  • Simple github fetch/merge not pulling in remote branch?

    I have a project I forked on github to my repository. I made changes on the "experiment" branch of the project the committed the project to my fork. If you go to my branch on Github you can see the that the experiment branch was correctly committed. I would like to merge the experiment branch with the original repo (which I have rights to). I issued the following commands: git clone [email protected]:originalrepo/theproject.git git checkout -b experiment origin/experiment cd theproject git remote add experiment [email protected]:chumofchance/theproject.git git fetch experiment git merge experiment "Already up to date" However, when I view the project in explorer, it appears that nothing has changed. Am I screwing something up in regards to fetching the experiment branch (vs the master branch)?

  • setting mailx default smtp relay

    I heave searched Google for this and cannot seem to find a soloution I have bsd-mailx on my server and it sends mail just fine However I wished to have a development environment at home. I need mailx such that php can use its mail function. However the mail is failing to resolve the domain name @gmail.com I am aware that my ISP talk talk may be blocking this is they have a mail server smtp.talktalk.net I assume I would have to add somthing to /etc/mail.rc and use heirloom maEdit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing ilx not bsd-mailx,,but would still need to set default smtp relay Im on ubuntu 12.4 thankyou Edit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing that, I was able to add the smtp relay, but its now saying that the sender domain does not work. I assume this domain has to route back the the same machine the mail originated from. as i dont have a domain for my home address.

  • Best way to convert from IMAP to POP3?

    At work, I connect to a corporate Exchange server via IMAP and Thunderbird 3. Over the course of a year or so, I've created quite a few folders on the server and have a lot of mail stored there. I'm hitting the storage limit of my mail account and want to convert to pulling mail down to my local box (running Linux) via POP3. I know that polling mail will only get mail in INBOX, but I'm wondering if there are solutions out there that could be used to pull mail from the other folders as well, or am I doomed to moving mail into the inbox manually and polling over and over again?

  • Windows7 home 64bit + Outlook 2010, multiple non-concurrent users

    We have one windows computer shared by eight people. I have set up separate login accounts for each user. One account has administrative privileges, the others are standard users. We installed Outlook 2010 with the intention that each user could access their own email separately, without seeing the mail of other users. This has not worked as we intended. When the administrator logs in to each standard user account and starts the outlook mail setup, he is prompted for the administrative password, and then sets up the mail account. When accessing the outlook mail program after setup, each mail account shows as a separate tab in a communal inbox, rather than a separate mail box for each user. How would we accomplish the desired separation of Outlook mail accounts? Thanks for your advice Jim T.

    There is good documentation out there on testing ActionMailer send methods which deliver mail. But I'm unable to figure out how to test a receive method that is used to parse incoming mail.     I have a production website where master is checked out and a development webiste where I develop in feature branches. When a feature is merged into master I do this on the development site: (currently on the new-feature branch) $ git commit -m"new feature finished" $ git push $ git checkout master $ git merge new-feature $ git push And on the production site: (currently on master branch) $git pull This works for me. But sometimes the client calls and needs a small change on the website quickly. I can do this on production on master and push master and this works fine. But when I use a feature branch for the small change I get a gap: (On production on branch master) $ git branch quick-feature $ git checkout quick-feature $ git push origin quick-feature $ edit files... $ git add . $ git commit -m"quick changes" $ git push # until this point the changes are live $ git checkout master #now the changes are not live anymore GAP $ git merge quick-feature # now the changes are live again $ git push I hope I could make clear the intention of this workflow. Can you recommend something better?

    I previous had both Web and Mail on the same server and for each of my vhosts/domains, I could visit example.com/mail or foo.com/mail which would display the Roundcube Webmail across all vhosts. E.g Alias /mail "/usr/share/apache2/roundcub/" Although now I have moved the Mail server onto a completely different server and now have a SSL for the main domain. https://mail.example.com which is now the new location of Roundcube for all vhosts/domains. Question: is it possible to redirect all alias for "/mail" from the Web server to the new URL?

    In our mail server there are multiple virtual email domain hosted. User can use webmail.example.com (this is the first apache virtualhost) to check mail or they can use mail.THEIR-DOMAIN.com. If the put mail.THEIR-DOMAIN.com apache shows the webmail.example.com as it is the first virtualhost and mail.THEIR-DOMAIN.com doesn't exist. Recently we imposed https for webmail.example.com and added this mod_rewrite rule: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} But now users not getting the default webmail page as they were getting before. How can we redirect all request coming to the URL "mail.ANY-DOMAIN.com" to "https://webmail.example.com"?     This is a general question, or perhaps a request for pointers to other open source projects to look at: I'm wondering how people merge an anonymous user's session data into the authenticated user data when a user logs in. For example, someone is browsing around your websites saving various items as favourites. He's not logged in, so they're saved to an anonymous user's data. Then he logs in, and we need to merge all that data into their (possibly existing) user data. Is this done different ways in an ad-hoc fashion for different applications? Or are there some best practices or other projects people can direct me to?

  • How to merge (and not replace) folders when copying, on mac?

    There's a similar question about windows. This is the same, but for mac. If I try to copy or move a folder to somewhere it already exists, it asks to replace it. That would result in deleting the target. Rather I want to merge. There's already a aquataskforce request about this, and it's a discussion going for a lont time if it's even something that should exist on Mac, due to its whole philosophy. Discussions at apple are outdated and didn't help much as well. As usual, there are professional solutions for doing this, such as Changes and Araxis. And there is the rsync or command line alternatives. But I want a free and simple solution, something like how it is done in Windows or Linux. I won't be doing it much anyway. By the way, PathFinder don't have such option as well and FolderMerge doesn't work on Snow Leopard as far as my 1 test went.

    Is there a tool I can use that can merge MP4 files without throwing the audio out of sync? I generated some MP4 files from a DVD using AVIDemux but whatever tool I try to use always ends up throwing the audio out of sync with the video. The further you get into the video the further off-sync the audio is. By themselves the MP4/AAC videos have perfect audio-video sync. later tonight i might try http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ to examine the file before and after to see if anything changed in the media format.

    I have a pix 501 with 5 static ip addresses. My isp just gave me 5 more. I am trying to figure out how to add the new block and then how to nat/open at least one of them to an inside machine.     A group of people wants to publish a file and they all want to digitally sign the file as different recipients of the file will have different chains of trust. For simplicity, it's desired that there is only one detached signature file with all the signatures, so that the recipients don't need to check them one by one: foo.tar.gz foo.tar.gz.sig However, for security reasons, every person needs to perform the signing on their computer, it's not possible to create the combined signature by having multiple private keys on one computer and performing the operation with one command. Is it possible with GPG to somehow merge detached signatures of a file from multiple participants?

  • Exchange 2003 mail non-delivery (NDR), spam activity? events 7002 & 7004

    Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server SP2 Exchange Version 6.5 (Build 7638.2: Service Pack 2) This network has been neglected and has been having email problems for years and was on many blacklists. I was called in after the server eventually crashed... I got the server back up and running, but email problems persist. Outgoing mail delivery is sporadic. Sometimes the mail goes through, sometimes a delayed delivery report is generated after a day or more, and sometimes it seems to go through, but the recipient never receives it. Not sure if spammers are successfully using the server as a relay (see event entries below after turning on maximum SMTP logging)... User PCs infected with viruses and server was blacklisted on many sites (I used mxtoolbox.com) I have cleaned all the PCs and changed all passwords (including administrator) I have requested removal from all of the blacklists - most have removed the listing, some take more time. I have setup rDNS pointer records with the ISP (Comcast) - that was one reason for some of the blacklistings. I have tested that it's not an open relay using telnet as described here: www.amset.info/exchange/smtp-openrelay.asp I followed the advise of a Spamhaus & Microsoft article to enable maximum SMTP logging. http://www.spamhaus.org/faq/answers.lasso?section=isp%20spam%20issues#320 which directed me to Microsoft KB article 895853, specifically, the part 2/3 down titled: "If mail relay occurs from an account on an Exchange computer that is not configured as an open relay" . The Application Event Log is filling with this type of activity (Event ID 7002, 7002 & 3018 errors): Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeTransport Event Category: SMTP Protocol Event ID: 7004 Date: 1/18/2011 Time: 7:33:29 AM User: N/A Computer: SERVER Description: This is an SMTP protocol error log for virtual server ID 1, connection #621.   • Any way to overwrite (not merge) Outlook contacts when importing from a file?

    I'm trying to create a contact list for Outlook 2010 that will contain contact information for every person in my company. I intend on keeping the list current, which means I will be manually adding new employees to the contact list, and removing contacts who no longer work here. The contact list will reside in its own subfolder within the Outlook Contacts folder. I want to periodically export this contact list as a .csv file, and allow the other employees in the company to import it into Outlook on their own computer, thus providing them with a comprehensive and up-to-date company contact list. The problem is, Outlook 2010 only wants to merge contact lists, not overwrite them. This means that any contacts who are no longer with the company will not be removed from the contact lists on employee stations. Is there any way to force Outlook 2010 to overwrite the contact list? Oh how I long for the days of Outlook 2003 and its tidy .pab files.

    Using Windows 7, I'm trying to setup what I've come to call a "Software Raid of Folders", not completely sure it's the right term, but I'm sure anyone who knows the true term will understand what I'm getting at. I have two folders, on two seperate harddrive, I would like to "merge" these folders while keeping them on seperate harddrive so they act as one folder. Example: Music and Videos are to be merged together to a new folder called "Merged" Music runs off of Harddrive 1 Videos runs off of Harddrive 2 Anything new saved inside Merged is saved within Videos that runs off of Harddrive 2 Now you see how I came up with the term "Software Raid", it's like an average RAID 0 setup, but instead I want to do it with just two specific folders on two different drives within Windows. Any help on this is apprecieated!
