My requirements are to be able to thumbnail the major image and file extensions: doc(x), txt, xls(x), pdf, rte, and as many others as possible.
We have been hooking into Office extensions to do this in the past, but they are not really supported on Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.
Are there any third party thumbnailing applications that you have had success implementing? Preferably ones that are easy to invoke from .Net
I am new to Git hub and was able to successfully create an ssh key and upload it to the website however when I type in
git push origin master
I receive the following error:
error: cannot run ssh: no such file or directory
fatal: unable to fork
I am using Cygwin on a windows Vista machine if that is also useful. Ok.. after installing openssh I now get the error:
Permission denied (publickey)
fatal: the remote end hung up unexpectedly
Hi,
I wanna do some local developer tests of IIS 7 but I don't have Windows Vista, 7 or 2008 server - I currently run XP SP3.
I have Virtual PC installed so I can use Microsoft's IE compatibility images - are there any time-limited images that I can use with Virtual PC so I can check out IIS 7?
The IIS 7 "Try it" link points to this page. But the VHS is for Windows Server platforms only I think and I don't want an ISO?
Any advice?
Hi there,
I am working on a windows installer project. And now I only want the software only can be installed on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 RC system, I tried to use this:
<Condition Message='Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 is required'>(VersionNT = 600 AND ServicePackLevel = 1) OR VersionNT = 601 </Condition>
but it can still be installed on Windows Vista. Please help!
Thank you!
I would like to develop a small notifications application for Windows in .NET that docks on the right/left side of the screen (not consuming more than 300px), should always be visible and force the rest of windows to not overlap this application (something like the old Office taskbar or Vista's Sidebar). I have no idea where to start. Can it be done using XAML/WPF? Since I haven't even started coding any option is valid at this point.
Thanks!
Hi.,
I have a web-page application already created, but when I open it in visual studio 2008, it says there that:
ASP.NET 2.0 has not been registered on the Web Server. You need to
manually configure you Web server for ASP.NET 2.0 in order for your
site to run correctly.
I'm using asp.net 2.0, IIS7 and running on vista home premium.
How to register ASP.NET 2.0 to my web server(IIS7)?
When I try to initialize a 3D array of size 300*300*4 in a C program, my program stops running and reports stack overflow error. The system I am using has 3GB RAM, which should be sufficeint. Is there any way to increase memory allocated to a program? I am using Dev C++ on Windows Vista.

I would like to convert this /bin/sh syntax into a widely compatible Windows batch script:
host=`hostname`
echo ${host}
How to do this so that it'll work on any Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 machine?
To clarify: I would then like to go on in the program and use the hostname as stored in the variable host. In other words, the larger goal of the program is not to simply echo the hostname.

I need to write a Windows XP/Vista application, main requirements:
Just one .exe file, without extra runtime, like Air, .Net; posstibly a couple of dlls.
Very small file size.
The application is for network centric usage, similar to ICQ or Gtalk clients.
hello fellow java developers,
Im trying toget the System.getProperty("os.name") of my own machine. I am running a java application directly from the machine from within eclipse.
My machine is "windows 7"
the returned value is "windows vista" ! Seems wrong, very wrong. and yes I am sure that I am running the app on a windows 7 machine...
Any ideas as to what is going on here?
Hi:
I am using mysettings to save user settings.
This config file is saved in this path:
c:\ Documents and
Settings \ \ [Local
Settings] Application
Data\\\
Is possible to change this path? For example, in my case I save app data in "ProgramData" folder (Vista & W7) and I would like save this config file in the same folder. Is possible?
Thanks in advance
Is there anyway with Windows api to detect whether a Windows 7 computer's network connection is an internet connection or a LAN connection without internet access?
Windows 7 and Vista indicate this in the network icon (Local only v. Local and Internet), is there anyway to grab that information progammatically?
Not completely a programming question, but its close enough so here goes:
In Mac OS I'll put user-specific files for my app in ~/Library/Application Data/{MyApp}/ and in *nix I'll put them in ~/.{MyApp}/ - where should I put them for Windows?
I'll be using Ruby's File.expand_path to get to this directory, so if there's a windows equivalent of ~ then that's fine.
(Answers for Windows XP, Vista and 7 would be appreciated if they're not the same)
After rearranging my physical network in my apartment my Windows Vista machine can no longer connect to the network. I have tested all of the cabling by connecting other devices and everything is fine. I'm able to connect using other computers, I've even tested a brand new ethernet adapter and the network status still reads "media disconnected". I have no idea where to go from here.
My setup is as follows: Cable modem - router - hardwired ethernet cable to computer.
Hey guys just I wanted to know if there is a way to block internet access to my PC by writing code in c#. I'm using windows 7, a way to control the firewall will also help, I've seen solutions for XP and vista , but didn't find any for '7'. Thanks:)
My C#-programm has a windows.forms.timer that fires all 24h for a background task.
During a day I put my Vista 64bit several times in stand-by mode (never switch it off).
It seems that after wake-up the timer is sort of reset.
How can I remove all entities or reset the local datastore on my dev_appserver? I accidentally recursively called a function to create an entity when testing.
I am using the Google App-engine SDK on Vista with Python.
I've recently been given a MS Access .mdb database file and asked to make it usable in a Linux system. What I'm looking for is a way to convert the Access database to an open-source database such as MySQL or PostGres.
I don't have MS Office, and it's a one-time project for a volunteer organization so I don't want to spend money if it's avoidable. I'm running Vista x64, and have a Linux virtualbox, so something usable in either one will be good.
I have an erlang program which runs a server on a local machine and I would like it to start a local web browser and point to itself on startup. How can I do this in a portable way across Windows XP. Vista, and Windows 7?
