  • Masking/Hiding URL for ASP.net web application

    - by SARAVAN
Hi, I am working in an ASP.NET mvc application. With regards to URL's I could see the Controller and action names in the address bar when user navigates between pages. Is there a way to hide them, such that the address bar always displays http://mywebsite.com without any action names or controller names suffixing them, or is there any other standard practices? Or is it ok to leave the URL as such which can contain action and controller suffixes?

  • Can I update window.location.hash without having the web page scroll?

    - by Jonathon Watney
Using JavaScript, is there a way to update window.location.hash without scrolling the web page? I have clickable title elements that toggle the visibility of a div directly beneath them. I want the /foo#bar in the history when clicking titles but don't want the page scrolling about. So when navigating away from /foo#bar I'll be able to use the back button and have the div whose ID is in window.location.hash be visible upon return. Is this behavior possible?

  • Referring to a specific place on page

    - by misha-moroshko
I know that in Javascript document.location.href = "#my_id" tells the browser to display the same page starting from element with id="my_id". In this case, the address that appears in the address bar is in the following format: my_page_address#my_id Is this the only method to refer to a specific place on a page ? I'm looking for a method that will not show my_id in the address bar.

  • What is the difference between Equals and = in LINQ?

    - by sunpech
What is the difference between Equals and = in LINQ? Dim list As List(Of Foo) = (From a As Foo In FooList _ Join b As Bar In BarList _ On a.Something = b.Something _ Select a).ToList() versus Dim list As List(Of Foo) = (From a As Foo In FooList _ Join b As Bar In BarList _ On a.Something Equals b.Something _ Select a).ToList()

  • Python new-style classes and __subclasses__ function

    - by Fraser Graham
Can somebody explain to me why this works (in Python 2.5) : class Foo(object): pass class Bar(Foo): pass print(Foo.__subclasses__()) but this doesn't : class Foo(): pass class Bar(Foo): pass print(Foo.__subclasses__()) The latter returns "AttributeError: class Foo has no attribute '__subclasses__'" but i'm not sure why. I know this is related to old-style vs. new-style classes but i'm not clear on why that would make this functionality unavailable.

  • Silverlight: Binding to a LayoutRoot value from within a DataTemplate

    - by Rosarch
I have a DataTemplate for a ListBox, where I have several controls that bind to an item. I would also like to bind to a value on LayoutRoot.DataContext. I'm unsure of how to do this. <!--LayoutRoot is the root grid where all page content is placed--> <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="Transparent"> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Items}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding}" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding ElementName=LayoutRoot, Path=DataContext.Foo}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </StackPanel> public partial class MainPage : PhoneApplicationPage { public string Foo { get { return "the moon"; } } private int startIndex = 1; private IList<string> _data = new List<string>() { "foo", "bar", "baz" }; public IList<string> Items { get { return _data; } } // Constructor public MainPage() { InitializeComponent(); LayoutRoot.DataContext = this; } } This doesn't work; only the _data items are displayed. The following binding errors appear in the Debug output: System.Windows.Data Error: BindingExpression path error: 'Foo' property not found on 'foo' 'System.String' (HashCode=1502598398). BindingExpression: Path='DataContext.Foo' DataItem='System.Windows.Controls.Border' (HashCode=78299055); target element is 'System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock' (Name=''); target property is 'Text' (type 'System.String').. System.Windows.Data Error: BindingExpression path error: 'Foo' property not found on 'bar' 'System.String' (HashCode=696029481). BindingExpression: Path='DataContext.Foo' DataItem='System.Windows.Controls.Border' (HashCode=78298703); target element is 'System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock' (Name=''); target property is 'Text' (type 'System.String').. System.Windows.Data Error: BindingExpression path error: 'Foo' property not found on 'baz' 'System.String' (HashCode=696029489). BindingExpression: Path='DataContext.Foo' DataItem='System.Windows.Controls.Border' (HashCode=78298694); target element is 'System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock' (Name=''); target property is 'Text' (type 'System.String').. Do I have a syntax error somewhere? Update I'm aiming for something that looks like this: foo the moon bar the moon baz the moon Instead, all I'm getting is: foo bar baz

  • Prevent Apache from chunking gzipped content

    - by Bear
When using mod_deflate in Apache2, Apache will chunk gzipped content, setting the Transfer-encoding: chunked header. While this results in a faster download time, I cannot display a progress bar. If I handle the compression myself in PHP, I can gzip it completely first and set the Content-length header, so that I can display a progress bar to the user. Is there any way to change Apache's behavior, and have Apache set a Content-length header instead of chunking the response, so that I don't have to handle the compression myself?

  • What is this weird script I found on facebook?

    - by Mike Turley
Not so much a question to help my own programming, but I found this page on facebook with a cool illusion and a page that says "to see the real illusion, copy and paste this code into your address bar" and there is a script: http://pastebin.com/LQUVQ8hm What the hell is this? What would happen if I put it in my address bar, which I assume would be a very unwise idea? I am confused.

  • How to quickly parse a list of strings

    - by math
If I want to split a list of words separated by a delimiter character, I can use >>> 'abc, foo, bar'.split(',') ['abc', 'foo', 'bar'] But how to easily and quickly do the same thing if I also want to handle quoted-strings which can contain the delimiter character ? In: 'abc,"a string, with a comma","another, one"' Out: ['abc', 'a string, with a comma', 'another, one'] Related question: How can i parse a comma delimited string into a list (caveat)?

  • Can this be done in 1 line? [PHP]

    - by Angelo
    Can this be done in 1 line with PHP? Would be awesome if it could: $out = array("foo","bar"); echo $out[0]; Something such as: echo array("foo","bar")[0]; Unfortunately that's not possible. Would it be possible like this? So I can do this for example in 1 line: echo array(rand(1,100), rand(1000,2000))[rand(0,1)];

  • What is the result of this SQL query?

    - by Martin
I'm working on a mock exam paper at the moment, however I have no set of correct answers and I'm not sure what the correct answer of this SQL query is. Given a table: foo, bar a , 1 b , 3 a , 2 c , 1 and the query: SELECT foo, sum(bar) FROM table GROUP BY foo The two ways I can see this going are either: a 3 a 3 b 3 c 1 or a 3 b 3 c 1 Thanks.

  • What is the cleanest way to do a sort plus uniq on a Python list?

    - by knorv
Consider a Python list my_list containing ['foo', 'foo', 'bar']. What is the most Pythonic way to uniqify:ing and sorting and the list (think cat my_list | sort | uniq)? This is how I currently do it and while it works I'm sure there are better ways to do it. my_list = [] ... my_list.append("foo") my_list.append("foo") my_list.append("bar") ... my_list = set(my_list) my_list = list(my_list) my_list.sort()

  • Can IDL create a contour plot colorbar like this?

    - by Carthage
At the bottom of this image, you'll see a nice colorbar that matches the colors of the graph correctly: http://stribog.cc.umanitoba.ca/ceos/20100517_00z_prod/ I couldn't find anything that created a color bar with exactly the colors I wanted, it always seemed to involve a spectrum that included colors I didn't use. I have a vector of colors I use for my data. Is there I way I can use that vector to create a color bar with only those colors?
