  • Why is the Active Directory security setting for "Write Personal Information" automatically reset?

    In my Small Business Server 2003 environment, I would like to be able to have users manage their own delegate permissions for their Exchange mailboxes. By default, the Outlook delegate feature will not work unless I go to the user object in Active Directory and grant Allow on "Write Personal Information" to SELF. This will work temporarily, but something seems to reset this value shortly afterword. What would cause this automatic reset?

  • Could not find schema information for the element 'castle'.

    Hello! I'm creating a Custom tag in my web.config. I first wrote the following entry under the configSections section. <section name="castle" type="Castle.Windsor.Configuration.AppDomain.CastleSectionHandler, Castle.Windsor" /> But, when I try to create a castle node inside the configuration node as below <castle> <components> </components> </castle> I get the following error message:"*Could not find schema information for the element 'castle*'." "*Could not find schema information for the element 'components'***." Am I missing something? I can't find why. And, if I run the application anyway, I get the following error "Could not find section 'Castle' in the configuration file associated with this domain." Ps.// The sample comes from "Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework"/Steven Sanderson/APress ISBN-13 (pbk): 978-1-4302-1007-8" on page 99. Thank you for the help ============================================================ Since I believe to have done exactly what's said in the book and did not succed, I ask the same question in different terms. However, I've go a big new warning: "The element 'configuration' in namespace 'MyWindsorSchema' has invalid child element 'configSections' in namespace 'MyWindsorSchema'.   • How do you send information from one window to another in the same program?

    In the program I am trying to build, I have a menu button that opens a second window. The user puts information into the second window, presses the "Done" button, and the information is transfered into the main window. The problem I am having is opening the second window. I have both windows build in xaml files in Visual Studio but I can't find a way to show the second window. Using "Window window = new Window" does not fit my needs because 1) I already have the second window built and 2) I have tried this and I cannot figure out how to add children to the window; there is no window.children nor any grid to put the children into. Thank you in advance! Moments after I pressed post, I thought of something I hadnt tried: "WindowAdd add = new WindowAdd; //WindowAdd being the second window add.Show();" This does exactly what I want it to do. The next problem I have is sending the information the TextBoxes into the MainWindow. I am thinking cookies might work but am unsure. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

  • How do I store more information in a marker?

    Hello, I'm using Google Maps v3 and I build in the server side a json collection of location data. So when I receive that, I iterate through that collection and create a marker object for each and every one of them. For each of these markers, I bind them with the click event, so when the user clicks on a marker in the map, it displays an infoWindow with data related to the associated location. I have an array to store all the location got from the server that holds the retrieved json objects and their corresponding marker. The problem is that, even when I have an array that I can reference or iterate through, I need to not only get the marker object when the user clicks on them, but also the location object, that stores more information. I tried to mantain this array of objects and reference it from the calling object without success, because the function is called by the marker and not the location object. So I thought if it's possible to store more information in the google maps marker object like using a general purpose field. Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks!

    I wanted to convert some xml to a magazine like pdf document. A lot like what Latext allows you to do however i was not able to find any new books or online tutorials on the subject. Is it worth investing in using this technology or not? Also, I looked at the Apache XSL-FO project and their last release was in august 2008. p.s. commercial packages are not an option :(

  • Which audio playback technology do I need for this?

    I have trouble choosing the right audio playback technology. There's a ton of technologies to use on the iPhone, it's so confusing. What I need to do is this: start playing short sounds ranging between 0.1 and 2 seconds high quality playback, no crackle (I heard some of the iPhone audio playback technologies do a crackle sound on start or end, which is bad!) ability to start playback of a sound, while there's already another one playing right now (two, three or more sounds at the same time) What would you suggest here, and why?   • Where to create/keep secret files for license information/trials on Windows/Mac OS X/Linux?

    I'm writing a commercial product which uses a simple registration mechanism and allows the user to use the application for a demo period before purchasing. My application must somewhere store the registration information (if entered) and/or the date of the first launch to calculate if the user is still within the demo/trail period. While I'm pretty much finished with the registration mechanism itself, I now have to find a good way to store the registration information on the user's disk. The most obvious idea would be to store the trial period in the preferences file, but since user tend to delete/tinker with those from time to time, it might be a good idea to keep the registration information in a separate, more hidden file. So here's my question: What is the best place/strategy to keep and create such hidden files on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux? Here is what came to my mind so far: Linux/Mac OS X Most Unix-like systems are rather locked down when it comes to places a user can write files to. In most cases this is only the /tmp directory and the user's home directory. I guess the easiest here is probably to create a file with a dot-prefix to make it less visible, then give it a name that won't make it obvious that it's associated with my application. Windows Probably much like Linux/Mac OS X - more recent Windows versions become more restrictive when it comes to file system permissions. Anyway, I'd like to hear your ideas and thoughs. Even better if you have already implemented something similar in the past. Thanks! Update For me the places for such files is more relevant than the discussion of the question if this way for copy protection is good or bad.

Some experts are of the opinion that SOA Governance begins with People and Processes but needs to be empowered with technology to achieve the best results. Here's an interesting piece from David Linthicum on eBizq: In the world of SOA, the concept of SOA governance is getting a lot of attention. However, how SOA governance is defined and implemented really depends on the SOA governance vendor who just left the building within most enterprises. Indeed, confusion is a huge issue when considering SOA governance, and the core issues are more about the fundamentals of people and processes, and not about the technology. SOA governance is a concept used for activities related to exercising control over services in an SOA, including tracking the services, monitoring the service, and controlling changes made to the services, simple put. The trouble comes in when SOA governance vendors attempt to define SOA governance around their technology, all with different approaches to SOA governance. Thus, it's important that those building SOAs within the enterprise take a step back and understand what really need to support the concept of SOA governance. The value of SOA governance is pretty simple. Since services make up the foundation of an SOA, and are at their essence the behavior and information from existing systems externalized, it's critical to make sure that those accessing, creating, and changing services do so using a well controlled and orderly mechanism. Those of you, who already have governance in place, typically around enterprise architecture efforts, will be happy to know that SOA governance does not replace those processes, but becomes a mechanism within the larger enterprise governance concept.
