  The Document class have a getDoctype method but doesn't have a setDoctype. The documentation says: The DOM Level 2 does not support editing the Document Type Declaration. docType cannot be altered in any way, including through the use of methods inherited from the Node interface, such as insertNode or removeNode. and in my project I need to generate xml files with my specified doctypes. I've tryied to create my own DefaultNode, but it throws "DOMException: Method not supported" for the setters. Any idea?

• How do I force fetching of tags if I have the --no-tags option set

  Whenever I run git fetch it fetches all the tags from origin. In a project with lots of tags, this can get quite bothersome. So I ran git config remote.origin.tagopt --no-tags so fetching will no-longer fetch tags. However, there are some times when I do want to fetch tags, or a single tag. Does anyone know how to do this? (besides removing that configuration, and running git fetch --no-tags every time) Thanks!

• Force full garbage collection when memory occupation goes beyond a certain threshold

  I have a server application that, in rare occasions, can allocate large chunks of memory. It's not a memory leak, as these chunks can be claimed back by the garbage collector by executing a full garbage collection. Normal garbage collection frees amounts of memory that are too small: it is not adequate in this context. The garbage collector executes these full GCs when it deems appropriate, namely when the memory footprint of the application nears the allotted maximum specified with -Xmx. That would be ok, if it wasn't for the fact that these problematic memory allocations come in bursts, and can cause OutOfMemoryErrors due to the fact that the jvm is not able to perform a GC quickly enough to free the required memory. If I manually call System.gc() beforehand, I can prevent this situation. Anyway, I'd prefer not having to monitor my jvm's memory allocation myself (or insert memory management into my application's logic); it would be nice if there was a way to run the virtual machine with a memory threshold, over which full GCs would be executed automatically, in order to release very early the memory I'm going to need. Long story short: I need a way (a command line option?) to configure the jvm in order to release early a good amount of memory (i.e. perform a full GC) when memory occupation reaches a certain threshold, I don't care if this slows my application down every once in a while. All I've found till now are ways to modify the size of the generations, but that's not what I need (at least not directly). I'd appreciate your suggestions, Silvio P.S. I'm working on a way to avoid large allocations, but it could require a long time and meanwhile my app needs a little stability

• Using graphical ActiveX (COM) controls in WinForms project

  I have a collection (set) of ActiveX controls. I recieved them from our vendor company. I created a wrappers for them using tlbimp.exe and aximp.exe. All non-graphical controls work good. All graphical controls don't react on some methods. When I call their methods I get: TargetInvocativeException (InnerException is null). or Attempt to read/write protected memory. Our vendor company assure that their graphical activex controls work good. But they don't provide support service, so I have to find solution of my problem alone. And some more, All graphical activex controls don't react on mouseclick or any other mouse manipulations. But documentation says: it must change the color on mouse click. Maybe, someone have same symptoms and can help me ! I googled over that problem many pages but they don't help me. Maybe it's some Visual Studio settings or compiler options ? I use VS 2005.

I'm using a MySql database, now how can I use the SchemaExport function in hibernate to create the tables? My application can't create the table automatically, though i have set <prop key="hbm2ddl.auto">create</prop>. • UITableView, force to snap to whole UITableViewCell at top of table

  I have a need to make a UITableView only display whole cells at the top of the cell, so when the table is moved or scrolled it should animate to make a whole cell visible at the top of the table if it has happened to stop with a cell partially off the top. This can be easily done using visibleCells and scrollToRowAtIndexPath methods of UITableView, BUT the cell should not always scroll down to move the partial cell into view - if the cell at top is more than 50% gone it should go completely with the next cell (i.e. index 1 in the array returned by visibleCells) moving to the top of the table. I've tried a few things to make this happen but I don't think I am understanding the way frame and bounds work between a UITableView and its UITableViewCells. Any help?

  We have a tool that generates some code (.cs) files that are used to build the project. The tool is run during the pre-build step, but the files are updated in the solution only after the build, which means the build needs to be performed twice to clear the errors after a change to the input. Example: Modify Tool Input File Run Build Tool Runs and changes source file Build Fails Run Build Tool Runs and changes source file (but it doesn's actually change, because the input remains the same) Build Succeeds Any ideas how we can do away with the double build, and still let our tool be run from VS? • Force Oracle error on fetch

  I am trying to debug a strange behavior in my application. In order to do so, I need to reproduce a scenario where an SQL SELECT query will throw an error, but only while actually fetching from the cursor, not while executing the query itself. Can this be done? Any error will do, but ORA-01722: invalid number seems like the obvious one to try. I created a table with the follwing: KEYCOL INTEGER PRIMARY KEY OTHERCOL VARCHAR2(100) I then created a few hundred rows with unique values for the primary key and the value l for the othercol. I then ran a SELECT * query, picked a row somewhere in the middle, and updated it to the string abcd. I ran the query SELECT KEYCOL, TO_NUMBER(OTHERCOL) FROM SOMETABLE hoping to get some rows of good data an then an error later. But I keep getting ORA-01722: invalid number on the execute step itself. I have gotten this behavior programmatically using ADO (with server-side cursor) and JDBC, as well as from PL/SQL Developer. How can I get the result I'm looking for? thanks Edit - meant to add, when using ADO, I am only calling Command.Execute. I am not creating or opening a Recordset.

How can the output be explicitly restricted to a maximum size, hence protecting the source images?

• emacs: force ido-mode to forget history...

  Hi, I wonder if I can keep ido from not remembering my history and only show completions for files that are in the current directory when I am searching for a file. I understand that this history feature is useful at times, but I often end up editing the incorrect file because I think I am editing file called 'abc.txt' in the current directory but in fact I am editing the file by the same name in another one that I previously visited (often happens when there is not an 'abc.txt' in the current directory, as I mistakenly assume). From reading the ido.el file I thought to set in my .emacs file (also evaluated these expressions in running emacs instance): (custom-set-variables '(ido-enable-last-directory-history nil) '(ido-record-commands nil) ) and deleted a file called .ido.last in ~/, but still it remembers some previous files I've visited before making these changes. How can I purge my previous history, and I am not entirely sure what the difference between the two variables above are but seems to have done the trick to keep ido from remembering files I visit in the future?   I've downloaded and installed the Bonjour SDK for Windows on my Win7 64bit machine. I've tried to build both of the the projects in C:\Program Files\Bonjour SDK\Samples\CS. However they both reference Bonjour, causing me to get the following build error 'Cannot load type library for reference "Bonjour". Library not registered.' Bonjour appears to be installed properly as I can run the Bonjour Printer Wizard and it appears to work properly. Any idea why Visual Studio can't find the Library? I'm using Visual Studio 2008 by the way.

  I'm using Amazon's CloudFront to serve static files of my web apps. Is there no way to tell a cloudfront distribution that it needs to refresh it's file or point out a single file that should be refreshed? Amazon recommend that you version your files like logo_1.gif, logo_2.gif and so on as a workaround for this problem but that seems like a pretty stupid solution. Is there absolutely no other way?

The method looks something like this: public HttpResponseMessage Post(string id, RegistrationData registerData) It seems the problem is that the client (which I have no control over) is always sending the content-type as x-www-form-urlencoded, even though the content is actually json. This causes mvc to try to deserialize as form data, which fails. Is there anyway to get webapi to always deserialize as json, and to ignore the content-type header?

  I'm using the jQuery Fancybox plugin to display some content on a website. Unfortunately, when a link is clicked, the lightbox that is loaded starts at the same scroll position as the previous one. I tried using self.scrollTo(0,0) $.scrollTo(0) $('#top').scrollTo(); and a few others methods to push it back to the top, but none have seemed to work. Any help on this?

Please note that I am aware the two are functionally equivalent, as the default controller action will be executed either way. I'm just interested in forcing consistent URLs in the browser.

• Force VSProps settings to override project settings

  I have a vsprops file that defines the optimizations all of our projects should be built with for Visual Studio 2008. If I set the properties for the project to "inherit from parent of project defaults" it works, and fills them in the vcproj file. However, this doesn't protect me from a developer checking in a project file that changes the optimizations. In this case, the project settings are used over the vsprops settings. I need to make it so that vsprops always takes precedence over what is in the vcproj file. Is this possible? Other workarounds are also welcome.

  My Visual Studio 2005 is a French one, installed on a French OS. All the exceptions I receive during debug or runtime I obtain also in French. Can I however do something that the exceptions messages be in English? For goggling, discussing etc. I tried the following: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo("en-US"); throw new NullReferenceException(); obtained Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This is, surely, cool... but, as I work on a French project, I will not hardcode forcing Thread.CurrentUICulture to English. I want the English change to be only on my local machine, and don't change the project properties. Is it possible to set the exceptions language without modifying the code of the application? In VS 2008, set the Tools - Options - Environment - International Settings - Language to "English" wnd throwing the same exception obtain the ex message en French, however:
