  • A simple group-by (no count) in Django

    - by Daniel Quinn
    If this were raw-SQL, it'd be a no-brainer, but in Django, this is proving to be quite difficult to find. What I want is this really: SELECT user_id FROM django_comments WHERE content_type_id = ? AND object_pk = ? GROUP BY user_id It's those last two lines that're the problem. I'd like to do this the "Django-way" but the only thing I've found is mention of aggregates and annotations, which I don't think solve this issue... do they? If someone could explain this to me, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Dealing With Java Default Level Access Specifiers

    - by Tom Tresansky
    I've seen some code in a project recently where some fields in a couple classes have been using the default access modifier without good reason to. It almost looks like a case of "oops, forgot to make these private". Since the classes are used almost exclusively outside of the package they are defined in, the fields are not visible from the calling code, and are treated as private. So the mistake/oversight would not be very noticeable. However, encapsulation is broken. If I wanted to add a new class to the existing package, I could then mess with internal data in objects using fields with default access. So, my questions: Are there any best practices concerning default access specifiers that I should be aware of? Anything that would help prevent this type of accident from re-occurring? Are are any annotations which might say something to the effect of "I really meant for these to be default access"? Using CheckStyle, or any other Eclipse plugins, is there any way to flag instances of default fields, or disallow any not accompanied by, say, a "//default access" comment trailing them?

  • Success function not being called when form is submitted

    - by Tom Hartman
    Hi, I've been trying to figure out why the following script's success function isn't running. Everything in my form works perfectly, and the form contents are being emailed correctly, but the success function isn't being called. If anyone could review my code and let me know why my success function isn't being called I would very much appreciate it! Here is the HTML form with notification divs, which are hidden via css: <div id="success" class="notification"> <p>Thank you! Your message has been sent.</p> </div> <div id="failure" class="notification"> <p>Sorry, your message could not be sent.</p> </div> <form id="contact-form" method="post" action="" class="jqtransform"> <label for="name">Name:</label> <input name="name" id="name" type="text" class="validate[required] input" /> <label for="company">Company:</label> <input name="company" id="company" type="text" class="input" /> <label for="phone">Phone:</label> <input name="phone" id="phone" type="text" class="input" /> <label for="email">Email:</label> <input name="email" id="email" type="text" class="validate[required,email] input" /> <div class="sep"></div> <label for="subject">Subject:</label> <input name="subject" id="subject" type="text" class="validate[required] input" /> <div class="clear"></div> <label for="message">Message:</label> <textarea name="message" id="message" class="validate[required]"></textarea> <div id="check-services"> <input type="checkbox" name="services[]" value="Contractor Recommendation" /> <div>Contractor Recommendation</div> <input type="checkbox" name="services[]" value="Proposal Review" /> <div>Proposal Review</div> <input type="checkbox" name="services[]" value="Existing Website Review" /> <div>Existing Website Review</div> <input type="checkbox" name="services[]" value="Work Evaluation" /> <div>Work Evaluation</div> <input type="checkbox" name="services[]" value="Layman Translation" /> <div>Layman Translation</div> <input type="checkbox" name="services[]" value="Project Management" /> <div>Project Management</div> </div> <div class="sep"></div> <input name="submit" id="submit" type="submit" class="button" value="Send" /> <input name="reset" id="reset" type="reset" class="button" value="Clear" onclick="$.validationEngine.closePrompt('.formError',true)" /> </form> Here is the javascript: // CONTACT FORM VALIDATION AND SUBMISSION $(document).ready(function(){ $('#contact-form').validationEngine({ ajaxSubmit: true, ajaxSubmitFile: 'lib/mail.php', scroll: false, success: function(){ $('#success').slideDown(); }, failure: function(){ $('#failure').slideDown(); $('.formError').animate({ marginTop: '+30px' }); } }); }); And here is my PHP mailer script: <?php $name = $_POST['name']; $company = $_POST['company']; $phone = $_POST['phone']; $email = $_POST['email']; $subject = $_POST['subject']; $message = $_POST['message']; $services = $_POST['services']; $to = '[email protected]'; $subject = 'THC - Contact'; $content .= "You received a message from ".$name.".\r\n\n"; if ($company): $content .= "They work for ".$company.".\r\n\n"; endif; $content .= "Here's the message:\r\n\n".$message."\r\n\n"; $content .= "And they are interested in the services below:\r\n\n"; $content .= implode("\r\n",$services); if ($phone): $content .= "\r\n\nYou can reach them at ".$phone."."; else: $content .= "\r\n\nNo phone number was provided."; endif; $headers = "From: ".$name."\r\n"; $headers .= "Reply-To: ".$email."\r\n"; if (mail($to,$subject,$content,$headers)): return true; else: return false; endif; ?>

I couldn't search for it because they are special characters. code: var ctx = new EventManagerDomainContext(); ctx.Events.Add(newEvent); ctx.SubmitChanges((op) => { if (!op.HasError) { NavigateToEditEvent(newEvent.EventID); } }, null);

  • Is there an alternative to Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.SqlDataType that includes a value for

    - by Daniel Schaffer
    The Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.SqlDataType enum has a value for the timestamp type but not rowversion. I'm looking for an updated version of the assembly or an alternate enum type that supports it. The existing enum has a value for Timestamp, but according to the rowversion documentation, timestamp is "deprecated and will be removed in a future version". I prefer to avoid using deprecated things :)

  • ASP.NET MVC Routes Login/Logout Problem

    - by Tom
    Hi Guys, Relatively new to ASP.NET MVC and little confused about how to do routing. My problem basically relates to "logged in" and "logged out routes" and having both as "/". i.e. I have home/index for logged out user which appears as "/" but this has got me confused as to how I can have home/home for logged in user and still have "/". I keep getting 127.0.0.1/home/home I could modify like 127.0.0.1/home - but I want it like "/". My confusion relates to the fact that the "/" [127.0.0.1/] is bound in the routes collection to home/index. Does anyone know how I can modify the routes dictionary (which will be binded ONCE at the start) so that the "/" can be shared for logged and non-logged users ? Thanks?

  • Wordpress Plugin Appends Div before content

    - by Tom
    I'm trying to attach a div from a voting plugin before the content is generated on both the excerpt and the content of a post. Here's what I have in my plugin: if (get_option('ilt_onPage') == '1') { function putILikeThis($content) { if(!is_feed() && !is_single() && !in_category('3') ) { $likethisbox.= getILikeThis('put'); } $content = $likethisbox . $content; return $content; } add_filter('the_content', putILikeThis); } if (get_option('ilt_onPage') == '1') { function putILikeThis1($excerpt) { if(!is_feed() && !is_archive() && in_category('3') ) { $likethisbox.= getILikeThis('put'); } $excerpt = $likethisbox . $excerpt; return $excerpt; } add_filter('the_excerpt', putILikeThis1); } Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

  • Getting a UIImage from MySQL using PHP and jSON

    - by Daniel
    I'm developing a little news reader that retrieves the info from a website by doing a POST request to a URL. The response is a jSON object with the unread-news. E.g. the last news on the App has a timeStamp of "2013-03-01". When the user refreshes the table, it POSTS "domain.com/api/api.php?newer-than=2013-03-01". The api.php script goes to the MySQL database and fetches all the news posted after 2013-03-01 and prints them json_encoded. This is // do something to get the data in an array echo $array_of_fetched_data; for example the response would be [{"title": "new app is coming to the market", "text": "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...", image: XXX}] the App then gets the response and parses it, obtaining an NSDictionary and adds it to a Core Data db. NSDictionary* obtainedNews = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:responseData options:kNilOptions error:&error]; My question is: How can I add an image to the MySQL database, store it, pass it using jSON trough a POST HTTP Request and then interpret it as an UIImage. It's clear that to store an UIImage in CoreData, they must be transform into/from NSData. How can I pass the NSData back and forth to a MySQL db using php and jSON? How should I upload the image to the db? (Serialized, as a BLOB, etc)

  • Identifying all types with some attribute

    - by Tom W
    Hello SO; I have an issue with .Net reflection. The concept is fairly new to me and I'm exploring it with some test cases to see what works and what doesn't. I'm constructing an example wherein I populate a set of menus dynamically by scanning through my Types' attributes. Basically, I want to find every type in my main namespace that declares 'SomeAttribute' (doesn't matter what it is, it doesn't have any members at present). What I've done is: For Each itemtype As Type In Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes If itemtype.IsDefined(Type.GetType("SomeAttribute"), False) Then 'do something with the type End If Next This crashes the application on startup - the first type it identifies is MyApplication which is fairly obviously not what I want. Is there a right and proper way to look for all the 'real' 'sensible' types - i.e. classes that I've defined - within the current assembly?

  • My first Lisp macro; is it leaky?

    - by Tom Martin
    I've been working through Practical Common Lisp and as an exercise decided to write a macro to determine if a number is a multiple of another number: (defmacro multp (value factor) `(= (rem ,value ,factor) 0)) so that : (multp 40 10) evaluates to true whilst (multp 40 13) does not The question is does this macro leak in some way? Also is this "good" Lisp? Is there already an existing function/macro that I could have used?

  • TCP 3 way handshake

    - by Tom
    Hi, i'm just observing what NMAP is doing for the 3 ports it reports are open. I understand what a half-scan attack is, but what's happening doesnt make sense. NMAP is reporting ports 139 are 445 are open..... all fine. But when i look at the control bits, NMAP never sends RST once it has found out the port is open, It does this for port 135- but not 139 and 445. This is what happens: (I HAVE OMITTED THE victim's replies) Sends a 2 (SYN) Sends a 16 (ACK) Sends a 24 (ACK + PST) Sends a 16 (ACK) Sends a 17 (ACK + FIN) I dont get why NMAP doesnt 'RST' ports 139 and 445??

  • Anyone NOT using a Web Framework? Why?

    - by tom
    I'm well aware of the many reasons to use a web framework. I'm just wondering whether anyone out there is using absolutely no web framework whatsoever to develop their web projects. I would really love to know the reason(s) why you're not using a web framework. For the sake of this discussion, your programming language of choice does not matter. Some possibilities for discussion: You don't hide behind an ORM. You don't rely on any sort of templating system. You think MVC is a really nice TLA but lacks an essential vowel or two. No need for any additional javascript framework tomfoolery. You just write as much code as possible in your native programming language(s). Summary of reasons thus far: Language learning opportunities. Specific performance reasons (write-intensive transaction processing). Seeking more nuanced control over your data and applications (less abstraction). You're building your own framework! Prove to yourself that you can succeed (or fail) just like the big framework-building gurus. Integration issues with unpopular/legacy technologies (exotic databases or protocols come to mind). Big company, lots of code, no talent nor buy-in present to move to a web framework. Some frameworks really lock you in and cannot perpetually grow along with your needs. These few black sheep don't make it easy to jump outside of the framework, write some custom code, and easily jump back in. When you finally escape the asylum, you'll never look back.

  • VS 2008 Code Snippet Indentation

    - by Daniel
    In VS 2008, there are XML code snippets that seem to be pretty awesome :) However, it seems that the snippets we created do not indent properly. For example if we have the following code: { ... { ... { InsertSnippet here. We get something like: { ... { ... { FirstLineofSnippet SecondLineOfSnippet ThirdLineOfSnippet Is there any way to make it so that all lines keep the same indentation?
