  • Declaring an array of linked list in C#

    - by xarzu
    I got the compile error message "Array size cannot be specified in a variable declaration (try initializing with a 'new' expression)" when I tried to declare an array of linked lists. public LinkedList[2] ExistingXMLList; Also, if I wanted to create a small array of strings, isn't this the way: string [2] inputdata;

  • Attribute to mark code

    - by happyclicker
In c# there are attributes such as [obsolete] that create compiler warnings that will be shown in visual studio. Is there an attribute that I can use to mark a method or a class with a comment that should be shown as a warning in visual studio when I compile? Something like: [TBD(Msg="Please change me after 2010 07 20")] public void Foo(){ } or is there a possibility that I can derive from System.Attribute and make my own attribute, configuring visual studio so that it behaves as I described.

  • Why does Samba/CIFS suck so badly. [closed]

    - by sean
Seriously, machines refusing to save data because files THEY HAVE OPEN are locked BY THEMSELVES. Getting 200+ connections simultaneously takes it out despite a plethora of available disk and network bandwidth. You can't turn off CUPS you have to COMPILE WITHOUT IT. DFS support is completely broken and pretty much useless in the current state (as in DFS for load balancing, not replication). We should just move to NFS and find a DFS like namespace aggregator.

  • "is not abstact and does not override abstract method."

    - by Chris Bolton
So I'm pretty new to android development and have been trying to piece together some code bits. Here's what I have so far: package com.teslaprime.prirt; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; public class TaskList extends Activity { List<Task> model = new ArrayList<Task>(); ArrayAdapter<Task> adapter = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Button add = (Button) findViewById(R.id.add); add.setOnClickListener(onAdd); ListView list = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.tasks); adapter = new ArrayAdapter<Task>(this,android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1,model); list.setAdapter(adapter); list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(View v, int position, long id) { adapter.remove(position); } });} private View.OnClickListener onAdd = new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Task task = new Task(); EditText name = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.taskEntry); task.name = name.getText().toString(); adapter.add(task); } }; } and here are the errors I'm getting: compile: [javac] /opt/android-sdk/tools/ant/main_rules.xml:384: warning: 'includeantruntime' was not set, defaulting to build.sysclasspath=last; set to false for repeatable builds [javac] Compiling 2 source files to /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/bin/classes [javac] /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/src/com/teslaprime/prirt/TaskList.java:30: <anonymous com.teslaprime.prirt.TaskList$1> is not abstract and does not override abstract method onItemClick(android.widget.AdapterView<?>,android.view.View,int,long) in android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener [javac] list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { [javac] ^ [javac] /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/src/com/teslaprime/prirt/TaskList.java:32: remove(com.teslaprime.prirt.Task) in android.widget.ArrayAdapter<com.teslaprime.prirt.Task> cannot be applied to (int) [javac] adapter.remove(position); [javac] ^ [javac] 2 errors BUILD FAILED /opt/android-sdk/tools/ant/main_rules.xml:384: Compile failed; see the compiler error output for details. Cheers !

  • Why aren't static const floats allowed?

    - by Jon Cage
I have a class which is essentially just holds a bunch of constant definitions used through my application. For some reason though, longs compile but floats do not: class MY_CONSTS { public : static const long LONG_CONST = 1; // Compiles static const float FLOAT_CONST = 0.001f; // C2864 }; Gives the following error: 1>c:\projects\myproject\Constant_definitions.h(71) : error C2864: 'MY_CONSTS::FLOAT_CONST' : only static const integral data members can be initialized within a class Am I missing something?

  • Generics: How to derive from one of two classes?

    - by Yaron Naveh
I have the following c# classes: class A : Object { foo() {} } class B : Object { foo() {} } I want to write a generic method that applies to both: void bar<T>(T t) { t.foo(); } this does not compile complaining the foo() is not a member of T. I can add a constraint for T to derive from one of the classes: void bar<T>(T t) where T : A but how can I have it for both?

  • How to dynamically load aspx code from a database?

    - by labilbe
I have content like this stored in a database <p>This a sample text. <%= Html.ActionLink("test", "myaction", "mycontroller") %></p> The content is part of my data repository, that is the reason I want to keep it inside the database. I would like to know how it is possible to render it and execute it at compile time. I am using it on an asp.net mvc project. Thank you.

  • Qt Plugins Not Working

I've created a custom widget plugin. The plugin integrates fine with Qt Creator but when I compile the program, I'm getting this error: "test.h: No such file or directory" Where test.h is the name of the custom widget. • My abstract class implements an interface but doesn't implement some of its methods. How do I make i

    - by Stefan Monov
    interface ICanvasTool { void Motion(Point newLocation); void Tick(); } abstract class CanvasTool_BaseDraw : ICanvasTool { protected abstract void PaintAt(Point location); public override void Motion(Point newLocation) { // implementation } } class CanvasTool_Spray : CanvasTool_BaseDraw { protected abstract void PaintAt(Point location) { // implementation } public override void Tick() { // implementation } } This doesn't compile. I could add an abstract method "Tick_Implementation" to CanvasTool_BaseDraw, then implement ICanvasTool.Tick in CanvasTool_BaseDraw with a one-liner that just calls Tick_Implementation. Is this the recommended workaround?

  • Is there a simple alternative to Readline?

    - by Justin Poliey
On a project I'm working on, I'm trying to make it accept user commands and provide history with the up arrow. I'm aiming to keep this project free of dependencies, and I don't want to have to require people to also install the readline development files just to compile my project. Does anyone know of a simple drop-in replacement for GNU Readline that provides only simple functionality?

  • Inconsistent syntax c# ?

    - by maxp
private string[] GetRoles() { string[] foo = {"Test"}; return foo; } The above compiles, but... private string[] GetRoles() { return {"Test"}; } Does not. Replacing it with: return new string[] { "Test" }; Will obviously compile though. Is this inconsistancy or am i being stupid, or am i just wrong :S.

  • Dotnet website - class in one file can't access class in a different file

    - by bmutch
I've inherited a web site I'm editing in dotnet and it won't compile because the class in one file (say class1.vb) refers to a class in another file (say class2) (like Dim m_c As class2) , but the compiler says "Type Class2 is not defined". when I look in the object browswer the classes are listed separately (i.e. not all grouped under the same namespace) and appear as: Public Class Class1 Inherits System.Object Member of C:...\mywebsite\ Help!, thanks.

  • Visual Studio 2010, using VB.NET. Intellisense does not recognize new property until I recompile

    - by Velika
I have an ASP.NET VB.NET web project that references a VB.NET class library. I add a new property to a class in the class library, then, from the web app, I expect to be able to use it immediately w/o errors and with full intellisense. It used to work in 2008. When I compile the class library, it becomes available but not until. Was this nice feature taken away, perhaps in the interest of speed?

  • Difference between jruby AOT classes with --java flag and without

    - by Johnathan Leppert
When I compile a ruby file to a java class using jrubyc, I get different output when compiling with just jrubyc and with jrubyc --java (to generate the java file) and just javac. Why? Example: First Method: $ jrubyc --java myscript.rb $ javac -cp .:./jruby-complete.jar myscript.java Second Method: $ jrubyc myscript.rb I'd expect the generated classes to be exactly the same, but they're not. What's jrubyc doing under the covers? Thanks!

  • Why do we need to use out keyword while calling a method

    - by Midhat
When a method is defined with an out parameter, why do I have to specify the out keyword when calling it. Its already there in the method definition, and the runtime should know that any parameter passed will be an out parameter. It would make sense if the compiler will accept the argument with or without out keyword, with different semantic, but if you MUST add the keyword to make the code compile, whats the use? Shouldn't the compiler handle it automatically? Same for ref
