• improving data extraction from text file in Java

  I have CSV file with sample data in this form : 220 30 255 0 0 Javascript 200 20 0 255 128 Thinking in java , where the first column is height, second thickness, next three are rgb values for color and last one is title. All need to be treated as separate variables. I have already written my own solution for this, but I'm wondering if there are no better/easier/shorter ways of doing this. Extracted data will then be used to create Book object, throw every Book into array of books and print it with swing.   I know that it isn't possible to set the value of an input type="file" for security reasons... My problem is: I needed to style an input type="file" so what I did was have a button and hide the file input. like: <a href="#" onclick="$('input[name=&quot;photo1&quot;]').click(); return false;" id="photo1-link"></a> <input type="file" name="photo1" class="fileInput jqtranformdone validate[required]" id="photo1" /> These works great in all browsers except IE which gives me an access denied error on submitting through ajax. I'm using the ajaxSubmit jquery plugin (malsup.com/jquery/form/) So after reading for a while I tried to do: var photo1Val = $('#photo1').val(); var clone1 = $('#photo1').clone().val(photo1Val); $('#photo1').remove(); clone1.appendTo('form'); console.log(photo1Val) //prints the right value C:/fakepath/blablabla.jpg $('form').ajaxSubmit(options); The problem is that after this the value of $('#photo1') is empty... When the sender sends this text file of 8 bytes, the receiver end will become a 256bytes txt file and when i open the contents of the txt file, there are my infos plus alot of square boxes. • Windows Server 2008 R2 File Permissions

  I’m having some problems understanding some particular file permissions behaviour. Here are the steps to reproduce: Log into the server using the default Administrator account Create a text file (testfile.txt) in C:\ProgramData containing some arbitrary text Create a new user account and make it a member of the Administrators group Log in using new account and open C:\ProgramData\testfile.txt Edit the text and try to save Upon clicking save I’m presented with the save as dialog, which indicates that i do not have the necessary permissions to edit the file. This seems odd considering that the new user account is a member of Administrators. When I view the permissions of the file I can see the there are three groups listed, System, Administrators and Users. SYSTEM and Administrators have full permissions, however, Users only has the Read & Execute and Read permissions checked. It would appear that when I open the testfile.txt from the new users account, it opens in the context of the Users group, despite being a member of Administrators, is this correct? It would certainly explain the behaviour. The reason that this is an issue for me is that if I deploy an application via 'Run as Administrator', will normal users be able to edit the text files I install to ProgramData. Is this behaviour confined to Windows server or is it the same in Vista and Win7.

  I have a column of product views in a database (e.g. top, bottom, front, back). I'm trying to generate a series of file inputs to allow the user to upload an image for each view. Here is the txt file 8 20 * * *** *** 8 and 20 are the number of rows and columns respectively.   I'm working through a small file upload script (learning experience) and I noticed that when selecting microsoft office related files (.doc or .docx for example) the file objects do not have a type specified: For .doc files I had expected the type to be "application/msword" and along the same train of thought .docx to be "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document". In the cases when the type cannot be determined is the correct course of action to look at the file extension and match that to the "expected" content / mime type? • (Solved) ERROR: Packet source 'wlan0' failed to set channel 2: mac80211_setchannel() in Kismet and Ubuntu 12.10

  I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 in my computer with an Atheros AR5007 wireless card. I want to use Kismet but when I run it it starts displaying the message: ERROR: Packet source 'wlan0' failed to set channel X: mac80211_setchannel() It keeps displaying the same for every channel except channel 1. I have installed the compat-wireless-3.6.6-1 drivers and patched them with the following patch in order to use them with aircrack-ng. I have installed the latest version of Kismet in the git repository and I even tried with the svn but it keeps displaying the same error. I also have set the kismet.conf file with the nsource=wlan0 as it is the name of my wireless interface according to iwconfig : lo no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"XXXX" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Bit Rate=18 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Power Management:off Link Quality=28/70 Signal level=-82 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:282 Missed beacon:0 I haven't found any answer since similar errors are supposed to be fixed with the latest Kismet release but this isn't my case. Now I want to do this as non-root user (as "-u blah -t /path/to/jail" Bind option). • This update does not come from a source that supports changelogs

  When I get an update via update-manager for a software like blender/vlc, I like to see what has been fixed/changed. I added the ppa for blender/vlc (this only applies to the software I added a ppa for) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cheleb/blender-svn sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install blender And vlc like this. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install vlc And when i run update-manager, or update manager pop-ups I see that vlc/blender have updates but, I can't see what has been changed/fixed this is the message I get, the screenshot below is for mupen but it's the same thing. (I updated vlc and blender, didn't wanna wait for the next update) This update does not come from a source that supports changelogs. (by the way I have a dutch Ubuntu, so the above text i Google translated it!) It only shows which version you have and to which version you be upgrading to. So my question is, how do I get the change-log tab of update-manager working. if it's even possible?

• Licensing a JavaScript library

  I am developing a free, open-source (duh) JavaScript library, and wondering how to license it. I was considering the GNU GPL, but I heard that I must distribute the license with the software, and I'm not sure anymore. I would like the library to be available much like jQuery: In a free, downloadable script, preferably in either original or minified form. Am I mistaken about the GNU GPL license terms? jQuery is dual licensed under GNU GPL or MIT licenses. How does the GPL apply to single script files like that? Can I license my library with nothing more than a few sentences in the script file? Is there another license that better suits my needs? What would be nice is a license that allows you to put the URL in the source, for people to read if they want. I don't know that many do, unless I am mistaken. I am generally looking to release the library as free software like the GPL specifies, but don't want to have to force licensees to download the full license unless they wish to read it.

• Installation taking a very long time, hangs at "Configuring bcmwl-kernel-source"

  I am installing Ubuntu 14.04(32-bit) on my laptop (Compaq Presario V2000), and after about 7 hours, it is still in Configuring bcmwl-kernel-source (i386) mode. The messages I read are as follows: ubuntu kernel: [22814.858163] ACPI: \_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LPC0.ACAD: ACPI_NOTIFY_BUS_CHECK event: unsupported with the numbers in the square brackets increasing. I have had Windows XP professional on this laptop, and I am erasing it. I am not sure if I should turn off the laptop, and start all over again. About 4 years ago I installed Ubuntu on this laptop, and that was very fast. The only problem I encountered was my wireless, and could not make it to work, and switched back to Windows. I appreciate any comments regarding this installation taking such a long time. After 40 hours the installation was still in configuring mode with the following messages: ubuntu CRON[29329]: (root) CMD ( cd/ && run-part .. report /etc/cron-hourly) I did the following to check for errors: pressed ctrl-alt-f2. This time the system froze. I had no other choice but to turn off the laptop, and start all over again. The exact model of the laptop is "Compaq Presario V2069CL Notebook PC" with AMD processor.

• OpenSource License Validation [closed]

  I'm basically looking for some kind of FLOSS/OpenSource license validation service. I have special needs for some projects I'd like to open-source. I know there's actually tons of different FLOSS/OpenSource licenses, each one suitable for some specific purpose, and that creating a «new» one is not something recommended, usually. Anyway, even if I'm not an expert in the legal domain, I've got some experience with FLOSS/OpenSource, at a legal level, and it seems there's just no license covering my needs. I actually wrote the license terms I'd like to use, and contacted the FSF, asking them to review that license, as it seems (at least that's written on their website) they can do such review work. No answer. I tried repetitively, but no luck. So I'm currently looking for an alternate legal expertise about that specific license. I don't mind paying such a service, as long as I can be sure the license can be recognised as a FLOSS/OpenSource license. About the license, it's basically a mix of a BSD (third-clause) with a BOOST software license. The difference is about redistribution. Source code redistribution shall retain the copyright novices. The same applies for binary redistribution (like BSD), unless it's distributed as a library (more like BOOST). I hope this question is OK for programmers.stackexchange. I'm usually more active on StackOverflow, but it just seems the right place for such a question. So thank you for your time and enlightened advices. : )
