I have installed Visual Studio 2010 RC. I want to install Visual C# 2008 because XNA Game Studio needs it to be installed. Can I run them side-by-side?
I find myself going to about five or six main places in my code 80% of the time and would like a way to go to them fast even if all files are closed.
I would like to be able to open up a solution in visual studio and with no file open, see a list of self-labeled bookmarks like this:
LoadNext
Settings page refresh
app.config connections
app settings
stringhelpers top
stringhelpers bottom
I click one of these and it opens that file and jumps to that position.
How can I best make bookmarks like this in Visual Studio 2008/2010?
I'm trying to sign an assembly in Visual Studio 2010 with our PFX file, after I enter the password for the private key I get "An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist"
I have been unable to locate any information on compatibility with Visual Studio 2003 or 2005. I currently have TFS2010 working correctly with Visual Studio 2008, but we have some developers with Visual Studio 2003 and 2005 instances.
Wierd....
Late nite I installed Office 2010 Professional Plus.
Here I am, the next morning, and Visual Studio 2008 is freezing, like there "was some invisible dialog window", because it doesn't allow me to click on any IDE element.
In brief, after I open a ASP.MVC form, suddenly I'm not allowed to click on anything, icon, dock panel, toolbox, nothing...
Anyone has this kind of problem?
I'm about to start working on a C# project. I'd like to buy VS 2010, but the only other member of the programming team is already using VS 2008. I'm concerned that having two different versions of VS in use will cause code compatibility issues. Is this a valid concern?
I spent a lot of time reading blogs and tutorials on the Net regarding how to do this and that with VS2010, but I thought it would be better to learn it in a more systematic way.
Do you know of a good website/book that will teach me how to use Visual Studio 2010/2008 Team System + Microsoft Project to perform various tasks from Project Management to code development and testing in the way the software was designed for?
Thank you.
Visual Studio 2010 seems to insist on having this import in web application projects
<Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath32)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" />
What does this import give us and is it really required?
On a side note if you remove this import with a text editor Visual studio will re-add it.
The reason i am asking is when the project is compiled on a build server that target does nor exists because visual studio is not installed.
As probably everyone knows, MS just released the RC for Visual Studio 2010 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/dd582936.aspx). I'm about to download and install it, but I need to know if the current Silverlight 4 beta bits are supported. Anyone happen to know, or know differently? (If I don't get an answer, I'll post my results back here.)
Visio has been supporting UML diagrams for quite some time now. Microsoft has now added UML support in Visual Studio 2010.
Will these two tools interoperate? Further how does one go about deciding which tool to use for what diagrams (assuming one already has both tools)?
I have been wandering around the object model for VS 2010 and haven't been able to work out the best method for watching what the user is looking at in the main edit window.
I know that each Class/method/property is broken down into its own . What I would ideally like is to hook to an event which says "The user has moved the cursor onto Project.Class.Method" and ideally "and is looking at line 4".
Any suggestions?
Does anyone know of some sample code that shows how Delphi 2010 can read RAW files using its new COM interface to WIC?
I want to read Canon RAW images and then access specific pixels...
Does any one know how to connect to MySQL 5.1 with Visual Studio 2010?
I have already tried the MySQL Connector/ODBC route and it got me really nasty results. The table rows were all listed as a view in the views section and nothing at all was listed in the tables or procedures folder.
Is there a way to modify Visual Studio 2008 or 2010 project pre-build events from within your code in C#? Does C# have such preprocessor directives that would allow one to configure what gets run before project compilation and build?
Visual Studio 2010 adds a zoom setting on the bottom left of the text editor (to the left of the horizontal scroll bar) and also adopts the control + mouse scroll idiom for zooming in and out.
The former is fine, but I dislike the latter as I am occasionally still holding control when I start scrolling my source code (which results in the text size radically changing and completely throwing me off whatever I was doing).
How do I disable it?
Hi experts.
How can i get the name of the function and its class when the
caret change position i a code file, using VS SDK 2010?
I am using Editor Text Adornment template as an start and c#.
Thanks.
If Visual Studio 2010 based on WPF, why I cannot open it with reflector?
In other words, devenv.exe seems to be native assembly, so where is the WPF UI code?
Codeplex gave me the relevant information for proper connection, and I connected to my repository using the Team Connect to Team Foundation Sever in VS 2010 Ultimate.
Here is what I see:
How can I push the code I have made on my machine, to the repository on CodePlex?
Scott Hanselman suggests using Lucida Console, 14 to 18pt, Bold for the Visual Studio font when presenting. But that's a post from 2003, and I think I remember hearing that there was a better font in VS 2010. Is it Consolas? What font/size should I use when giving a presentation?
Is it possible to ignore the schema in object names when comparing databases using Visual Studio 2010 Schema Compare? For example, I'd like [dbo].[mysproc] and [mysproc] to be considered equivalent.
Given the recent release of VS 2010 I was shocked to see the pricing structure for the different versions of the product. I was lucky enough to receive free versions of VS 2005 and 2008 from attending various MS events. For the hacking I do at home I'm not sure I'm going to spend the money to purchase the IDE and wanted to see what others were using.

When I create a MVC web application in Visual Studio 2010 it offers also to create a testing project using one of framework from the list.
But I have only VS built-in testing framework in it.
Is it possible to add NUnit there?
I'm trying to find a better way to share a master page than the old method of using Web Deployment Projects and a really nasty master page to share master pages between applications. I would think Microsoft would have given us something a little nicer in 2010, but I haven't found anything.
Any ideas?
Is there some cool Moria like theme for Visual Studio 2010?
Mine is highlighting gray font with gray background!
I just can't configure it on Tools-Options-Environment-Fonts and Colors menu. Visual Studio doesn't seem to show an item for this "highlighting keyword/tag system". You select a variable on variable called myVar, and it highlights all with the same name but with a grayer color and gray background. I just can't read it and can't set it.
