• XSLT ... I can'f find a (working) find minimum value in XML and set variable

  I've search for hours and not found an example that allows for the very first position to be the lowest. I'm getting 'False' instead of the value returned .... EDIT: Oddly enough if I run a 2nd instance as MAX_Landed with ascending it returns a value just fine. If I switch the order in the XSLT the first instance will return 'False' and the 2nd will work. Hope I'm making sense ..... For example, everybody knows that a comes before b when performing an ascending sort on a string in MySQL. But what about other characters? Does the dollar-sign $ come before asterisk * ? Does a space come before an exclamation-mark? etc... What dictates the sort order? Does it use underlying ascii / UTF-8 values? Is it different for different technologies? • Rails view error "invalid byte sequence in US-ASCII" error after upgrading Ruby to 1.9.2

  Running Rails 2.3.9 and just upgraded to Ruby 1.9.2p0. I have been putting: # encoding: utf-8 in a bunch of my .rb files where ever "£" character is used, and this seems to be working. But i just got my first view error: invalid byte sequence in US-ASCI for this line of code: <%= number_to_currency(product.price, :unit => "£", :precision => 0) %> I don't think its a coincidence that the "£" character is involved again. Any ideas on how to solve this please? Thanks

  Hi guys, I've been trying today all day to figure this out and I have no idea. What I want: Get the title and meta description of any kind of website. Save this info to utf table in mysql. What the problem is? Different sites have different charsets which results in that some have chinese, some contain umlauts (german), then we have russian and so on.. I've tried preg_match which works for some while not for others, i've tried DOMdocument which is the same as preg_match. Is there any class available that will do this? Hope someone can help, thanks.

• URL decoding Japanese characters etc. in Java

  I have a servlet that receives some POST data. Because this data is x-www-form-urlencoded, a string such as ???? would be encoded to &#12469;&#12508;&#12486;&#12531;. How would I unencode this string back to the correct characters? I have tried using URLDecoder.decode("encoded string", "UTF-8"); but it doesn't make a difference. The reason I would like to unencode them, is because, before I display this data on a webpage, I escape & to &amp; and at the moment, it is escaping the &s in the encoded string so the characters are not showing up properly.

• Jquery mobile function calls before Ajax Request end

When My Home page shows, I call the LoadUser functions, which on success, sets the globalUser variable with the returned json, and after it loads I call the alert function but it says globalUser is undefined. I have tried many other work arounds, but I always get the undefined mesage. I tried to remove "http://" from destination. Same effect. What am I missing ?

  I have a gem installed in my home directory on a laptop (eg not THE server). I have installed ruby 1.9.1 and also some other gems, notably right_aws - which allows access to s3, etc with ruby. All works, except there is a bug when I do a query on SimpleDB, and the returned list of items includes an item with any two byte utf-8 character in its itemName(). So I look through the sources of the right_aws gem installed on my machine, and I can see some places where I would like to test a fix. If I edit the file, save changes, (needing a password), then restart the server (script/server), it ignores my changes. I am quite new at ruby - do you have to 'compile' or other similar move to get the source code changes made take effect? I can see the edited file is changed by viewing it in terminal, etc.
