• Remove filter attribute after jQuery UI dialog is finished opening

  Using jQuery UI 1.8rc3 combined with the new jquery.effects.fade.js code, I've been able to finally apply fade-in and fade-out effects to opening the UI Dialog widgets. Hooray! $dialog.dialog({ show: { effect: "fade", options: {}, speed: 150 } } This works great - unfortunately, there's the known IE7 & 8 bug where the ClearType gets turned off by the application of an empty filter: style attribute after the fade effect is finished. I have the code to remove the filter attribute, I just can't find a good way to hook it into the event chain. The dialog's "open" and "focus" events are too soon. I need something like a "dialog opening animation is finished" callback. How can I hook up a callback to the end of the opening effect for a dialog?

• how to set flex combobox cursor position

  I have a combobox implementation as follows - Based on user input (min 2 chars) in the editable combobox, the data provider is refreshed and drop-down opened, showing different data sets as user input varies. Problem is that after drop-down opens, the cursor moves back to the beginning. So for instance, the user types in "ab", and wants to type in "c" to form the search string "abc". Due to the cursor re-setting its position to 0, the search string instead ends up as "cab". Here's what I tried already (doesn't work) : textInput.mx_internal::getTextField().setSelection(index, index); where index = length of user input. This selects text from index to index (which effectively un-selects text) and is supposed to place the cursor at the end. Any thoughts?

• A rails migration that specifies the distance between two months..?

  I would like to make two drop downs. a start time, and an end time. Specifically, I only need months. I would like to, for example, choose January, and then March, and then have the database read that it is the these two months plus February. Is there any out of the box migration that could work?   Hi, I have a Customers table and would like to assign a Salesperson to each customer in a round-robin fashion. Customers --CustomerID --FName --SalespersonID Salesperson --SalespersonID --FName So, if I have 15 customers and 5 salespeople, I would like the end result to look something like this: CustomerID -- FName -- SalespersonID 1 -- A -- 1 2 -- B -- 2 3 -- C -- 3 4 -- D -- 4 5 -- E -- 5 6 -- F -- 1 7 -- G -- 2 8 -- H -- 3 9 -- I -- 4 10 -- J -- 5 11 -- K -- 1 12 -- L -- 2 13 -- M -- 3 14 -- N -- 4 15 -- 0 -- 5 etc... I've been playing around with this for a bit and am trying to write some SQL to update my Customers table with the appropriate SalespersonID, but am having some trouble getting it to work. • Allow user to download file and filename on client defaults to no extension

  I want the user to be able to download a file from a page and have the filename extension in the Save As dialog box to be defaulted to nothing. This is the code I'm using: Response.ContentType = "text/plain" Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=FILE") Response.WriteFile("C:\Temp\FILE") Response.End() FILE is the actual file. It is saved on the server without any extension. Currently, the "Save As Type" drop down list in the dialog defaults to "Text Document". How can I make it so that it defaults to "All Files"?

  Lets say I was to develop a small forum script, what types of topics pages would you find most helpful? I'd like to get an idea of what should be added. Viewing popular phpBB forums, they offer "Unanswered Posts", "Active Topics" and "Unread Topics". Obviously I'm already including a page to view your own topics and posts. My other question was, is it a big deal that I'm not tracking whether or not you've read a topic? I already provide the page showing all topics you've participated in... just not ones that you've "viewed". Would this be something forum users would only end up complaining about? I don't like the options available to track topics that are read/not read, that's the only reason I am not considering adding this feature at this stage. Many thanks everyone for any help.

• iphone - mutableArray cannot store nil objects

  I have a mutable array that is retained and storing several objects. At some point, one object may become nil. When this happens the app will crash, because arrays cannot have nil objects. Imagine something like [object1, object2, object3, nil]; then, object2 = nil [object1, nil, object3, nil]; that is not possible because nil is the end of array marker. So, how can I solve that? thanks for any help.

I wrote in C# an application that calculates something (lets call it cl.exe) I created a .bat file that starts the cl.exe. I want to call that .bat file from my javascript so I WShell.Run(**.bat). 2 question: The javascript program will not continue till the cl.exe will end ? (It is synchronized ?) • Quick question regarding CSS sprites and memory usage

  Well, it's more to do with images and memory in general. If I use the same image multiple times on a page, will each image be consolidated in memory? Or will each image use a seperate amount of memory? I'm concerned about this because I'm building a skinning system for a Windows Desktop Gadget, and I'm looking at spriting the images in the default skin so that I can keep the file system looking clean. At the same time I want to try and keep the memory footprint to a minimum. If I end up with a single file containing 100 images and re-use that image 100 times across the gadget I don't want to have performance issues. Cheers.

• In SQL Server Business Intelligence, why would I create a report model from an OLAP cube?

  In Business Intelligence Developer Studio, I'm wondering why one would want to create a report model from an OLAP cube. As far as I understand it, OLAP cubes and report models are both business-oriented views of underlying structures (usually relational databases) that may not mean much to a business user. The cube is a multidimensional view in terms of dimensions and measures, and the report model is... well I'm not sure entirely -- is it a more business-oriented, but still essentially relational view? Anyway, in Report Builder I can connect directly to both an OLAP cube or a report model. So I don't see why, if I have an OLAP cube which already provides a business-oriented view of the data suitable for end-users, why I would then convert that to a report model and use that in Report Builder instead. I think I'm obviously missing some fundamental difference between report models and cubes -- any help appreciated!

• PECL install fails

  Hey! I have browsed every Google result, read all the forum posts about this error, but I cannot solve it. When using PECL install for anything, I always end up getting this error: checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs. Everything else succeeds up to that point them bam! I'm using CentOS 4.3, PEAR is the latest stable version, GCC is a stable and recent version. Everything is working as it should, but the C compiler always seems to error. I've tried to make tmp have the right privilages for the operation by temporarily enabling it using: mount -o remount,exec,suid /tmp But that doesn't work. I've literally tried everything that has been suggested by to no avail. Any ideas?

• Programmatically modifying an embedded resource before registering/referencing it on the page

  Hi All, Firstly, "Modifying" may be the wrong term, I see a few people have posted online just asking whether they can actually modify an embedded resource. What I am wanting to to, is use a resource in my assembly as a kind of template which I would do a find and replace on before registering it on the page - is this possible? For example; say I have a few lines of jQuery as an embedded resource in my assembly and in this script I am referencing a CSS class name that can be set by the front-end programmer. Since I do not know what the CSS class will be until implementation, is there a way of going through the embedded resource and replacing, say, $myclass$ with ThisClassName. Any help would be appreciated, if it's not possible then at least tell me so I can stop chasing my tail. Cheers, James

  I am planning to build a web application using ASP MVC3 that runs on Azure with a SQL Azure back end. I would like to use the Microsoft stack and have no plans to ever change to another stack. I am looking into the use of WCF and WF but that would be in the future. I looked at the traditional and Code First approach to using Entity Framework but I can't see if there is any advantage in using one or the other approach. Sure they each have advantages but for me I don't care if my classes do inherit from EF classes. All I want is to find the most efficient solution. Can anyone out there give me some advice as to which approach might be the best. thanks very much Richard

• AJAX call in for loop won't return values to correct array positions

  I need to get a range of pages using AJAX and put them into an array, where their given place in the array is equal to the i of a for loop (it's a caching-like function for blog pages, and the range of the for loop is entirely variable). I'm doing something akin to the following: var bongo = new Array(); for (i = 0; i < 10; i++) { jQuery.ajax({ type: "GET", url: http://localhost, data: queryString, success: function(request) { bongo[i] = request } }) } The problem is, that unless I add async: false to the .ajax options (which would make it... SJAX?), which causes the requests to basically pause the browser, going against what I'm trying to do, the i in the success callback will always end up being 11, whereas I of course want it to pour the returned data into each slot of the array from 0 to 10. I've tried replacing the line with this: bongo[i] = jQuery.ajax({ type: "GET", url: http://localhost, data: queryString }).responseText But that made no difference.

• Problem sending mail with simple .net application. Server refusal error.

  I have a very simple .net application for testing SMTP on .net. But i am receiving this weird error. "System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Failure sending mail. --- System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server --- System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" SMTP server is remote and doesn't need any kind of authentication so i don't need credentials. But i can send mails from this computer with outlook using same smtp server and same smtp settings without any problem. Any ideas? It will be appreciated so much. • Qt QNetworkAccessManager does not emit signals

The manger-get() call seems work (it generates http traffic) but does not call the slot replyFinished() at the request end. • How do I make a shortcut for a Perl program under Windows using a DOS batch file?

  I'm trying to "hide" some of my perl program from the end user to make things easier on them. I'm doing what I can to keep them out of the command prompt. The program itself has a GUI designed in Perl/Tk, so they don't have to worry about the command prompt. Could I write out a quick batch file that goes along the lines of: START perl 'C:\[some path here]\myscript.pl' with START to start a program, the perl interpretor as my program, and the path/name of my perl script as the parameter? Would I have to specify where to find perl or would Windows just know because perl is in the computer's PATH variable? Thanks for the help!

• CCNet web dashboard not showing anything when MSBuild fails

  I have a simple project in ccnet using svn & msbuild only. There is a 30 second trigger for svn and the msbuild file compiles a web application then copies it to a numbered build folder. When an error occurs in the msbuild task I get a failed build. When I view a failed build in the web dashboard I can see the 'Modifications since last build' section in the dashboard, but nothing else. I have to click on the build log and read through all of the xml in the error log to see what the error was. Why won't the dashboard show the errors from the build log? I haven't changed anything in the dashboard.config since installing ccnet.   Essentially I have three fields and I am creating a new one which is the three combined making a mailable address; problem being some fields contain null values and adding myString to a null just produces a null in sql.   I am dealing with Mongoid, carrierwave and gridFS to store my uploads. For example, I have a model Article, containing a file upload(a picture). class Article include Mongoid::Document field :title, :type => String field :content, :type => String mount_uploader :asset, AssetUploader end But I would like to only store the file once, in the case where I'll upload many times the same file for differents articles. I saw GridFS has a MD5 checksum. What would be the best way to prevent duplication of identicals files ? Thanks

• FLEX: Make LineChart DATATIP constrain to vertical axis.

  When making a line chart, Lets say its for business sales for different depts and horizontally is days and vertically is dollars. When you hover over a line it tells a dataTip tells you the sales for that dept. on that day. I want it to show all the depts at the same time, so say you hover over day 3, I want the dataTips for all depts on day 3 to display so you can compare the values for all the sales on the same day. I set the mouseSensitivity for the dataTips to display all the lines at once but I end up getting day 2 for one dept and day 3 for another which is not wanted.
