  • Cant see my wireless internal card on BackTrack 5

    I have BackTrack 5 R3 installed on VMware and its on bridged connection so it gets its own ip on my network and it works I get internet connection but there is no ethernet cable connected yet somehow when I do iwconfig I cant see wlan0 and no other wireless card but etho is connected to the network somehow.... cant it be that eth0 is my wireless card which somehow misconfigured? Its an intel centrino advanced n 6205

  • Black Screen After Sleep (Win 8)

    I have an SSD only, Intel HD Graphics only, Ultrabook running on Windows 8 64-bit and after I turn it back on, after a long sleep of a few hours, the screen remains black even though the power is on (the fan and keyboard backlight are on). I have to force a shut down and switch it back on to use it normally again. Hibernation and hybrid-sleep are turned off. It comes out of sleep of less than an hour just fine. Any advise? Mark

Is there a utility program that allows for sending ASCII characters on the USB port that the RS232C device will understand? If possible, I'd rather avoid programming.   • How do I keep windows XP from automatically changing the screen resolution?

    I have an Asus EEEBox (EB202, intel GMA 950) hooked up to my 1080p TV (DVI-HDMI cable). I use it to watch standard definition movies and TV shows. I prefer to run at 1280x720 so that I can see things more easily, but every time I turn off the TV, then back on again, the resolution defaults to 1080p (1920x1080). How can I force a specific resolution? If that's not possible, is there a way to use a batch script to switch to the desired resolution faster?

    Hi there! I tried running DxDiag (DirectX diagnostics), and I noticed that my graphics card is set to the onboard one that comes with the Core i5 processor (some Intel HD stuff). On my computer, I also have a dedicated graphics card (an Nvidia 310). No serious gaming stuff, I know - just for programming. However, I would still love to know how to switch to that dedicated graphics card instead. My laptop is an MSI CX720.

    I have a new computer with an Asus P8Z68-V LE + Intel i2500 + 8GB of RAM. I installed Ubuntu without any issue, but the USB3 (from the motherboard - on the back of the computer) doesn't work. I plug a USB stick -- nothing, I plug my USB3 external drive -- nothing, when I plug them into the USB2 and everything works perfectly. Also, I ran all updates and everything is up to date. What am I missing?

It works fine, but I can't set the resolution to anything higher than 1600 x 1200, whereas my screen is 1920x1080. Windows boots only if setup DVD is present(i have to ignore "press any key to boot from DVD" prompt). to present the login Screen and everything looks great from here. But the server wont boot without the help of setup DVD. Can any one help me understand what would be the problem? Dell Workstation T3600 Intel Pro NIC (Capable of ISCI Boot and also enabled)

    I understand the 32 bit Vista limit in addressing only 4Gb of memory space but I have a very specific question: I have 3Gb installed on a Vista 32 bit system with a 512Mb video card, MSI X-58 board, Intel i7, 920 CPU. System Information currently shows: Installed Memory: 3.00Gb Available Physical Memory: 1.73 Gb My understanding is that the 512Mb video card occupies memory addresses between 4.0Gb and 3.5Gb and so does not subtract from the 3.0Gb of physical memory (correct my understanding if wrong) My Question: If I install another 1Gb of RAM, will my Available Memory increase to 2.73Gb? I've found a list of chipsets that are purported to have this, but every board I look at, the vendor has decided to not support that feature.
