• Check something before django server starts

  I am running my api behind a django server and say I have a one time token that is needed by the django application and used through out its existence until the process quits. To check if I can proceed and serve requests (using the django server) I need to validate this token against a database entry. Now, I can have a script that hits the db, then issues the run server command if the token is valid. But if the db used by the django applications change, I will have to change the script also to point to the same db. Is there a way I can pass this token into the runserver command as an additional parameter (along with hostname:port) and validate this before django serves any requests? How can I access this parameter that is sent into ./manage.py runserver. Thanks.

• my output parameters are always null when i use BeginExecuteNonQuery

  I have a stored procedure that returns a varchar(160) as an output parameter of a stored procedure. Everything works fine when i use ExecuteNonQuery, i always get back the expected value. However, once i switch to use BeginExecuteNonQuery, i get a null value for the output. I am using connString + "Asynchronous Processing=true;" in both cases. Sadly the BeginExecuteNonQuery is about 1.5 times faster in my case...but i really need the output parameter. Thanks!

  In an ActionScript 2 project I can create a new MovieClip, right-click on it on the library and select "Component Definition" to add parameters that can be referenced inside the MovieClip. This parameters can be easily changed in the MovieClips's properties. Now, I'm working on an ActionScript 3 project but haven't been able to figure out a way to obtain the values passed in those parameters. I defined a parameter named "textToDisplay" but when I write the following in the Actions for the first frame I get an error: trace(textToDisplay); This is the error: 1120: Access of undefined property textToDisplay. However, how do you specify this specific 'click' registration AND pass in a local variable as the _onClick parameter at the same time? As an aside, why do you even have to specify 'click', when the API states that handler always pertains to a click? Is this additional information not unnecessary?

• SQL Server 2008 - Conditional Query

  Hello, SQL is not one of my strong suits. I have a SQL Server 2008 database. This database has a stored procedure that takes in eight int parameters. For the sake of keeping this question focused, I will use one of these parameters for reference: @isActive int Each of these int parameters will be -1, 0, or 1. -1 means "Unknown" or "Don't Care". Basically, I need to query a table such that if the int parameter is NOT -1, I need to consider it in my WHERE clause. Because there are eight int parameters, an IF-ELSE statement does not seem like a good idea. At the same time, I do not know how else to do this? Is there an elegant way in SQL to add a WHERE conditional if a parameter does NOT equal a value? Thank you!

• Prevent Erroneous Property Assignment

  Porting android applications to iphone applications always gives me the following pattern that I accidentally create: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = property; } Which instead should be: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = prop; } This always causes my program to quietly break because property gets reset to its existing value rather than being set to the new value, 'prop'. I cannot name the parameter 'prop' to 'property' since the compile complains that the parameter masks the instance variables visibility. Is there a good way to avoid this situation? There are no compiler warnings. Is there a way to make xcode prevent this? I cannot see very many situations where you would set a property to the value of its underlying instance variable (maybe to trigger a KVO binding?), but I don't see myself doing that in majority of cases. I understand the above code is synthetic and should be done with @synthesize, but I am just using it as a simplified example to illustrate my point.

  I'm writing a report generator that will present data each being generated from 4 parameters. Time interval Group Measurement value(one of several to choose from) Device All these are orthogonal giving me a 4-D dataset to present. There are some simplifications where one parameter is the same for all and other parameters are merged. Still it appears as there are situations where all values are wanted on the report. In short the report should both be simple to overview and contain details. There will also be an interface where the user setup the range and granularity for each parameter. The most naive solution would be to have a 2D table where each cell contain another table with values of the remaining two dimensions. This is technically feasible but I'm worried that it would become hard to overview. Another approach is to present first two dimensions in a 2D table and the remaining parameters in groups Are there any good method to address this kind of issue?

  When mapping a HasMany or HasManyToMany in fluent nhibernate, you can specify the column name to use for the list as a parameter to the AsList() method as follows: HasMany(c => c.Customers) .AsList(c => c.Column("PositionIndex")); I would prefer to be able to set this using a Fluent NHibernate convention (either a pre-existing one, or a custom one), especially since the default name appears to be "Index" which is a reserved word in MSSQL.   Hello! Sadly, I can't remember where I read it, but... ...in C++ you can derive a class from a template parameter. Im pretty sure it was called Feature Oriented Programming (FOP) and meant to be somehow useful. It was something like: template <class T> class my_class : T { // some very useful stuff goes here ;) } My questions about this: What is the sense of such pattern? Since this it not possible in Java / C#, how this pattern is achieved in these languages? Can it be expected to be implemented in Java / C# one day? (Well, first Java would need to get rid of type erasure) EDIT: I'm really not talking about generics in Java / C# (where you can't derive a class from a generic type parameter)

  If I have a stored procedure that executes another stored procedure several times with different arguments, is it possible to have each of these calls commit independently of the others? In other words, if the first two executions of the nested procedure succeed, but the third one fails, is it possible to preserve the results of the first two executions (and not roll them back)? • NodeJS + Express: res.redirect('back'); with params

  I have register form on every page of my website. During registration some error may occur. After cathing error, I have to return user to previous page, showing some error tips. The problem is I dont know from which page user performs registration. That's why I use res.redirect('back');. However, I cant just redirect user back, I have to show him whats wrong. Thats why I have to pass some parameter. But res.redirect('back', (reg_error:'username')}) can not be used directly 'cause res.redirect() doesn't support parameters. How can I render prevous page with some parameter? Thanks!

  I have a WF which will be hosted on WCF . The service Contract will contain a single operation containing two parameters. Parameter1 will be a string and will contain the name of the workflow to invoke and parameter two will contain the input for the invoked Work Flow. All operations will take the same parameter. All the operations will return the same return value. I have created the service implementation and I would like to depending on the value of parameter1 start executing the appropriate workflow and return the value (There can be number of workflow classes say Operation1, Operation2...which will be the passed in as the value in Parameter1). How can I instantiate different workflow classes and pass parameters and get the return values from them which I should then pass back to the calling Client. (Also Should I be using ReceiveActivities in all of my Launchable WorkFlow Classes ? ) Any code samples or pointers would help

  i did this in msvc 2005. typedef void (*cleanup_t)(); void func(cleanup_t clean) { cleanup_t(); } Why does this compile? and not give me a warning? ok, it gave me a unreferenced formal parameter warning but originally i did this when clean was in a class no there was no unreferenced formal parameter when this code gave me problems. What is cleanup_t(); really doing and what is the point? now for laughs i tried int() and that worked also.

  Hi all, I am currently having a problem since the DB has been changed. I am using Datasets for a c# application, and there is a user management system. For the security issues, our current DB design is like user log into app. DB returns a session ID On use of any other stored procedures, a session ID must be specified. BUT, the DB didn't request session ID before. since I am using the datasets, I used update/insert/delete stored procedures with "TableAdaptor Configuration Wizard". Bind Commands to Existing Stored Procedures (choose stored procedures to call and specify any reuiqred parameters) Now, it seems like I have to specify session ID for Insert/Update/Delete stored procedures. How do I specify session ID parameter here? It seems like I have to pick one return parameter variable from a select statement. Thanks,

I am not able to understand how to place this big where condition (which contains a sub-query as well) in place of the "String selection" i.e. 3rd parameter of the method. Shall i simple write the entire where part(including the sub-query) as a string in the 3rd parameter or else there is some other better way for doing the same?   I created a silverlight 3 application with a navigation frame and 3 views: search, add and edit. I used the app file to pass parameters among the 3 pages, eg: ((App)Application.Current).SNIPSELECTED = currentSnip; Then in the receiving page: currentSnip = ((App)Application.Current).SNIPSELECTED; currentSnip is a SnipItem object: public class SnipItem { public string itemID {get;set;} public string category {get;set;} public string itemDescription {get;set;} public string codeSnip {get;set;} } This worked fine until I decided to make this entire application into a user control and put that inside a second silverlight application with its own navigation frame and app file. The app files are getting confused. The first app file with all my parameter passing is not being read. I know how to pass a simple parameter between views in the first application without the app file (in a query string), but how about these custom types like my currentSnip above?
