    Well, MIX10 is over. It was a great time to meet a lot of people and see friends from afar.   • Gnome-shell video freeze

    So i have a 14.04 Ubuntu Gnome Live USB on my 16GB USB 3.0. It runs fine except sometimes it the screen will freeze, but I know stuff is still happening cause I can hear media playing. I did a little digging and i'm still not sure why, can someone help?   • I love video games and know I want to work in the sector but hate programming

    I just hate how I'll put in 8-10 hours in and get little to nothing back. The return results for your efforts seem to be pathetically small the majority of the time and I don't find that rewarding enough for me to put in the time and effort to learn programming and make myself better. I've heard game design is fun and I think I'd love that but apparently you can only get into that really if you can program, is that true? I feel a bit lost because I'm doing a degree in Games Technology and am worried that I'm sending myself into a job I'll hate.

  • NPOT texture and video memory usage

    I read in this QA that NPOT will take memory as much as next POT sized texture. It means it doesn't give any benefit than POT texture with proper management. (maybe even worse because NPOT should be slower!) Is this true? Does NPOT texture take and waste same memory like POT texture? I am considering NPOT texture for post-processing, so if it doesn't give memory space benefit, using of NPOT texture is meaningless to me. Maybe answer can be different for each platforms. I am targeting mobile devices. Such as iPhone or Androids. Does NPOT texture takes same amount of memory on mobile GPUs?

My requirement is below and try to develop a Macro or VB logic for excel • I want to control this workbook from Summary sheet. o Generate Fault Summary – ? I have set logic but if doesn’t give warning if sheet name is exists , so need to add this logic . ? When we press the Fault Report Summary command button then it copy the master sheet with cell “A6” Name and will hide the Master sheet. Again when you select the another Month name then it will generate the sheet for that month name. o Generate Toll System Uptime ? When I select the sheet name and “Week” then Press the “Enter “Command button then it should get the result from that sheet number . Each sheet number has Month detail in B2 Cell. ? To calculate the Uptime formula for Week wise is • Week-01 = (1680-SUMIFS(L5:L23,B5:B23,"="&B2,B5:B23,"<="&(B2+6)))/1680 • Week-02 =(1680-SUMIFS(L5:L23,B5:B23,"="&(B2+7),B5:B23,"<="&(B2+13)))/1680 • Week-03 =(1680-SUMIFS(L5:L23,B5:B23,"="&(B2+14),B5:B23,"<="&(B2+20)))/1680 • Week-04 =(1680-SUMIFS(L5:L23,B5:B23,"="&(B2+21),B5:B23,"<="&(B2+27)))/1680 • Month =(1680-SUMIFS(L5:L23,B5:B23,"="&(B2),B5:B23,"<="&(DATE(YEAR(B2),1+MONTH(B2),1)-1)))/1680 ? If any fault which has OPEN status in all sheets(Jan-13,Feb-13,Mar-13….etc) then it should be come as well as in Pending Sheet which ascending date order. ? When it’s status is changed then it should be moved in that month sheet or nearby fault created date. It status is close then it should not be available in pending sheet as it’s status is Closed. ? Each fault has Reported date and we monitor all fault according reported date. ? When we press the Update Fault Report Summary command button then it should update as above logic. ? Some time we export the Pending fault report , so date calendar should be present in Start and End date to Choose the date. When we press the Export command line then it should export the Pending fault report and able to save in Excel,PDF.

  • Ubuntu 12.04 keeps rebooting after changing video settings

    In a pinch I had to install Ubuntu 12.04 on an HP Pavilion g6. I was not fond of the 1024 x 7678 resolution so after investigating and finding I had the intel chipset I set the below in the grub file: GRUB_GFXMODE=1366x768x32 GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1366x768x32 This did not work. The system just keeps rebooting as nauseum. I powered down, inserted my Ubuntu Install USB, powered up, edited the Grub file on the disk (made sure it was the disk and not the Grub for the USB stick). Powered off and tried booting up again. Same thing. So: As a noob am I missing something in the boot to allow me into a recovery mode? (I cannot seem to get to the Grub menu) If not is there a way I can recover from this? UPDATE: Holding down the shift key after BIOS gets "GRUB Loading..." and then a reboot

    One of my clients is a small school district in Texas. Like any school, they often have problems with network'd peripherals such as printers, et al. It would be nice to be able to simply "listen" to what the printer and PC are saying to each other (or not saying more importantly)... The problem is that I can't find old-style "hubs" anymore, and even if I could, it's not a long-term solution. All of the devices that I have found to replicate the purpose of a simple hub are either $100+ or are difficult to throw into a networking tool kit (aka my backpack)... Now that hubs are dead, what's the new low-cost standard for simple packet capture in the networking world?

  • How to best configure IIS7 logging to capture "HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR" header

    We have IIS7 servers sitting behind an nginx reverse proxy. The reverse proxy is sending the standard "HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR" header with the visitor IP address, but IIS7 logging is only logging the IP address of the nginx server (which makes sense, but it's not what I want). How can I tell IIS7 to instead log the "HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR" header (or additionally log it)? (note: I'm a linux admin, not a windows one, so explicit instructions & links are sincerely appreciated)
