  • Cannot render images locally with Sql Server 2005 Report Services SOAP service calls

    - by user289146
I am trying to render images from SSRS 2005 via the SOAP call. When the reports service is installed on the same server as my website, the images generated do not render in the page. However, when I connect to the reporting service URL from the same web code on a separate machine the images render just fine. Is there a dependency that I am missing to allow me to run the web and SSRS on the same box?

  • Devise not allowing active resource to access the services

    - by Saurabh Pandit
In my application there are two folders one for a rails application and another for a ruby application. In the ruby folder I have created a ruby file in which I have written code to access some model which is present in the rails application using active resource. Sample code is shown below : active_resource_example.rb require 'rubygems' require 'active_resource' class Website < ActiveResource::Base self.site = "http://localhost:3000/admin/" self.user = "user" self.password = "password" end websites = Website.find(:all) puts websites.inspect In my rails application I have used ActiveAdmin gem which uses devise for authentication. On rails Server I get the following result : Started GET "/admin/websites.json" for 192.168.1.37 at 2011-11-12 14:41:06 +0530 Processing by Admin::WebsitesController#index as JSON Completed in 43ms And on my terminal where I executed active_resource_example.rb, I got following error : user@user:~/Desktop$ ruby active_resource_example.rb /home/user/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p180/gems/activeresource-3.1.1/lib/active_resource/connection.rb:132:in `handle_response': Failed. Response code = 401. Response message = Unauthorized . Desperately need some solution to this issue.

  • Web Services: more frequent "small" calls, or less frequent "big" calls

    - by Klay
In general, is it better to have a web application make lots of calls to a web service getting smaller chunks of data back, or to have the web app make fewer calls and get larger chunks of data? In particular, I'm building a Silverlight app that needs to get large amounts of data back from the server in response to a query created by a user. Each query could return anywhere from a few hundred records to a few thousand. Each record has around thirty fields of mostly decimal-type data. I've run into the situation before where the payload size of the response exceeded the maximum allowed by the service. I'm wondering whether it's better (more efficient for the server/client/web service) to cut this payload vertically--getting all values for a single field with each call--or horizontally--getting batches of complete records with each call. Or does it matter?

I'm currently looking at the documentation but it would be nice to have some working code to pick apart and see how it all works together? I can't seem to find anything using google or in the iphone dev center.

  • Hosting WCF services

    - by Jayesh
Hi, I have been working on a Silverlight app that consumes a WCF service. [on Visual Studio] as a matter of simplicity I created a WCF service in the project itself [as-in I didnt host it in IIS, but let the build-in webdev server in VS do it for me] It works well, now I want to deploy it on IIS 7.0, can you tell me If i would need to host the service independently and then the remaining stuff or if I just publish the website, the service would be hosted too and the Silverlight client would be able to communicate with the service. Please help! Thanks

  • Consuming Web Services requiring Authentication from behind Proxy server

    - by Jan Petersen
Hi All, I've seen a number of post about Proxy Authentication, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a SharePoint Web Service consuming desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. The normal -dhttp.proxyHost ... settings does not seam to help any. But I have found that by creating a ProxySelector class and setting it as default, I can regain access to the authentication web service, but I still can't retrieve the list of web sites from the SharePoint server. It's almost as if the authentication I provide is going to the proxy rather than the SharePoint server. Anyone have any experience on how to make this work? I have put the source text java class files of a demo app up, showing the issue at the following urls (it's a bit to long even in the short demo form to post here). link text When running the code from a network behind a proxy server, I successfully retrieve the Authentication mode from the server, but the request for the Web Site list generates an exception originating at: com.sun.xml.internal.ws.transport.http.client .HttpClientTransport.readResponseCodeAndMessage(HttpClientTransport.java:201) The output from the source when no proxy is on the network is listed below: Successfully retrieved the SharePoint WebService response for Authentication SharePoint authentication method is: WINDOWS Calling Web Service to retrieve list of web site. Web Service call response: -------------- XML START -------------- <Webs xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/"> <Web Title="Collaboration Lab" Url="http://host.domain.com/collaboration"/> <Web Title="Global Data Lists" Url="http://host.domain.com/global_data_lists"/> <Web Title="Landing" Url="http://host.domain.com/Landing"/> <Web Title="SharePoint HelpDesk" Url="http://host.domain.com/helpdesk"/> <Web Title="Program Management" Url="http://host.domain.com/programmanagement"/> <Web Title="Project Site" Url="http://host.domain.com/Project Site"/> <Web Title="SharePoint Administration Tools" Url="http://host.domain.com/admin"/> <Web Title="Space Management Project" Url="http://host.domain.com/spacemgmt"/> </Webs> -------------- XML END -------------- Br Jan

  • Accessing HTTP status code while using WCF client for accessing RESTful services

    - by Hemant
Thanks to this answer, I am now able to successfully call a JSON RESTful service using a WCF client. But that service uses HTTP status codes to notify the result. I am not sure how I can access those status codes since I just receive an exception on client side while calling the service. Even the exception doesn't have HTTP status code property. It is just buried in the exception message itself. So the question is, how to check/access the HTTP status code of response when the service is called.

  • Code Signing Services

    - by bogdan
I'm developing a System Preference Pane that runs a background application. I'm planning on codesigning the background application and I'll be using the kill flag of codesign (http://gemma.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/codesign.1.html). From my understanding, this kill flag will not allow the background application to be run if it's signature doesn't match. My problem with this approach is that it doesn't provide any feedback to the user and, for somewhat reason, the application gets corrupted, it will refuse to launch without any information. I'd like to use the Code Signing Service from the System Preference Pane to check the validity of the background application. However, I couldn't find how to use it to check the validity of an external file. Is this possible using the Code Signing Service or should I NSTask codesign directly? My application is targeted for 10.6 so it doesn't matter which I use. Thank you!

  • Using MySQL as data source in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services

    - by coldilocks
Hi, I have installed the latest .net connector (http://www.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/), I can add MySQL databases as Data Sources, I can even browse through the data from Business Intelligence Studio. The problem is that I CANNOT create a datasource view, or if I do create one without tables, trying to add them after the fact gives me the same error. Specifically it looks like the data source view wizard tries to submit queries against the MySQL database using square brackets/braces, and the query bombs. I get an error message like: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '[my_db].[cheatType]' at line 2 So, in summary, has anyone been able to create a data source view using MySQL tables and, if so, can they please show me how this can be done. Thanks for any help!

  • NetBeans Web-Services Client Project - repeated WSDL parsing

    - by RedGrittyBrick
I created a new project thus ... File, New Project... Java, Java Application. Right-click project icon in "Projects" tree-view panel. Choose New, Web Service Client... Specify WSDL file e.g. ( ) Project (*) Local file D:\temp\Foo\Bar.wsdl ( ) WSDL URL [Set Proxy...] client-style JAX-WS [ ] Generate Dispatch code It parsed the WSDL and generated lots of java files. I created a main class and used Netbeans to insert a WS client call Now whenever I run my code (Desktop app), it again parses the WSDL (which doesn't ever change) and regenerates about 78 java files and compiles them. How do I stop Netbeans performing this uneccessary and time-consuming action?

  • Implementing website messaging services

    - by Alex
There's a website which currently has only web interfaces for all the users. However, new requirement has emerged which says that there is a need in providing an alternative interface for a certain group of website users who want to regularly receive pushed notifications(messages) that would inform them about new events(news) in their field of interest. What sort of interface would it be?Is it all about using a MOM(message-oriented middleware) like JMS and deploying it withing an application server on a website using publish/subscribe model? Is it the correct way how to meet these sort of requirements? And if it's not a web-based interface, would kind of interface would it be then for the users? Thanks

  • Networking not working in Windows 7 - "The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services"

    - by tog22
I have a homebuilt computer with a GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 motherboard with a Realtek RTL8111E LAN chip. Ethernet was working fine in Windows 7 until I reinstalled this OS, but now it's stopped, while still working in other OSes. I've tried reinstalling drivers from both the Gigabyte and Realtek sites to no avail; I've also plugged in and installed an Asus USB-N13 wifi dongle and this doesn't work oddly. How can I diagnose and fix this issue? In 'Network and Sharing Center' says "The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process" under the heading 'Unknown'. Following the advice at http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/130159-dependency-service-group-failed-start.html#post1122627 I've gone to 'Control Panel= Admin Tools= Services' and ensured the services listed at that URL are started (one - IIRC 'Come+ Event System' refused to start as user 'Local services' so I've had to set it to log on with the 'Local system account'... I suspect this may be part of the problem).

Preferred language is C# but C++ examples are fine too.

  • How do URL shortening services make money?

    - by Rakesh Juyal
Yesterday i got to know about one more URL shortening service Saf.li. I think there are hundreds of websites offering such service. I always wonder how do such sites make money? After all they need money to host their data and code. Also, i really don't understand why techcrunch said this:- http://techcrunch.com/2009/03/30/if-bitly-is-worth-8-million-tinyurl-is-worth-at-least-46-million/ Is there any one who can explain me this?

  • WCF REST based services authentication schemes

    - by FlySwat
I have a simple authentication scheme for a set of semi-public REST API's we are building: /-----------------------\ | Client POST's ID/Pass | | to an Auth Service | \-----------------------/ [Client] ------------POST----------------------> [Service/Authenticate] | /-------------------------------\ | Service checks credentials | [Client] <---------Session Cookie------- | and generates a session token | | | in a cookie. | | \-------------------------------/ | [Client] -----------GET /w Cookie -------------> [Service/Something] | /----------------------------------\ | Client must pass session cookie | | with each API request | | or will get a 401. | \----------------------------------/ This works well, because the client never needs to do anything except receive a cookie, and then pass it along. For browser applications, this happens automatically by the browser, for non browser applications, it is pretty trivial to save the cookie and send it with each request. However, I have not figured out a good approach for doing the initial handshake from browser applications. For example, if this is all happening using a AJAX technique, what prevents the user from being able to access the ID/Pass the client is using to handshake with the service? It seem's like this is the only stumbling block to this approach and I'm stumped.

  • How to create a VS2010 extension that uses Language Services

    - by Hades32
Creating extensions got much easier with Vs2010, but this seems not to be the case for everything... My aim: I wnat to make method calls and property uses of STATIC classes ITALIC. (Just like Eclipse and Java) I think I need to talk to the C# Language Service for this information, but searching for "Language Service" just yields results on how to CREATE one, not how to use one of the existing ones... To get this question a little more general: How do I get information about properties of the code (static/visibility etc) for using it in a VSX?

At first glance it seems like I'm getting alot of brief blog entries with links to the SP2009 conference or to the above video.

  • List service and services status under Win-7

    - by Ronaldo Junior
I have a service monitor app that monitors the status of three other servers app - you know those kind of green, red status stuff, start, stop, etc. The problem is that it shows the wrong state in Windows 7 even if the user is the administrator. The start, stop buttons are disabled and the install button enabled, the status color is grey which is also wrong. The start button should be enabled with the service status showing green - the apps are running. If the application is run with the setting "run as administrator" then it behaves normally. The application is written in Delphi 7 and works perfectly in other versions of Windows. This line of code: OpenSCManager(PChar(sMachine),Nil,SC_MANAGER_ALL_ACCESS) always return 0 under Win7, causing the problem. Any ideas and if possible, any workaround apart from "run as administrator". Regards Ronaldo
