstResponder] but that didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

  Hello All: I just downloaded the latest FBConnect build, popped in my keys and getting a mysterious hanging error only when I try to post a feed without previewing (setting preview to zero). The activity indicated disappears and the blank dialog window just hangs there. (This mirrors what I was getting on the app I was developing). If I try to post a feed with preview it works; set preview to zero it just hangs. Again; thats with the sample project "Publish Feed" button. Hitting getting permission button and then Publish Feed does same thing...... Other Developers have confirmed seeing this too...Apps that have previously had working feed posts have been broken for weeks. Discussions on facebook connect forum seem to be related to this.   Hello, I'm trying to get every windows message that tells that the user has touched the screen. It works everywhere, except the button, when it is disabled. It seems that the application doesn't get any message when clicked on disabled control. I'm using OpenNetCF Application2 class for filtering messages: Application2.AddMessageFilter(Device.PowerManager); Application2.Run(new MainForm()); PowerManager class contains a following method (as required by IMessageFilter interface): public bool PreFilterMessage(ref Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.Message m) { log.DebugFormat("windows message {0} - 0x{0:X}", m.Msg); if (m.Msg == 0x0201 || m.Msg == 0x8001 || m.Msg == 0x0005) { return this.ResetPowerManager(); } return false; } in the log file there is no indication of a windows message when clicking on disabled button. I'm wondering how is it possible and how can I get this message.

  I have created a servlet which displays a form having some fields and a submit button and also created a web service having methods which are needed in my servlet. I have deployed the web service on Tomcat 5.5.9/Axis and servlet web application on Tomcat ( same instance of Tomcat) using eclipse. Since one is web service and other is web application both are running on separate instances of tomcat, so when i run them separately i.e servlet without the call to web service and a client that access that webservice it works fine but when i integrate them both i get a error like exception: javax.servlet.ServletException I would like to call the web service and return the result when i press the button Please advice me on how to implement that.

  Hi, I have a requirement of changing an existing JSF 1.1 project where I need to add an additional row to a datatable on click of a button. Currently the datatable loads 3 rows from the backing bean and this new button should add additional rows to the datatable on each click. Using the suggestion provided by http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/06/using-datatables.html I was able to display the additional row on the UI but I could not save the new data back to the database because the backing bean is in request scope and I cannot change the scope of this bean as it would create other issues. Can somebody provide me a solution to display the new row and also to save the data back to the database when the backing bean is in request scope. Thanks Shyam

  I am trying to unlock a file from a C# program, using unlocker. In my UI, I put a button to unlock the file the app couldn't delete. When the user pushes the button, I want unlocker (the famous app) to be opened. I have read about in the Unlocker web, and there is some explanations about the commandline to use but nothing works. I write the following code but nothing happens: "c:\Program Files\unlocker\unlocker.exe" -L "PATHFORTHEFILE.doc" Nothing happens. I have tried without parameters and with -LU. Any idea? Something more efficient than unlocker to integrate it with software?

• Resizing a UIButton programmatically by maintaining a margin

  Hello, I'm adding a UIButton to a tableView footer programmatically. This button has a left and right margin that is equal to the tableView margin: UIButton *deleteButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; deleteButton.frame = CGRectMake(10, 60, 300, 34); deleteButton.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth I'm adding autoresizingMask because I want to support rotation. However, it does not work as I want, as the button stretches all the way down to the right, as shown by the image below. Any idea how to fix it? If I remove the autosizing property then the margin is correct.

• Facebook Connect via Javascript doesn't close and doesn't pass session id

However after authentication, the popup window just stays open and the main window is not directed anywhere. In fact, it is the popup window that goes to "/register/step2" How can I get the login window to close as expected, and to pass the facebook session id to /register/step2? Thanks!

  In a ASP.NET application I have a paging RadGrid which shows up textbox in each row. Outside the grid, there is an OK button to save the content of all the textbox. If user changes text in any one or more of the textbox and without clicking on the "OK" button, tries to move to a different page number (of the grid by clicking on the page number), he should be prompted for confirmation of save or cancel the changes. I am guessing that one can write a Javascript function which would look for any form input control (textbox in my case) and detect changes and If there are changes, would prompt the user. However, I am not sure where I can call this function from? Any suggestion on this or a better way to achieve this would be appreciated. I am using RadGrid but I guess this should be applicable to GridView as well.

• User Control's Page Init Event Not Firing After Another User Control Using

  I have an user control. I add dynamicly control to this control on its Page Init. This user control's parent Page's every postback, its page init works fine. After I added an different user control to Page. In Second User control, user select photos and uploads them with asyncfileupload control(AJAX). And I save all of them with a button at the end of Page. In EveryPostBack Parent Page Load event works. If I dont select any photo from Second User Control, First User Control's Page Init event works fine when I click Save Button. But if I select a photo, first User Control dont work. What is the problem?

  I have a service monitor app that monitors the status of three other servers app - you know those kind of green, red status stuff, start, stop, etc. The problem is that it shows the wrong state in Windows 7 even if the user is the administrator. The start, stop buttons are disabled and the install button enabled, the status color is grey which is also wrong. The start button should be enabled with the service status showing green - the apps are running. If the application is run with the setting "run as administrator" then it behaves normally. The application is written in Delphi 7 and works perfectly in other versions of Windows. This line of code: OpenSCManager(PChar(sMachine),Nil,SC_MANAGER_ALL_ACCESS) always return 0 under Win7, causing the problem. Any ideas and if possible, any workaround apart from "run as administrator". Regards Ronaldo
