  • Approach for altering Primary Key from GUID to BigInt in SQL Server related tables

    I have two tables with 10-20 million rows that have GUID primary keys and at leat 12 tables related via foreign key. The base tables have 10-20 indexes each. We are moving from GUID to BigInt primary keys. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on an approach. Right now this is the approach I'm pondering: Drop all indexes and fkeys on all the tables involved. Add 'NewPrimaryKey' column to each table Make the key identity on the two base tables Script the data change "update table x, set NewPrimaryKey = y where OldPrimaryKey = z Rename the original primarykey to 'oldprimarykey' Rename the 'NewPrimaryKey' column 'PrimaryKey' Script back all the indexes and fkeys Does this seem like a good approach? Does anyone know of a tool or script that would help with this? TD: Edited per additional information.   • Delete an entity by key without fetching it first in app engine (using JDO)

    Is there a way to delete an entity without having to fetch it from the datastore first? I am assuming I already have the key or id for the entity. I'm thinking of something like deleteObjectById that would be an analogue to getObjectById on PersistenceManager. The closest I can think of is using Query.deletePersistentAll() (as seen here) and specifying a query that only relies on the key, but I can't tell if that is going to fetch the entity before deleting it. thanks EDIT: I know how to do this using the low level API, as well as in the python API. I was wondering if there was a way to do it within the JDO layer.

  • Rails 3: habtm migration, primary key issue

    I'm trying to setup a migration file for a habtm relationship, however when I run the migration I'm getting the following error: Primary key is not allowed in a has_and_belongs_to_many join table (parts_vehicles). Here is my migration file (20110111035950_create_parts_vehicles.rb): class CreatePartsVehiclesJoinTable < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :parts_vehicles, :id => false do |t| t.integer :part_id t.integer :vehicle_id end end def self.down drop_table :parts_vehicles end end The documentation example states to use :id => false to disable a primary key from being generated, but I'm still getting the error.

    When using :methods in to_json, is there a way to rename the key? I'm trying to replace the real id with a base62 version of it and I want that the value of base62_id has the key id. @obj.to_json( :except => :id :methods => :base62_id ) I tried to do @obj.to_json( :except => :id :methods => { :id => :base62_id } ) but that didn't work. Any advice?

  • Get a value from hashtable by a part of its key

Say I have a Hashtable<String, Object> with such keys and values: apple => 1 orange => 2 mossberg => 3 I can use the standard get method to get 1 by "apple", but what I want is getting the same value (or a list of values) by a part of the key, for example "ppl". Of course it may yield several results, in this case I want to be able to process each key-value pair. So basically similar to the LIKE '%ppl%' SQL statement, but I don't want to use a (in-memory) database just because I don't want to add unnecessary complexity. What would you recommend?

    Me and a friend are writing a plugin for jQuery that makes it easy for devs to add key shortcuts and we're damn close but no cigar. We're having issues with the key combos. It seems like we are having issues when you call the same selector multiple times on a page. Try pressing alt+a... youll see it works one time, then gets all mangled up. Anyone know how to fix it? It'll be on github after it's corrected and I'd be happy to add "thank you to" link to whoever can fix this in the header with the copyright info :) It's nicely documented and i have all the code and stuff here.     I have 2 tables that I import to EF model. First table has a property [section] that acts as foreign key to the second table. When I map this property in model to the table and try to compile I get this error: Problem in Mapping Fragments starting at lines 158, 174: Non-Primary-Key column(s) [Section] are being mapped in both fragments to different conceptual side properties - data inconsistency is possible because the corresponding conceptual side properties can be independently modified. If i remove this property from the model it passes, but when I query the data I don't have the section field. I know that I can get it by using the navigation field and reading this property from the second table, but to make it work I must include the other table in my query. var res = from name in Context.Table1.Include("Table2")... Why do I need to include the association just for one field?

    Hi all, I have a public key and an encrypted string. I could encrypt with publickey successfully.But when i try to decrypt using the publickey it fails. I mean when i pass the publickey seckeyDecrypt it fails. I have Googled and found out that by default kSecAttrCanDecrypt is false for public keys.So When i import the public key, i have added this particular line , [publicKeyAttr setObject:(id)kCFBooleanTrue forKey:(id)kSecAttrCanDecrypt]; But there is no improvement it still fails. Please somebody help.

  • Best way to get a reasonably random key for MYSQL records

    Hi there, I need to generate a reasonably random unique key for a table. It should be something like a GUID for MYSQL. I've tried UUID, but it looks like only the first few characters are actually random- the rest are the same every time I insert them. Essentially, it is desirable for this key field to be very difficult to guess, even if you already have one known value in the column. What is the best way to do this, and how should I set up the field data type to store the value efficiently? Thank you, Steve

There is already a different submit button on my current page, so I can't simply make the button a submit button.     MSDN says that public static members of System.Windows.Application are thread safe. The exception generated is "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." The process I use is as such: aspnet_User user() = new aspnet_User(); aspnet_user.childTable = new childTable(); .. set some properties user.Insert() -> my custom method ... @ my custom method using (mycontext dc = new context() ) { user.childTable.ID = (Guid)myNewlyCreatedGuid; } The exception occurs on the assignment childTable.set_UserId().

I have seen some applications on Market have free limited/locked version and separate Unlock Key/License Key which unlocks extra functionality. How is this done? Has anyone here done this?     I am trying to build a function that converts an item from an enum to its corresponding string. The enums I use are fairly long, so I didn't want to use a switch-case. I found a method using boost::unordered_map very convenient, but I don't know how to make a default return (when there is no item matching the enum). const boost::unordered_map<enum_type, const std::string> enumToString = boost::assign::map_list_of (data_1, "data_1") (data_2, "data_2"); I tried to create an additional function: std::string convert(enum_type entry) { if (enumToString.find(entry)) // not sure what test to place here, return enumToString.at(entry); //because the find method returns an iter else return "invalid_value"; } I even tried something exceedingly wrong: std::string convert(enum_type entry) { try{ return enumToString.at(entry); } catch(...){ return "invalid_value"; } } Result: evil "Debug" runtime error. Can somebody give me a suggestion on how to either 1) find an easier method to convert enum to a string with the same name as the enum item 2) find a way to use already built boost methods to get a default value from a hash map (best option) 3) find what to place in the test to use a function that returns either the pair of the key-value, or a different string if the key is not found in the map.     Hello, I have a problem when upgrading a django and mysql app with south. I've tried to make a sql-based upgrade with the code generated by the django sqlall command and I have a similar problem. Here is the sql code: CREATE TABLE `programmations_basissupport` ( `id` integer AUTO_INCREMENT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, `value` numeric(6, 0) NOT NULL ) ALTER TABLE `programmations_concert` ADD `basis_support_id` integer AFTER program_status_id; ALTER TABLE `programmations_concert` ADD CONSTRAINT `basis_support_id_refs_id_1e4ed8d7` FOREIGN KEY (`basis_support_id`) REFERENCES `programmations_basissupport` (`id`); An error is raised when adding the FK constraint: ERROR 1005 (HY000): Can't create table 'apidev_mnl.#sql-106e_632b00a' (errno: 150) Does anybody have an idea? Update: DEFAULT values where missing but even if I add the default='' in the django model, the creation of foreign keys fails. Thanks for your help
