  • WCF Client - Best Practise

    I just wanted to hear your Opinion about a WCF Client implementation. I have an Server that provides several services like SecurityManager. This service is defined in the Interface ISecurityManager and implemented in the Class SecurityManager. So far everything is fine. On the Client side I want to implement the services calls via a seperated Class. My question is whether I do this also in an SecurityManager Class which implements the same ISecurityManager Interface? What is here the best practise? Thanks.

    Hi guys, Recently I've being given a chance to develop a PMS (Practice Management System) software for a small physiotherapy clinic. I'm a computer science student and my course is predominately told on Linux. However, my client runs all their computers on vista or Windows 7. My ideas are to develop the client front end in Visual C# and access a central postgresql server. I'm a beginner in Windows Programming so I'm after advice on best practice on implement user rights and access levels in C# (WPF or Windows FORM). I've had a look into Credential class in Visual C# and access control list but please share your thoughts. I'm probably way over my head on this but this is my first commercial project so I'm keen to test the waters. Cheers Ian

    Friends I have install a .net window application exe at client machine and its database in sql server 2000. For Exe I install .net framework and other support software and for DB i install sql server 2000 and Create Database over there and connect it. Working Properly But now client change Xp to window7. I search for installation of SQL Server 2000 , but its not working over there. So what i did, i send the MDF file of database with exe application and make connection string and its also working. Now i change something in DB , and trying to update .mdf file but its not reflecting the new one mdf its getting the old one. i am Stuck...... am i did any wrong ? because its difficult for me to fix. OR i want to know what is the efficient way of use of SQL Server 2000 database on window7 or any else solution is there? Please help me...

  • What is the target color profile in Image.FromFile?

    I am curious what the useEmbeddedColorManagement parameter in System.Drawing.Image.FromFile actually does. This parameter directory corresponds to a GDI+ parameter in the same method of the same class. So debugging .NET source does not lead anywhere. If my understanding of color profiles is correct, a color profile is basically a mapping which describes how particular RGB triples (or CMYK or something else) map into the so called Profile Connection Space (CIELAB or CIEXYZ). Now, if I open an image with embedded color in .NET setting useEmbeddedColorManagement to true, my experience is I get an image whose RGB values are not exactly the same as the original values in the file, i.e. is transformed. Since the original image was an RGB and the new is also an RGB, there must have been a transformation from the embedded color profile to a Profile Connection Space and the back to RGB. The thing which I don’t understand is what is the target color system? Is it some default Windows color profile? Is the current monitor profile? Is it sRGB?

  • Metro UsernameToken Policy

    I created a web services client prototype using api's available in weblogic 10.3. I've been told I need to use Metro 2.0 instead (it's already being used for other projects). The problem I have encounter is that the WSDL does not include any Security Policy information but a UsernameToken is required for each method call. In weblogic I was able to write my own policy xml file and instantiate my service with it (see below), however I can not seem to figure out how to do the same using Metro.     How do you cache an aspx page call on the client? The aspx page returns an asset and looks like this: http://srv-edu-build/edumatic3/dev/RetrieveBlob.aspx?assetId=31809&assetFileId=9823 We have tried with Output Cache, with caching in the code behind, but the only result we get is server side caching (by IIS7). In the header of the response cache-control is set to public and expiration time is set (to 14800 as set in output cache profile).

  • Is there a way that WCF service can know which machine the call comes from?

    Hi, I have a WCF service and without changing any code on the client side, is there a way that I can know the detail information of the caller, such as the MachineName, and ApplicationName? Basically, I cannot change the client code to pass those pieces of information over. I tried to use System.Web.HttpContext on the server side to track this information, but HttpContext.Current is NULL. I guess that is not the proper usage of it. Any suggestion? Thanks Sarah

    We have server on Python and client + web service on Ruby. That works only if file from URL is less than 800 k. It seems like "socket.puts data" in a client works, but "output = socket.gets" - not. I think problem is in a Python part. For big files tests run "Connection reset by peer". Is it buffer size variable by default somewhere in a Python?

I can point out why it is really bad: Inextricable tie between server code and client code. Can render client code un-reusable. But sometimes, it just seems to make sense. And isn't it kinda sorta interesting? I guess the question is, is writing server code that produces JavaScript code a really bad practice, or "does everyone do it"?

  • IIS: 404 error on every file in a virtual directory.

    I am trying to write my first WCF service for IIS 6.0. I followed the instructions on MSDN. I created the virtual directory, I can browse the directory fine but anything I click (even a sub-folder in that folder) gives me a 404 error. What am I missing that I can not access any files or folders? Any logs or whatnot you need just tell me where to find them in the comments and I will post them. I now know the why, I still don't know the how on how to fix it.

  • Redmine git integration - issue in accessing git from redmine but not from external git client

    I have setup redmine integration with apache as described in the redmine documentation. I have a /git path accessible with auth and /git-private accessible only to redmine. When I clone the repository through /git path, I get the up-to-date repo. But when I try to view it in redmine repo viewer, I get a 404 "The entry or revision was not found in the repository." error. Trying to clone using the git-private url in the redmine box gives a bare repository though it is the same repo as the one cloned by the /git path. I have enabled RedmineGitSmartHttp in the /git path. What could be the issue here?
