  • Update of application Icon in Windows-7 Taskbar

    I have a normal MFC Application with an embedded icon. If I start the application, the icon is shown inside the windows-7 taskbar. But when I change the icon inside the resources, rebuild the application and start it, the taskbar doesn't show the current icon, but the icon from the first run. There is no special code inside the application that does something specific with the windows-7 taskbar. Is there a way, (in C++) to tell the windows-7 taskbar to show the current icon?

    I have a Sprint MiFi 3G router that exposes its current signal strength over HTTP. I've developed a very simple tray application that displays this. However, what I would really like to do is create a custom network connection entry so the router's 3G signal strength (along with the current network version) displays when clicking on the network connections tray icon (in Windows 7, at least). Is it possible to do this with a shell extension or something (preferably in C#)? If so, how?

    The application on which I am working has a web service exposing various methods. Most of these methods use WebOperationContext.Current to set headers up to prevent cacheing. This works fine when the service methods are consumed in AJAX via the generated proxy, but when I attempt to do the same thing from code-behind, WebOperationContext.Current is null. Can anyone tell me how to confer appropriate call context on the method invocation?

    Scenario: I am maintaining a function which helps with an install - copies files from PathPart1/pending_install/PathPart2/fileName to PathPart1/PathPart2/fileName. It seems that String.Replace() and Path.Combine() do not play well together. The code is below. I added this section: // The behavior of Path.Combine is weird.     I am trying to update a datetime column in an android sqlite db to use international date format (yyyy-mm-dd) instead of the current format (mm/dd/yyyy). I want to use the sqlite date() function to reformat the current value of the column. I thought it would be as simple as the following: update tblename set thedate = date(thedate) but the above does not work. How would i write the sql statement to accomplish this? thanks patrick

That page says, "Please use the documentation appropriate to your current version" but I can't find anything other than the current version (1.8.0) on the Web site - I had to resort to using archive.org to find the old version (which I would consider a hack, not a clean solution)...

    When I submit my MVC Page I get an IvalidOperationException from System.Web.Mvc Controller object in the UpdateModel method. the MSDN documentation states that this method does the following: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. Is the value provider referencing the current Request object? Or where exactly does it get the values that it is using to update the model? And what specifically does the UpdateModel method check and what does it 'mean' when it says that The model of type 'abcXYZ' was not successfully updated Thanks
