  I'm managing several tomcat instances (aprox 30-35) and looking for some console to centralize the logs. I tried php-syslog-ng before (no with tomcat), and found it useful. I would like that these software would have some of these features: -Syntax highlight according to the severity of the exceptions. -Tree view for stack traces and nested exceptions. Bonus point: -Alarm when certain pattern is matched.

• How to find out where or if MYSQL5 logs are stored on a machine WHM/Cpanel

  I have a WHM/Cpanel re-seller hosting account on a virtual private server (Linux). I have root access to the machine via SSH I am trying to locate a file that contains information that will help me to determine which users have accessed what db and from which hosts. I would imagine this kind of data is stored in a log file somewhere. The MySQL page says: The general query log - Established client connections and statements received from clients See: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-logs.html It also says: By default, all log files are created in the mysqld data directory. So, I am am NOT asking where are the general query log logs stored, (cos I expect I will get answers saying "it depends") Please help me work out: "How can go about finding out where MySQL general query log logs are stored on a linux machine" Couple of things i've already tried: I looked at /etc/my.cnf it was a tiny file that only contained the following info: [mysqld] skip-bdb skip-innodb set-variable = max_connections=500 safe-show-database ~ ~ I have looked in: /var/lib/mysql/ But I could not see any log-like file names in that directory. Any clues on this would be most welcome.

• Apache log showing NAT server address instead of real requester IP

  My Apache server is behind a firewall with a NAT translation. The problem I'm having is that I want to see who is actually making the request instead of my firewall's address. It's nice to know that the firewall is working, but to really look at traffic patterns I need to see the real world IP address.

• Apache log - file does not exist

  I have quite a few of these in Apache logs piling up every day: [Mon Jun 09 20:42:58 2014] [error] [client 180.153.214.181] File does not exist: /home/user/public_html/ajax.googleapis.com, referer: http://www.mysite.com//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js I have over 200k visitors per day but a few of them like a dozen or so are generating the above error. I can't figure out what may be causing it. Checked the html code and it's all good so I ran out of ideas.

• Revover original email from Sendmail log

  I have a website the contact form has been failing silently for two weeks (Wordpress + Contact form 7). Apparently updating to Contact Form 7 made the assigned email to fail [email protected], I also tested with [email protected] and it also failed until I tried with gmail and it finally worked. Apparently @telefonica.net and @me.com domains are not working with this version of the plugin, but I have to investigate the cause. I found the logs of the lost emails, but I would like to know If I can recover the sender or the content of the original messages. • iPhone log reader

  I went to the apple store today to discuss a problem with my iPhone battery, and they plugged it into one of their macs and used an application that interpreted the logs stored on my phone. So, my question is, does anybody know the name of the application that reads the logs, and if so, where it is available? Since it is a diagnostic tool, I'm guessing it won't be openly available, but I thought i would ask anyway.

• apache log analysis tools for multiple virtual hosts?

  I am interested in trying to get a side by side usage comparison of all the virtual hosts being served up by my apache server. In the simplest case, I want to see a list (or bar chart) with each virtual host and the number of requests/traffic on that site. I've been playing around with webalyzer and awstats but I haven't been able to compare multiple virtual hosts in the same infographic. Anyone have any suggestions on tools for doing this (or how I might use the above tools to do so)?
