• NSRunAlertPanel not working in Tiger, though it works on Leopard and Snow Leopard

  I'm currently using NSRunAlertPanel to display a dialog. It works perfectly in Leopard and Snow Leopard. In Tiger, it also works except for the icon. In Leopard and Snow Leopard, the icon I used for the App is displayed on the left side of the strings. This is the expected behavior. However, in Tiger, there is a big margin on the left side of the strings, the icon is missing but the gap for the icon is there. Here's how i used the code: NSRunAlertPanel(@"My Application", @"My Application's string contents", @"OK", nil, nil); I really need to know why this happens. I did not add any code for the icon to appear in leopard and snow, but it's there. Thanks.

However, the vertical scrollbar causes the inner width to be smaller, which causes the largest child to wrap. Is there a way to get the parent to grow to the width of the largest child + the width of the scroll bar? I've tried every margin trick I know, but nothing.

  In order to follow correct web standards, I've tried to layout image and div inline. In orde to achieve that - I've used display:inline property. But then I experienced the following issue: image renders from the center line, and div doesn't respect height parameter set to it. I've tried using line-height parameter, but that didn't give any useful results. I've also tried various combinations with setting margin/padding to some values or to auto, or replacing div with span, or wrapping img and div with additional divs. I've managed to achieve desired result by using position:absolute, but that doesn't help in cases where I want to use centered/relative positioning of the whole component... Any clues or ideas or troubleshooting hints?   newbie question, please forgive... I'm developing a Wpf UserControl that will eventually be bound to a business object. The usercontrol is little more than a series of laid out TextBlocks, and perhaps (later) an image or two. As I'm laying out the usercontrol, I can put dummy text into all the TextBlocks so I can see what the usercontrol will look like, but as soon as I change the text property to contain the Binding information: <TextBlock Margin="0,12.8,42,0" Name="lblLastName" FontSize="8" Height="19" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay, Path=LastName}"/> Then I can no longer see the textbox, or any "placeholder" text. This makes it very difficult to adjust the location and sizes of all the controls on the UserControl. In WinFormas programming, you could set binding information independently of the Text property, so you could at least see the Placeholder text during design time development. It's going to be pretty hard to visually arrange a bunch of invisible TextBlocks! What's the standard solution for this?

• Weird Scrolling Issue Using UITableView

  I am a working UINavigationController pushing two different UITableViews on and off the stack. All of my functionality is working correctly except scrolling. When either table is scrolled above the top row, or below the bottom row, it stays there exposing the margin above/below the table. I am looking for the table to "bounce" back so that only the table is visible and not the white space area beyond - just like any other iPhone app. One of my UITableViews is being loaded by NIB and the other is being created programatically - both of which have the exact same result. I have tried all the bounce and scrolling settings in the Nib, but nothing seems to work. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? • Clipping the caret in a C# program

  I'm creating a WinForms control in C# (using VS2008, .net 3.5) which allows text input. I've imported the necessary Win32 API functions from User32.dll for displaying the normal Windows caret and these are all working fine, but it's not displaying exactly how I'd like it. Text is displayed on the control with a blank border and I use Graphics.SetClip() to leave this margin clear. I want the caret to be clipped to the same region, but since I don't paint it and there's no obvious API function to set a clipping region, I can't see any way of doing this. Have I missed anything obvious? The caret is clipped inside the control in which it is drawn. I'm therefore aware that one solution could be to place the text in a separate sub-control with no border. However, if there's a simpler way than redesigning this part of the control, I'd like to look for that first. Thanks in advance for any help!

• Setting a breakpoint in a T4 template

  I'm trying to debug the execution of a T4 template in Visual Studio 2008. All the information I'm finding on debugging T4 templates in Visual Studio 2008 say that you can set a breakpoint (red dot) in the template as if it were a regular code file. I have the Clarius T4 code highlighter installed, so my T4 template is colored, but I can't set a breakpoint. When I click in the margin nothing happens. I've tried Debugger.Break(), and it launches a new instance of VS.NET, but it can't load the code from my template. I get a dialog that says "There is no source code available for the current location." This happens if I have the same project loaded in the another instance of if I spin up a new instance. What gives?

• ScrollTo - toggle between min-height/fixed height

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the ScrollTo plugin, but I can't seem to get it working properly. I tried to view the source at the site I linked to but I'm trying to achieve something slightly different. I would like the window pane to change size according to the content (so the height would increase for longer text and would decrease for shorter text). However, when I supply a min-height (as opposed to a fixed height), the pane automatically changes to the maximum height when the page is loaded. So if I have something set to margin-top:1000px;, the pane will be 1000px in size regardless of what tab is currently displaying. The fix would be to use height instead, but that would mean that the window won't expand in height and the user would have to scroll. I got my code from viewing the source on the ScrollTo page, but I also tried this tutorial code. Thanks for any help

  I am writing code that will populate the Margin, Padding and BorderThickness properties of classes in the System.Windows.Documents namespace. Each of these properties accepts a value in the form of a System.Windows.Thickness, which is a struct. However, I wish to associate some additional data with each of these property assignments, which may subsequently be retrieved by my code. If Thickness were a class, I would inherit from it and define properties in the subclass to store my additional data items. But since it is a struct, inheritance is not possible. Is there any practical way to achieve this, while maintaining type-compatibility with the properties I am populating? Thanks for your ideas, Tim

• get height on a block of latex output

  Hello, I am trying to determine how to get the height on a block of latex output (not the whole document, and not the code..but rather a block of output). As an example of what I am trying to accomplish: i were to have the latex code $\sum_{i=0}^\infty \frac{1}{n}\infty$ \newline hello world \newline hello universe its output would be something like 2 inches high. Of course, the height of the above block of text is dependent on a number of things-font, margin size, etc, as changing any of these parameters changes how many inches that output would be. Is there a command/package that does this? Thanks in advance! Georg Raba
