  We have recently installed RHEL 5.4 on some existing 6.2 OS and migrated our code from RH 6.2 to RHEL 5.4. We are facing a difficulty that given a binary (on both OS they have same name) how can we distinguish that which gcc and OS it was build as there are some minor differences in between binary respectively made.   While the NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification perfectly makes sense on Mac OS X, I don't see how you can possibly receive it on iPhone OS. In order to change the locale, you have to quit the running application, then change it in Settings ? General ? International ? Region Format. At that point, your app is not running, so how could it receive the notification? I first thought this notification was leftover from the Mac OS X documentation, but then I found this in Apple Push Notification Service Programming Guide: The application might send its provider the preferred language every time the user changes something in the current locale. To do this, you can listen for the notification named NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification and, in your notification-handling method, get the code identifying the preferred language and send that to your provider. So, how do you trigger this notification on iPhone OS?

• How to localize for Windows Phone based on OS version

  I'm building a Windows Phone application and my client has given me a list of languages that he would like the App to be localized for. The problem is that some of those languages are not supported by Windows Phone and I then decided to check out the list of supported langauges which is available here. I noticed that there are two OS option for Windows Phone, i.e. 7.0 and 7.1 but during development I am not sure of how to check for which OS the phone is running so that I know which list of languages to supply to the user. I'd like to know how to check if the Windows Phone OS is 7.0 or 7.1 (I'm assuming that his caters for later OS versions that might have come after the list was created)

  Are there any alternatives to web of trust for chrome and firefox. Because I found out that Wot doesn't always ask you if you want to access a dangerous site or not. While I was browsing a while ago for a curriculum vitae template. I saw this image on google that looks like one. I click it but then it brought me to a site with a red mark in Wot, and wot doesn't even bother to inform me first that the site is dangerous. Do you know of any alternatives?

• How do I remove the Conduit toolbar that comes with µTorrent?

  I have recently installed µTorrent in my computer and unfortunately the Conduit adware came bundled with it. Basically, it installs a toolbar on all browsers and replaces the default search and initial homepage to that of Conduit. I have tried to run AdAware and MalwareBytes but both were unable to remove it. Search results on Google tell me to remove the Conduit software in the Control Panel → Remove Programs, but it's not listed there. Other suggestions involved going into the extensions configuration in Chrome, but it's not listed there as well. Anybody had the same problem?

• Gmail page works but won't stop loading

  When I open the GMail page in Chrome (9.0.597.102) on OS X (10.6.4), the page works fine and is functional, but it often remains in a "Loading" state, with the loading icon active, for extremely long periods of time. Functionally, there is no problem, since everything is accessible, and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it immediately completes loading, other times it will claim to be "loading" for hours. My date is correct (as set with time.*.apple.com), and I don't have any Google Labs enabled. Does anyone else have this problem, or know the cause and solution?

• How do I change the URL handler for Apple Mail?

  When I highlight and right-click on text in an email message in Apple Mail 4.4 (1082), I can select "Search in Google". Despite having either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox set as my default web browser within Apple Safari 5.0.3 (6533.19.4) preferences, Apple Mail will open Safari, then open a new window in Safari with the search results. How do I change the default URL handler in Apple Mail, so that searches are opened in my default browser? Or is this a known bug? Thanks for your advice!

• Cannot boot into Lucid Lynx

  I upgraded from Karmic Koala to Lucid Lynx beta, was working fine for a while (was even rebooting). But, after some time, it is not booting and i cant find a solution. I have tried installing the grub again, doesn't help. Well, the problem is all my settings, bookmarks and passwords are blocked in that partition. I cant find where the Chrome stores bookmarks in Ubuntu. Can you help me either getting my system rebooted or getting the bookmarks ? Thanks. p.s. I am currently on liveusb.

• Saving ink when printing?

  I need a map of the SMC campus, but I'm really sick of running out of ink after printing one thing and then having to pay ridiculous sums of money to buy more ink. The map is here: http://www.smc.edu/campusmap/images/SMC-2D-Map_12-Clr_9-10_crop.jpg I would print in black and white, but I'm wondering if there are any chrome or photoshop extensions, or even websites that transform the image into something more ink-conservative. For example, I don't need the buildings to be a solid color, or the roads to be gray, so it would be a tremendous waste of ink to print it as is. Anyone know anything like I'm talking about?

  I have seen lately a concept of installing open web applications in Firefox and Google Chrome just like extensions here . While the site says it as a installable websites. It looks very similar to bookmarks to me. When you click either bookmarks or this installed applications, it opens new tab and the site or application can be viewed. My question is what is the main difference between normal web application like Gmail, or Super user or Facebook and these installable websites? Also what is the advantage in using this installable web apps from normal web applications which we can access by entering url in the browser address bar?   a few hours ago, I found a link to Kickass Torrent, which is blocked in my country, Italy and went for it. The link worked just fine but wasn't able to save anything. I renounced and continued normal navigation. I then noticed that everytime I try to access some pages, for instance google.com (but not Google.it) I receive a warning from Chrome that I'm being redirected through piratenpartji.nl Since I found a similar topic here on 'superuser' I tried what was proposed in the solution, namely shutting down adblock and trying again or trying Incognito mode. Nevertheless, no result. I performed a search with both Avira and Spybot SD but except for a couple cookies from other origin nothing came up. What do you suggest I do? • How do you set the Scheduled Tasks "Run only if logged in" option from the command line?

  I want to create some tasks with the "Run only if logged in" option set, but using a batch file, as you can in the user interface version of the schtasks.exe tool. I'm doing this so I don't have to specify a password, either in the batch file, or when the batch file is run... I would use /ru System but I can't because the tool I'm automating (SyncToy 2.1) won't run with that account because I am hitting a network drive... Also, I noticed that Google Chrome sets up some tasks with this option set during installation, so I'm thinking there must be a way...

• Crop and Capture screen software/plugin for windows7

  Do you know a software or a plugin for a browser that lets me capture what's on my screen and crop it by ratio. I have a photoshop but I don't want to keep opening it just to capture a simple image and then croping it and then saving it. I want to quickly select a portion on my screen save it. If it's possible it lets me crop by ratio (eg. 4:3). Most that I will capture are in my browser, I use either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. • No sound from Java web applet

  Using Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers on Ubuntu 9.10, I am unable to get any sound out from Java (version 6 update 15) on Runescape or WebSDR. I'm only interested in getting WebSDR working and Runescape was the only other web applet I knew would have sound. Sound does work in a test applet I downloaded when run from the command line so it seems to be a web specific issue. Anyone else encountered or solved this or a similar issue? Are there any better applets out there that I can use to test my sound?

• Webkit based browsers on Mac refuse to load certain websites or resources, other browsers work fine from the same machine

  OK, this one has really been puzzling me. Certain websites (such as instapaper.com ) or certain resources (such as the CSS and images for icanhazcheezeburger.com sites) refuse to load at all in Safari or Chrome on any of my Mac machines. Rebooting the machine doesn't fix it. If I use another browser, such as Firefox or a browser on my iPhone or in my Windows virtual machine, the pages load just fine. When the whole page errors out, Safari displays an error: "WebKit encountered an internal error" WebKitErrorDomain:300 This is all from within my home network. Any ideas what could possibly be causing such bizarre behavior?

• Bookmarks folder on two machines not syncing

  I have Chromium installed on a Ubuntu 12.04 machine and Chrome on a Windows 7 machine. Both are updated to newest stable release. I am logged in on both machines with the same Google account. I created a folder A on my Windows machine and bookmarked some pages. A few hours later and before the folder appeared, I created a folder named A on the Ubuntu machine and continued adding links to it. Now, both the folders are not syncing and contain links local to each machine only. Is there any way to resolve this?

• Problems with Adobe Flash

  I'm running Windows 7, 64-Bit on a Core-i5 HP Notebook. For approximately the last 3 months, I've had major problems with Adobe Flash. Flash has been uninstalled and installed again multiple times. No changes. Here is what happens in different browsers: (All browsers are in the latest version as of this post) Firefox: Doesn't work at all. This bothers me most, since FF is my favorite browser; I'm using a lot of Plugins. Have tried to de-activate all Plugins, but no change. IE and Chrome: Works, but most pages with Flash are stuck during page load for ~30 seconds. After that, everything is fine. Opera: No problems, everything working as it should. Strange, eh? Any help is highly appreciated!

  Recently upgraded to Windows 8. The problem is a lot of Sync features requires Microsoft account to linked. Even though I have one, I don't want to spare one for Sync purpose. Additionally, Google-Chrome's sync feature is absolutely charming. So I prefer Google for storing my data. So, 1) Is there anyway to replace Microsoft Sync with other accounts by patching or modifying any byte? 2) I want to replace Maps, Weather, and all possible apps with Google. I've see Mail can be done. What are the all other possible Metro apps?

• SpeedTracer NETWORK_RESOURCE_RESPONSE vs NETWORK_RESOURCE_FINISH

  I'm using SpeedTracer with GoogleChrome to measure the load times of requested resources. The SpeedTracer site says: NETWORK_RESOURCE_RESPONSE "Indicates that the renderer has started receiving bits from the resource loader" NETWORK_RESOURCE_FINISH "Indictes a resource load is successful and complete." In my mind that means we would always see a network resource response (bytes are arriving) before we see a finish (all bytes received). This doesn't seem to be the case at all. Here is a sample: Request Timing @33519ms for 926ms Response Timing @34445ms for -847ms Total Timing @33519ms for 78ms I'm guessing response time isn't supposed to be negative. Can someone explain this or is this a bug? I'm using Chrome 10.0.612.3 dev with a SpeedTracer I downloaded today.

• Allow HTTPS cookies but not HTTP?

  I want to allow cookies for a domain but only over HTTPS -- not cookies from the same domain that come from HTTP. For example, I don't want any http://www.google.com cookies, but I do want to allow https://www.google.com cookies (because Calendars are there). Is there a way to do this? Does the goal even make sense? In Chrome, it only allows domain names, not URLs, to be added to the cookie exception list. In Firefox, it allows a protocol, but it only records the domain name, and if you click "Allow" or "Deny", it changes the same entry in the list.

• Connection to website interrupted/reset. Why?

  When navigating to some websites (like victorsosea.com, citibank.co.in etc.) on Google Chrome, I get a message that the 'connection to www.site.com was interrupted'. If I try on Firefox, it says 'The connection to the server was reset'. This happens no matter what internet connection I use on my laptop. Be it my home internet or office internet. I have tried using Google DNS address as well but that does not seem to solve the problem. I have been facing this problem randomly for some websites. Kindly let me know how I can resolve the issue. • Can't see any YouTube videos

  I have a problem with watching YouTube videos. It says: "An error occurred, please try again later". I've tried loading different videos and that's what it says to all the videos I try to watch. I've tried using another browser, clearing cache + cookies etc, but none of that really worked out. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium, I use Google Chrome as my browser. And the YouTube videos was able to be watched earlier. I suspect that it has something to do with the PC, since I've got YouTube working on my laptop earlier. Not sure if it still works on my laptop though. Hope I've given enough information for you to help me out with this problem. Feel free to ask if there's anything else you need to know. Anyone who can help me out?

• Browser pollution / Pop Up request

  From time to time, when I browse the internet , after entering a site's URL , I get a warning message that a pop up has been blocked , then a question mark and a set of numbers appends itself after the URL. It doesn't matter what site I want to navigate to, it can be a site I have developed, a well know site like drupal.org for instance. Here's what happens: enter url: example.com warning: pop up blocked url change to: example.com/?1347628900 After checking the pop up ( which of course turns out to be an unwanted ad ), i deducted that the request and the pop up were linked. This has never happened to me before, I'm not sure how this got started, how can I get rid of this? Clearing the cache , cookies etc... doesn't solve the issue. I'm using a Macbook Pro OS10.6.7 , Chrome 13.0.782.24 beta. Thanks in advance for any tips!
