  • Squid Proxy: url_regex acl is not working?

    - by bharathi
I am using squid proxy 3.1 in ubuntu machine. I want to allow only urls matching our pattern through our proxy server. I configured acl like below. Acl for dstdomain is working fine. If i access any url besides .zmedia.com , I got proxy connection refused. But the url_regex is not working. What i am trying here is. Allow only request from ".zmedia.com" domain and the request url should be in "/blog" context. # # Recommended minimum configuration: # acl manager proto cache_object acl localhost src 127.0.0.1/32 ::1 acl to_localhost dst 127.0.0.0/8 ::1 acl urlwhitelist url_regex -i ^http(s)://([a-zA-Z]+).zmedia.com/blog/.*$ acl allowdomain dstdomain .zmedia.com acl Safe_ports port 80 8080 8500 7272 # Example rule allowing access from your local networks. # Adapt to list your (internal) IP networks from where browsing # should be allowed acl SSL_ports port 443 acl Safe_ports port 80 # http acl Safe_ports port 21 # ftp acl Safe_ports port 443 # https acl Safe_ports port 70 # gopher acl Safe_ports port 210 # wais acl Safe_ports port 1025-65535 # unregistered ports acl Safe_ports port 280 # http-mgmt acl Safe_ports port 488 # gss-http acl Safe_ports port 591 # filemaker acl Safe_ports port 777 # multiling http acl SSL_ports port 7272 # multiling http acl CONNECT method CONNECT # # Recommended minimum Access Permission configuration: # # Only allow cachemgr access from localhost http_access allow manager localhost http_access deny manager http_access deny !allowdomain http_access allow urlwhitelist http_access allow CONNECT SSL_ports http_access deny CONNECT !SSL_ports # Deny requests to certain unsafe ports http_access deny !Safe_ports # Deny CONNECT to other than secure SSL ports http_access deny CONNECT !SSL_ports # We strongly recommend the following be uncommented to protect innocent # web applications running on the proxy server who think the only # one who can access services on "localhost" is a local user #http_access deny to_localhost # # INSERT YOUR OWN RULE(S) HERE TO ALLOW ACCESS FROM YOUR CLIENTS # # Example rule allowing access from your local networks. # Adapt localnet in the ACL section to list your (internal) IP networks # from where browsing should be allowed http_access allow localhost # And finally deny all other access to this proxy http_access deny all # Squid normally listens to port 3128 http_port 3128 # We recommend you to use at least the following line. hierarchy_stoplist cgi-bin ? # Uncomment and adjust the following to add a disk cache directory. #cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 100 16 256 # Leave coredumps in the first cache dir coredump_dir /var/spool/squid append_domain .zmedia.com # Add any of your own refresh_pattern entries above these. refresh_pattern ^ftp: 1440 20% 10080 refresh_pattern ^gopher: 1440 0% 1440 refresh_pattern -i (/cgi-bin/|\?) 0 0% 0 refresh_pattern . 0 20% 4320 Please correct me , If i did anything wrong?

  • Tomcat and IIS 7 both on different ip's and different ports

    - by n00b
I have Tomcat and IIS 7 installed together on a Windows 2008 server. The machine has two IPs (134.133.1.1 and 134.133.2.2). I want Tomcat to handle 134.133.1.1, on port 80, and IIS to handle both 134.133.2.2, on port 80 AND 134.133.1.1, on port 443, but can't seem to get the last two together (I can get one or the other by themselves on IIS, along with the first IP address on Tomcat). I have configured Tomcat to successfully listen to ip 134.133.1.1, on port 80 with this configuration; <Connector port="80" protocol="HTTP/1.1" address="134.133.1.1" connectionTimeout="20000" redirectPort="8443" /> I also have a site configured in IIS bound to ip 134.133.1.1, on port 443 (SSL). When I turn on IIS, after Tomcat, I can reach both 134.133.1.1:80 (Tomcat) and 134.133.1.1:443 (IIS) successfully (as desired). The problem now comes when I want to introduce a new site via IIS, at the new ip address. In IIS I have setup a new site at IP 134.133.2.2, port 80. I can not start the site. The event log shows this error; Unable to bind to the underlying transport for [::]:80. The IP Listen-Only list may contain a reference to an interface which may not exist on this machine. The data field contains the error number. I think this is because IIS 7 tries to listen to port 80 on all IPs, and it cant because Tomcat is taking port 80 for 134.133.1.1. From reading, the resolution is to specify the IP address you want IIS to bind on port 80. The problem is, when I add 134.133.2.2 to the iplisten list, then I get a 404 when I try navigating to 134.133.1.1:443. I assume this is because IIS is no longer listening to ANY port on 134.133.1.1. How do I resolve this such that IIS will return both sites? EDIT: Per request my IIS binding for site A is 134.133.2.2 on port 80 (http) and 134.133.2.2 on port 443. For site B in IIS, the binding is 134.133.1.1 on port 443 (https). Note the IPs in this example are just for example purposes, but consistent with my setup.

  • LACP : Cisco ASA 5515 & Switch ProCurve 2920

    - by user979276
I've two ASAs 5515 connected in failover Active/Stand by (on Gi0/5) My two ASAs are connected to two Switch ProCurve 2920 to have HA if something happens. So I plug something like that (don't pay attention to the arrows) : So one the ASA, I created a Port-Channel like that : interface GigabitEthernet0/0 nameif outside security-level 0 ip address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.1.4 ! interface GigabitEthernet0/1 speed 1000 duplex full channel-group 1 mode passive no nameif no security-level no ip address ! interface GigabitEthernet0/2 speed 1000 duplex full channel-group 1 mode passive no nameif no security-level no ip address ! interface Port-channel1.1 vlan 1 nameif inside security-level 100 ip address 192.168.8.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.8.2 ! interface Port-channel1.10 vlan 10 nameif guest security-level 50 ip address 172.16.100.2 255.255.255.224 standby 172.16.100.3 ! interface Port-channel1.16 vlan 16 nameif dmz security-level 50 ip address 192.168.16.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.16.2 On the switch, I created a trunk LACP capable with the port 1 and 2 on each switch, force the speed to 1000 and put the port un full duplex mode. BUT this is not working... I tried many things and I can't make it work. In this configuration, I can't ping anything between my ASA and my Switch (or any object connected). Here what I get on my ASA : Channel group 1 LACP port Admin Oper Port Port Port Flags State Priority Key Key Number State ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gi0/2 SP not-bndl 32768 0x1 0x1 0x3 0xc Gi0/1 FP not-bndl 32768 0x1 0x1 0x2 0x6 And on the Switchs : PORT LACP TRUNK PORT LACP LACP NUMB ENABLED GROUP STATUS PARTNER STATUS ----- ------- ----- ------ ------- ------ 1 Active trk1 Broken Yes Failure 2 Active trk1 Broken Yes Failure If I change the Cisco interface to LACP mode On, I can ping the switch from the ASA but nothing other objects conneted on the switch. If I look at the statut of LACP on the switch I see this : PORT LACP TRUNK PORT LACP LACP NUMB ENABLED GROUP STATUS PARTNER STATUS ----- ------- ----- ------ ------- ------ 1 Active trk1 Up No Success 2 Active trk1 Up No Success I don't have any clue on what's going on so If someone have any idea and help me on this, it would be great ! Feel free to ask me anything if you need any more information ! Thanks a lot !

  • Two DHCP Servers, Block Clients for one of them?

    - by Rilindo
I am building out a kickstart network that resides on a different VLAN uses its own DHCP server. For some reason, my kickstart clients kept getting assign IPs from my primary DHCP server. The way I have it set up is that I have a primary DHCP server on this router here: 192.168.15.1 Connected to that DHCP server is a switch with the IP of 192.168.15.2. My kickstart (Scientific Linux) server is connected to that switch on two ports: Port 2 - where the kickstart server communicates to the rest of the production network via eth0. The IP assigned to the server on that interface is 192.168.15.100 (on eth0). The details are: Interface: eth0 IP: 192.168.15.100 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.15.1 Port 7 - has it's own VLAN ID (along with port 8). The kickstart server is connected to that port with the IP of 172.16.15.100 (on eth1). Again, the details are: Interface: eth1 IP: 172.16.15.100 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: none The kickstart server runs its own DHCP server and assigns them over the eth1. Most of the kick starts are built over the kickstart VLAN through port 8. To prevent the kickstart DHCP server from assigning addresses over the production network, I have the route setup like so: route add -host 255.255.255.255 dev eth1 At this point, the clients kept getting assign IPs from the 192.168.15.1 DHCP server. I need to figure out a way to block client requests from reaching that DHCP. Its should be noted that but I also build KVM hosts on the kickstart server as well, so I need those KVMs to have the ability to get DHCP requests from the 192.168.15.1 DHCP server via the bridge network once I finish resolved this particular problem. (Currently, they communicate via NAT). So what would be done to resolve this? Through iptables or some sort of routing I need to put in? I tried to limited to requests via IPtables on that interface, allowing DHCP requests for 172.16.15.x network: -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 172.16.15.0/24 -p udp -m udp --dport 69 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 172.16.15.0/24 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 69 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 172.16.15.0/24 -p udp -m udp --dport 68 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 172.16.15.0/24 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 68 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 172.16.15.0/24 -p udp -m udp --dport 67 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 172.16.15.0/24 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 67 -j ACCEPT And rejects assignments on eth1 from 192.168.15.x network: -A FORWARD -o eth1 -s 192.168.15.0/24 -p udp -m udp --dport 69 -j REJECT -A FORWARD -o eth1 -s 192.168.15.0/24 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 69 -j REJECT -A FORWARD -o eth1 -s 192.168.15.0/24 -p udp -m udp --dport 68 -j REJECT -A FORWARD -o eth1 -s 192.168.15.0/24 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 68 -j REJECT -A FORWARD -o eth1 -s 192.168.15.0/24 -p udp -m udp --dport 67 -j REJECT -A FORWARD -o eth1 -s 192.168.15.0/24 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 67 -j REJECT Nope. :(

  • Essbase BSO Data Fragmentation

    - by Ann Donahue
Essbase BSO Data Fragmentation Data fragmentation naturally occurs in Essbase Block Storage (BSO) databases where there are a lot of end user data updates, incremental data loads, many lock and send, and/or many calculations executed.  If an Essbase database starts to experience performance slow-downs, this is an indication that there may be too much fragmentation.  See Chapter 54 Improving Essbase Performance in the Essbase DBA Guide for more details on measuring and eliminating fragmentation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/daprcset.html Fragmentation is likely to occur in the following situations: Read/write databases that users are constantly updating data Databases that execute calculations around the clock Databases that frequently update and recalculate dense members Data loads that are poorly designed Databases that contain a significant number of Dynamic Calc and Store members Databases that use an isolation level of uncommitted access with commit block set to zero There are two types of data block fragmentation Free space tracking, which is measured using the Average Fragmentation Quotient statistic. Block order on disk, which is measured using the Average Cluster Ratio statistic. Average Fragmentation Quotient The Average Fragmentation Quotient ratio measures free space in a given database.  As you update and calculate data, empty spaces occur when a block can no longer fit in its original space and will either append at the end of the file or fit in another empty space that is large enough.  These empty spaces take up space in the .PAG files.  The higher the number the more empty spaces you have, therefore, the bigger the .PAG file and the longer it takes to traverse through the .PAG file to get to a particular record.  An Average Fragmentation Quotient value of 3.174765 means the database is 3% fragmented with free space. Average Cluster Ratio Average Cluster Ratio describes the order the blocks actually exist in the database. An Average Cluster Ratio number of 1 means all the blocks are ordered in the correct sequence in the order of the Outline.  As you load data and calculate data blocks, the sequence can start to be out of order.  This is because when you write to a block it may not be able to place back in the exact same spot in the database that it existed before.  The lower this number the more out of order it becomes and the more it affects performance.  An Average Cluster Ratio value of 1 means no fragmentation.  Any value lower than 1 i.e. 0.01032828 means the data blocks are getting further out of order from the outline order. Eliminating Data Block Fragmentation Both types of data block fragmentation can be removed by doing a dense restructure or export/clear/import of the data.  There are two types of dense restructure: 1. Implicit Restructures Implicit dense restructure happens when outline changes are done using EAS Outline Editor or Dimension Build. Essbase restructures create new .PAG files restructuring the data blocks in the .PAG files. When Essbase restructures the data blocks, it regenerates the index automatically so that index entries point to the new data blocks. Empty blocks are NOT removed with implicit restructures. 2. Explicit Restructures Explicit dense restructure happens when a manual initiation of the database restructure is executed. An explicit dense restructure is a full restructure which comprises of a dense restructure as outlined above plus the removal of empty blocks Empty Blocks vs. Fragmentation The existence of empty blocks is not considered fragmentation.  Empty blocks can be created through calc scripts or formulas.  An empty block will add to an existing database block count and will be included in the block counts of the database properties.  There are no statistics for empty blocks.  The only way to determine if empty blocks exist in an Essbase database is to record your current block count, export the entire database, clear the database then import the exported data.  If the block count decreased, the difference is the number of empty blocks that had existed in the database.

  • How do I start nginx on port 80 at OS X login?

    - by Bryson
I installed Nginx using homebrew and after completing the installation the following message was displayed: In the interest of allowing you to run `nginx` without `sudo`, the default port is set to localhost:8080. If you want to host pages on your local machine to the public, you should change that to localhost:80, and run `sudo nginx`. You'll need to turn off any other web servers running port 80, of course. You can start nginx automatically on login running as your user with: mkdir -p ~/Library/LaunchAgents cp #{prefix}/org.nginx.nginx.plist ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ launchctl load -w ~/Library/LaunchAgents/org.nginx.nginx.plist Though note that if running as your user, the launch agent will fail if you try to use a port below 1024 (such as http's default of 80.) But I want Nginx, on port 80, running at login and I don't want to have to open terminal and type in sudo nginx to do it. I want it to load from a plist file like Redis and PostgreSQL do. I moved the plist to /Library/LaunchAgents/ from the user folder equivalent and changed its ownership, also tried setting the user directive in the nginx.conf file and still the same error message in Console.app: nginx: [emerg] bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (13: Permission denied) (along with another message telling me that since nginx was being run without super-user privileges, the user directive was being ignored)

  • Using pre-made patch cables on a punch down block?

    - by Trevor Harrison
I need to add a 24 port switch to my wiring closet. In the (distant) past, I usually just punched each port of the switch to a 110 block on the wall (using hand-made cables), and cross connect between that and the 110 block that has the runs to each workstation. To save time, I'm thinking of buying 12 pre-made drop cables, cutting them in half (so 24 single ended cables), and punching those to my 110 block. The things I'm worried about are wire type (ie. solid vs. strands) and color scheme. I really don't know if they use different wire types (still?), but I remember that being an issue at one point. Can anyone comment on this? (I definitely won't feel comfortable trying to punch stranded wiring on my 110 block) Also, picking up a random pre-built cable I had laying around, I noticed that the color scheme used didn't appear to be T568B, but T568A, which would clash with the rest of my wall. Anyone know of an online source that specifies these things? I've looked at www.cablesforless.com (which does have nicer prices) and www.cablestogo.com (which seem stupid expensive) so far. Cables For Less doesn't specify wiring scheme, Cables To Go does specify T568B. Both seem to specify stranded wires instead of solid.

  • Will Parallel-port dongle work on USB-to-Parallel Adapter?

    - by Gary M. Mugford
We have a niche program running on a Win2K laptop that uses a security dongle connected to a parallel port for authentication. The laptop is getting creaky and I spent a frustrating night last night shopping various websites for a new laptop that had a parallel port. Seems I'm about three years late [G]. The question I have, is, if I buy a new(ish) laptop and use a USB-to-Parallel Port adapter, will the security dongle work? I know I'm not being specific about the app, but it's one most people wouldn't have heard of anyways. I've been guessing the answer to my question is no, since the app won't know to send a request out to the non-existent port. But, if the process actually is that the dongle sends a message INTO the computer every now and then, then it might work. And, I'm not sure whether the dongle is only needed at program startup time or randomly. The dongle is a 'permanent' addition to the old laptop. This is all about the money. We can have a newly-updated version of the program (which won't add any features we need) for the princely sum of $2700. Or we can spend $500 on a refurbed laptop still running WinXP, add a 30 buck adapter and keep the same solid, stolid performance we've come to appreciate. But it all comes down to the dongle behaviour. Oh, and a dock won't work. The whole laptop issue is about moving about the various nooks and crannies of the building with laptop in hand. Thanks for any suggestions/guidance. GM

  • MS Word 2010: Hide citation title when 2 publications by same first author from different years are in one citation block

    - by srunni
I'm trying to hide the display of the titles for two publications by the same first author from different years that are in the same citation block. By default, the title is shown in citations when there are two publications by the same author in a given document. The easiest way to get around this is to right click on the citation, click "Edit Citation", and then suppress the title. However, the issue with this is that if there are 2 citations in 1 citation block (i.e., "(Smith, J., et al. 2010, Smith, J., et al. 2011)" rather than "(Smith, J., et al. 2010) (Smith, J., et al. 2011)"), then using that suppress option only suppresses the title for the first citation (in this case, the 2010 publication). OTOH, if I try to initially insert the publications in separate citation blocks, I can suppress the title in both citations, but I can't cut and paste one into the other's citation block. I can click "Cut" and the citation that was just cut disappears, but the "Paste" option is not available when my cursor is in the second citation block. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Squid: caching *.swf with variables

    - by stfn
    I'd recently upgraded my Ubuntu 11.10 x64 server to 12.04. In this process Squid was updated from 2.7 to 3.1. Squid 3.1 has many different options witch broke my setup. So I completely removed squid 2.7 and 3.1 and started from scratch. Everything is now working as before except for 1 thing: caching of .swf files with ?/variables. Squid 3 sees a ? as dynamic content and does not cache it. For example, Squid 2.7 was caching the .swf file at http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Play/Bloons-Tower-Defense-5.html and 3.1 is not. <object id="mov" name="movn" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="800" height="620"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.ninjakiwifiles.com/Games/gameswfs/btd5.swf?v=160512-2"> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"> <param name="flashvars" value="file=http://www.ninjakiwifiles.com/Games/gameswfs/btd5-dat.swf?v=280512"> <p>Get Flash play Ninja Kiwi games.</p> </object> It is because of the "?v=160512-2" and "?v=280512" part. This line should be responsible for that: refresh_pattern -i (/cgi-bin/|\?) 0 0% 0 But disabling it still doesn't cache the .swf files. How do I configure Squid 3.1 to cache those files? My current config is: acl manager proto cache_object acl localhost src 127.0.0.1/32 ::1 acl to_localhost dst 127.0.0.0/8 0.0.0.0/32 ::1 acl SSL_ports port 443 acl Safe_ports port 80 # http acl Safe_ports port 21 # ftp acl Safe_ports port 443 # https acl Safe_ports port 70 # gopher acl Safe_ports port 210 # wais acl Safe_ports port 1025-65535 # unregistered ports acl Safe_ports port 280 # http-mgmt acl Safe_ports port 488 # gss-http acl Safe_ports port 591 # filemaker acl Safe_ports port 777 # multiling http acl CONNECT method CONNECT acl localnet src 192.168.2.0-192.168.2.255 acl localnet src 192.168.3.0-192.168.3.255 http_access allow manager localhost http_access deny manager http_access deny !Safe_ports http_access deny CONNECT !SSL_ports http_access allow localhost http_access allow localnet http_access deny all http_port 3128 cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 10240 16 256 maximum_object_size 100 MB coredump_dir /var/spool/squid3 refresh_pattern ^ftp: 1440 20% 10080 refresh_pattern ^gopher: 1440 0% 1440 refresh_pattern -i \.(gif|png|jpg|jpeg|ico)$ 10080 90% 43200 override-expire ignore-no-cache ignore-no-store ignore-private refresh_pattern -i \.(iso|avi|wav|mp3|mp4|mpeg|swf|flv|x-flv)$ 43200 90% 432000 override-expire ignore-no-cache ignore-no-store ignore-private refresh_pattern -i \.(deb|rpm|exe|zip|tar|tgz|ram|rar|bin|ppt|doc|tiff)$ 10080 90% 43200 override-expire ignore-no-cache ignore-no-store ignore-private refresh_pattern -i \.index.(html|htm)$ 0 40% 10080 refresh_pattern -i \.(html|htm|css|js)$ 1440 40% 40320 refresh_pattern Packages\.bz2$ 0 20% 4320 refresh-ims refresh_pattern Sources\.bz2$ 0 20% 4320 refresh-ims refresh_pattern Release\.gpg$ 0 20% 4320 refresh-ims refresh_pattern Release$ 0 20% 4320 refresh-ims refresh_pattern . 0 40% 40320 cache_effective_user proxy cache_effective_group proxy

  • What causes a switch port to receive data not destined for it?

    - by user1693454
We are having an intermittent fault which is effecting one of our control systems on one of our HP Procurve switches. For some reason, this PLC (10mbit port - 192.168.6.56) which is attached directly to the HP Switch intermittantly start's receiving data which is not destined for it. The data is being sent from a Thecus NAS with latest firmware (192.168.6.218) to a physical IBM Server running Win2003R2 and SAP (192.168.6.225). The problem does not just send to this server, it has been to other physical servers in the past too, but always from the Thecus NAS. I am using a monitor port to wireshark what is going in/out of the PLC - normally there would be about 1mb in/out per 2 or 3 minutes - only a server asking the state of the coils. When the problem occurs, there is a flood of data being put onto the PLC line - in this captured instance, about 67mb in less than a minute. Due to this, there is no way that the PLC can be queried as the port is effectively DOSed, in turn killing part of our factory. I know that having Production on the same vlan as IT is not a good idea - I agree, however it cannot be changed at the moment (will have to wait 3 months), as well as the problem has only started happening in the last 3 months. Here is a screen cap of one of the packets being sent from the Thecus NAS which was captured from the PLC port on the HP Switch: And there are over 700 of these in this one 1024kb file. If anyone has any idea on what could be going on, some help would be greatly appreciated. If you need to know anything more, let me know! Cheers!

  • how to remove location block from $uri in nginx configuration?

    - by Jason
    I have a rewrite in my ngix conf file that works properly except it seems to include the location block as part of the $uri variable. I only want the path after the location block. My current config code is: location /cargo { try_files $uri $uri/ /cargo/index.php?_REWRITE_COMMAND=$uri&args; } Using an example url of http://localhost/cargo/testpage the redirect works, however the value of the "_REWRITE_COMMAND" parameter received by my php file is "/cargo/testpage". I need to strip off the location block and just have "testpage" as the $uri I am pretty sure there is a regex syntax to split the $uri and assign it to a new variable using $1 $2 etc, but I can't find any example to do just a variable assignment using a regex that is not part of a rewrite statement. I've been looking and trying for hours and I just can't seem to get past this last step. I also know I could just strip this out on the application code, but the reason I want to try to fix it in the nginx conf is for compatibility reasons as it also runs on Apache. I also should say that I have figured out a really hacky way to do it, but it involves an "if" statement to check for file existance and the documentation specifically says not to do it that way. -- UPDATE: ANSWERED BY theuni: The regex goes in the location block definition. one note of caution is that php handler location needs to be ABOVE this location, otherwise you will get a server error because it goes into an infinite redirect loop location ~ ^/cargo/(.*) { try_files $1 /cargo/$1/ /cargo/index.php?_REWRITE_COMMAND=$1&args; }

I'm currently using a cron job to have a Perl script that tells my Arduino to cycle my aquaponics system and all is well, except the Perl script doesn't die as intended. Here is my cron job: */15 * * * * /home/dburke/scripts/hal/bin/main.pl cycle And below is my Perl script: #!/usr/bin/perl -w # Sample Perl script to transmit number # to Arduino then listen for the Arduino # to echo it back use strict; use Device::SerialPort; use Switch; use Time::HiRes qw ( alarm ); $|++; # Set up the serial port # 19200, 81N on the USB ftdi driver my $device = '/dev/arduino0'; # Tomoc has to use a different tty for testing #$device = '/dev/ttyS0'; my $port = new Device::SerialPort ($device) or die('Unable to open connection to device');; $port->databits(8); $port->baudrate(19200); $port->parity("none"); $port->stopbits(1); my $lastChoice = ' '; my $pid = fork(); my $signalOut; my $args = shift(@ARGV); # Parent must wait for child to exit before exiting itself on CTRL+C $SIG{'INT'} = sub { waitpid($pid,0) if $pid != 0; exit(0); }; # What child process should do if($pid == 0) { # Poll to see if any data is coming in print "\nListening...\n\n"; while (1) { my $incmsg = $port->lookfor(9); # If we get data, then print it if ($incmsg) { print "\nFrom arduino: " . $incmsg . "\n\n"; } } } # What parent process should do else { if ($args eq "cycle") { my $stop = 0; sleep(1); $SIG{ALRM} = sub { print "Expecting plant bed to be full; please check.\n"; $signalOut = $port->write('2'); # Signal to set pin 3 low print "Sent cmd: 2\n"; $stop = 1; }; $signalOut = $port->write('1'); # Signal to arduino to set pin 3 High print "Sent cmd: 1\n"; print "Waiting for plant bed to fill...\n"; alarm (420); while ($stop == 0) { sleep(2); } die "Done."; } else { sleep(1); my $choice = ' '; print "Please pick an option you'd like to use:\n"; while(1) { print " [1] Cycle [2] Relay OFF [3] Relay ON [4] Config [$lastChoice]: "; chomp($choice = <STDIN>); switch ($choice) { case /1/ { $SIG{ALRM} = sub { print "Expecting plant bed to be full; please check.\n"; $signalOut = $port->write('2'); # Signal to set pin 3 low print "Sent cmd: 2\n"; }; $signalOut = $port->write('1'); # Signal to arduino to set pin 3 High print "Sent cmd: 1\n"; print "Waiting for plant bed to fill...\n"; alarm (420); $lastChoice = $choice; } case /2/ { $signalOut = $port->write('2'); # Signal to set pin 3 low print "Sent cmd: 2"; $lastChoice = $choice; } case /3/ { $signalOut = $port->write('1'); # Signal to arduino to set pin 3 High print "Sent cmd: 1"; $lastChoice = $choice; } case /4/ { print "There is no configuration available yet. Please stab the developer."; } else { print "Please select a valid option.\n\n"; } } } } } Why wouldn't it die from the statement die "Done.";? It runs fine from the command line and also interprets the 'cycle' argument fine. When it runs in cron it runs fine, however, the process never dies and while each process doesn't continue to cycle the system it does seem to be looping in some way due to the fact that it ups my system load very quickly. If you'd like more information, just ask. EDIT: I have changed to code to: #!/usr/bin/perl -w # Sample Perl script to transmit number # to Arduino then listen for the Arduino # to echo it back use strict; use Device::SerialPort; use Switch; use Time::HiRes qw ( alarm ); $|++; # Set up the serial port # 19200, 81N on the USB ftdi driver my $device = '/dev/arduino0'; # Tomoc has to use a different tty for testing #$device = '/dev/ttyS0'; my $port = new Device::SerialPort ($device) or die('Unable to open connection to device');; $port->databits(8); $port->baudrate(19200); $port->parity("none"); $port->stopbits(1); my $lastChoice = ' '; my $signalOut; my $args = shift(@ARGV); # Parent must wait for child to exit before exiting itself on CTRL+C if ($args eq "cycle") { open (LOG, '>>log.txt'); print LOG "Cycle started.\n"; my $stop = 0; sleep(2); $SIG{ALRM} = sub { print "Expecting plant bed to be full; please check.\n"; $signalOut = $port->write('2'); # Signal to set pin 3 low print "Sent cmd: 2\n"; $stop = 1; }; $signalOut = $port->write('1'); # Signal to arduino to set pin 3 High print "Sent cmd: 1\n"; print "Waiting for plant bed to fill...\n"; print LOG "Alarm is being set.\n"; alarm (420); print LOG "Alarm is set.\n"; while ($stop == 0) { print LOG "In while-sleep loop.\n"; sleep(2); } print LOG "The loop has been escaped.\n"; die "Done."; print LOG "No one should ever see this."; } else { my $pid = fork(); $SIG{'INT'} = sub { waitpid($pid,0) if $pid != 0; exit(0); }; # What child process should do if($pid == 0) { # Poll to see if any data is coming in print "\nListening...\n\n"; while (1) { my $incmsg = $port->lookfor(9); # If we get data, then print it if ($incmsg) { print "\nFrom arduino: " . $incmsg . "\n\n"; } } } # What parent process should do else { sleep(1); my $choice = ' '; print "Please pick an option you'd like to use:\n"; while(1) { print " [1] Cycle [2] Relay OFF [3] Relay ON [4] Config [$lastChoice]: "; chomp($choice = <STDIN>); switch ($choice) { case /1/ { $SIG{ALRM} = sub { print "Expecting plant bed to be full; please check.\n"; $signalOut = $port->write('2'); # Signal to set pin 3 low print "Sent cmd: 2\n"; }; $signalOut = $port->write('1'); # Signal to arduino to set pin 3 High print "Sent cmd: 1\n"; print "Waiting for plant bed to fill...\n"; alarm (420); $lastChoice = $choice; } case /2/ { $signalOut = $port->write('2'); # Signal to set pin 3 low print "Sent cmd: 2"; $lastChoice = $choice; } case /3/ { $signalOut = $port->write('1'); # Signal to arduino to set pin 3 High print "Sent cmd: 1"; $lastChoice = $choice; } case /4/ { print "There is no configuration available yet. • Java Socket Closes After Connection?

    - by Matthew
Why does this port/socket close once a connection has been made by a client? package app; import java.io.*; import java.net.*; public class socketServer { public static void main(String[] args) { int port = 3333; boolean socketBindedToPort = false; try { ServerSocket ServerSocketPort = new ServerSocket(port); System.out.println("SocketServer Set Up on Port: " + port); socketBindedToPort = true; if(socketBindedToPort == true) { Socket clientSocket = null; try { clientSocket = ServerSocketPort.accept();//This method blocks until a socket connection has been made to this port. • Are spurious TCP connections on port 53 a problem?

    - by Darren Greaves
I run a server which amongst other things uses tinydns for DNS and axfrdns for handling transfer requests from our secondary DNS (another system). I understand that tinydns uses port 53 on UDP and axfrdns uses port 53 on TCP. I've configured axfrdns to only allow connections from my agreed secondary host. I run logcheck to monitor my logs and every day I see spurious connections on port 53 (TCP) from seemingly random hosts. They usually turn out to be from ADSL connections. My question is; are these innocent requests or a security risk? I am happy to block repeat offenders using iptables but don't want to block innocent users of one of the websites I host. Thanks, Darren.

  • Using the option port on my Watchguard Firebox as a 2nd gateway exit point?

    - by Donovan
I'm working on a network project in witch I have to design our network to provide two different exit points. The points are differentiated by the path through the corporate network. One of them travels through some monitoring hardware the other does not. We have a Watchguard Firebox in use as our gateway. Currently the network side provides the unmonitored exit point. I was wondering if i hooked the option port to our lan at a point that would force traffic through the monitored path, would it cause any problems? Access to the unmonitored gateway port would be restricted by ip. That would force all others not authorized to point to the monitored gateway port. I thought with the above design i might be able to get away with not having to buy another firebox to achieve the design I want. Thanks, D

  • Can I set up a COM Port that Connects via TCP/IP?

    - by Kristopher Johnson
I have an RS232 device connected to a Digi PortServer on my network. I can telnet to the Digi's IP and port number to communicate with that RS232 device. I have a Windows application that knows how to talk to the device, but it wants to connect directly to an RS232 port. So, my question: Is there some way to set up a COM port so that when this application connects to it, it goes through the network to the Digi to communicate with the device? I have run across the utility TCP-Com, which seems like it might be a solution. Is this the best option?

  • Linksys EA3500 : use WAN port as WAN + LAN possible?

    - by Dough
I'm waiting for deliver of a Linksys EA3500 router. I was wondering if it was possible to get the WAN port act as normal WAN port (Internet IP) + LAN switch ? My problem is that my Internet box is in a room with NAS and PC, and the router will be in another room with TV, PS3 and PC. The Internet box have a 4 port Gigabit switch so one cable will plug from there to the router's WAN in the other room. The router will get the Internet IP from the Internet box, but will it be possible to have private network through this link too ? I could have a first network between the Internet box and the router, and another network form router and devices but that will do double NAT for nothing... Thanks for reading me and your help !

  • How do http proxies determine https traffic with a single port?

    - by badunk
If a proxy receives the tcp packet, then the destination ip address and port are that of the proxy. In that case, I imagine the only way a proxy can still resolve the intended destination is either through routing the source ip address/port or through the host field in the http header. Is this correct? In both Fiddler and Charles http proxies, I noticed that the tool accepts both http and https connections through a single port that you can specify. What do these tools do to tell the difference between the two types of connections?

  • Hosting a web site at home: ISP Blocking port 80?

    - by tombull89
Hello, I presume this is a better place to put this rather than server fault. I'm interested in setting up a small site to host at home as a "proof of concept" exercise, i.e. to prrove that I know how to do it. I've got a (virtual) server 2003 machine with a site on it, all configured with port forwarding through to 80 on my server. I have a Belkin F5D7634 which I have put my DYNDNS details in but when I try to go to my DYNDNS address it comes up with the page cannot be displayed. My ISP is Carphone Warehouse/AOL and I've been unable to find any information if they block port 80. If they do, can anybody reccomend a home provider that does not block port 80? Regards, Tom.

  • How do I make a privileged port non-privileged in Redhat 5?

    - by Jason Thompson
So I have a RedHat 5 box that I'm wanting to run an application that I wrote that implements SLP. SLP uses port 427 for answering service queries. My understanding is that ports below 1024 are "privileged" and thus cannot be bound to by anyone that's not root. I cannot run this application as root as it is launched via tomcat. One creative solution I really like was simply writing an iptables rule to route the privileged port to a non-privileged. In my proof of concept tests, this works wonderfully. Unfortunately, it would be greatly (and understandably) desired by the powers if my application did not require screwing around with iptables upon installation. So I heard a rumor and cannot find anything to verify this that there was some sort of command or parameter that could be set to make any port I want be non-privileged. Is this true? If so, how is this done? Thanks!

  • What is the effect on LVM snapshot size when a file block is rewritten with it's original contents?

    - by NevilleDNZ
I'm exploring using LVM snapshot's to off site incremental archives from a snapshot "master" file system. In essence: simply copy across only the files on the "master" that have changed since the last incremental copy to the "archive". Then snapshot the "archive" to retain the incremental. I am a bit puzzled as to the block usage behaviour of the archive's own incremental snapshot. I'm expecting that LVM is not smart enough to know that the "file block" is actually unchanged, and the a new copy will be allocated and written for the fresh "archive" file system. Can anyone confirm this, or point me to a document/page that gives some hints? BTW: the OS hard disk cache, hard disk physical cache and hard disk itself also doesn't need to do any actual "disk writes" as the "disk block" likewise is unnecessary. Any pointers to discussion of this style of optimisation would also be ineresting.

  • Emulate a USB port as a USB flash drive?

    - by Wilco
Does anyone know of any software that can emulate a USB flash drive through an available USB port in OS X? Perhaps some way to map a directory to a USB port that could then be connected to another device that supports reading USB storage devices? I'd love to connect my laptop to my car's USB port and access files as if it were a USB drive. I know about the target disk mode with firewire (not sure if this is also supported over USB), but I was hoping for something that doesn't require booting outside of the OS (I want to retain use of the machine). Any ideas?
