  I have created MS Access Database using C# ADOX library. I have created one table with several columns. What I want to achieve is when I insert date in one column, the date format should be YYYY-MM-DD and not MM-DD-YYYY. I know its just display format, but I want to access the property which we set when we open access table in design mode, and for column with date data type, set format as Custom (YYYY-MM-DD). I want this to be set at runtime while creating table only. I wanted to know what should be property name that I should use in order to access and set the format property of column?

• Left Join works with table but fails with query

Why does this left join query not give the same result for a query and a table? And how can i get the right results using a query in the left join?

  I need to document a MS-Access application that was created, developed and maintained completely by a power-user over 10 years. This is an interesting situation because what they want is a manual so that a future developer can come in without prior domain knowledge and make changes to the frontend or the backend in a timely manner. There are a few questions on my mind for this little project: What is a good manual design creating application? Microsoft Word doesn't quite cut it. What kind of things would you, the developer, need to know in order to make changes to things like forms, reports, tables or other Access objects? Anything else I missed? Any pitfalls?

  I want to iterate over all rows of a MS-Word mail merge data source and extract the relevant data into an XML.   I am trying to set up error handling for a MS-Access application. The standard method to do this seems to be with an On Error statement in each subroutine/function. It seems simpler to me to use the Form_Error function to catch all the runtime errors in that form as opposed to an On Error statement for each sub/function called by an event on that form. (Obviously, for code in modules, there is no Form_Error function and therefore the only method is the On Error statement) What are the pros and cons of using On Error vs Form_Error?

  Hi, I am using MS Access as a database and using c#, .net for updating some records in it. But it is giving error saying "No value given for one or more required parameters." There are 5 colums in Table and I want to update only 2, for that I have written the query like "update User_DTL set user_role_id = '" + _UserRole + "', auth_id ='" + _authId + "'" + " WHERE Id = '" + _Id + "' "; where _UserRole, _authId, _Id are strings. What may be the error. Do I need to give every parameter in update statement or there is some other way. Thanks

• .NET make a copy of an embedded file resource to the local drive

  Hi, i'm new to the realm to working with Files in .NET I'm creating a WPF application in VB.NET with the 3.5 Framework. (If you provide an example in C#, that's perfectly fine.) In my project I have a Template for an MS Access database. My desired behavior is that when the users clicks File--New, they can create a new copy of this template, give it a filename, and save it to their local directory. The database already has the tables and some starting data needed to interface with my application (a user-friendly data editor) I'm thinking the approach is to include this "template.accdb" file as a resource in the project, and write it to a file somehow at runtime? Any guidance will be very, very appreciated. Thanks!

• Double Inner Join generates unexpected error

  In my database I have three tables: Users: UserID (Auto Numbering), UserName, UserPassword and a few other unimportant fields. PrivateMessages: MessageID (Auto Numbering), SenderID and a few other fields defining the message content. MessageStatus: MessageID, ReceiverID, MessageWasRead (Boolean) What I need is a query to which I input a user's id and I get all the private messages he has received. In addition, I also need to receive each message's sender UserName. For this I wrote the following query: SELECT Users.*, PrivateMessages.*, MessageStatus.* FROM PrivateMessages INNER JOIN Users ON PrivateMessages.SenderID = Users.UserID INNER JOIN MessageStatus ON PrivateMessages.MessageID = MessageStatus.MessageID WHERE MessageStatus.ReceiverID=[@userid]; But for some reason when I try saving it in my Access database, I get the following error (translated to English by me, since my office is in a different language): Syntax error (missing operator) at expression: "PrivateMessages.SenderID = Users.UserID INNER JOIN MessageStatus ON PrivateMessages.MessageID = MessageStatus.MessageI". Any ideas what could cause this? Thanks.

• Access is re-writing - and breaking - my query!

  I have a query in MS Access (2003) that makes use of a subquery. The subquery part looks like this: ...FROM (SELECT id, dt, details FROM all_recs WHERE def_cd="ABC-00123") AS q1,... And when I switch to Table View to verify the results, all is OK. Then, I wanted the result of this query to be printed on the page header for a report (the query returns a single row that is page-header stuff). I get an error because the query is suddenly re-written as: ...FROM [SELECT id, dt, details FROM all_recs WHERE def_cd="ABC-00123"; ] AS q1,... So it's Ok that the round brackets are automatically replaced by square brackets, Access feels it needs to do that, fine! But why is it adding the ; into the subquery, which causes it to fail? I suppose I could just create new query objects for these subqueries, but it seems a little silly that I should have to do that.

  Hi, I am using MS-Access 2003. I have three tables containing values of w,Q and L. In the Q table I have three fields: country_name, ISIC_code, and Q value. In the L table, there are three fields, country_name, ISIC_code, and L value. And in the w table there are two fields; country_name and w value. Country_names, and ISIC_code might be different for each table. What I want to do is create a new table with the values b(j)=w(i)L(ij)/Q(ij), where i is the country and j is the ISIC_code. So first I will check if the country name and ISIC_code are the same in L and Q tables. If they are equal I will calculate L/Q and then multiply this with w value of the same country if it exists. I appreciate any help.

  I just had an interesting experience with a startup form in MS Access 2010. I designed a login form and when I thought I was done I set my startup form to be the login form I'd just created. I then closed Access and reopened it but my login form did not appear. Instead the whole GUI was locked. I cannot click on anything. My form was working during my tests before I set it as a startup form and reloaded Access. How can I either remove my form as a startup object or get the use of my GUI back?

Containers are objects that are stored in specific locations each location and container are specified by ID values. • Character problem at displaying the result of a query

  I am not good at jsp but I wondered what can cause such a problem when every other strings are displayed well: a JSP file queries information of people by their name at Contact (MS Exchange). the query returns the full info of the person; and the first, last names are printed. Last names with apostrophes (Ex: O'reilly) aren't displayed at all. what can be possible solutions? Thanks in advance P.S.   I've looked around and can't quite grasp the whole answer to this SQL query question needed to extract data from an MS Access 2000 table.   I want to write an update query in MS Access 2003. I have a field called product_code. If product code is (between 110 and 752) OR (between 910 and 1124), I want to update product code=15. If product code is (between 1210 and 1213) OR (1310 and 1423) I want to assign product code=16. If product code is some other value I will assign 18, and so on I don't think I can use CASE statement for this since I have many values to be updated. I tried to use multiple UPDATE/SET statements but it didn't work.

But when doing the other three operations, I don't seem to get any errors, but the actions are not reflected on to the DB. Please help...   Do you remember the venerable old Microsoft Query by Form (QBF) VBA example from back in the day link that recommended that you delete an existing query and then recreate it dynamically?: On Error Resume Next db.QueryDefs.Delete ("qryResults") On Error GoTo 0 Set qdf = db.CreateQueryDef("qryResults", "SELECT p.*... Why not just change the SQL property of the querydef object? qdf.SQL = "SELECT p.*... I am wondering if anyone knows why the MS engineers wrote an example that suggests that you delete and then recreate a query instead of simply changing the SQL property? I would guess that the act of deleting and recreating objects over time could contribute to corruption and bloating in your front end, not to mention changing the SQL property is so much simpler. Does anyone have more insight into this?

• Deploying Office 2010 with MDT 2012 - Multiple Customisaton Files?

  I'm in the process of setting up a deployment share for Windows 7 and Office 2010 Pro Plus, using MDT 2012. My question involves the customisation of the Office 2010 install. I've imported Office into MDT and I've successfully created a custom MSP file to tailor the settings to our business. However, I need to have a number of different customisations for different groups of users. For instance, our laptop users need Outlook Anywhere configured whereas desktop users do not. Basically - what's the best way of doing this? Do I have to import Office into MDT more than once, each instance using a different MSP, then have the task sequence select the appropriate instance? It's just that this method seems extremely wasteful so I'm thinking that there's a more intelligent way to do it? Or am I coming at this from the wrong direction? Should I be looking at Group Policy to tweak the Outlook settings in this instance? I'm just aware that there are certain things that OCT can do that group policy cannot, so I would have thought that there must be something I can do in MDT. I'm new to MDT so any pointers will be apprectiated. Thanks in advance.

  I am trying to get to grips with MS Dynamics CRM 2011. I have have the beta installed on a VM and things look pretty good - some great new features etc. However I am getting an exception when trying to connect to the new XRMServices (updated 2011 WCF web services) Exception: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/organame/XRMServices/2011/Organization.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation. The exception message is: 'System.ServiceModel.Description.UseRequestHeadersForMetadataAddressBehavior'. This collection only supports one instance of each type. Parameter name: item. ---> System.ArgumentException: The value could not be added to the collection, as the collection already contains an item of the same type: 'System.ServiceModel.Description.UseRequestHeadersForMetadataAddressBehavior'. This collection only supports one instance of each type. Parameter name: item The only reference to this exception I gave found suggests that it is caused by multiple bindings configured in IIS, which in my case I did have, but the problem persists even after removing them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
