  • IBM LTO 3 Tape drive periodically going "offline"

    I have a problem with a LTO 3 Tape Drive. I'm using Brightstor ArcServe Backup software with Windows Server 2003. Sometimes, the scheduled backups will stop working and going into "devices" inside this software reveals that the Tape Drive is offline. The only way to make it work again is uninstalling the Tape Drive's driver and rebooting the server: Windows then auto recognizes and installs the required drivers and the Tape Drive works again. Has anyone ever encountered a similar problem?

    I've just started using selinux in the last 6 months and am getting to grips with it. However, using sealert on a new CENTOS 6 server, Im not getting the level of detail I was with CENTOS 5. To illustrate: Running sealert -a /var/log/audit/audit.log On CENTOS 5 I get: Summary: SELinux is preventing postdrop (postfix_postdrop_t) "getattr" to /var/log/httpd/error_log (httpd_log_t). Detailed Description: SELinux denied access requested by postdrop. It is not expected that this access is required by postdrop and this access may signal an intrusion attempt. It is also possible that the specific version or configuration of the application is causing it to require additional access. Allowing Access: Sometimes labeling problems can cause SELinux denials. You could try to restore the default system file context for /var/log/httpd/error_log, restorecon -v '/var/log/httpd/error_log' If this does not work, there is currently no automatic way to allow this access. Instead, you can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ (http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/selinux-faq-fc5/#id2961385) Or you can disable SELinux protection altogether.     Is there any limitation to the proxy authentication support of rhn_register? The proxy of the network I'm on sends the follow 407: HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied. ) Via: 1.1 VANESSA Proxy-Authenticate: Negotiate Proxy-Authenticate: Kerberos Proxy-Authenticate: NTLM It seems that rhn_register is not able to any of the authentication schemes above. Any advise?

  • Install Windows control panel applet in Wine

    I want to add the bthprops.cpl dll (The bluetooth control panel applet) to my wine install under Ubuntu 10.04 since it is required for Dolphin Emulator. http://www.dolphin-emulator.com/ I copied the file from my windows install into the System32 folder in .wine and into the folder where the application I am trying to run is, but wine still fails to load it. Is there anything else I need to do to make the dll accessible for wine programs? (Please don't suggest the native linux Version of Dolphin as a fix - it is not working for me)

    I am trying to compile KDE from sources and I get this error when trying to make kdelibs: Could NOT find Phonon: Found version "4.3.1", but required is at least "4.3.80" I am running Kubuntu karmic ... and I have the latest phonon dev files. How can I upgrade it to the version that kdelibs needs?

  • pam_tty_audit and non privileged users

    I'm working on a cents 6.3 box and am trying to log all commands executed from a bash shell and came across pam_tty_audit. I've added the appropriate line to my /etc/pam.d/system-auth file: "session required pam_tty_audit.so enable=*" The problem is that it does not appear to capture commands unless a user is root. For example, if i ssh in as root it logs everything to the audit log, but if I ssh as a regular user it does not start logging anything until after I have su to root. Any ideas?
