  • jQuery-AJAX to rebind dropdown list to results from stored procedure

    I have a dropdown list of peoples names that is quite long. As many as 2,000 names. I would like to make it easier to find the name the user is interested in by limiting the dropdown list to a subset of names at a time. I have done this by creating a series of 26 links (A, B, C ... Z) that call a method in the code behind that populates the dropdown list with only those names starting with the letter the user clicked. This all works well but I would like to be able to use AJAX to accomplish this update of the dropdown list without a page refresh. I would like to use jQuery for the AJAX functionality rather than ASP.NET AJAX. My problem is I am not sure how to execute the stored procedure and then "rebind" the dropdown list with the new dataset via jQuery AJAX. Any suggestions or resources that might provide and example or walk-through? Thank you.

So when my coworker tests from her computer with another code, giving access to another place in the tree, she get's the same tree as me. (The tree is supposed to show your own level and down.) I have added a html-comment to show what orgid it passes to the function, and the orgid passed is correct. So either the treeview caches something serverside, or the sqlquery caches it's result somehow... Any ideas? EDIT: I have narrowed it down. All functions returns correct values. It just doesn't bind to it. I suspect the CssFriendly adapter to have something to do with it. I disabled the CssFriendly adapter and the problem persists... Stepping through it in debug it's correct all the way, with the stepper standing on "tvNavtree.DataBind();" I can hover the pointer over the tvNavtree.Datasource and see that it actually has the correct data. So something must be faulting in the binding process...

    I am using a javascript function (F) (jquery )which uses 3 select values selected by the user to calculates a value - R(result) R is a number ranging from (1 through 9), (11) and (22); I need 2 extra steps one before the calculation and one after. a. Before calculation takes place: Make sure all three select values are changed before function(F) takes place. If not prompt the user with a notice ( create dom element/ I am using jquery) b. After the value R is calculated show an element corresponding to the result e.g. if R is 1 show an element ( a predetermined "link" element corresponding to each result value) thanks a lot.

    I've got two instances of a SessionScoped CDI bean for the same session. I was under the impression that there would be one instance generated for me by CDI, but it generated two. Am I misunderstanding how CDI works, or did I find a bug?   • Sort NSFetchedResultsController results by user location

    I have an application that contains some Locations in Core Data, and I want to show them to the user in order of proximity to the user's location. I am using an NSFetchedResultsController to serve the locations to the Table View. I thought about creating a virtual accessor method that returns the location's distance from the user, that would be calculated using a "global" CoreLocationManager, but it crashes with reason: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'keypath distanceFromCurrentLocation not found in entity < NSSQLEntity Location id=4' I also give the user the option to sort alphabetically, so I would prefer it if I kept the NSFetchedResultsController, if possible. How should I do it? Thanks!

    I have an API that I'm working with and it has limited documentation. I have been told that some of the methods that it executes are called asynchronously. How can I get the result of these asynchronous calls. Note that I am not doing anything special to call them, the API handles the asynchronous part. But I can't seem to get a "reply" back from these calls - I'm assuming that's because they are in another thread.

    I'm using simple code: import urllib2 response = urllib2.urlopen("http://www.mysite.com/getfile/4355") output = open('myfile.zip','wb') output.write(response.read()) output.close() The web-server is IIS + ASP.NET MVC 4 It returns FileResult wrapping a zip-file with "application/octet-stream" content-type. The problem is that downloaded zip file is broken - only 4.1kB size, where it must be 24kB. When I type the url adress in web-browser directly - it downloads and opens fine. Could you please, suggest, what's wrong with my Python code?

  • Https in java ends up with strange results

    I'm trying to illustrate to students how https is used in java. But i have the feeling my example is not really the best out there... The code works well on my windows 7: I start the server, go to https://localhost:8080/somefile.txt and i get asked to trust the certificate, and all goes well. When I try over http (before or after accepting the certificate) I just get a blank page, which is ok for me. BUT when I try the exact same thing on my windows XP: Same thing, all goes well. But then (after accepting the certificate first), I'm also able to get all the the files through http! (if I first try http before https followed by accepting the certificate, I get no answer..) I tried refreshing, hard refreshing a million times but this should not be working, right? Is there something wrong in my code?   • why does entity framework+mysql provider enumeration returns partial results with no exceptions

    I'm trying to make sense of a situation I have using entity framework on .net 3.5 sp1 + MySQL 6.1.2.0 as the provider. It involves the following code: Response.Write("Products: " + plist.Count() + "<br />"); var total = 0; foreach (var p in plist) { //... some actions total++; //... other actions } Response.Write("Total Products Checked: " + total + "<br />"); Basically the total products is varying on each run, and it isn't matching the full total in plist. Its varies widely, from ~ 1/5th to half. There isn't any control flow code inside the foreach i.e. no break, continue, try/catch, conditions around total++, anything that could affect the count. As confirmation, there are other totals captured inside the loop related to the actions, and those match the lower and higher total runs. I don't find any reason to the above, other than something in entity framework or the mysql provider that causes it to end the foreach when retrieving an item. The body of the foreach can have some good variation in time, as the actions involve file & network access, my best shot at the time is that when the .net code takes beyond certain threshold there is some type of timeout in the underlying framework/provider and instead of causing an exception it is silently reporting no more items for enumeration. Can anyone give some light in the above scenario and/or confirm if the entity framework/mysql provider has the above behavior? Update: I can't reproduce the behavior by using Thread.Sleep in a simple foreach in a test project, not sure where else to look for this weird behavior :(.

The table tha is being queried is residing in another database and accesssed using dblink. The DT columns is of NUMBER type (for ex 20101201) .The execution of the query is taking a day long and not completed. kindly suggest me , if their is any optimisation that can be suggested to my DBA on the dblink, or any tuning that can be done on the query , or rewriting the same.   • Javascript "Match" Function Not Returning Proper Results in Safari or IE (but yes in FF)

    Forgive me as this is a time sensitive issue and I will have to switch the site back in a few hours so the link will be bad... but: I am simply comparing two strings looking for a match with this function... I have an array of objects called linkArray and I need to match the .src of each object to a .src I send it (the src of the clicked image). if the the src of the image I clicked matches the src of an object in my array, I set a variable to the link string of that object and return true, letting my page know that the link is available. Now, this works great in FF. But not in any other browser and I can't figure out for the life of me why. I have set up a dialogue box to literally compare, by eye, the two strings that should at the very least throw the message "match".     Hi all, I'm trying to write a bit of SQL for SQLITE that will take a subset from two tables (TableA and TableB) and then perform a LEFT JOIN. This is what I've tried, but this produces the wrong result: Select * from TableA Left Join TableB using(key) where TableA.key2 = "xxxx" AND TableB.key3 = "yyyy" This ignore cases where key2="xxxx" but key3 != "yyyy". I want all the rows from TableA that match my criteria whether or not their corresponding value in TableB matches, but only those rows from TableB that match both conditions. I did manage to solve this by using a VIEW, but I'm sure there must be a better way of doing this. It's just beginning to drive me insane tryng to solve it now. (Thanks for any help, hope I've explained this well enough).
