  • Cast from Void* to TYPE* using C++ style cast: static_cast or reinterpret_cast

    So if your converting from Void* to Type* or from Type* to Void* should you use: void func(void *p) { Params *params = static_cast<Params*>(p); } or void func(void *p) { Params *params = reinterpret_cast<Params*>(p); } To me static_cast seems the more correct but I've seen both used for the same purpose. Also, does the direction of the conversion matter. i.e. should I still use static_cast for: _beginthread(func,0,static_cast<void*>(params) I have read the other questions on C++ style casting but I'm still not sure what the correct way is for this scenario (I think it is static_cast)

  • javascript textbox call event when value changes

    I have a textbox, and whenever the value of the box changes, I want to check and see if 20 digits have been entered. I thought that I would use the onChange event, but this seems to be interpreted as the onBlur event on IE. So then I thought I would use onKeyDown, but the problem comes in if the user wants to paste a value into the field, then the function never gets called. There are no other form boxes so I can't rely on onBlur or expect that they will change focus ever. How do I do this? I just want to evaluate the value of the textbox everytime the value of the textbox changes. <input type="text" onKeyDown="myfunction()">

    I'm a SQL noob, and I need a little bit of help understanding the big picture of if it is possible, and if so how to go about filtering a result set based on the return value of a function which is passed one of the fields of the record. Let's say I have a table called "Numbers" with just one field: "Value". How could I correctly specify the following "pseudo-sql"?: SELECT Value FROM numbers WHERE IsPrime(Value)=true Can I accomplish such a thing, and if so, where/how do I put/store "IsPrime"?   • Hiding a value in an Android application

    Hi, I need to hide a value in a mobile (Android OS) application. As far as I can see, encrypting the value is of no use as the key to the encryption mechanism must be available to the program and is thus available to an attacker reverse-engineering the code. So, it seems that the only "solution" is to hide the secret value in the application as well as possible, obviously not ideal. Any comments? Am I missing something? If not, what's the best way to hide the value? Thanks for your ideas! Ewan

ToList().ForEach(x => Console.WriteLine(x)); and explained you can have (i) anonymous array (ii) extension method (iii)lambda and closure all in a single line.I got spot offer. But..... The interviewer asked me how will you convert an anonymous type into know type :( I am 100% sure ,we can not do that.The interviewer replied there is 200% chance to do that if you have a small work around.I was clueless. Is there an easier, more elegant, or more generic way to do this?

    Hey all- I have a MySQL table that defines values for a specific customer type. | CustomerType | Key Field 1 | Key Field 2 | Value | Each customer type has 10 values associated with it (based on the other two key fields). I am creating a new customer type (TypeB) that is exactly the same as another customer type (TypeA). I want to insert "TypeB" as the CustomerType but then just copy the values from TypeA's rows for the other three fields. Is there an SQL insert statement to make this happen? Somthing like: insert into customers(customer_type, key1, key2, value) values "TypeB" union select key1, key2, value from customers where customer_type = "TypeA" Thanks- Jonathan

    I am trying to send the clicked value of a dropdown list to my servlet to run a SQL query using the value received. When I select a value from the JSP that construct the dropdown list and from which the function showProject is handled the same thing is happned. It returns always null. So the parameter(idprj) is not passed anyway. How can I handle with this. I need to send the selected value to the servlet to run my SQL query.

I can do the following: create table test_type_table ( test_type_field test_type ); This gives me a table with one column, test_type_field. Is there an easy and automated way to instead create a table such that it has 2 columns, f1 and f2?. So that it's the equivilent to writing: create table test_type_table ( f1 varchar2(10), f2 number(5) );

    how to get the time value in a stored procedure form datepicker value i.e i have a datetime picker value stored into my table as '2010-04-06 09:00:00.000' '2010-04-07 14:30:00.000' i have got the date sepeartely using convert(varchar,Date,3) as Date.. i have got the time seperately using convert(time,Time) but it show the values as 9:00 , 14:30 i need it to show as 9.00 am and 2.30pm instead of 14.30.     I have a PL/SQL procedure which sets some variable in user session, like the following:- Dbms_Session.Set_Context( NAMESPACE =>'MY_CTX', ATTRIBUTE => 'FLAG_NAME', Value => 'some value'); Just after this (in the same procedure), I try to read the value of this flag, using:- SYS_CONTEXT('MY_CTX', 'FLAG_NAME'); The above returns nothing. How did the DB lose this value? The weirder part is that if I invoke this proc directly from Oracle SQL Developer then it works. It doesn't work when I invoke this proc from my web application from callable statement. --EDIT-- Added an example as to how we are invoking the proc from our Java code.   • Django DecimalField returns "None" instead of empty value

    Is there a way to force django to display nothing instead of "None" for a Decimal Field that's been left blank? In my template, I show a list of all the values for a particular field. Each value is hyperlinked to a page that displays the results of a query filtered on that value. But because there are some entries with null value, my list includes actual DecimalField entries and "None" for all those that are empty. When a user clicks on None, django throws a validation error because you cannot query a DecimalField using a string. I could write if statements checking all instances of decimal fields for Nones and skipping them, but that is far from an elegant solution. Any advice? This is one part of the code, though there are other templates that derive the None value in slightly different manners: {% for item in choices %} <a href={% url app_views.field_choice item %}>{{ item }}</a><br> {% endfor %}

I edited those values in to help remove confusion. Now I want to iterate the list and print out a single value of each item list = self.TrackOlv.GetObjects() for item in list: print item.atrTitle This fails with the error AttributeError: type object 'Track' has no attribute 'atrTitle' What really confuses me is if I highlight a single item in the Object List View display and use the following code, it will correctly print out the single value for the highlighted item list = self.TrackOlv.GetSelectedObject() print list.atrTitle

    Hi all, I have code that statically registers (type, handler_function) pairs at module load time, resulting in a dict like this: HANDLERS = { str: HandleStr, int: HandleInt, ParentClass: HandleCustomParent, ChildClass: HandleCustomChild } def HandleObject(obj): for data_type in sorted(HANDLERS.keys(), ???): if isinstance(obj, data_type): HANDLERS[data_type](obj) Where ChildClass inherits from ParentClass. The problem is that, since its a dict, the order isn't defined - but how do I introspect type objects to figure out a sort key? The resulting order should be child classes follow by super classes (most specific types first). E.g. str comes before basestring, and ChildClass comes before ParentClass. If types are unrelated, it doesn't matter where they go relative to each other.

What would be the use of creating a generic class that can take as type argument itself or descendants of itself. Here is example : abstract class A<E extends A> { abstract void foo(E x); } the first thing that came to mind would be a list that takes a list as parameter. Using this code feels strange, how do you declare a variable of type A ? Recursive declaration !? Does this even work ? If so did any of you see that in code ? How was it used ?

I need to fetch a value (say some text) on the basis of 3 parameters. So, what will be the key in this case?
