  • How to call an extended procedure from a function

    - by Alan Featherston Lago
hi im having trouble trying to get the following function to work. CREATE FUNCTION test ( @nt_group VARCHAR(128) ) RETURNS @nt_usr TABLE ( [name] [nchar](128) NULL , [type] [char](8) NULL , [privilege] [char](9) NULL , [mapped login name] [nchar](128) NULL , [permission path] [nchar](128) NULL ) AS BEGIN INSERT INTO @nt_usr EXEC master.dbo.xp_logininfo 'DOMAIN\USER', @nt_group RETURN END As far as i know i should be allowed to call an extended stored procedure, im getting the following error Mes 443, Level 16, State 14 Could it be that xp_logininfo might return different result sets depending on the parameters? When i use openquery i can overcome this by setting this: SET FMTONLY OFF. Does anyone know if there's a similar workaround for my problem?

  • Directly call distutils' or setuptools' setup() function with command name/options, without parsing

    - by Ryan B. Lynch
I'd like to call Python's distutils' or setuptools' setup() function in a slightly unconventional way, but I'm not sure whether distutils is meant for this kind of usage. As an example, let's say I currently have a 'setup.py' file, which looks like this (lifted verbatim from the distutils docs--the setuptools usage is almost identical): from distutils.core import setup setup(name='Distutils', version='1.0', description='Python Distribution Utilities', author='Greg Ward', author_email='[email protected]', url='http://www.python.org/sigs/distutils-sig/', packages=['distutils', 'distutils.command'], ) Normally, to build just the .spec file for an RPM of this module, I could run python setup.py bdist_rpm --spec-only, which parses the command line and calls the 'bdist_rpm' code to handle the RPM-specific stuff. The .spec file ends up in './dist'. How can I change my setup() invocation so that it runs the 'bdist_rpm' command with the '--spec-only' option, WITHOUT parsing command-line parameters? Can I pass the command name and options as parameters to setup()? Or can I manually construct a command line, and pass that as a parameter, instead? NOTE: I already know that I could call the script in a separate process, with an actual command line, using os.system() or the subprocess module or something similar. I'm trying to avoid using any kind of external command invocations. I'm looking specifically for a solution that runs setup() in the current interpreter. For background, I'm converting some release-management shell scripts into a single Python program. One of the tasks is running 'setup.py' to generate a .spec file for further pre-release testing. Running 'setup.py' as an external command, with its own command line options, seems like an awkward method, and it complicates the rest of the program. I feel like there may be a more Pythonic way.

  • Excel 2007 - Adding line breaks in a cell and no line over 50 characters

    - by Richard Drew
I have notes stored in an excel cell. I add line breaks and dates every time I add a new note. I need to copy this to another program, but it has a line limit of 50 characters. I want a line break for each new date and for when each date's comment goes over 50 characters. I'm able to do one or the other, but I can't figure out how to do both. I'd prefer words not to be split up, but at this point I don't care. Below is some sample input. If needed for a SUBSTITUTE or REPLACE function, I could add a ~ before each date in my input as a delimiter. Sample Input: 07/03 - FU on query. Copies and history included. CC to Jane Doe and John Public 06/29 - Cust claiming not to have these and wrong PO on query form. Responded with inv sent dates and locations, correct PO values, and copies. 06/27 - New ticket opened using query form 06/12 - Opened ticket with helpdesk asking status 05/21 - Copy submitted to [email protected] 05/14 - Copy sent to John Public and [email protected] Ideal Output: 07/03 - FU on query. Copies and history included. CC to Jane Doe and John Public 06/29 - Cust claiming not to have these and wrong PO on query form. Responded with inv sent dates an d locations, correct PO values, and copies. 06/27 - New ticket opened using query form 06/12 - Opened ticket with helpdesk asking status 05/21 - Copy submitted to [email protected] om 05/14 - Copy sent to John Public and email@custome r.com

  • Every subsequent call to an Axis webservice fails

    - by cudiaco
I've been having a strange issue with an Axis webservice which is called through the https protocol. Basically, when an invocation is made, the call goes through just fine. If the call is made again, the web service fails, returning me with the following message: <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <soapenv:Body> <soapenv:Fault> <faultcode>soapenv:Server.userException</faultcode> <faultstring>org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Unexpected end of file after null</faultstring> <detail> <ns1:hostname xmlns:ns1="http://xml.apache.org/axis/">f0s0</ns1:hostname> </detail> </soapenv:Fault> </soapenv:Body> </soapenv:Envelope> When tested locally (through http), the service works perfectly fine. Has anyone encountered an issue like this before? Any help is appreciated.

  • Function Pointer from base class

    - by camelord
Hi there, i need a Function Pointer from a base class. Here is the code: class CActionObjectBase { ... void AddResultStateErrorMessage( const char* pcMessage , ULONG iResultStateCode); ... } CActionObjectCalibration( ): CActionObjectBase() { ... m_Calibration = new CCalibration(&CActionObjectBase::AddResultStateErrorMessage); } class CCalibration { ... CCalibration(void (CActionObjectBase::* AddErrorMessage)(const char*, ULONG )); ... void (CActionObjectBase::* m_AddErrorMessage)(const char*, ULONG ); } Inside CCalibration in a Function occurs the Error. I try to call the Function Pointer like this: if(m_AddErrorMessage) { ... m_AddErrorMessage("bla bla", RSC_FILE_ERROR); } The Problem is, that I cannot compile. The Error Message says something like: error C2064: Expression is no Function, that takes two Arguments. What is wrong? regards camelord

  • C++ Templates: implicit conversion, no matching function for call to ctor

    template<class T> class test { public: test() { } test(T& e) { } }; int main() { test<double> d(4.3); return 0; } Compiled using g++ 4.4.1 with the following errors: g++ test.cpp -Wall -o test.exe test.cpp: In function 'int main()': test.cpp:18: error: no matching function for call to 'test<double>::test(double) ' test.cpp:9: note: candidates are: test<T>::test(T&) [with T = double] test.cpp:5: note: test<T>::test() [with T = double] test.cpp:3: note: test<double>::test(const test<double>&) make: *** [test.exe] Error 1 However, this works: double a=1.1; test<double> d(a); Why is this happing? Is it possible that g++ cannot implicitly convert literal expression 1.1 to double? Thanks.

  • asyncronous call doesn't return json

    - by Rebecca
I am running wamp on an xp box. I am fairly new to web programming, this is for a student project, and have run out of avenues to try to solve this problem. Problem We have client side JavaScript code that uses GDownloadUrl- from the Google api- to wrap xmlHttpRequest calls to a php server side program that is accessing our database. In my callback program, the result of this call is always " ". However, if I use an alert to display the http:// call, with the arguments, and cut and paste that into my browser, the json I expected is displayed. I zipped my dir containing all the files, and tried it out on another team member's computer, and they were able to get the json in the callback function. Note this is exactly the same code and structure I was using, he just unzipped and ran. So now I'm thinking this is something about Firefox or Wamp? Would this be a config problem? I'm running wamp server 2.0, and Firefox 3.5.8. I have no problems with syncronous php, or reading in files asyncronously. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rebecca

  • Virtual Function Implementation

    - by Gokul
Hi, I have kept hearing this statement. Switch..Case is Evil for code maintenance, but it provides better performance(since compiler can inline stuffs etc..). Virtual functions are very good for code maintenance, but they incur a performance penalty of two pointer indirections. Say i have a base class with 2 subclasses(X and Y) and one virtual function, so there will be two virtual tables. The object has a pointer, based on which it will choose a virtual table. So for the compiler, it is more like switch( object's function ptr ) { case 0x....: X->call(); break; case 0x....: Y->call(); }; So why should virtual function cost more, if it can get implemented this way, as the compiler can do the same in-lining and other stuff here. Or explain me, why is it decided not to implement the virtual function execution in this way? Thanks, Gokul.

  • Jquery class changing works, but doesn't effect another function like it should

    - by Qwibble
So I have content boxes that close and expand when you click an arrow. The content box has two classes for telling whether it is open or closed (.box_open, .box_closed). A hover function is assigned to box_open so when it is open and you hover over the header, the arrow appears. However, I don't want this to happen when the box is closed, as I want to arrow to remain visible when the box is closed. When the box closes, the box_open class is removed, but the function assigned to that class still works. Here's the jquery code for the two functions. You can also see them in the head of the demo below. // Display Arrow on Box Header Hover $(".box_open").hover( function () { $(this).find('a').show(); }, function () { $(this).find('a').hide(); } ); // Open and Close Boxes: $(".box_header a").click( function () { $(this).parent().next('.box_border').stop().toggle(); $(this).parent().toggleClass("box_open"); $(this).parent().toggleClass("box_closed"); return false; } ); Can anyone take a look at what the problem is? Here's the demo url: Demo Url

  • jQuery get Function Not Returning Data

    - by senfo
I'm trying to use the jQuery get function to render the results of an HTML page in a div on my page. The result of the get function appears to be successful because the value of textStatus (in the following code block) is "success". The value of data, however, is always empty. $(document).ready(function() { $.get('http://www.google.com', function(data, textStatus){ $('#RSSContent').html(textStatus + ' ' + data); }); }); Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Note: The final code will query an RSS feed, which I plan on transforming and rendering as HTML in the RSSContent div. I simply used http://www.google.com for testing purposes.

  • Windows service threading call to WCF service

    - by Sam Brinsted
Hi, I have a windows service that is reading data from a database and then submitting it to a WCF serivce. Once that has finished it is stamping a processed date on the original record. Trouble I am currently having is to do with threading. The call to the WCF serivce is relatively long and I want to have a number of concurrent calls to the service to help improve the throughput of the windows service. Currently I have a submitToService method on a new worker class. Upon reading a new row from the database I am creating a new thread which is calling this method. This obviously isn't too good as the number of threads quickly shoots up and overburdens the WCF service. I have put a thread.sleep in the submit method and am sure to call System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.Abort(); after the submission has finished. However, I don't seem to see the number of threads go down. How can I just have a fixed number of threads that can be used in the windows service? I did think about using a thread pool but read somewhere that wasn't a good choice for a windows service. Thanks very much.

  • getting the "this" that a function's caller was called with in JavaScript

    - by David Morrissey
Is it possible to get the this that a function's caller was called with in JavaScript without passing this to the arguments in a way which supports IE as well as Firefox/Chrome et al? For example: var ob = { callme: function() { doSomething() } } function doSomething() { alert(doSomething.caller.this === ob) // how can I make this work? } ob.callme() I'm starting to suspect it's not, but I thought I may as well ask as it'd make my code much shorter and easier to read. Thanks for any information!
