• CSS Selector Issue

  Hello html body .home blog logged-in div #wrapper div #page div .cats I have a problem with selecting unordered lists (i.e ul li.class-name class-name-number) at the above dom location in CSS. I am working with a wordpress theme. Basically could I have suggestions for the correct selector to use in order to influence this tag? I can provide a simplified html structure if it will help. I've tried a number of selectors along the lines of: (sometimes)#page (# or .)cats (sometimes)ul li(sometimes with class name) EDIT: I've tried the selectors suggested in the wordpress docs. Thanks!

• Looking for a new PHP website framework

  I built many a website, and my own 'custom' framework is just a general box of scripts cobbled together with loose ideas. I would love to progress to a framework which allows me to pass it onto the client for freedom. Someone suggested using wordpress but I'm not sure how general this can be. A current site I need to build is a fancy kitchen company, price lists, flash gallery (with backend driven pics) and well designed home. How could I bend the the will of wordpress?   I have 3 classes in WordPress (the question itself is unrelated to it): class WP_Widget class Theme_Widget extends WP_Widget class Specific_Widget extends Theme_Widget Essentially Theme_Widget contains some extension functions to the basic WP_Widget. Inside Specific_Widget I call one of Theme_Widget's methods: class Specific_Widget { function __construct() { $this->some_method_that_belongs_to_Theme_Widget(); } } When I instantiate Specific_Widget, PHP throws a fatal error as follows: Fatal error: Call to private method Theme_Widget::some_method_that_belongs_to_Theme_Widget() from context 'Specific_Widget' in ... Do you have an idea as to how I can resolve this? This is the first time I've received this error from PHP. Could it be derive from WordPress itself?

• PODS + WP Theme

  So I managed to setup pods and create my custom tables. Now I want to revamp my theme so that it pulls data from the POD table. Doesn't seem to be working... This is what I did.. I have a Pod called 'project_type' with a name (string) and a code (string) field. Have also added 3 entries via the admin system. I made a copy of the default wordpress plugin and renamed it to myTheme and activated it. Inside index.php of myTheme, I removed all the default code.. and have just the POD specific code as shown below. <?php echo "Hello World"; $p = new Pod('project_type'); echo $p->getTotalRows(); ?> However, when I reload my page, only Hello World shows up? A bit new to Wordpress so kindly advice.

• Is there a script that can dynamically list the contents of a folder?

  I am redesigning my company's intranet site in Wordpress and one of the things they need is an archive of company memos. There are over 300 memos saved in one location and I'm wondering if there is a jQuery script that I can run that will read the contents of a local (network) folder and auto-generate a list of the contents of that folder dynamically (and generate those names as a hyperlink to that file, but if I can list the files, I can get include the hyperlink tag myself). I can always manually create the list of hyperlinks (would take a couple days to do so) but if I can generate it dynamically, whenever a new memo is added, the script will automatically include it making the site much easier to maintain. Is this at all possible? I know that this can probably be done in PHP, but the page I need to do this on is not a php page, it is one of the subpages that is created in wordpress that does not have a php file extension and can't run php code (that I know of) Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

• Is there a way to test my nonce validation fails when it should?

  I'm using nonce validation in a wordpress plugin. When I submit the form from the admin menu it processes correctly, so I believe the nonce validation is working. What I'm not sure is if the validation will fail when it is supposed to and I don't know what the best way to test this is. I tried putting the url for the php file in directly, but all it does it take me to a wordpress not found page. Is there some recommended way to test this? Here is my code. • File upload with tdo-miniforms not working

  I am using the TDO-miniforms plugin for wordpress. I have a form set up that lets the user submit files. The files are successfully uploaded to the tmp-folder, but once the post is created they are not copied into the allocated post folder. The only thing that is created in the folder with a post id is a file called array. It seems like the file holds the binary data of the uploaded files. The “correct” urls are appended to the post content I am running wordpress 2.9.2 on snow leopard using Mamp.

  Once upon a time, I remembered this stuff by heart. Over time, my understanding has diluted and I mean to refresh it. As I recall, any so called single threaded application has two threads: a) the primary thread that has a pointer to the main or DllMain entry points; and b) For applications that have some UI, a UI thread, a.k.a the secondary thread, on which the WndProc runs, i.e. the thread that executes the WndProc that recieves messages that Windows posts to it. In short, the thread that executes the Windows message loop. For UI apps, the primary thread is in a blocking state waiting for messages from Windows. When it recieves them, it queues them up and dispatches them to the message loop (WndProc) and the UI thread gets kick started. As per my understanding, the primary thread, which is in a blocking state, is this: C++ while(getmessage(/* args &msg, etc. */)) { translatemessage(&msg, 0, 0); dispatchmessage(&msg, 0, 0); } C# or VB.NET WinForms apps: Application.Run( new System.Windows.Forms() ); Is this what they call the Dispatcher? My questions are: a) Is my above understanding correct? b) What in the name of hell is the Dispatcher? c) Point me to a resource where I can get a better understanding of threads from a Windows/Win32 perspective and then tie it up with high level languages like C#. Petzold is sparing in his discussion on the subject in his epic work. Although I believe I have it somewhat right, a confirmation will be relieving.

  I'm trying to vectorize a for loop that I have inside of a class method. The for loop has the following form: it iterates through a bunch of points and depending on whether a certain variable (called "self.condition_met" below) is true, calls a pair of functions on the point, and adds the result to a list. Each point here is an element in a vector of lists, i.e. a data structure that looks like array([[1,2,3], [4,5,6], ...]). Here is the problematic function: def myClass: def my_inefficient_method(self): final_vector = [] # Assume 'my_vector' and 'my_other_vector' are defined numpy arrays for point in all_points: if not self.condition_met: a = self.my_func1(point, my_vector) b = self.my_func2(point, my_other_vector) else: a = self.my_func3(point, my_vector) b = self.my_func4(point, my_other_vector) c = a + b final_vector.append(c) # Choose random element from resulting vector 'final_vector' self.condition_met is set before my_inefficient_method is called, so it seems unnecessary to check it each time, but I am not sure how to better write this. • Beginner question - Loop invariants (Specifically Ch.3 of "Accelerated C++")

  Hi - as I said, a complete beginner question here. I'm currently working my way through "Accelerated C++" and just came across this in chapter 3: // invariant: // we have read count grades so far, and // sum is the sum of the first count grades while (cin >> x) { ++count; sum += x; } The authors follow this by explaining that the invariant needs special attention paid to it because when the input is read into the variable x, we will have read count+1 grades and thus the invariant will be untrue. Similarly, when we have incremented the counter, the variable sum will no longer be the sum of the last count grades (in case you hadn't guessed, it's the traditional program for calculating student marks). What I don't understand is why this matters. Surely for just about any other loop, a similar statement would be true? For example, here is the book's first while loop (the output is filled in later): // invariant: we have written r rows so far while (r != rows) { // write a row of output std::cout << std::endl; ++r; } Once we have written the appropriate row of output, surely the invariant is false until we have incremented r, just as in the other example? It's probably something really obvious, anyone could enlighten me as to what makes these two cases different, that'd be great - and thanks in advance for taking the time to answer such a complete novice question. I'm trying to use AddEventListener on a loop from 1 to 30 so that when I change the value of the select, the image src is updated (and the image changes).   I need to change the shipping carrier drop-down and shipping method radio button once via a javascript function, not forever. • glitchy stuttery iphone game loop

  This is a problem I've been trying to solve for a few days now, and I've looked at the various solutions on stackoverflow and nothing has really seemed to work for me. I'm making an iPhone game with OpenGLES graphics and accelerometer input, at this point it's very simple, but the rendering is already pretty bad... it stutters and seems to jump back or forward in time. It doesn't happen a lot, but it happens enough to be a problem. I mean, who wants to play a game where a bullet gets magically transported into the player, and then it's game over? No one. I've tried using NSTimer for the game loop, I've tried using a separate thread (with a frame rate and continuously) I've tried using different frame rates, from 30FPS to 60FPS (It seems to have a max frame rate around 45FPS, but no problems at 30FPS) I've tried using timeIntervalSince1970 and CFGetAbsoluteTime to measure loop time, with no noticeable diffence Anyone have any ideas on what is the best way to get this looking better? One of the posts I've read suggested running the simulation at a fixed frame rate and then just render as fast as possible, does that seem like a good idea?

• Linq to SQL generates StackOverflowException in tight Insert loop

  I'm parsing an XML file and inserting the rows into a table (and related tables) using LinqToSQL. I parse the XML file using LinqToXml into IEnumerable. Then, I create a foreach loop, where I build my LinqToSQL objects and call InsertOnSubmit and SubmitChanges at the end of each loop. Nothing special here. Usually, I make it through around 4,100 records before receiving a StackOverflowException from LinqToSql, right as I call SubmitChanges. It's not always on 4,100... sometimes it's 4102, sometimes, less, etc. I've tried inserting the records that generate the failure individually, but putting them in their own Xml file, but that inserts fine... so it's not the data. I'm running the whole process from an MVC2 app that is uploading the Xml file to the server. I've adjusted my WebRequest timeouts to appropriate values, and again, I'm not getting timeout errors, just StackOverflowExceptions. So is there some pattern that I should follow for times when I have to do many insertions into the database? I never encounter this exception on smaller Xml files, just larger ones.

All I want to do is get a node by its attribute using xpath and loop the children. param1 - correct language param1 & param3 - correct node by its id and the parents id. (Need to use parent id when multiplie id appears.   I'm doing some simple javascript learning at the moment and I'm stuck on how to solve this problem. (the basic form comes from Code Academy). The task is to create 3 rabbit objects, each with a different adjective as an attribute. Then, print describeMyself() for each rabbit. Instead of repeating myself 3 times, I'd like to find a way to solve the problem with a for loop to make it more streamlined/challenging for myself.   I'm using a NetStream in Data Generation Mode to play an embeded FLV using appendBytes. When the stream is finished playing, I'd like to loop the FLV file. I'm not sure how to achieve this. If you just try to call appendBytes again after that, it doesn't work, presumably because I'm appending the full byte array which has the FLV header and stuff? I'm not very familiar with how that all works. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Hello, I have a pretty simple problem. Basically I have an array called $list that is a list of titles. If I do a print_r($list) I get these results: Array ( [0] => Another New Title [1] => Awesome Movies and stuff [2] => Jascha's Title ) Now, I'm running a foreach loop to retrieve their values and format them in an <ul> like so... function get_film_list(){ global $categories; $list = $categories->get_film_list(); if(count($list)==0){ echo 'No films are in this category'; }else{ echo '<ul>'; foreach($list as $title){ echo '<li>' . $title . '<li>'; } echo '</ul>'; } } The problem I'm having is my loop is returning two values per value (is it the key value?) The result of the preceding function looks like this: Another New Title   Awesome Movies and stuff   Jascha's Title   I even tried: foreach($list as $key => $title){ echo '<li>' . $title . '<li>'; } With the same results: Another New Title   Awesome Movies and stuff   Jascha's Title   What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.
