  • OpenVPN not sending traffic to internet?

    - by coleifer
I've set up openvpn on my pi and am running into a small issue. I can connect to the VPN server and ping it just fine, and I can also connect to other machines on my local network. However I am unable, when connected to the VPN, to reach the outside world (either by name lookup or IP). here are the details: On the server the tun0 interface: tun0: flags=4305<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,NOARP,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.8.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 destination 10.8.0.2 unspec 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 txqueuelen 100 (UNSPEC) RX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B) RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0 TX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B) TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0 I can ping it just fine: # ping -c 3 10.8.0.1 PING 10.8.0.1 (10.8.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 10.8.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.159 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.155 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.156 ms --- 10.8.0.1 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2002ms Routing table # ip route show default via 192.168.1.1 dev eth0 metric 204 10.8.0.0/24 via 10.8.0.2 dev tun0 10.8.0.2 dev tun0 proto kernel scope link src 10.8.0.1 192.168.1.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.6 metric 204 I also have ip traffic forwarding: net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 I do not have any custom iptables rules (that I'm aware of). On the client, I can connect to the VPN. Here is my tun0: tun0: flags=4305<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,NOARP,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.8.0.6 netmask 255.255.255.255 destination 10.8.0.5 unspec 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 txqueuelen 100 (UNSPEC) RX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B) RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0 TX packets 21 bytes 1527 (1.4 KiB) TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0 And on the client I can ping it: sudo ping -c 3 10.8.0.6 PING 10.8.0.6 (10.8.0.6) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 10.8.0.6: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.035 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.6: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.026 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.6: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.032 ms --- 10.8.0.6 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 1998ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.026/0.031/0.035/0.003 ms I can ssh from the client into another server on my LAN (192.168.1.x), however I cannot reach anything outside my LAN. Here's some of the server logs at the bottom of this gist: https://gist.github.com/coleifer/6ef95c3008f130249933/edit I am frankly out of ideas! I don't think it's my client because both my laptop and my phone (which has an openvpn client) exhibit the same behavior. I had OpenVPN installed on this pi before using debian and it worked, so I don't think it's my router but of course anything is possible.

  • EasyVPN client Access mutiple subnet behind cisco 5510

    - by zatrac
I need help with the following scenario Main network ASA 5510 (one inside 192.168.10.1 connection and one outside connection). This ASA 5510 connect to switch 3570 with 3 VLANS configured (192.168.10.0, 10.10.11.0, 10.10.12.0). On the remote site I have ASA5505 ( 10.10.13.0) connected to this ASA5510 through EZVPN, but all it can see is the 192.168.10.0 subnet. What do I need to do to get the subnet 10.10.13.0 to see all 3 internal subnets.

  • Conflicting ip routes with local table on attaching a virtual network interface

    - by user1071840
I have an EC2 instance with these ip rules: $ sudo ip rule show 0: from all lookup local 32766: from all lookup main 32767: from all lookup default I can attach an elastic network interface to it with a private IP. Say the IP of my machine is 10.1.3.12 and the IP of the interface is 10.1.1.190. As soon as I attach the interface to my machine a new entry is added to the routing policy and local routing table: sudo ip rule show 0: from all lookup local 32765: from 10.1.1.190 lookup 10003 32766: from all lookup main 32767: from all lookup default $ sudo ip route show table local broadcast 10.1.1.0 dev eth3 proto kernel scope link src 10.1.1.190 local 10.1.1.190 dev eth3 proto kernel scope host src 10.1.1.190 broadcast 10.1.1.255 dev eth3 proto kernel scope link src 10.1.1.190 broadcast 10.1.3.0 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 10.1.3.12 local 10.1.3.12 dev eth0 proto kernel scope host src 10.1.3.12 broadcast 10.1.3.255 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 10.1.3.12 broadcast 127.0.0.0 dev lo proto kernel scope link src 127.0.0.1 local 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo proto kernel scope host src 127.0.0.1 local 127.0.0.1 dev lo proto kernel scope host src 127.0.0.1 broadcast 127.255.255.255 dev lo proto kernel scope link src 127.0.0.1 I can send traffic to this ENI directly from a host that can have the same IP as the host the ENI is attached to. This is where the problem starts. I ran tcpdump on the port in question and saw multiple SYNs going to the ENI with src '10.1.3.12' and destination '10.1.1.190' but didn't see even a single ACK. In my understanding if ACKs were being sent from the ENI they'd have destination as 10.1.3.12 i.e. the same as the local machine's IP and such packets will now be routed as local packets matching local routing policy: local 10.1.3.12 dev eth0 proto kernel scope host src 10.1.3.12 I'd like to send all the packets originating from 10.1.1.190 (my ENI) to go back on the same interface i.e. eth3 in this case. Contents of the nee table 10003 are: $ sudo ip route show table 10003 default via 10.1.1.1 dev eth3 I think I can do the following: I don't know if its possible but probably decrease the priority of local table so the packets match the table 10003. Use iptables to mangle these packets and update the local table route to include the mark information But I'm not sure if these are the right approaches.

  • NSCalendar: Problem getting weeks in a month...

    - by AngrySpade
I am creating a calendar control of sorts... One thing I need to know is how many weeks are there in a Month... So NSCalendar rangeOfUnit:inUnit:forDate Seems to be exactly what I need... Except I am noticing something that seems off and I can't quite figure out why this is happening... The following code... • My VS 2010 and ASP.NET 4 Talks Online

    - by ScottGu
The past 7 years I’ve done an annual all day event in Arizona – organized by the most excellent Scott Cate (who always does a phenomenal job organizing the event and making it a great one). Earlier this month I visited and presented 4+ hours of content covering VS 2010, ASP.NET 4 and ASP.NET MVC 2.  NextSlide.com – a great .NET shop local to Arizona who has a great product for sharing presentations – volunteered to record the talks and publish them for free using their online presentation tool.  The recordings they did turned out really, really great – and their online player (which combines slides + camera of me + demos in one experience) is awesome.  Below you can watch the first two segments of my event – which cover VS 2010 and ASP.NET 4 – for free online using the NextSlide.com player experience.  I’ll post a link to my ASP.NET MVC 2 segment a little later in a separate blog post.  If you’ve never seen my present these talks before and are interested in the content then I’d recommend checking them out – as these recordings do a really good job capturing them. Part 1 - VS 2010 This is a 49 minute segment that starts the event and covers a bunch of the new improvements in VS 2010.  You can launch the presentation directly here or watch it inline below.  You can download powerpoint versions of my slides here. Part 2- ASP.NET 4 This 61 minute segment comes next and drills into some of the framework improvements with ASP.NET 4.  It also goes further on some of the web specific tooling improvements in VS 2010 – and towards the end demonstrates some of the great new end-to-end web deployment features provided with VS 2010 (which work for both ASP.NET Web Forms and ASP.NET MVC applications). You can launch the presentation directly here or watch it inline below: Learning More about VS 2010 and ASP.NET 4 I’ve been working on a series of blog post about VS 2010 and .NET 4.  Many of the features I covered in my two talks above are described in more detail in posts within the series.  You can read all of them here. I’ll be continuing adding to the series via my blog, so stay tuned for more in-depth posts about a bunch more new features. Hope this helps, Scott P.S. People often ask whether they can re-use the slides+demos I use in my talks for talks of their own.  The answer to this is always absolutely! No need to ask permission.  Feel free to re-use all of my slides for talks of your own. P.P.S. In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. • Solution for developers wanting to run a standalone WLS 10.3.6 server against JDev 11.1.1.6.0

    - by Chris Muir
In my previous post I discussed how to install the 11.1.1.6.0 ADF Runtimes into a standalone WLS 10.3.6 server by using the ADF Runtime installer, not the JDeveloper installer.  Yet there's still a problem for developers here because JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 comes coupled with a WLS 10.3.5 server.  What if you want to develop, deploy and test with a 10.3.6 server?  Have we lost the ability to integrate the IDE and the WLS server where we can run and stop the server, deploy our apps automatically the server and more? JDeveloper actually solved this issue sometime back but not many people will have recognized the feature for what it does as it wasn't needed until now. Via the Application Server Navigator you can create 2 types of connections, one to a remote "standalone WLS" and another to an "integrated WLS".  It's this second option that is useful because what we can do is install a local standalone WLS 10.3.6 server on our developer PC, then create a separate "integrated WLS" connection to the standalone server.  Then by accessing your Application's properties through the Application menu -> Application Properties -> Run -> Bind to Integration Application Server option we can choose the newly created WLS server connection to work with our application. In this way JDeveloper will now treat the new server as if it was the integrated WLS.  It will start when we run and deploy our applications, terminate it at request and so on.  Of course don't forget you still need to install the ADF Runtimes for the server to be able to work with ADF applications. Note there is bug 13917844 lurking in the Application Server Navigator for at least JDev 11.1.1.6.0 and earlier.  If you right click the new connection and select "Start Server Instance" it will often start one of the other existing connections instead (typically the original IntegratedWebLogicServer connection).  If you want to manually start the server you can bypass this by using the Run menu -> Start Server Instance option which works correctly.

  • Does anyone work 10 hours shifts as a developer?

    - by dah
I would like to switch from a 5 day week to a 4 day, but maintain a 40 hour working week. Would the 10 hour days affect your ability to be productive? I hate our public transit system so if I could reduce my transportation by 20% I would be glad. If other developers who work 10 hours shifts could be clear as the their experiences with it that would help me. I think my boss is flexible enough that he would be cool with it.

  • Converting VS 2008 Project to VS 2010 - now .aspx won't load

    - by coffeeaddict
I converted all my other projects fine from VS 2008 to 2010 and they run great. There is one project however for some reason after converting, when I try to run one of the .aspx pages in it, I get nothing...no error, just that it cannot display the page. Nothing has changed. The path is still the same, and the IIS website is still the same. I even recreated the site in IIS using the VS option to create it in the web project properties. This is a testing project..only has like one .aspx in it. Not sure why I get nothing after converting this. I did not convert it to .NET 4.0, it's still in v3.5 in VS 2010.
