  • Need help with fonts in latex: output too dim

    I have a problem where all fonts come out too dim. Is there any thing I can do to get a different look and feel from the pdfs?   • Why do we need to use out keyword while calling a method

    When a method is defined with an out parameter, why do I have to specify the out keyword when calling it. Its already there in the method definition, and the runtime should know that any parameter passed will be an out parameter. It would make sense if the compiler will accept the argument with or without out keyword, with different semantic, but if you MUST add the keyword to make the code compile, whats the use? Shouldn't the compiler handle it automatically? Same for ref

  • Need to find latitude and longitude of postcodes and store into my database

    Hey guys, Ive got a database full of UK Postcodes, now i'd like to be able to store the latitude and longitude of these specific postcodes along with the record with the database. Is there anyway that i can obtain this data free without violating any T&C's? I know i could do this using google maps api for each postcode, but i have way over 20,000 postcodes in this database and to get the lat and lng for each of these postcodes each time is not an option really.     Hey, I am about to purchase a domain name for a bit of money. I do not personally know the person who I am purchasing the domain name from, we have only chatted via email. The proposed process for the transfer is: The owner of the domain lowest the domain name security and emails me the domain password, I request the transfer After the request, I transfer the money via PayPal When the money has been cleared the current domain name owner confirms the transfer via the link that he receives in that email I wait for it to be transferred. The domain is currently registered with DirectNIC - http://www.directnic.com/ Is this the best practice? Seeing I am paying a bit of money for this domain name, I am worried that after the money has been cleared that I won't see the domain name or hear from the current domain name owner again. Is there a 'domain governing body' which I can report to if this is the case? Is the proposed transfer process the best solution? Any advice would be awesome. Thanks! Jack

  • need help with installing shared libraries on linux

    Hi, I am new to linux and trying to get the Ajax Push engine server to work on Ubuntu 9.04. I installed the server from source it fails the check that it does by using its own javascript framework. The problem is that it fails to load the modules and the output that i get in the terminal when i start it is. [Module] Failed to load ../modules/lib/libmod_spidermonkey.so [Invalid library] (libmysac.so.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory) i thought i had to install mysac lib as a shared lib, so after some searching i copied the libmysac.so to /usr/local/lib/ and upon running ldconfig there it created the symlink. But still it gived the same error. Now I copied the libmod_spidermonkey.so in the shared lib dir. But this time ldconfig did not create any symlinks. I am really confused and looking for some pointers . Please help

  • Getting a screenshot of a page using .NET - Need help with code

    I'm writing a specialized crawler and parser for internal use and I require the ability to take a screenshot of a web page in order to check what colours are being used throughout. The program will take in around ten web addresses and will save them as a bitmap image, from there I plan to use LockBits in order to create a list of the five most used colours within the image. To my knowledge it's the easiest way to get the colours used within a web page but if there is an easier way to do it please chime in with your suggestions. Anyway, I was going to use this program until I saw the price tag. I'm also fairly new to C#, having only used it for a few months. Can anyone provide me with a solution to my problem of taking a screenshot of a web page in order to extract the colour scheme? EDIT: Sorry for not getting back to this sooner, but I've been busy with some other things. Anyway, the code seems to work well, but the problem I am having right now is that I am running it within a form, and naturally with Application.Run() being called I cannot run two instances of the same form at once. It recommended Form.showDialog() but that broke everything.   • What are the permissions I need?

    My folder at: /usr/local/www/.ext_env_vars has a bunch of files in it that my app needs to read. The user is 'webapp' So, I changed the perms like so: chmod -R 400 .ext_env_vars chown -R webapp.webapp .ext_env_vars The application can't read these. However, when I chmod 777, they are read by the app. So, it isn't that I have a path problem. Seems to be permissions only. So, what would I have to do to the permissions to make webapp be able to read those files in the .ext_env_vars folder? Thanks Eric

The one I came up with is very slow, it keeps on multiplying by 7 and checks last 6 digits of the result for a match.     I am using the Elmah Logged event in my Global.asax file to transfer users to a feedback form when an unhandled exception occurs. Sometimes I log other handled exceptions. For example: ErrorSignal.FromCurrentContext().Raise(new System.ApplicationException("Program code not found: " + Student.MostRecentApplication.ProgramCode)); // more code that should execute after logging this exception The problem I am having is that the Logged event gets fired for both unhandled and these handled, raised exceptions. Is there a way to determine, in the Logged event handler, whether the exception was raised via ErrorSignal class or was simply unhandled? Are there other Elmah events that I can take advantage of?

    Ok, so i'm new to asp.net mvc and i'm trying to make a web application photo gallery. I've posted once on here about this issue i am having of trying to generate thumbnails on-the-fly on the page instead of the actual full-size images. Basically, the functionality i am looking for is to be able to have thumbnails on the page and then be able to click the images to see the full-size version. I am pulling the images and images info from an XML file. So, i did this so i could display them dynamically and so it would be easier to make changes later. Later, i am going to add functionality to upload new images to specific galleries (when i figure out how to do that as well).   • Need some help understanding this problem about maximizing graph connectivity

    I was wondering if someone could help me understand this problem. I prepared a small diagram because it is much easier to explain it visually. Problem I am trying to solve: 1. Constructing the dependency graph Given the connectivity of the graph and a metric that determines how well a node depends on the other, order the dependencies. For instance, I could put in a few rules saying that node 3 depends on node 4 node 2 depends on node 3 node 3 depends on node 5 But because the final rule is not "valuable" (again based on the same metric), I will not add the rule to my system. 2. Execute the request order Once I built a dependency graph, execute the list in an order that maximizes the final connectivity. I am not sure if this is a really a problem but I somehow have a feeling that there might exist more than one order in which case, it is required to choose the best order. First and foremost, I am wondering if I constructed the problem correctly and if I should be aware of any corner cases. Secondly, is there a closely related algorithm that I can look at? Currently, I am thinking of something like Feedback Arc Set or the Secretary Problem but I am a little confused at the moment. Any suggestions? PS: I am a little confused about the problem myself so please don't flame on me for that. If any clarifications are needed, I will try to update the question.
