    Hello, We have a series of products with built in web servers each of which has a login page, a customer wants to create a web portal in which they log into once, from there they can simply click on any of the devices (external websites) and it will automatically login to that site and redirect them to the page after the login screen. The portal is using ASP.NET MVC, the external devices are Windows CE based units running embedded web servers. Can find a lot on scraping, but not much on redirection after the event.     are there any alternatives to Xpath ? need to locate and extract specific element's texts for web scraping project. xpath seem pretty limited against layout changes on web pages. slight shuffle, and xpath no longer works. also different browsers have different Xpaths as i discovered. Firefox automatically adds tbody after table, while IE doesn't and so on.

I discovered the following resource on maxmind: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/api/php/timezone/ I suspect that I could use this with another api that provides the state that an area code belongs to. I'm looking for a simple REST API that provides this info - or a robust scraping routine that achieve the same results. Thanks in advance!

The only solution i can see at the minute is querying IMDB and scraping the page. The problem i have is that i have a list of film titles and i want to retrieve stuff like the plot, director, cast, when released, get dvd cover art, etc..

  • Navigate HTML Source while performing WatiN tests

    I am performing actions on the page during WatiN tests. What is the neatest method for asserting certain elements are where they should be by evaluating the HTML source? I am scraping the source but looking for a clean way to navigate the tags pulled back. UPDATE: Right now I am thinking about grabbing certain elements within HTML source using regular expressions and then analysing that to see if other elements exist within. Other thoughts appreciated.

    I am working on a program that automates tasks in a browser like entering text, clicking, etc and right now everything is working fine when using the Web Browser tool in Visual Studio 2010. What I'd like to know is how should I approach converting all of this so I can use send requests instead of the browser? I heard its a lot more efficient and a lot better if you are going to be using multi threading but I have so much code that already works now and am not sure how I should do this without scraping quite a bit of it.
