  • Appropriate collection for variable-depth list?

    If I wanted to have a collection that described the (recursive) contents of a root directory, including directories and files, how would I store them? Or do I need to come up with an object that holds: -Current directory -Parent directory -Files in directory ..and slap them all in one big list and manually work out the relationship at runtime from each entries Parent directory.

  • Detect modification of variable at runtime in C/C++

    Hello, I am developing a library in C++ where users/programmer will extend a class BaseClass that has a method initArray. This method should be implemented by the user/programmer and it should normally initialize all elements of the array m_arr. Here is a snipplet, modified to this example: class BaseClass { public: BaseClass(int n) { m_arr = new double[n]; size = n; }; virtual ~BaseClass(); int size; double* m_arr; virtual int initArray(); }; Sometimes, the user/programmer implements a initArray that does not initialize some elements of m_arr. What I would like is to create a function in my library that checks if initArray did initialize all elements of m_arr. This function should be called by a sanity-check rutine at runtime. My question: is it possible to detect changes on this array? I can only think of initializing the array with some invalid values (like NaN or Inf), call initArray and check that all values have changed. Thanks for your ideas, David

    Why does extern int n not compile when n is declared (in a different file) static int n, but works when declared int n? (Both of these declarations were at file scope.) Basically, why is int n in file scope not the same as static int n in the same scope? Is it only in relation to extern? If so, what about extern am I missing?

I am trying to concatenate two variables name; $i=0; for ($i=0;$i<5;$i++){ if($array[$i]>0){ $test.$i=//do something }else{ $test.$i=//do something } } //echo $test0 gives me nothing. //echo $test1 gives me nothing. I know I can't use $test.$i but don't know how to do this.Any helps? Thanks!

    I need to store a 30 letter combination, but each letter can only be "0", "1" or "2". When I use sizeof(myString), it returns 32. I want to use this 30 letter combination to access a row of an array, so I'm wondering if it is possible to use a 3 value bool of some sort to store 1 of 3 values in.

When a client uses this library and makes a new linked list, he would have the following declaration: list myList; So typing llist just before the opening brace is practically useless, right?     So on a PHP page (page 1) I have some HTML, including : <form action="create_subject.php" method="post" > Which goes to a processing page (page 2) containing MySQL which will be executed if there aren't any errors. If there are (checked by validation on the processing page (page 2)) or aren't, certain variables are set, including this one for if it's successful : if (mysql_affected_rows() == 1){ $success = 1; redirect_to("new_subject.php"); } However, how would I include $success into the URL without putting it in as : redirect_to("new_subject.php?success=1"); I can't do this as I need to do if statements, and it's only PHP on "page 2" so I can't do an if statement inside redirect_to("new_subject.php"); I know I could do ... } else { redirect_to("new_subject.php?success=1"); } But this would seem mundane and non-semantic especially as I have several variables to proccess.

At the end of each record I need to clear my string variables but I read that someString = @"" actually just points to a new string & causes a memory leak. What is the best way to handle this? Should I rather use mutable string vars and use setString:@"" between iterations?

  • sql select with php variable

    I'm trying to print out a html-table from db-table 'dimensions'. I only want dimensions from the selected pipetype which I get from a dropdownbox. For now I just put in "Steel" manually. Steel has pipe_id = 2 in db-table 'pipes'. I've run the first query in my db-tool and it returns 2 so there's nothing wrong there. The second query returns nothing. But when I manually set $wq = 2 (which I comment out below) it prints out the html-table perfectly. What am I doing wrong here? $wq="SELECT pipe_id FROM pipes WHERE title_en = 'Steel'"; //$wq = '2'; $sql="SELECT * FROM dimensions WHERE pipe_id = '".$wq."'";

    If I have an object instance and I know it is actually a boxed integer, then I can simply cast it back to int like this: object o = GetSomethingByName("foo"); int i = (int)o; However, I don't actually know that the value is an integer. I only know that it can be assigned to an integer. For example, it could be a byte, and the above code would throw InvalidCastException in that case. Instead I would have to do this: object o = GetSomethingByName("foo"); int i = (int)(byte)o; The value could also be a short, or something else which can be assigned to an int. How do I generalize my code to handle all those cases (without handling each possibility separately)?

When an option is selected in the first one, the value of the selection will be used as condition for a database query that will send the source data for the second autocomplete field. Second: Why current POSIX pthread have not implemented this behaviour ? To understand my purpose, I explain what will be my use: I've a producer-consumer model dealing with one shared array. The consumer will cond_wait when the array is empty, but rdlock when reading some elems. The producer will wrlock when adding(+signal) or removing elems from the array. The benefit of using rdlock instead of mutex_lock is to improve performance: when using mutex_lock, several readers would block, whereas using rdlock several readers would not block.

    I want to organize my c++ variables and functions in the following way: function prototypes in a header file "stuff.h", function implementation in "stuff.cpp", then say #include "stuff.h" in main.cpp (so I can call functions implemented in stuff.cpp). So far so good. Now I want to declare some variables in stuff.cpp that have global scope (so I can modify the variables in functions implemented in stuff.cpp and main.cpp). This doesn't seem to work. How can I do this?

  • Form variable does not refresh with ajax call
