  • Change library load order at run time (like LD_PRELOAD but during execution)

    How do I change the library a function loads from during run time? For example, say I want to replace the standard printf function with something new, I can write my own version and compile it into a shared library, then put "LD_PRELOAD=/my/library.so" in the environment before running my executable. But let's say that instead, I want to change that linkage from within the program itself. Surely that must be possible... right?

    I'm using ECJ with Java. I have an army of individuals who I all want to have the same brain. Basically, I'd like to evolve the brains using GP. I want things like "if-on-enemy-territory" and "if-sense-target" for if statements and "go-home" or "move-randomly" or "shoot" for terminals. However, these statements need to be full executable Java code. How can I do this with ECJ?

  • ListView slow performance

    I've created a list of recipes using Listview/customcursoradapter. A custom layout includes a photo for the recipe , Now I've some problems with the performance of viewing and scrolling the Listview although it has only 10 records (Target is 150). sometimes i get this error java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget , I've tried to implement the Async task but i failed to do it. Is there any way i can overcome this problem? Your help is highly appreciated !!   • Modifying text files and executing programs with command line parameters in c# or c++ on Linux

    I have a need to create a utility in Suze Linux. The utility will make modifications to some text files, and then use the information in those text files to program a device in the computer using a different executable which accepts command line parameters. I am fluent in c#, but have never worked with Linux. Should I take the time to learn Gnu C++ to do this, or install Mono? How would I execute the programming utility and pass it command line parameters?

    As you all know, when you build a project with an app.config file it gets copied to the bin directory and renamed $(targetFileName).config. Is it possible for it to be called something else? For example if my executable is called myApplication.exe, can I have the config file called settings.config as opposed to myApplication.exe.config? Cheers

  • connecting clients to server with emulator on different computers

    I am writing an application that communicates using sockets. I have a server running on one android emulator on a computer, then i have 2 other clients running on android emulators on 2 other computers. I am trying to get the 2 clients to connect to the server. This works when i run the server and clients on the same computer, but when i attempt to do this on the same wifi network and on separate computers it gives me the following error. The client and server code is posted below. A lot is stripped out just to show the important stuff. Also, after the server starts i telnet into the server and run these commands redir add tcp:5000:6000 (i have also tried without doing the redir but it still says the same thing). Then i start the clients and get the error. Thanks for the help! Both the 5000 port and 6000 port are open on my router.   • Is it possible to generate a XSL-FO template from a PDF?

    Given a PDF document, is it possible to generate a XSL-FO (FOP) template? Obviously, this would be a one-time thing - the generated template would just be a starting point for creating a proper template that pulls in the appropriate data. For me, the ideal tool for doing so would be a Java-based one and should be executable from the command line or through an ANT task. Failing that, it would be something that runs on Linux and MacOS X.

  • Visual Studio Generating Code in Release mode

    I am using Visual Studio to compile some C++ Code. When I compile my program in Debug mode it works perfectly, but when I try compiling it in Release mode, VS halts when Generating Code (ie: took 20 mins and still didn't finish). After I forced VS to stop the build process, the executable generated was huge 2MB while it should be about 304KB. Please can you help figure this out. How should I setup the configuration parameters for Release mode to work? Thanks,

    (I am running Linux Ubuntu 9.10, so the extension for an executable is executablefile.out) I am just getting into modular programming (programming with multiple files) in C and I want to know how to compile multiple files in a single makefile.     I ran ldd command on an executable created by Open MPI. It shows a reference to libpthread.so Using LD_PRELOAD variable I created my own implementation of pthread_create, but from the it output it seems that MPI implementation is not calling pthread_create as I had expected. Why does ldd show pthread so file in output if it is not being used? does Open MPI not use a separate MPI thread for every node to implement the functionality?
