  • date_create_from_format equivalent for PHP 5.2 (or lower)

    Hi all, I'm working with PHP 5.3 on my local machine and needed to parse a UK date format (dd/mm/yyyy). I found that strtotime didn't work with that date format, so I used date_create_from_format instead - which works great. Now, my problem is that my staging server is running PHP 5.2, and date_create_from_format doesn't work on that version. (It's a shared server, and wouldn't have a clue how to upgrade it to PHP 5.3) So is there a similar function to date_create_from_format that I can use? Bespoke or PHP native? Many thanks, - Lee

    I have a page called send.email.php which sends an email - pretty simple stuff - I pass an order id, it creates job request and sends it out. This works fine when used in the context I developed it (Use javascript to make an AJAX call to the URL and pass the order_id as a query parameter) I am now trying to reuse the exact same page in another application however I am calling it using php file_get_contents($base_url.'admin/send.email.php?order_id='.$order_id). When I call the page this way, the $_SESSION array is empty isempty() = 1. Is this because I am initiating a new session using file_get_contents and the values I stored in the $_SESSION on login are not available to me within there? -- Thanks for the feedback. It makes sense that the new call doesn't have access to the existing session... New problem though: I now get: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!     Hi guys, I have another question. XMLhttpRequests haunt me. Everything is now in the database but I need this data to update my page on firt page load or reload. The XHR is triggered in JavaScript file which triggers PHP-Script. PHP-Script access MySQL database. But how do I get the fetched records back into my JavaScript for page update. I can not figure it out.     I followed these steps: download x-debug*.dll to D:\Program Files\webserver\php\ext\php_xdebug.dll modify php.ini and insert following zend_extension_ts="D:\Program Files\webserver\php\ext\php_xdebug.dll" xdebug.remote_enable=1 xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_mode=req xdebug.idekey=default xdebug.remote_autostart=1 restart apache and XDebug is successfully installed. DBGP is installed successfully and configured with 127.0.0.1 but XDebugger is still not connecting/working with notepad++.

    In this question I asked how to POST to a php file form a vb.net app: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2615335/post-to-webpage-in-vb-net-win-forms-desktop-not-asp-net So now I've logged in the user user by posting their username and password to the php file, the php file then does security/checks they exist/etc and if both username and password are correct is stores the user ID in a session variable. Now if the vb.net app tries to download data off a page which needs the user to logged in, it checks this by doing: if (!isset($_SESSION['uid'])) { header("Location: index.php"); } However after having logged correctly in the app the session variable is not set. How does session work with a vb.net app like this? When the user logs in successfully should I download the user id and keep it in the vb.net app and then post it to each page that requires authentication?

  • PHP Form POST to external URL with Redirect to another URL

    So, what I am trying to accomplish is have a self-posting PHP form, POST to an external page (using CURL) which in turn redirects to another page. Currently, what is happening is that once I click "Submit" on the form (in contact.php) it will POST to itself (as it is a self-posting form). The script then prepares the POST using CURL and performs the post. The external page does its processing and then, the external page is supposed to redirect back to another page, in a referring domain. However, what happens instead, is that it seems like the contact.php page loads the HTML from the page the external page redirected to, and then, the contact.php's HTML loads after that, ON THE SAME PAGE. The effect, is what looks like two separate pages rendered as one page. Naturally, I just want to perform the POST and have the browser render the page it is supposed to redirect to as specified by the external page.     Hi guys, I just posted a similar question, but deleted it because I realized I was working with an old file...doh! I am just trying to get my XAMPP setup working for me. I have a live site that navigates to a login page at http://www.monkeycalendar.com/arvindkt/login.php That login page includes a root.php file that is found at http://www.monkeycalendar.com/arvindkt/root.php Live site works great. My localhost is set up so my sites are a folder in localhost: IE: http://www.example.com = localhost/example.com I'm having problems figuring out how to make my root folder point to the right directory.   • Facebook connect JavaScript with PHP

    I'm using the JavaScript method to sync/login (with the popup) with Facebook Connect on my site, it seems to work. However, after I get logged in, I want to continue in backend, with the PHP library. I see the cookies are set by the JavaScript lib, but I don't know how to use them with the PHP api. I used $fb = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $uid = $fb->get_loggedin_user(); but not user data is getting passed. How can I get the user data in PHP after I logged in in frontend? As far as I'm concerned, I would have gone PHP all the way, but I didn't manage to make the auth work, meaning that in never redirected me back to my site :). Thanks!

  • Success verification of mail() function PHP

    Hi Is it possible to check if the php can get some kind of a ping/flag back from exchange mail server to say "yes, email has been sent off to the intended recipient"? According to the PHP manual, the return of mail() boolean could mean; "It is important to note that just because the mail was accepted for delivery, it does NOT mean the mail will actually reach the intended destination." Does this mean, PHP can return success but actually there could be a problem on the mail server that php wouldn't know about it? and in this case no email has been sent and the user is none the wiser?   • Apache/PHP: error_log per Virtual Host?

    On one Linux Server running Apache and PHP 5, we got multiple Virtual Hosts with separate logfiles and everything. The only thing we cannot seem to separate between virtual hosts is the php error_log. Overriding this setting in the <Location> of the httpd.conf does not seem to do anything. Did I overlook something? Is there a way to have separate php error_logs for each Virtual Host?

    Hello, I need to convert some code done by someone else, to work in my mvc model It is using some functions like EOD that I don't understand. Does that still work in a class? Primarely, my question focusus on the json output. I hope this was somewhat clear enough? The php manual warns that in some cases you don't get an array output, instead you get an object. So, with the EOD syntax, I am not really sure.
