• Issue with 'Hello Android' tutorial

  I am brand new to Eclipse and Android, but somewhat familiar with Java. That having been said, I tried to follow the 'Hello Android' tutorial from the developer site using the latest Eclipse (Galieo) and the 2.1 Android SDK, I am on a Macintosh running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). I have a default virtual device (though my target is actually for phones like my own HTC Incredible which has the snapdragon processor and of course all the latest accoutrement in smart phones. Everything seemed to go okay until I went to RUN>RUN and then selected 'Android Application'. My computer spins it's wheels for a while and then I see two errors. The actual code is line by line from the tutorial and I have never been able to get to the XML part yet. I am not sure what is wrong with my environment setup or if it is just an incompatibility with Snow Leopard?   I have a schedule (Voyages) table like this: ID Arrival Departure OrderIndex 1 01/01/1753 02/10/2009 0 1 02/11/2009 02/15/2009 1 1 02/16/2009 02/19/2009 2 1 02/21/2009 01/01/1753 3 2 01/01/1753 03/01/2009 0 2 03/04/2009 03/07/2009 1 2 03/09/2009 01/01/1753 2 By design i save '01/01/1753' as a default value if the user doesn't fill a the field on the capture screen and for the very first Arrival and the very last Departure which are never provided. Im using Nhibernate and Criteria, and im wondering whats the best way to query this data if i want to know the First departure and last arrival for each voyage in the table. My first thought was a groupby (ID) and then do some Min and Max with the arrival and departure but the `'01/01/1753' VALUE is messing aronud. ... .SetProjection(Projections.ProjectionList() .Add(Projections.GroupProperty("ID"), "ID") .Add(Projections.Min("DepartureDate"), "DepartureDate") .Add(Projections.Max("ArrivalDate"), "ArrivalDate") ) ... So is there a way to skip this value in the Min function comparison (without losing the whole row of data), or there is a better way to do this, maybe utilizing the OrderIndex that always indicate the correct order of the elements, maybe ordering ASC taking the 1st and then Order DESC and taking the 1 st again, but im not quite sure how to do that with criteria syntax.

• problems doing the Django tutorial on Dreamhost using Passengers

  I have looked and I could not find this question before, and it surprises me. I am reasonably proficient in Python, and I used Dreamhost for a number of years. Now I would like to learn Django. They are finally supporting it using Passenger. Which I do not know what is. Following the instructions on Dreamhost I installed Django. Then I started following the tutorial 01. This went well, except that I could not start the server (this in the tutorial) since the code was live on dreamhost. At the time this did not seem to make any difference. Then when I went on the second part of the tutorial I had to access the admin site. And it worked well going to myurl/admin/ , as it should. But here the problems started. According to the tutorial (here) I have to add a file in the poll application and then restart the server. But I never started the server in the first place, my code is running live on the web... but when I add a file the website the admin acts as if it does not see it. Probably dreamhost has started its own server, and I don't know how to restart it. But I assume this is going to be a common problem when you run django on dreamhost. Every time you add a file you will have to tell the server to consider it. So what should I do to let the server know about it? Thanks, Pietro

I am using VS2010. I have created the dataset, for the data i need from this xml. Is there any way to map this XML directly on dataset? Any other idea? I also have to save some other more complex XML files to database. I have tried xsd.exe to create xsd schema for this XML.

  How do I pretty print time duration in perl? '%H hours, %M minutes, %S seconds, %N nanoseconds', normalize => 1, ); print $df->format_duration($duration); which results in 0 years, 00 months, 0 days, 01 hours, 35 minutes, 46 seconds, 764000000 nanoseconds This is no good for me for the following reasons: I don't want to see "0 years" (space waste) &c and I don't want to remove "%Y years" from the pattern (what if I do need years next time?) I know in advance that my precision is only milliseconds, I don't want to see the 6 zeros in the nanoseconds part. I care about prettiness/compactness/human readability much more than about precision/machine readability. I.e., I want to see something like "1.2 years" or "3.22 months" or "7.88 days" or "5.7 hours" or "75.5 minutes" (or "1.26 hours, whatever looks better to you) or "24.7 seconds" or "133.7 milliseconds" &c (similar to how R prints difftime)

• MSBuild script fails but produces no errors

  I have a MSBuild script that I am executing through TeamCity. One of the tasks that is runs is from Xheo DeploxLX CodeVeil which obfuscates some DLLs. The task I am using is called VeilProject. I have run the CodeVeil Project through the interface manually and it works correctly, so I think I can safely assume that the actual obfuscate process is ok. This task used to take around 40 minutes and the rest of the MSBuild file executed perfectly and finished without errors. For some reason this task is now taking 1hr 20 minutes or so to execute. Once the VeilProject task is finished the output from the task says it completely successfully, however the MSBuild script fails at this point. I have a task directly after the VeilProject task and it does not get outputted. Using diagnostic output from MSBUild I can see the following: My questions are: Would it be possible that the MSBuild script has timed out? Once the task has completed it is after a certain timeout period so it just fails? Why would the build fail with no errors and no warnings? [05:39:06]: [Target "Obfuscate"] Finished. • How would i go about showing the closest paragraph element to a unique link with jQuery?

  The title is a bit rusty, sorry about that. Now let me explain what i'm trying to do. I thought of the idea of giving both the toggle link and the paragraph the same class, and then somehow make it get the paragraph with the same class as the toggle link clicked, and show it? But i'm not entirely sure how to do that either, and tbh, it doesn't sound like the greatest idea, but maybe that's the only way? I don't know... Is there some way to just simply get the nearest paragraph (below the link) with the id "meddel" and fade it in? That sounds a bit easier... I hope you can at least give me a few hints.   I am using jQuery cycle in several galleries with #next #prev navigation and a image counter output. Now I am trying to connect all these galleries together. If the user reaches the final slide of gallery A (galleryA.html), the #next anchor should point to gallery B (galleryB.html) / the #prev anchor should point to gallery C (galleryC.html). Now I want to use masm/link to assemble an executable from the generated .asm listing. In my webapplication I will display as follows: bottle.doc sheet.xls presentation.ppt stackof.jpg Button I will keep checkbox for each one to select. Suppose a user selected the four files and clicked the button,which I kept under. Then I instantiate clasees for each type of file to convert into pdf, which I wrote already and converted them into pdf and return them. My problem is the clases is able to read the data form URL and convert them into pdf. • Strange FileNotFoundException occuring on production server in console application

  Hi I have an application that works fine in my dev enviroment, but throws weird errors in the production enviroment, I checked the version of .net on my dev machine aswell as the production server , they both run 3.5.30729.01. • WPF - List items not visible in Blend when 'DisplayMemberPath' is used

  Hi, We're currently working out how to implement MVVM and I've got to the point where I've got the MVVM Light Toolkit set up in blend and can specify dummy data to be supplied if running in Blend. All good. I've created a dummy list of data. The list contains 6 instances of a very simple class called DummyItem which has Age and Name properties. Here's the main code from my 'DummyList' class: public class DummyItem{ public string Name; public int Age; public DummyItem(string name, int age){ this.Name = name; this.Age = age; } } public class DummyList : ArrayList { public DummyList() { this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy1", 00)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy2", 01)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy3", 02)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy4", 03)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy5", 04)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy6", 05)); } } Here's the operative part of my XAML. The DataContext line does work and points to the correct ViewModel. <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <ListBox x:Name="ListViewBox" DataContext="{Binding Source={StaticResource Locator}, Path=ListViewModel}" ItemsSource="{Binding TheList}" DisplayMemberPath="Name"> </ListBox> </Grid> The problem is, when I add 'DisplayMemberPath', as I have above, then I can no longer see the list items in Blend. If I remove 'DisplayMemberPath', then I see a list of objects (DummyItem) with their full path. When the app is run, everything works perfectly. It's just that in Blend itself I cannot see the list items when I use 'DisplayMemberPath'. Anyone know why I can't see the items inside Blend itself when I use DisplayMemberPath? Thanks! AT

Just want to know, is there anyother way to do that? When my app started it is showing 1 thread in Activity Monitor, but when i started the processStart() in background thread its creating two new thread,which makes the total 3 thread until or unless loop get finished.After completing the loop i can see 2 threads. So, my understanding is that, 2 thread created when i called performSelectorInBackground, but what about the thrid thread, from where it got created? What if thread counts get increases on every call of selector.How to control that or my implementation is bad for such kind of requirements? Thanks

• Strange resource not found issue?

Opera is good enough, though it prints the main document instead of just the object. Thanks to the alert('contentWindow is null') call in the JS function, I know that the object I'm getting in IE has no contentWindow property. I have tried changing the object tag to an iframe tag. This changes the JS behaviour, but causes other issues such as the height attribute being ignored and the content not displaying. Sticking with an object tag, how can I get this Object's window in IE7?

• SQL Server 2005 Import from Excel

  I'd like to know what my best option would be to import data from an excel file on a weekly or monthly basis. At first, I thought I would use SSIS, but after much struggle with seemingly simple tasks, I'm starting to rethink my plan. Would it be better/easier to just write the SQL by hand or use the services of an SSIS package? The basic process will be as follows: A separate process will download an .xls file to a local fileshare. The xls file will have a filename like: 'myfilename MON YY'. I will need to read the month and year from the the filename, reformat it to a sql date and then query a DimDate table to find the corresponding date key. For each row (after the first 2 header rows), insert the data with the date key, unless the row is a total row, then ignore. Here are some of the issues I've been encountering with SSIS: I can parse the date string from a flat file datasource, but can't seem to do it with an excel data source. Also, once parsed, i cannot seem to convert the string to a date in order to perform the lookup for the date key. For example, I want to do something like this: select DateKey from DimDate where ActualDate = convert(datetime, '01-' + 'JAN-10', 120) but i don't think it is possible to use the 'convert' or 'datetime' keywords in an expression builder. I have been also unable to find where I can edit the SQL to ignore the first 2 rows of data. I'm very skeptical of using SSIS because it seems like a Kludgy way of doing something that can probably be accomplished more efficiently writing the SQL yourself, but I may be forced to use SSIS.   I have a WordPress blog running on lighttpd-1.4.19, listening on at www00:81. On the same host, apache-2.2.11 listens on port 80, which creates a proxy connection from http://blog.mydomain.org:80 to http://blog.mydomain.org:81. The Apache virtualhost looks as follows: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName blog.mydomain.org ProxyRequests Off <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass / http://blog.mydomain.org:81/ ProxyPassReverse / http://blog.mydomain.org:81/ </VirtualHost> Using debug.log-request-handling = "enable" I get the following log entry when I browse http://blog.mydomain.org:80 (notice the Host headers): 2010-05-10 08:47:14: (request.c.294) fd: 6 request-len: 853 GET / HTTP/1.1 Host: blog.mydomain.org:81 [...] 2010-05-10 08:47:15: (request.c.294) fd: 8 request-len: 754 GET /wp-content/uploads/2010/01/image.gif?w=280 HTTP/1.1 Host: www00:81 My problem: as far as I know, the PHP environment variable $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] is set to that Host header variable. Unfortunately, WordPress uses that variable in their system to create URLs to pictures on the blog. These URLs won't be accessible behind a firewall of course. How can I force the host header to be blog.mydomain.org instead of blog.mydomain.org:81, respectively www00:81? I already added set server.name = "blog.mydomain.org" to my lighttpd.conf, but this didn't work. Any suggestions are appreciated, thank you.

• Trying to write up a C daemon, but don't know enough C to continue

  Okay, so I want this daemon to run in the background with little to no interaction. I plan to have it work with Apache, lighttpd, etc to send the session & request information to allow C to generate a website from an object DB, saving will have to be an option so, you can start the daemon with an existing DB but will not save to it unless you login to the admin area and enable, and restart the daemon. Summary of the daemon: Load a database from file. Have a function to restart the daemon. Allow Apache, lighttpd, etc to get necessary data about the request and session. A varible to allow the database to be saved to the file, otherwise it will only be stored in ram. If it is set to save back to the file, then only have neccessary data in ram. Use sql-light for the database file. Build a webpage from some template files. $(myVar) for getting variables.   Hi, I am using a UIAlertView with three buttons: "Dismiss", "Submit Score" and @"View Leaderboard". The UIAlertView also contains a UITextField called username. At the moment the UITextField "username" is covering one of the buttons in the UIAlertView. I just wanted to know how I could stop the UITextField from covering one of the buttons, i.e move the buttons down. • Ribbon not showing up with dynamically generated ribbon XML from the database

However, when I open the changed document, I dont see my ribbon added. I see following in the CustomUI/CustomUI.xml inside the word:- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui"> <ribbon xmlns=""> <tabs> ..... I am not sure how the "xmlns" attribute is getting added to the ribbon element. When I remove that attribute, the ribbon gets showed. Could anybody throw any idea on where am I going wrong?

• Javascript array of dates - not iterating properly (jquery ui datepicker)

  Hi I have some code which builds an array of date ranges. I then call a function, passing it a date, and compare that date with dates in the array. I'm doing it this way because the dates are stored in a cms, and I'm manipulating the JqueryUI datepicker. Unfortunately my code only checks the first date range in the array - and I can't figure out why! I think it's probably something simple (/stupid!) - if anyone can shed some light on it I'd be extremely grateful!   Given: Start Year Start Month & Start Day End Month & End Day What SQL statement results in TRUE if a date lands between the Start and End days? 1st example: Start Date = 11-22 End Date = 01-17 Start Year = 2009 Specific Date = 2010-01-14 TRUE 2nd example: Start Date = 11-22 End Date = 11-16 Start Year = 2009 Specific Date = 2010-11-20 FALSE 3rd example: Start Date = 02-25 End Date = 03-19 Start Year = 2004 Specific Date = 2004-02-29 TRUE I was thinking of using the MySQL functions datediff and sign plus a CASE condition to determine whether the year wraps, but it seems rather expensive. Am looking for a simple, efficient calculation. Update 1 The problem is the end date cannot simply use the year. The year must be increased if the end month/day combination happens before the start date. The start date is easy: Start Date = date( concat_ws( '-', year, Start Month, Start Day ) ) The end date is not so simple. Update 2 Here is what I was thinking about for obtaining the end year: end_year = case sign( diff( date( concat_ws( year, start_month, start_day ) ), date( concat_ws( year, end_month, end_day ) ) ) ) when -1 then Start_Year + 1 else Start_Year end case Then wrap that expression (once syntactically correct) inside of another date, followed by BETWEEN statement. Update 3 To clear up some confusion: there is no end year. The end year must be calculated. Thank you!
