I recently made the mistake of leaving my brand-new iPad on my kitchen counter... and my wife dropped home-made peanut butter on it. Does Apple cover this type of damage?

How can I get the Google Chrome web browser on my TV for under $100? ($200 MAX)
I have a TV with HDMI and component inputs (but no bluetooth so firmware modding is out.)
I want the solution to work with bluetooth peripherals--I already have a wireless Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse.
I don't want a laptop or a desktop computer, unless it's in the general form factor of an HTPC or Mac Mini.
Is there a way to make this happen?
I bought an audiobook on iTunes on my computer. Can I, using the same account, download the file onto my phone, via the iTunes app, without being charged again? Or do I have to sync? I'm afraid to try it, because I know if I am charged, Apple won't give me a re-fund, even though I've already purchased the book.
Hi all
iMac 24" Late 2006 Mac OS X (10.6.3)
I'm trying to install Bootcamp. I've partitioned my HD but when I reboot with the Windows installation disk I get a black (blank) screen.
The advice from the Apple Support website is to install the MXM Update but when I run that as per the instructions I get this error:
An unexpected error occurred (11.1). Your firmware cannot be updated.
Any ideas on how to proceed?
Thanks.
I have an Xserve running OS X Server 10.4.11. It has Apple File Protocol enabled to share a few dozen sharepoints on the local network.
I would occasionally like to get a listing of who is currently connected to the server (easily done with Server Admin), but I would like to know which sharepoints they have mounted on their local computer.
On Windows 7, I have (unfortunately) installed Apple Quicktime.
And it seems to have decided that it's the choosen one for displaying .png files in IE (when clicking on .png links)
I have, however, not QuickTime as the associated program for .png extensions in the Default Programs control applet in Windows 7.
How do I remove QucikTime as the prefered .png viewer?
I ran into some problems with my iPod, and am trying to restore a backup following this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
I tried following the section under "Restoring your iPhone or iPod touch". When it gets to step 9, it simply doesn't show up - the restore happens, the iPod restarts, but I DO NOT get an option to set it up as a new device, or restore a backup. A backup does exist (checked the location).
Any ideas on how I can restore the backup?
The title says it all. Is there a way to make the loginwindow process start a user session by running a command when remotely logged in via SSH as an admin on Mac OS X?
When the machine is at the login window (no user is currently logged in), I want it to open up a user's session as if I had clicked on the username and entered a password.
Solutions that don't involve scripting the GUI are highly preferred, but this Apple KB page may be of interest for those who go that route.
I have a MacBook (Late '08 13 In. Aluminum) with the Apple provided power adapter. I think it may be failing because
It takes a little moving around with the cable nearest where it connects to the MacBook to get it to charge (small light turns on).
The area of cable nearest the MacBook gets very hot, almost burning.
Any ideas of how I could fix it? Hopefully without replacing the adapter.
Thanks in advance!
There are numerous ways to get the podcast feed for standard iTunes podcasts like this or this, however, neither of these methods work on the podcast feeds in iTunes U.
I don't want to use iTunes, how can I find the alternative xml podcast feed? Here's one for example: http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Feed/fora.tv.1901773207.01901773213
How can I subscribe to this feed outside of iTunes? I have tried emailing the publisher (Fora.tv) numerous times but they never respond.
I need to buy A1175 battery for my macbook 15''. Which one should I buy: MA681LL/A or MA348G/A? Which one is better?
I remember it was an issue with A1175 batteries. And then apple replaced the batteries that hold about year or two to another batteries that hold about 4 years. I just don't remember which is which.
I want to download free application from the App Store. I have an Apple Id but when I try downloading an app, it asks me for credit card information. Is it necessary to give credit card details for downloading free apps as well?
I'm trying to configure hMailserver with a 3rd party SSL cert. I'v
1) Installed the SSL key & cert
2) Placed the hash named CA and intermediate in to the \externals\cs folder
Now, the connection between the mail client and the server is secure and works. The issue is that mail clients outlook, apple mail, others issue an untrusted cert warning.
I've followed several threads on the forums, but none seem to solve this problem
I'm using MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009).
Can I use this MacBook Pro with a 30 inch display? If yes, which monitor supports it? If I'm current, Apple's 30 inch display doesn't support 13-inch MacBook Pro's.
Pre-Snow Leopard, I could use the following command:
defaults write com.apple.loginwindow Finder /Applications/My-replacement-app-such-as-Terminal.app
Which would a.) replace the Finder launching at login with an application of my choice, and b.) cause that application to launch instead of Finder when all other applications are quit.
Is it possible to do this in Snow Leopard, or has this behavior been deprecated? (I don't want to disable Finder altogether, I just don't want it to start at login.)
I am looking to release and renew my IP address in OS X 10.4 using Terminal. Essentially, I need the OS X equivalent of Windows:
C:\ ipconfig /release
C:\ ipconfig /renew
However, I need the interface to remain active during this process, so using ifconfig down/up will not work. I believe I can clear the IP with ifconfig delete but I'm not sure how to get the dhcp client to reassign the address. An article from 2002 suggests using set dhcp but Apple's ifconfig man page does not include this information.
altscreen is evil. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see this page
for visual demonstration.
Problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way to stop it with Terminal.app (under OSX), when you're not using screen. Yes, you can edit terminfo definition, but that's rather blunt hammer. Plus that solution might break if Apple decides to update relevant term's definition in some patch. Is there some clean way to convince Terminal.app to block altscreen usage?
I can not run the Terminal.app after rolling back my system from time machine.
Mac OS X Version 10.6.2
It displays the following error.
"Your are not authorized to run this application"
"The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value"
After that I have deleted the file
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Terminal.plist
But the same message is displayed.
I have repaired all system rights with the DiskUtility but that did not help.
My music library lives on my FreeBSD server, mostly in "Apple Lossless" M4A format, but with MP3s mixed in. My laptop accesses it via AFP.
What can I use on FreeBSD to share the music with my XBox 360?
Hi
When selecting the volume in the installation program it says "You cannot install Merucrial on this volume. Mercurial requires Apple Python 2.6". I tried installing the latest version of Python from python.org but no luck.

Peter
The wireless internet on my Mac became extremely slow recently on my 27" IMac. I don't recall doing anything different other than doing the Apple Software updates which I let it pop up and install automatically. On my Mac Book internet is still fine so I don't think it's the model or the router.
I'm not sure where to start digging the cause of this or how to solve it. Looking into the System Preferences on my IMac, it's pretty identical to my MacBook!
I just bought a new macbook pro 15'. This is my first mac. I really hate the Apple font in dreamweaver or when I'm doing any kind of coding. I can't read it. I should buy glasses but in the mean time is there any way to change the font and font size of dreamweaver? Thanks.
Apple lets you Stream video over HTTP with their new tech, but is there a URI scheme to open the .m3u8 files from a browser in Quicktime X? (ie. Open as a URL, rather than downloading and attempting to play the local file)
Like any other Apple product, OS X prides itself on the little details. When, earlier last week, I used my professor's Mac briefly to give a quick project presentation (mine decided to do a chkdsk at the wrong time, heh), I got the distinct feeling some were put intentionally to make the uninitiated look stupid.
What are the small usability details that Windows and Linux users will trip on when their Mac using friend lend them their beloved Mac for some quick web browsing?
