  • ajax page works in development (vs2010) but does a full postback on production win2k8R2

    Hi all, I have a stupid simple page. I've got a panel and a button. Clicking the button either hides or displays the panel. That much works. I added in a script manager control and update panel - put all the page contents in the updatepanel/contenttemplate When i run this under vs2010 and click the button, the page does NOT post back - the panel just appears or disappears without the whole page refreshing, which is what i wanted. I upload this to my IIS7.5 server and the page is posting back/whole page is refreshing when i click the button. Do i need to configure anything on the server to enable ajax? thanks

  • How do I secure a folder used to let users upload files?

    I have a folder in my web server used for the users to upload photos using an ASP page. Is it safe enough to give IUSR write permissions to the folder? Must I secure something else? I am afraid of hackers bypassing the ASP page and uploading content directly to the folder. I'm using ASP classic and IIS6 on Windows 2003 Server. The upload is through HTTP, not FTP.   • Prompts for windows authentication when viewing a page in Web site

    Hello All, When i try to view a PARTICULAR page in my web site, it prompts for user name and password. Irrespective of providing proper user name/password and clicking OK or directly clicking Cancel button, the page is getting loaded properly. I am not sure why the authentication screen appears!!! It happens only for that particular page. Initially I thought it could be with file permission but copy pasted another page (which works fine) and renaming it doesn't solve the problem. Thoughts pl. EDIT I copied the source from the browser for that particular page and saved it as HTML. When i try to open the HTML file, it prompts for authentication.

  • the breakpoint will not currently be hit no symbols loaded

    I want to debug on the customer's machine (Windows Server 2003) to track a problem, and out product is based on .NET 2.0. I want to use DbgCLR.exe to debug a file AAA.dll, what I did is: install .NET 2.0 SDK on the customer's machine (to get the DbgCLR.exe) copy the symbol file AAA.pdb to the same directory with AAA.dll get the source file for AAA.dll the AAA.dll will be loaded by w3wp.exe, so in the DbgCLR Tools-Attach to Process, then I choose w3wp.exe File-Open-File open the source file and add a breakpoint in the function which will be callled but the breakpoint seems do no work because there is an warning icon on it and says : the breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document. On my computer (Windows XP) which has the debug version of whole source code, I did nearly the same thing as above but the different is: I attached aspnet_wp.exe to do the debug and it works What should I do to let it work on the customer's machine?

    Hi all, I just set up Mercurial on our main webserver, hosting repositories via hgwebdir.cgi. The problem I'm having now is when I run hg push from my local machine to the server's repository, it takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to push a very small directory, with only a single changeset. Is it possible that I've set something up wrong? I keep getting HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway. Thanks!

  • 505 (HTTP version not supported) sent to client when ASP.NET application attempts to access WCF service

    We have created a DLL to facilitate access of a 3rd-party WCF Service. This DLL works fine in a Windows Application on our test machines, but when we try to use it in an ASP.NET application on our web server, our web server returns a 505 HTTP version not supported error to the client. To clarify, the setup is Client-Server-WCF Service. Using Fiddler, I can tell that our server is not making requests to the WCF Service. The calls are wrapped in a try/catch block, but no Exception occurs. Instead, as soon as the call to the service is attempted, our server returns a 505 error to the client and terminates execution. We are using clientCertificate authentication over HTTPS with serviceCertificate certificateValidationMode set to "None". Thanks

  • How to deploy and secure an ASP.NET web app to be available to internal and outside users?

    My company has several web applications written in ASP.NET. We need to make these applications available to Intranet users as well as authenticated external users. Most of the features are the same for the two groups, though there are some extra features available to the Internal users. The two different sets of users would use a slightly different security setup... our internal people will be authenticated using LDAP against Exchange, whereas the external users will have accounts in SQL Server. What is the best approach for deploying our web apps? Should we deploy 2 copies to different servers, one configured for an Intranet and one for outside users? Or is there a better way to share the code between the 2 servers, yet have the flexibility to use different web.config settings for security??

    I have a number of Windows servers at work that are used for staging web sites for clients while they are being created. I wanted to start using versioning on them so that when we work with outside vendors on a project, if/when they overwrite my work, I'd like to be able to go back and get the version before. My question is that I think I'm not looking for the correct terms in searching for information, but what kind of resources are there to learn how to install the software for versioning or a site to help me get started.     I am trying to deploy my ASP.NET Application which is currently running on Windows Server 2003 32bit and IIS6 to a new Server running Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS7. My application uses ASP.NET version 4.0 and is working fine on 2003 machine. My problem is: I have deployed the application and it is working fine except that the .flv video is not playing in browser I have added all required mime settings but still no luck when i try to run the video i don't get any error just a blank screen showing no video. Same configuration is working on previous machine and the new server is also able to play the video when run from the earlier machine. Please if you have any solution help me out.

  • Retrieve web user's Identity outside of request scope

    I have an ASP.NET app that logs Audit reports using nHibernate's IPreUpdateListener. In order to set the current user in the Listener events, I was using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(). This works fine when debugging on my machine, but when I move it to the staging server, I'm getting the ASP.NET process credentials, not the requesting user. In the ASP.NET page, I can use Request.LogonUserIdentity (which works fine since I'm using integrated authentication), but how do I reference this user directly without having to pass it directly to my event? I don't want to have to pass this info through the pipeline because it really doesn't belong in the intermediate events/calls.

    I have an Asp.NET 3.5 application with security/authentication. I have a second application (built using GWT and running on Windows Tomcat) running on a different machine. I need to make the second application available to the user via a link generated from the .NET application. This part is easy, I have constructed the link in the asp.net page and the user can click on it to start working in the GWT/Tomcat session. My question is this... How do I set it up so that the Tomcat/GWT application is Only Accessible via the link in my asp.NET application? I don't want the user to be able to copy the link from my asp.net page and then share that with someone else who is not authenticated within my asp.net application.
