  • ASP.NET MVC Routes Login/Logout Problem

    Hi Guys, Relatively new to ASP.NET MVC and little confused about how to do routing. My problem basically relates to "logged in" and "logged out routes" and having both as "/". i.e. I have home/index for logged out user which appears as "/" but this has got me confused as to how I can have home/home for logged in user and still have "/". I keep getting 127.0.0.1/home/home I could modify like 127.0.0.1/home - but I want it like "/". My confusion relates to the fact that the "/" [127.0.0.1/] is bound in the routes collection to home/index. Does anyone know how I can modify the routes dictionary (which will be binded ONCE at the start) so that the "/" can be shared for logged and non-logged users ? Thanks?

  • Products combining framework and visual IDE for web development?

    We are looking for some tools to help us with our web development speed. The two main areas that we have pinpointed as parts of the problem are "Framework/Flow Management" and "Visual/Layout Development" Ideally we would find a tool that handles both rather well. However, it seems like there are few tools that handle the middle ground well. Usually it is just a Framework, or and IDE, not both. The best thing we have found so far is Agile Platform. Are we missing any obvious products? Platform at this point is not a huge concern. We can migrate to the best tool.

  • Longish list of allowed referrers

    I want to allow hotlinking only from a list of referrers (paying customers, probably a few hundred). I am on Apache 1.3 and I do not have access to the configuration (only .htaccess). What is the fastest way to implement this? My thoughts so far: PHP with database and readfile() (SSI with) Perl and database the list implemented as symlinks named after the allower referrer, then RewriteCond using HTTP_REFERER everything in .htaccess, lots of RewriteCond's everything in .htaccess, lots of SetEnvIf's Any better (faster) ways to do this?     Hi Guys, I have the following HTML structure <div id="test-1-yay"></div> ... bunch of code ... <div id="test-2-yay"></div> ... bunch of code ... <div id="test-3-yay"></div> I was wondering how I can use jQuery to basically identify each of these "id's" and then apply some jQuery to them ? I'm new to this so little unsure ? Something like if $('#test-1-yay' || '#test-2-yay' || '#test-3-yay') { do stuff to all ID's } But the prob is I want this to continue as it could go to #test-201-yay, #test-202-yay etc ? Thx

  • Have you dealt with space hardening?

    I am very eager to study best practices when it comes to space hardening. For instance, I've read (though I can't find the article any longer) that some core parts of the Mars rovers did not use dynamic memory allocation, in fact it was forbidden. I've also read that old fashioned core memory may be preferable in space. I was looking at some of the projects associated with the Google Lunar Challenge and wondering what it would feel like to get code on the moon, or even just into space. I know that space hardened boards offer some sanity in such a harsh environment, however I'm wondering (as a C programmer) how I would need to adjust my thinking and code if I was writing something that would run in space? I think the next few years might show more growth in private space companies, I'd really like to at least be somewhat knowledgeable regarding best practices. Can anyone recommend some books, offer links to papers on the topic or (gasp) even a simulator that shows you what happens to a program if radiation, cold or heat bombards a board that sustained damage to its insulation? I think the goal is keeping humans inside of a space craft (as far as fixing or swapping stuff) and avoiding missions to fix things. Furthermore, if the board maintains some critical system, early warnings seem paramount.

  • Anyone NOT using a Web Framework? Why?

    I'm well aware of the many reasons to use a web framework. I'm just wondering whether anyone out there is using absolutely no web framework whatsoever to develop their web projects. I would really love to know the reason(s) why you're not using a web framework. For the sake of this discussion, your programming language of choice does not matter. Some possibilities for discussion: You don't hide behind an ORM. You don't rely on any sort of templating system. You think MVC is a really nice TLA but lacks an essential vowel or two. No need for any additional javascript framework tomfoolery. You just write as much code as possible in your native programming language(s). Summary of reasons thus far: Language learning opportunities. Specific performance reasons (write-intensive transaction processing). Seeking more nuanced control over your data and applications (less abstraction). You're building your own framework! Prove to yourself that you can succeed (or fail) just like the big framework-building gurus. Integration issues with unpopular/legacy technologies (exotic databases or protocols come to mind). Big company, lots of code, no talent nor buy-in present to move to a web framework. Some frameworks really lock you in and cannot perpetually grow along with your needs. These few black sheep don't make it easy to jump outside of the framework, write some custom code, and easily jump back in. When you finally escape the asylum, you'll never look back.

So I have a slider with 3 slides - Intro, Question, Submit Now I want to make sure that if the question is answered wrong people cannot slide to Submit.     Hi all, I'm basically trying to create my own tags - and replace them with the right HTML tags. So {B} {/B} would turn into <b> </b> I have only got so far with this, here: http://www.nacremedia.com/text2.htm Use the [B] button to bold stuff the current selection... it creates two bold tags and one closing for some reason. I'm so close! But I just need a bit of direction to get the final bugs out - can anyone please help?? Also, if there is a better way of doing this altogether then I am more than welcome to new ideas.

  • Dealing With Java Default Level Access Specifiers

    I've seen some code in a project recently where some fields in a couple classes have been using the default access modifier without good reason to. It almost looks like a case of "oops, forgot to make these private". Since the classes are used almost exclusively outside of the package they are defined in, the fields are not visible from the calling code, and are treated as private. So the mistake/oversight would not be very noticeable. However, encapsulation is broken. If I wanted to add a new class to the existing package, I could then mess with internal data in objects using fields with default access. So, my questions: Are there any best practices concerning default access specifiers that I should be aware of? Anything that would help prevent this type of accident from re-occurring? Are are any annotations which might say something to the effect of "I really meant for these to be default access"? Using CheckStyle, or any other Eclipse plugins, is there any way to flag instances of default fields, or disallow any not accompanied by, say, a "//default access" comment trailing them?
